#Woke NBA Hero LeBron James Wanted to Know Why Houston Rockets GM Morey Wasn't Being Punished For Supporting Hong Kong Protesters
Update: Hong Kong Now Burning LeBron's Jersey

I already knew he was a bitch, but now I find out he's a snitch.

NBA star LeBron James reportedly pressured the NBA to punish the Rockets' General Manager Daryl Morey after he tweeted support for Hong Kong.

James argued that if something a NBA player had tweeted had cost the league money they would have been punished, and questioned why the same wasn't happening to Morey, according to Dave McMenamin on ESPN.

LeBron, the tattletale bitch sissy, had previously whined that Morey was not properly educated about China like LeBron is, and furthermore, that Freedom of Speech is a lie.

"We all talk about this freedom of speech -- yes, we all do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and only thinking about yourself," James said during a press conference Monday. "I don't want to get into a word or sentence feud with Daryl Morey, but I believe he wasn't educated on the situation at hand."

Previously, LeBron was seen whining that Daryl Morey hadn't considered the suffering of multimillionaire NBA players when expressing support of people being beaten in the streets.

Lebron had tweeted:

"My team and this league just went through a difficult week. I think people need to understand what a tweet or statement can do to others. And I believe nobody stopped and considered what would happen. Could have waited a week to send it."

What a difficult week! So much first-class travel and five star hotels and Michelin-rated restaurants!

You know you can actually get a massage on some expensive first-class flights? What a hardship.

Why didn't Morey think of Poor You instead of the protesters being shot and beaten in Hong Kong?

How do you find the strength to endure, Little Soldier?

Right on, LeBron. Millions in Hong Kong are fearful that their entire way of life is about to change, and thousands upon thousands of protesters are risking their lives to make a stand for their freedom and their future. Why would Morey think about them when your preseason vacation and your bank account is at stake? How selfish of him.

If only Morey had done what you did Monday, LeBron, and tacitly admit that the only thing that really matters is your ability to sell shoes and market "Space Jam 2" in a country of 1.4 billion, we could have had an intellectually honest discussion about doing business in China and the cost of free speech in a country where only propaganda is tolerated.

NBAallegiance

Be sure to check out Jason Whitlock's analysis of the situation, which is that the NBA is a minor player compared to Big Shoe (Nike first and foremost).

And China is very important to Big Shoe, both as a market and, of course, as its chief manufacturing center.

So to hell with Hong Kong. Keep those Nike endorsement checks coming.

62 How and why did basketball become so popular? I think it is a very boring game.

It is, which is why it has the superstar system. Without a huge star to root for and watch, its dull as paint drying. Hence, big stars can foul and charge and double dribble and travel but rarely get called, while anyone who tries to play defense gets called for fouling.

Its like back when Atlanta had the best pitchers in baseball and the umps gave them a five foot wide strike zone. They were so good they didn't NEED the help, but they were stars so they got it anyway.

97 NBA coach Steve Kerr, who is in the middle of this chinese azz-kissing event, was 19 in 1984 and a student at Arizona State University. His father, the president of American University in Beruit, was shot in the head by Islamic Jihad attack. He said he was very traumatized.

His grandfather was put in charge of a relief effort around 1920 in the Middle East to care for millions of refugees that escaped from the Armenian slaughter a few years before.

So Steve Kerr has no excuse for azz-kissing the Communists, because he knows better.

Yet, he does.

Travel? It seems to me that all NBA work on their ground game. As long as you dribbled earlier in the game, you can pretty much just tuck the ball under your arm and go for three yards and a cloud of dust, football style.

Think on it, how many of these "woke" companies even care about the U.S. anymore? They seem to care much more about what the CCP wants. What happens when an American company is no longer "American" but is loyal to another nation. Do we treat them as a foreign company, one we can ban or target with sanctions? They still have their HQ in America to use our courts. That has its own serious pitfalls obviously, but this is a serious threat...and it needs a serious response.

Posted by: LeBra James at October 15, 2019 05:51 PM (EgshT)

248 Take a look at LeBron's Wiki page at his childhood and teenage years for a detailed rundown of what his life was about. His mother was 16 when he was born in Akron, his father was in jail and never part of his life. His mother finally moved him in with an amateur basketball coach in Akron and he started playing for the AAU league( yes that league that has been under scrutiny by the FBI and whose agents have been convicted and are serving time as we speak). He and his buddies ended up going to an all white Catholic school that was known for basketball , and while there, he set all kinds of records, was named Mr.Ohio Basketball , blah blah. He also joined traveling leagues and finally ended up being caught playing for professional leagues and pay, which then caused him to lose amateur status, his team was stripped of some game wins and championships. While this was going on, his mother had mortgaged his further earnings to buy him a Hummer 2 , which again caused more problems with amateur status.

It's one of the reason's he didn't go to play for a college, which considering the NBA wanted to draft him out of HS, didn't matter.

Because he can bounce a basketball well, he is the highest earning player in NBA history, with over $56 M in salary. But that pales compared to the numerous endorsements he has , including a $90M endorsement deal with Nike. And endorsement he got as an 18 year old coming out of HS, which just continues to this day.

James is still your prototypicai angry black man, blaming every ghetto ill on whites, slavery( big supporter of Kapernick) and mentally has never left Akron's run down neighborhoods where he was a young child. I've never liked him, was never happy with his occasional appearances at Ohio State sports events as a "fan" , and find that although he has managed because of having oodles of money that he can hire and fire portfolio and real estate managers at the slightest hint they are screwing him to become incredibly wealthy via endorsements and business ventures, he personally is a loathsome leftist racebaiter.

The only thing admirable off the court he's done is he has managed to stay married to his HS flame ,, with whom he has three kids. I saw the two of them on a charity home renovation show once( Lebron has zero idea how to use a hammer, no joke) and his wife is not NBA wives material. I mean she looks like she works at the DMV. I'm sure he has a stable of ho's scattered around the country, but so far, he has managed to stay with the wife.

257 James argued that if something a NBA player had tweeted had cost the league money they would have been punished, and questioned why the same wasn't happening to Morey, according to Dave McMenamin on ESPN.

=======

costing the league money isn't a crime.

There's a distinction I guess people can't comprehend. A lot of things cost the league money. Plane tickets, electricity, security, paying taxes, for example.

Being an anti-american bitch costs the league money but there's no upside to it except for imaginary woke points.

Being a pro-hongkong tweet maker "costs" the league money but is objectively correct. It's not a 'bad' thing that this tweet cost the league money...

because...

If the NBA wants to be in bed with China, that's going to cost the league money when non communist, non-bitches stop watching the league.

appearing to punish coaches, fans, and players for not supporting China repression will also *cost the league money*.

do the right thing.

261 To think, I used to enjoy pro sports. But I've had it with the kneeling and the kow-towing. My proposal:

1. End tax free interest payable on public bonds used to finance construction of stadiums used by pro sports franchises. Retroactive.

2. End "ordinary and necessary" business expense deduction for tickets/boxes at pro sports events or for advertising on pro sports channels.

3. Adopt an 25% income tax surcharge on entertainers, actors, musicians, sports heros grossing over $5m a year.

4. End anti-trust exemption for all pro-sports.

5. Adopt a US-China version of the China-Hong Kong extradition law allowing the extradition of entertainers, actors, musicians, and sports heros who dismay or offend or fail to kiss the ass of their Chi-Com benefactors. Perhaps they would play harder if they faced execution or organ harvesting when missing an end of the game three pointer.

Posted by: Gossamer Penguin at October 15, 2019 05:38 PM (gaSfV)

Because valuation is based on Broadcast Market Share x Exposure. It has nothing at all to do with the quality of the team. By virtue of being located in NYC, the Knicks have the most lucrative broadcast franchise in the country. The Knicks can play terrible ball, and the franchise will still earn money from the huge number of people who will watch that getting beat by teams that are Actually Good.

Teams like Portland and San Antonia can win championships and still have only a fraction of the value of the Knicks, because of Broadcast Market Share.

(psst, underneath the hype, it's all nothing but a big plastic circus)

We are seeing a decoupling of these, caused by the rise of China. We are no longer the economic hegemon, and thus the decoupling.

In a match on ESL yesterday, a HK player was tagged with the Chinese flag. This is a counterstrike match-ESL got called out on Twitter and immediately ju ped on and changed it.

So, good for them, except they have effectively banned Taiwanese players from competition by requiring that they qualify in the Asia region, which means travel to China, and apparently the rules say they have to have mainland China passports, which they can't get.

His point really struck me. This is what the market will do, and is supposed to be doing, if all you value is market efficiency and maximizing profit.

The problem is that the check against it is supposed to be consumer input, that people will get tired of a business and go to a competitor or start your own.

But that's increasingly becoming literally impossible. Every single human being in America could shun a company like Blizzard and they'd still do fine just on Chinese profits alone. Every single person in America could leave Google and they'd still do fine with world profits. Every single person in America could boycott Hollywood and they'd still make hundreds of millions off films from China alone.

Capitalism has been destroyed by China. And I have no idea how to fix that.

End anti-trust exemption for all pro-sports.

-------

Since 1942 the NFL had a one-off exemption (which they applied for as a trade organization). When they acquired the AFL that would have gone away (and it also needed Congressional approval for the merger).

So, Congress simply changed the tax code itself in 1966 to exempt professional football in perpetuity.

How did the league swing this, you might ask?

For years, Pete Rozelle had refused to allow a franchise in New Orleans. He allegedly said "I'm not running a charity."

Louisiana Senator Russell Long always wanted Nawlins to have a team, and as Chairman of the Finance Committee, he could effectively kill the merger in the cradle.

He told Rozelle "no tickee, no laundry," and thus the deal was done.

319 As someone upthread said, this is more about Nike than the NBA. Nike not only owns the athletic shoe market, they own every athlete. The majority of colleges are under contract with Nike to provide their team uniforms, team shoes, outerwear, practice jersey's etc. Which is why every time you see a college athlete outfitted by Nike, that stupid swoosh is staring back at you from a helmet , a jersey, etc. Since Nike is paying tens of millions of dollars to colleges to outfit their varsity teams, that also buys silence from the colleges on anything that would upset Nike and it builds loyalty from the athletes regarding future purchases and future endorsements should they go pro.

It's also part of the new state legislative push to allow student athletes to be able to accept endorsement money while in college, don't think for a moment companies like Nike aren't lobbying state legislators for this change.

Nike not only has a huge market in China, but they also have a huge stake in manufacturing in China, which is of course, intertwined with Chinese government and it's cheating everywhere to get Nike shoes into other markets cheap and without tariffs.

375 The NBA had me for a while with the selfless team in San Antonio. The types like David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Tony Parker were an example that stood out from the rest of the league. When Popovich started spouting off, I lost all interest. It is a non entity to me. I probably know less about Lebron than 90 percent of adults in this country. To me, he is a non entity. A tree falling in the forest.

You have to wonder about a league that is so dependent on China. Could it be that they realize they can't really grow in their own country because they are so divisive? That they are a niche sport. And it is pretty sad when you entire sport's legacy ends up a shoe sales.
