#WokeCapitalism: 145 Corporate Executives Demand The Government Dismantle the 2nd Amendment

Obey your Corporate Overlords. They went to Good Colleges and support many pseudoconservative opinion journals and many on-the-payroll Senators.

"Doing nothing about America's gun violence crisis is simply unacceptable and it is time to stand with the American public on gun safety," the heads of 145 companies, including Levi Strauss, Twitter and Uber, say in the letter, which was shared with The New York Times.

Meanwhile, Democrats are quietly angry at Blotto O'Rourke for giving a SPOILER to the gun-confiscation movie they're preparing. Spoiler: They confiscate your guns at the end.

Champion of Homosexuals Cory Booker says both that his gun confiscation plan is "mandatory" but also that it won't involve government agents knocking on your door.

Um, how else is there to make it non-voluntary?

38 that movie has multiple endings.

The one most likely is that they tell us to turn in our guns and we say "F**k You" and they say "oh, okay".

It's the states going after guns that will the biggest hazard and after that will be big business sticking their nose in the whole thing and disabling the firearms sellers and manufactures from being able to do business.

There will be lawsuits over that that will probably win but in the meantime no guns for anyone.

49 What they will do first is require a registry otherwise a demand for your guns is pretty useless. That is why NZ is now moving toward creating that law because their recall of semi-autos failed to get any compliance.

Sort of like not filing your income tax, they will argue failure to register constitutes a crime allowing seizure of firearms. The only fly in the ointment is Ginsberg's shaky health and for us, the brave Sir Roberts who might just run away from protecting the 2A.

77 As i recall, Levis and Levi Strauss have a had a long history of left leaning populism. There is nothing new here.

I think the first question someone actually trying to make things better should ask, is if gun violence is on the rise or not. Are mass shootings, as horrible as they are, actually increasing compared to other eras when people were more circumspect about ending Constitutional freedoms. I read recently in a MSM article that "no one really knows" if these events are increasing or not. I find that odd. Why can't someone do the research and give us the plain facts?
Of course we should do what is just if it can prevent atrocities. But shouldn't the first step be finding out if these things are an epidemic or not? Again, stop all of them if you can, but at least give us the facts. We are big boys here.

It is telling that you never hear a gun control person claim there are ten times as many events as 30 years ago or something. They say it is an epidemic. Everything is an epidemic these days. If these politicians can solve gun violence simply be getting elected, why don't they go all the way and solve all violence?

120 OH yeah. Big tech and Business are conniving to create a cashless society so that they have complete control over your finances and choices.

either a chip in your hand or facial recognition apps and a refusal to take cash and a lot of people will be screwed.

And that's just the way big business and Big tech want it.

You can see the roots in China but there at least they have the excuse that it's a homogeneous society and pretty much was being run in a similar manner of the community knowing who were the troublemakers and so making it hard for them to do more harm.

The social scoring was a natural off shoot of their society anyway.

That's not going to work well here or at least not in rural areas that means the urbanites will force it on everyone. If they can.

133 Kamala Harris says we should just say "Yes we can" to executive order assault weapons ban. She knows that to challenge the order as unconstitutional, you must first be harmed by the order. In other words, the government would have to confiscate your weapon, before you could sue to have the order declared unconstitutional. So the government takes your guns, after 10 years of litigation, the Supreme Court renders the order unconstitutional. Ok give me my guns back. You know, the ones you were supposed to store during the litigation? Oh, they were inadvertently melted for scrap? Great.

Republicans have neither a comparable long term plan on behalf of their alleged basic principles (e.g., expanded liberty?) or the will or knowledge how to fight day-to-day for these alleged principles. It just wants to get along, make deals, co-exist according to a moribund model of bipartisan politics.

After two world wars, you could just about bet a lot of barns, farm sheds, and house basements have a little something buried away. Even ammo from ww2 will be about 50% usable.

We've long suffered "evil corporation" rhetoric from the Left. It's important to understand that the CEOs of large corporations, which are Kafkian bureaucracies, are quite likely to lean left. Henry Ford isn't running the company that bears his name anymore.

By the way, that doesn't mean that corporations aren't evil. Just that they are not naturally "right wing." Their conservatism is of a very different ass-covering kind.

Amendments also intentionally have a very high hurdle to passing, which is why Democrats mostly ignore them and just try to claim extra-Constitutional authority for themselves.

Just pick one and make an example of them. Then move on to another. Most stockholders don't vote, and a lot of these companies are small enough it wouldn't be all that hard to win a vote if there was an organized movement to do so. Shareholders stage these sorts of interventions to force management changes all the time, but it is usually lead by a hedge fund guy etc...

Some of these companies on the list have less than 500 employees and not all that huge a stock float. I know this won't happen, but it is perfectly doable.

Compliance in a democratic country requires a respected rule of law and about half of the population believes that between the illegal voting, the attempted coup, numerous examples of widespread unlawful Dem behavior such as fantifa, sanctuary for illegals, that the rule of law is dead. Coincidentally, this same proportion is probably about 80 percent correlated with firearm owners.

Unfortunately, Beto may be this century's John Brown and I can see Brave Sir Justice Roberts standing in for Roger Taney. In that case, we are just a few years what will be calle the future unpleasantness. Or if we are lucky--Trump channels Andrew Jackson and gets us a few more years but the union is broken when roughly one quarter of the population wants a civil rights organization (NRA) that is not violent in the least--outlawed because it vexes them.

266 177 LadyL, good info on Sunday gun posts right here on AOS. I can also suggest the High Road (THR) forum as while they are a bit more staid than commenters here and obviously decorum requires wearing appropriate attire when posting there, there is a wealth of information there and the folks are very friendly to new shooters. Expect to be overwhelmed with kind offers of assistance.

Defense Training International (Farnam) and Rangemasters (Givens) are two recognized traveling trainers that go across country to help folks get the training that they need and both of these organizations are run by husband-wife teams. Google them.

Also, there is probably a project Appleseed in your state that is a low cost two day training opportunity around the year in most of the country on a regular basis. The std. is a .22 LR to keep costs low but they do permit high powered rifles at some locations which they will specify.

That sounds like a reasonable number, which assuming a lowball of 40
million households worth firearms would put our number at roughly 1.2

suspect that after the first few shootouts the rank and file cops would

Under trump, his violent rhetoric and white supremacy has spurred right
wing violence to unprecedented levels. I, a white male, am afraid to
walk down the street for fear a lunatic from the far right will shoot up
my block because it happens to be home to a few homosexual families.
This has given this conservative pause to reflect on what my support of
this 18th century relic of a "right" is doing to our friends and
neighbors. It is beyond time we put aside the antiquated second
amendment and return ourselves to a civil, inclusive society. That is
true conservatism.

307 250, I would add a caveat. If you live in a rural area and want a good multipurpose firearm, a shotgun is a relatively cheap useful firearm but you have to be willing to take the punishment from firing them on a regular basis.

A shotgun is not that useful without regular training with it as jams can occur in semi-autos if you leave them alone and pump actions can be short stroked and these cannot be fired at a lot of indoor ranges in suburban and urban areas. The recoil from 12 gage can be hard to take by those with short stature and slugs overpenetrate in places like apartments. A 20 gage is better in the recoil department but still has the overall firing power of two 44 mag shells going off at the same time (ht mas ayoob) and these are often available in youth stocks for small statured folks.

If you live in a suburban area, things like the AR, a pistol cartridge carbine, or a regular bolt action or lever action rifle in a .223 or higher cartridge can be useful. Antigun areas generally allow for now lever guns or bolt action rifles that can be fired pretty quickly with practice and a lot less sturm and drang.

This liberal gun confiscation scheme will only work if the Federal Government conducts house to house searches for firearms. That did not work out well for the British and it won't work well this time either.

You need to face facts. CT had a 15% compliance rate with their new "assault weapon" registration law. The difference there is that the State knows who did and more importantly, who did not comply with the law because they have a gun registration data base that goes back to 1993.

And they have not arrested a single person who failed to comply with the law even though they know exactly what guns they have and where they live.

Man that's scary. I finally got a dash cam because it's getting so crazy out there (CA). About 4 months ago I was on the freeway and a you-know-who had neglected to tie down the scrap wood in his pickup truck, the wind picked up a 4x8 sheet of plywood and like a frisbee, when sailing - right at my face. I accelerated and it cleared my roof by inches. He was too busy texting to look up and took the exit before I could catch his attention.
Then just 2 weeks go, another one had forgotten to put the tailgate up on his truck, and a lawnmower rolled out in the fast lane about 4 cars ahead of me. Dodged that one as well. If something happens, hopefully the camera can get the plate - although chances of them having a license, registration and laughably insurance are probably pretty low.
Can't sue a tree, but certainly the property owners or city... I'd be pissed

This also assumes as pointed out earlier today that those willing to fight back would stay on the defensive. If they decide to go on offense, who knows what would happen, particularly once they find the home addresses of the local authorities.

340 Conspiring to violate civil rights.

Yes. YES. Yaaaaasss, as they say.

The Second Amendment is, in my eyes, a Forever Clause situation. Like in Honduras whose Constitution forbids a politician even TALKING about creating a dictator-for-life. (This is how Zelaya got BTFO. It's a sore point with me because supporting the Honduras Constitution at Charles' Mansion is how I got banned out of there.)

If you are subverting the First or Second Amendments, you are an enemy of the people in my book. They should each end with codicils "except for attempts to amend these amendments".

363 "Doing nothing about America's gun violence crisis is simply unacceptable and it is time to stand with the American public on gun safety," the heads of 145 companies, including Levi Strauss, Twitter and Uber, say in the letter, which was shared with The New York Times.

The American public wants to keep their gun rights. That's why legislation doesn't get passed, or gets reversed later if it does. They're standing against the public, who by being armed, or even existing, make these sniveling elitists feel unsafe behind their guards and walls.

Agenda 21 is popular with the elite-- if we're concentrated into high-rises and have no cars, and they're out in the country in surrounded by fences and hundreds of square miles of nature, it will really keep the smelly regular people at a safe distance.

The more they try to disarm us, the more we need to be armed.
