They both had parts in Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016). Nobody explictly guessed at the "meta-theme" I was running last week. However, Jordan61 had the right idea: 44 Forgot you were on a Hobbit kick this week! This is close enough for full credit. What I had in mind was the male celebs from last week, Dean O'Gorman, Aidan Turner, and Richard Armitage, all played dwarves in Peter Jackson's Hobbit films: Fili, Kili, and Thorin Oakenshield, respectively. By the way, Mrs. Muse and I are watching Aidan Turner in the Poldark reboot on Amazon Prime. The backstory is that Ross Poldark (Turner), an officer in the British Army has come home to his family estate in Cornwall after fighting in the American Revolution for several years, only to find his father dead, his girlfriend married to his cousin, and his lands and estate in serious neglect. So he's got to build his life and fortunes back up again. It's a good series (so far -- we're part-way through the first season) and we recommend it. So last week Netflix bought the rights for Seinfeld for $500M as you all probably heard.
Today I was reading a thing on LinkedIn about it and the comments are......I CAN'T EVEN stuff. There's a popular view that 20 years later Seinfeld should be public domain. Cuz....FAIRNESS!! And also another popular view that Seinfeld shouldn't be on any platform cuz...white people show with lots of racially insensitive episodes. The stupidity never ends, it just accelerates. And yeah this is probably a minority view. But it was also a minority view to allow men to shower with girls, yet it's the law of the land in most states. If the mainstream media were doing its job
------------ The thing is ... what is their job? They are propaganda machines nothing more nothing less. That is all media has ever really been. There was a period during the 20th century where they conned the nation that they were some sort of professional, non-biased class, but that was only to advance themselves. There is no going back to a time that never really existed. Posted by: SH at September 23, 2019 11:29 AM (sX1BW) 24

If you check Sheldon Leonard's photos on IMDb, No. 31 shows him, as producer of I Spy, with Robert Culp and Bill Cosby. Leonard never gave up acting completely, but his producer years brought us a lot of classic entertainment, like Make Room for Daddy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and others.

Whenever Poldark rides into town they show a view from the top of the cliffs overlooking the sea as the horse travels from left to right. Weekly (roughly) repost:
Predictions for someone to google and point to and say what do YOU know anyway: Won't make it to Iowa: Marianne Williamson (ultimate vanity candidacy, she won't be able to qualify for the ballot) Wayne Messam (Who? Exactly) Tulsi Gabbard (she's burned too many bridges) Drops after Iowa: John Delaney (self funded vanity) Andrew Yang (self funded vanity) Julian Castro (old, old news) Amy Klobuchar (last finisher for the women) Kirsten Gillibrand (next-to-last finisher for the women) Seth Moulton (maybe - he might not get to Iowa, candidacy doesn't have any reason for being. Against the Iraq War? So was/is Trump.) Eric Swalwell (candidacy is to troll Trump - a costly way to do it) Jay Inslee Drops after NH: John Hickenlooper (honestly I just needed to put someone here) Drops after SC: Beto O'Rourke (he can fund himself past a poor showing in Iowa, and the big dropout after Iowa will make him look like a mover until he gets to SC) Drops after Super Tuesday: Elizabeth Warren (nobody really likes her anyway - Super Tuesday will demonstrate that definitively) Cory Booker (he will already be reeling from going nowhere with the black vote in SC) That will leave the field with this: Joe Biden Pete Buttigieg Bernie Sanders Kamala Harris Bernie will run to the convention regardless of where he is. But he is already done. Now here it gets tricky - Harris I don't think can win but the Dems can't let the last candidates all be white men. UNLESS - she drops out, immediately endorses Biden, and Biden says, immediately, I will be glad to have her on my ticket when we get to the convention. Despite the fact I think he won't win, this might actually make him win. If those campaigns are too bitter with each other to do that, that only leaves one candidate: Buttigieg Posted by: blaster at April 26, 2019 10:42 AM (ZfRYq) Well. So far I am not too far out of whack. Yet. Booker may lose the money primary. A campaign for President is expensive, and he needs to raise money. His problem - no one likes him and he doesn't occupy any territory in the Democrat space that isn't already covered by just about everyone else. Fox News most recent poll looks like April all over again. Biden at about 30, Bernie edging out Warren for 2d, Harris at 4th ahead of Buttigieg, and Beto in sixth with Yang way back in the lower tiers, Tulsi at zero. I think the message here is that the polls are crap. Posted by: blaster at September 23, 2019 11:34 AM (9VeU0) Posted by: Muldoon at September 23, 2019 11:34 AM (m45I2) 68

"If the mainstream media were doing its job, J-school students would be
taught that their job is to report the facts, not change the world." or change the world by tracking down the real story, exposing the subterfuge of corrupt politicians, for example. Instead we have media helping cover up the real story, to promote the subterfuge of the "DeepState" and/or the various subversive elements. They are nearly all on board with orchestrated FakeNews memes ... while RealJournalism is Solomon, Mollie, Attkisson, etc. (or we hope) But there are even deeper crimes imo, that no one will touch ... that I think is the human trafficking and mafia/syndicate direct ties to BigNames. Cernovich stumbled across such stuff, followed up on by the Miami Herald (?) and he said he was told to stand down "you don't know what you are getting into" ... and he did stand down. There is BigCrime that is well known but too big to even mention ... (maybe Bulger and the Biden kid and Ukraine are tied to that, or maybe that is a different crime syndicate that is TooBigToJail ... ) We know Schumer described even our DeepState spies as having six ways from Sunday to get you, even to get POTUS ... and they have shown that is true. Get you for exposing the crime syndicate ... (even if true blue patriot field agents are compartmentalized away from the likes of Strzok/Mueller/Bulger/Epstein syndicate level). There seems to be a trend of popularity of pre-woke era sitcoms, including Seinfeld, Friends and The Office. My teen says The Office is very popular with kids. "If the mainstream media were doing its job, J-school students would be taught that their job is to report the facts, not change the world.
"If the mainstream media were doing its job, Americans wouldn't hold journalists in such contempt, even lower than TV evangelists and used-car salesmen. These two. The first one, in particular, is endemic throughout the humanities. One does not study history to "change to the world" - one studies history to understand the world and how we got to where we are. This crap is constant and degrades studies. And as to used car salesmen, they often play a bit free and easy with the truth and they are generally unpleasant to deal with - but they're moving a product. Journalists are no longer moving a product and have lost that final check on their behavior. No one is buying what they're selling anymore, and those on top are the kept women of a rich man and do whatever they want. They're whores of a type, but far less honest and more immoral than legitimate whores. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at September 23, 2019 11:52 AM (I2dne) 176
Posted by: blaster at September 23, 2019 11:34 AM (9VeU0) You left out one - not that I think he has a chance, but he DOES have a big impact on the Money Primary. Tom Steyer. He was *supposed* to be using his millions to back some of the other Dems, and now they are pissed that he is using all of his money pushing online ads for his own candidacy. This is one of the reasons all the money for wannabes like Booker have dried up. Bernie Sanders is as high as he can go. Maybe he can get 30% support, but he'll never get over that. Biden - come on, what have we been talking about all weekend? Buttigieg - he was just a novelty candidacy, his religious act has already worn out. He's got nothing. Harris - 4th even in California? Come on, she's done. She was the Scott Walker of this campaign, looked good on paper, folded like a cheap lawn chair under fire. Warren - sure, she's a lousy candidate. She's also gonna be the last Squaw standing. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 23, 2019 11:52 AM (Kpl3J) 177

Posted by: ALH at September 23, 2019 11:44 AM (uLuPn) ++++++++++++ The AP would be a far better choice for targeted acquisition by a conservative op. Most newspapers on the ropes. If you don't subscribe to your local daily (you probably don't), go to a restaurant or someplace that has them and leaf through it. Count the articles from local reporters vs articles from the AP or Reuters. Taking over Reuters would be hard because Thomson just did a big maneuver that will keep them healthy for a while. AP, though, is vulnerable. If a conservative or conservative cabal were to exercise a clandestine takeover, it could have gigantic cultural implications if done carefully over a couple of years. So, they buy into the old Marxist line that "behind every great fortune lies some great crime", even though that is just a cheap intellectual justification for Envy. Men like Patterico buy into it so completely that they are *convinced* that Trump must have been constantly committing crimes, even though he's been monitored and investigated by State and Federal officials for 20 or 30 years now, and even though Trump has always had a small army of accountants and lawyers handling the details of his private finances. Which all goes to prove that Patterico isn't a logical thinker at all, he bases all of his decisions on his emotions and prejudices. Wow he must be a great prosecutor. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 23, 2019 12:05 PM (Kpl3J) -------- It's occurred to me that given his public statements over several years, that it's downright disturbing that he's a prosecutor... With his mode of reasoning about criminal activity, I can't imagine it would be hard for a good government watchdog (LOL, I know) to come up with enough evidence to have him fired, at the very least. 184 I think "Friends" is responsible for a lot of anger on the left.
Think about it--a bunch of people without real jobs live in a fabulous apartment suite and they never, never have to worry about money. I'm sure every "social justice" or "feminist theory" student thought, "Yeah, that's what's going to happen!" Then reality set in, and they're working at a Starbucks with a huge student debt and no real future. Because leftists are incapable of discarding their fantasies when reality appears, naturally they are angry that "the system" has failed to make their fantasies real. I blame "Friends" for a lot of this. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at September 23, 2019 * * In an early episode we were told that Monica had the fabulous apartment because it belonged to her and Ross's grandmother; she was subletting it. But that was only mentioned once -- it'd be easy to miss. And there was a story where Joey, Phoebe, and Rachel were upset because the other three earned more than they did, and going to expensive places to eat was really hard on them. Of course that kind of nod to reality vanished as the show went on. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at September 23, 2019 12:23 PM (ClOmq) 343

Jerry S is worth $960 Million and he sometimes makes the guest on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee pay the check and borrows other peoples cars to drive them around. The man is A FUCKIN' GENIUS or SCOTTISH.

Trivia bit: Friends, Seinfeld, and Mad About You are all set in the same fictional universe. Phoebe's unemotional twin Ursula was a regular character in MAY; a couple of the MAY women characters once showed up at the coffee house in Friends; and we were told in a MAY episode that Paul Reiser's character used to room with Kramer before he married.

SNL has been unwatchable for quite a long time
==== I was in college when SNL began. I would watch it sporadically through the first casts run. I think I might have watched a comlete episode once, but no more than once. Always thought it would have been better if they cut the last half hour. The gems to crap ratio was just too low.
