Biden Will Speak at 2:30, Demand Trump's Impeachment

True Conservatives AllahPundit, Patterico, and The Bulwark are all besides themselves with excitement!

Former vice president Joe Biden is expected to call for President Trump’s impeachment if the president continues to stonewall Congress’s investigations regarding reports that Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden and his son, Hunter.

During a speech Tuesday afternoon, Biden is "going to make the point that Trump's latest abuses are on top of all of his prior abuses," a Biden aide said. "He's going to call on Trump to comply with all of Congress’s outstanding, lawful requests for information -- in the Ukraine matter, and in the other investigations -- and if Trump does not comply, Congress has no choice but to impeach."

The statement seems to fall short of asking for impeachment to begin now.

Pelosi has changed her position and is now in favor of impeachment, or at least is discussing how to do it:

Ben Domenech sees this as the party's attempt to take the nomination from Biden and deliver it to Elizabeth Warren:

59 So the Dims are desperate to expose the corruption of . . . . . . . . . . Joe Biden and Barack Obama?

Because it was Joe Biden who abused the office of the vice presidency to get a prosecutor fired who was investigating Biden's son for a corrupt kickback, and it was Obama who apparently (according to Joe Biden's account anyway) okayed Biden's threat to withhold a $1 billion government loan to the Ukraine if they didn't fire the prosecutor investigating Biden's son.

And the Dims want to make more Americans aware of the blatant corruption in the "scandal free" Obama/Biden administration? Really? Then go for it, Dims!

76 Leftists foolishly think that "Impeachment" means removal from office.

They forget that Bill Friggin' CLINTON was impeached, and yet was NOT ever removed from office, and servd out his full terms. AND he still struts about like he's God's Gift to Ex-Presidents. Impeachment in no way sullied him.

So their obsession with impeachment is laughable, since Trump can never be "convicted" of anything, since there is no crime.

They just want to harass him. Plain and simple.

Yeah, impeachment sounds like the crack of doom, but its just a fancy word for indictment for powerful politicians. Its the process to recommend a trial, basically a super grand jury made up of politicians. That's as far as it will go, really, no way the Senate votes to convict, even if Dems controlled it.

But they want payback for Clinton, and to hurt Trump any way they can. And they've hive minded themselves into believing all manner of crazy extremist crap in a shark frenzy of social media echo chamber (see how many buzz phrases I can stick together?) and now they believe crazy, crazy things about Trump. I doubt she makes it happen.

Whether true or not, conventional wisdom says that impeachment proceedings cost the party that initiates them.

I think that it would be true in this case, by the way. Trump isn't NEARLY unpopular enough to justify it in the general electorate's mind.

If it happens, it's to counter either a guaranteed loss in 2020 somehow or to give the MSM something to talk about other than the IG report.

381 So let me get this straight. The President was allegedly using diplomatic relations to gather evidence of a crime committed by Biden's son. Biden wants to make the claim that doing so was improper and illegal and should be impeached, so therefore in defense of the President all evidence supporting probable cause of a crime actually having been committed by Biden's son are considered exculpatory and pertinent to the impeachment proceedings?

So the debate in the senate necessarily revolves around exactly how incriminating the evidence against Biden and his Son is?

How is it not within the purview of the Chief Executive to at least ask about the possibility that an American attempted to do what Biden pretty much admits he did? Even if it's not accurate, how is it corrupt of Trump to ask, especially in the context of trying to see how corrupt the Ukraine may possibly be since we are considering giving them huge funds? I don't see the context of any hard evidence that Trump did things in the order and with the intent that they seem quite confident he did them.

As they should, since it has to be a change in the constitution, but I think its a valid one. 2 terms in the senate, maybe 4 in the house is enough for everyone. None of the arguments against it have the slightest credibility or logic.

I wonder if his running was not just a big ego/F-you campaign, since they put the brakes on him in 2016.

I think he was meant to be one of two things by the DNC:

Doesn't matter - impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. If a simple majority of Reps and a super-majority of Senators say adios - then it's adios.

No justification is needed - other than what is needed to persuade said Reps and Senators.

493 If the Left doesn't sway public opinion with this, mark it: they will stage a Reichstag Fire-
style event. It may be a false flag "white nationalist" attack on the J. Edgar Hoover Building, an outright assassination to take out one of their own they don't like (Kevlar could be your friend, Bernie and/or Joe), or something even more spectacular.

But they are going for all the marbles. Not quite sure why now, but it may be connected to the pending reports related to the failed coup attempt.

Welcome the Soviet Union Part II.

Total destruction of the Democratic party. Amazing.

Yeah, not enough people understand this. Pelosi could impeach because Trump's tie is ugly. It's a political thing, not criminal.

Yeah it doesn't take but a gnat's belch and the markets shift if even just a little. They're a bunch of of those fainting goats out there.

The more I think about it, the more I think its RGB. We already got rumors about her health last week.

==========

I lean towards the IG report. It's been swimming in the background for a couple of weeks. Word of it is about how all the FISA applications were illegal.

RBG has had a couple of big health scares in the last year, and we've seen nothing like this.

579 I don't get the upside to this for them. If it's just a dog and pony show pretending to look at impeachment to pander to their base, they're pissing people off for nothing, unless they're frantic to push something out of a news cycle.

If they really do move to impeach... if they fail to remove him, they get all the downside and none of the upside. If they succeed...half the country isn't going to sit still for that.

I'm not sure they have any idea what they're doing. This reeks of bunker mentality infused with Acela cluelesness.

Posted by: lurker (the other one... spelled with a P) at September 24, 2019 02:14 PM (eAshZ)

580 I honestly believe they will get the votes to impeach AND the Senate will vote to convict.

There is too much at stake now for Congress and the "elites" to let Trump continue to effect the changes he's promised.

I'm not being negative when I say that. The plan was laid out BEFORE the election. There hasn't been a week - not ONE GOD DAMNED WEEK - that has gone by without some manufactured controversy about Trump.

The totality spells out impeach and convict. At least in the minds of our politicians and "elites".

They should all burn in hell for doing this.

I know but I think this is part of the Dum plan. They would likely never get enough votes if it even gets to the senate. In the meantime they get to distract people with the shiny new object. Try to rally their base. More importantly if they can tank the economy they will. They want it for leverage, they could care less whom it hurts if it gives them a chance at power.

And not enough people understand the amount of family graft that goes on in the Senate. The House too of course but the Senate is what matters with impeachment. Trump threatening the Deep State was one thing, threatening the friendsfamily gravy train of the Senate GOPe is a wild card.

Count 1: someone (unknown) heard someone (unknown) say Trump "promised" Ukraine something (unknown) related to something Joe Biden's son probably corruptly did in the Ukraine.

Count 2: Come on! He's guilty of something or else we wouldn't be so worked up about it.

588 They do realize that like any court, the accused gets to present evidence that proves he has not committed any impeachable actions. And since this is not a normal activity, it will be televised no matter what.

The nation will get the full story of all these incidents as they actually happened and the laws that actually apply and not the daydreams and misinterpretations of arm chair lawyers and ignorant media scribes and of course the elected by LIV Democrats who most have no idea what the law is or isn't.

We're going to have a fun Christmas watching the Democrats come apart at the seams and even the media won't be able to help them.

Not even if they have a few Quislings in the Senate the facts will still be out there for anyone to see.

And don't they understand that even if worse comes to worse, they're still left with Pence as President and I think he would have a chance because the Democrats just don't have anyone up there that isn't either senile or mentally deficient as candidates.

599 Patterico lives only in the hopes of one day being able to scream "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" because he invested everything in never trump.

Can you believe this guy once posted an entire thread on the The Most Crucial and Important Factor to being able to convince another of your argument (being open to the possibility the other guy could be right) but once Trump hit the scene, he exposed himself as exactly the type he railed against? Must have hurt his ego when all his (now former) pals pointed this out to him.

Very enjoyable that the guy is so shot that he is literally unable to post on his blog anymore unless it's a chance for him to flail about in "I TOLD YOU SO!!" land.

And I demand impeachment just as I did to this bad black dude Corn Pop when we fought Godzilla in Honduras, I swear to God, armed only with a 12 gauge. And I beat Godzilla like a drum and ate his tail and mounted the rest of him in my office, God's truth.

Now Trump must be impeached because he was a spy for Godzilla. The voices in my head told me that. While I was a coal miner, I found the secret city of the dwarfs and they gave me a magic wand to "see" things. Me and my gumba Obama saw lots of things while on trips with this magic wand.
