The NPC Left's War on... Chicken

Ikea announced that it would be adding a menu item to its cafe -- Jamaican jerk chicken.

Do you see the problem?

If you don't, you've resisted even getting a vaccination-level dose of the left's viral lunacy.

But many of you got that immunization-spurring dose, and you've successfully guessed: Because Cultural Appropriation.

IKEA, the Swedish furniture company famous for their affordable, assembly-required home goods as well as their delicious meatballs, came under fire recently after adding "Jerk Chicken" to their cafe menu in some U.K. locations.

...

IKEA's jerk chicken was served with a side of white rice and peas, which caught the attention of some on social media, who castigated the furniture giant because traditional "rice and peas" doesn't actually feature green peas, but kidney beans (or gungo peas) steeped in coconut milk.

...

[I]t seems the pressure was too much as IKEA has issued a formal apology and removed the item from their menus:

IKEA is a Swedish home furnishing company with a much-loved food offer. We take inspiration from many countries around the world and have always worked to combine different flavors and ingredients to offer delicious, healthy and affordable dishes. ... We're aware that our new jerk chicken, served with rice and peas has created some conversation and in some cases offense. Our intention was to create a dish for many people to enjoy but we appreciate that we may have got it wrong. We apologize and we are now relooking at the dish.

Tim Pool suggests boycotting Ikea for bowing to NPC pressure, which only encourages them and results in further loss of liberty.

Also from Tim Pool: Since the leftist Alphabet People NPCs started boycotting Chick-Fil-A almost ten years ago, it has merely doubled its annual sales.

Under Dan T. Cathy's leadership, Chick-fil-A has grown to be a $10.5 billion company, the third-largest in the nation behind Starbucks ($20.5 billion) and McDonald's ($38.5 billion) in 2018, according to Nation Restaurant News.

Those numbers represent a 16.7% increase in sales for Chick-fil-A last year, more than four times that of Starbucks.

"Can they reach $30 billion? I think that's also a realistic goal if you give them enough time, And that should put them ahead of Starbucks," Kalinowski Equity Research founder Mark Kalinowski told Business Insider.

There are more than 2,400 Chick-fil-A locations nationwide, compared to more than 14,000 Starbucks' and McDonald's locations each.

Start-up costs for an operator for a Chick-fil-A are only $10,000, just 10 percent of the minimum cost for a McDonald's. The average Chick-fil-A location brought in $4.6 million in annual sales in 2018.

I thought if you were in the food selling business you'd decide what to sell by whether people wanted to buy it. If they want to buy it because it tastes good and they think the price is fair then you make money and they get good food.

And if they don't like it or its price point they don't buy it and then you try to sell them something else.

125 Let me see if I've got this right:

Having "diversity" is great because white people get other cultures in their country.

If white people try to bring any of those other cultures into their own, then that's "cultural appropriation."

Brown people can come to the West and appropriate whatever white people's culture they want to.

White people can't dislike another culture or even find it slightly off-putting, nor can they like it, partake in it, or adopt it.

White people should just hand over everything they've invented, discovered, designed, created and built to brown people, then they should shut up and die.

Did I get that right?

139 IKEA's business model relies on cultural appropriation.

IKEA's founder was inspired by a box of matches and began designing furniture which could be shipped flat, easily assembled, and represent Scandinavian design.

The whole point of an IKEA in America or, as in this story, the UK is to take the one good idea those Fjord Wogs ever had and make money from it.

194 Sorry to highjack the chicken thread. But from the last thread. I just read an AP story that made me fucking livid. "Biden did urge Ukraine to fire the prosecutor, with the threat of withholding U.S. aid, but his position reflected that of the U.S. government and several other western countries more broadly for other reasons." Let that sink in a moment. I mean, read that. That was all they mentioned about SloJoe. So Trump doesn't get to decide our position? So it's a crime for him to ask them to look into it but not for Obama and co. to withhold aid if they don't fire the prosecutor in charge of looking into the firm his kid worked for. Are you FUCKING kidding me? Fuck you media. Seriously I am so mad right now. I need to go have a bourbon on the patio.

$2. Definitely a "price point" for cheap me.

Also, a fold-up, counter-top dish-drying rack, we need an extra one for over-flow when cooking big.

Have some stainless steel mixing bowls from there we got about 5 years ago. Awesome. Indestructible, so can take them in the yard when harvesting tomatoes, lemons, herbs.

From CNET:

"Google has reportedly built a quantum computer more powerful than the world's top supercomputers. A Google research paper was temporarily posted online this week, the Financial Times reported Friday, and said the quantum computer's processor allowed a calculation to be performed in just over 3 minutes. That calculation would take 10,000 years on IBM's Summit, the world's most powerful commercial computer, Google reportedly said. Google researchers are throwing around the term "quantum supremacy" as a result, the FT said, because their computer can solve tasks that can't otherwise be solved. "To our knowledge, this experiment marks the first computation that can only be performed on a quantum processor," the research paper reportedly said. "

The last time they stayed with us, they invited themselves down for Easter Sunday weekend. We (husband and I) went to church, returned home, and the new wife began describing the contents of my closets to me. They are Messianic Jews (were both raised as Presbyterians) and resented the whole Easter celebration thing, and told us so. The guy has been my husband's bestie since they were toddlers, so I have to put up with them.

Move to the County, stay away from the City.

Sarasota is fairly conservative if you live outside the city limits in the County, which is much larger and populated than the city.

The city inside the limits is reliably leftist Democrat, populated heavily with retired lawyers, retired professors, retired teachers, retired Dem political hacks.

And of course it's much more expensive than the County

They just banned straws, have a "Sustainability Dept." to insure adherence to "green policies", and they're trying to get everyone to ride bicycles even though it's populated by rich old liberals who don't do well peddling in a hot humid climate. That's just for starters.

If you want to live among Americans, the County is good. If you want to live among Northeast Marxists who retired to Florida, the city is your place.

Posted by: Surfperch at September 20, 2019 07:33 PM (tVQUs)

Subway has in their franchise contract the right to track every sale real-time, and the right to open any new store anywhere they want to. Corporate looks at where the hottest stores are, and open another one down the block to compete with it. Individual store profits? Hahaha. They don't care.

I knew of two owners who started out making money, then got new stores opened up less than a mile away. They had a first refusal to buy them first, but it didn't make financial sense, so someone else bought them and became essentially competitors selling the same product in the same area.

This was over a decade ago, and I know one of them sold out a long time ago.

Subway franchises are scams, you can't make money in the long term.

The United States is deploying military forces to the Middle East after Saturday's drone attacks on major oil sites in Saudi Arabia that the administration of President Donald Trump has blamed on Iran.

"The president has approved the deployment of U.S. forces which will be defensive in nature and primarily focused on air and missile defense," U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said at a news conference Friday.

Esper did not say how many troops would be sent, but said they would be primarily focused on air and missile defenses.

"As the President has made clear the United States does not seek conflict with Iran. That said we have many other military options available should they be necessary," he said.

Saudi Arabia requested what the secretary described as "extra defensive support," he said, and it will "send a clear message that the United States supports our partners in the region."

The move was also made with commerce in mind, as the attack included as a target the world's largest oil processing facility.

The extra troops would help "ensure the support free flow or resources necessary to support the global economy," Esper said.
