The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has tried to defuse the rapidly growing fallout over his deleted tweet that showed support for Hong Kong anti-government protesters, saying he did not intend to offend any of the team’s Chinese fans or sponsors. A short time after Morey posted that statement, the NBA said it was “regrettable” that the deleted tweet offended many in China. That followed several companies in China, including some of the NBA’s major business partners there, lashing out over Morey’s original tweet.We can quibble about the actual numbers, but 75,000,000 dead as a result of communism in China is a good starting point for the discussion. But because the Chinese love basketball, especially the American variety, The NBA will just sweep that inconvenient little fact under the table and cash those fat checks. It's amazing that a statement in support of protestors who specifically cite American freedoms and liberty is a point of contention among the leaders of an American corporation. If you were on the fence about American professional sports and their immorality, this is a good example, and a fine point at which to say, "screw you...I'm done!"

The NBA is obviously in the same position as H'wood - they have to (figuratively) kowtow to the Chinese. And they do.
Add that to the stack of reasons why I don't have any use for either of them.
Now, contrast this to the British when they entered China. One of the big reasons for the later troubles was that British emissaries flatly refused to perform the ritual of kowtow, sparking the wrath of the Emperor.
And then the British started some devastating wars, rather than bend the knee. They understood how to subdue yellow heathens in a way that Americans have never grasped.
I don't condone it. It was awful. But it worked.

The House is in court today against the DOJ lawyers arguing for release of the grand jury testimony from the Mueller investigation.
Judge Beryl Howell, and Obama judge, was essentially asking the House lawyers why is your impeachment inquiry all about Ukraine if you are looking for grand jury information about the Russia hoax.
She also told the House that if they wanted the information it would be much easier just to vote for an Impeachment Inquiry.
The House lawyers said they could impeach Trump on Russia issues if they really wanted.

Waay back when Billy Bob was preznit, a relative on the ex's side was literally a rocket scientist. Specialized in payloads. Dude was in his late 30's early 40's. Of course, he worked for Loral. He just up and quit, packed up his family in CA and moved back to Nebraska.
It took us a little while to figure out why, and what it was that made him give up such a lucrative career path - dude was raking it in. Basically up and retired (well, went into real estate). Too bad more didn't follow his example.

He's smarter than is given credit for, but he also appears to be really good at reading people. He has the ability to find an opponent's weakness and just keep push-push-pushing them into making colossal mistakes. His communication game is top notch.
He also appears to be really good at seizing - or pouncing on? - opportunities. While I imagine he's gamed out what he's doing with this Ukraine/FISA/coup stuff in detail, he is flexible enough to react effectively to their every move. Releasing the transcript, for example, completely short-circuited the Schiff and Pelosi, to the point that they were so off-kilter they continued with their plan, thus showing what a sham it was.
Is that 11D chess? Dunno. But it is a set of skills we don't typically see in politics, and it is fun to watch. A lot!

Finally, Levin ends and Breitbart starts and it was like a different universe. Joel Pollack and the female pundit( can't think of name) begin discussing this move. Pollack had absolutely the best take on this I've heard. He said that it's 50 people, like a classroom size group of likely Rangers, special Ops, etc. He also said that it's time the Kurds actually got their act together and knowing we were eventually leaving them, to try to form a government, a stable society, police force, etc. like most other countries do when an ally finally leaves them. He gave the example of when Britain left Palestine and Israel decided to support itself, not rely on other countries.
He said he asked someone familiar with the Kurds why the Kurds have not determined a leader, formed a framework for a government, etc. and that person laughed and told him it was because they were too busy fighting each other. And then Pollack posed the question to the listening audience last night, did we really want to become a permanent baby sitter for this group, pouring millions of dollars and American lives for a group who can't even determine a leader and demonstrate they want to be an autonomous area of Syria?

Yeah, the 11D chess bit is done by people who don't understand the difference between strategic and tactical thinking.
Trump's a tactician. He's got his end goal, and he's going to navigate his way to it without a whole lot of pre-planning, using his understanding of the obstacles along the way to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
That's a kind of thinking that a lot of our political class don't have. They're strategists, if they're anything. They want to map out where to go and will completely fall apart at the first break from their plans.
Both techniques have their advantages, but in protracted battles you go with the tactician. He's going to be months into a battle and still nimble while the strategist will have completely collapsed, trying to come up with new well-thought out plans in the heat of battle.

It's more than that. I think the Globalists have purposefully tried to build up China to be the next superpower, so they can then justify forcing the rest of the world to adopt the "miraculous" Chinese system (Basically fascism with the serial numbers filed off).

They need a path to escape the voter's wrath, once the public becomes aware of their globalist intent to rule us, free of any vote. Open borders weakens US, but enriches them. same in some respects with jihadist invasions, various forms of chaos, where they keep us fighting each other.
The massive US debt enriched them to oligarch levels, our monetary policy has served them more than US ... fed funds rates have gone lower since 1980 or so, with bailouts for billionaires at various points along the way. Now we are at zero interest (basically) since 2009 when "they" had to take care of Obama during his fundamental transformation of America.
