What's Behind Fusion GPS' New Fiction That the Russian Spy Had to be Extracted Because of Worries About Trump?

From the Federalist, here's Mollie Hemingway's thoughts.

Note there is video of this at the Federalist link. Click on that if you'd prefer the video.

"There are two likely scenarios. One is inside the government: You had Obama's intel chiefs running this Russia operation. You also had people outside the government, such as Fusion GPS, which was claiming that it had sources highly placed in the Russian government," Hemingway said. "We know that these people were talking to the media to set forth this Russian collusion narrative.... Perhaps they're both trying to point fingers, and they might be trying to distract people by mentioning Trump."

Hemingway noted the leaks and stories may be part of a cover-up tied to ongoing investigations such as the DOJ inspector general's report or U.S. Attorney John Durham's criminal investigation.

"[They] are starting to expose some shenanigans or misbehavior by intelligence chiefs or those people outside the government who put forth this false and dangerous Russian collusion narrative," she said.

What narrative could the leakers/Fusion operatives be trying to squelch by pumping out this new fiction that the spy was extracted because of Trump?

Answer: They're trying to displace the truth. And the truth is that CIA operatives, almost certainly part of the Clapper/Brennan coup faction, began blabbing to reporters about this spy.

On that, at the Federalist, Lew Jan Olowski notes that it was CIA officials, trying to pin the DNC Email hack on Russia and claim Russia was doing favors for Trump, who gossiped to the media about their supposed "highly-placed source" and got the media digging to see if they could identify the man.

And Obama also helped out this spy.

UPDATE: If you're having trouble following this, I suggest you click on the link and read that article in full, rather than just my excerpt. I thought the article was pretty clear -- maybe my excerpt has cut out too much critical background.

In fact, however, officials "mishandled intelligence" and tried to extricate this source in 2016, before Trump even won the presidential election. The New York Times reports intelligence officials compromised this source by gossiping about him to news reporters.

"When intelligence officials revealed the severity of Russia's election interference with unusual detail ...the news media picked up on details about the C.I.A.'s Kremlin sources." Then, "C.I.A. officials … made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia. ...[T]he C.I.A. pressed again months later after more media inquiries."

President Obama compromised this source even further, right before Trump's inauguration. Obama authorized the public release and declassification of a report by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) alluding to this source's placement in the Russian government. The New York Times cites the public release of the DNI report as another reason for extracting the source.

...

In publishing [claims about a high-ranking spy saying that Putin did the hack to help his best friend Trump], intelligence officials publicly revealed they were privy to Putin's private motivations and policy process. This implied they either had a mole in Putin's inner circle or else were eavesdropping on Putin’s most sensitive discussions. Such a revelation would have been clever if it were false because this could cause Putin to distrust, investigate, or even purge members of his inner circle.

But now it appears the leak was true. Intelligence officials spoiled a bona fide top-level intelligence source operating inside an adversary foreign government just to damage their own American president and government.

See the article, because the writer then discusses officials' suspicions that this highly-ranked spy is actually a double-agent who's been seeding the US with disinformation on Putin's orders all along.

That's unproven. But it remains a possibility.

So let's recap:

In order to advance their Trump-Russia Conspiracy Theory, itself concocted to safely ensconce a very weak Democrat candidate on the White House throne and thereby safeguard their own power and freedom from prison, the Clapper/Brennan coup clique burned what they claim is a very high-level source close to Vladimir Putin himself. They gossiped and blabbed to reporters about him to the media, which began trying to figure out who the spy was from the breadcrumbs the Clapper/Brennan claque left behind.

This caused the CIA to shriek to the spy, in 2016, before Trump was president, that his life was now in danger and that they must therefore extract him from Russia.

The spy refused. Later, after Trump was elected, the CIA told him he was in even greater peril, and he agreed to leave Russia. (Or was it about the peril, or the payout? See speculations below.)

CIA/NSA officials outed details which could be used to identify an extremely highly-placed Russian spy, all to weaponize the intelligence services of the United States to swing a presidential election.

This is more than firable; this is jailable.

And now, fearing that this will be revealed in the upcoming Horowitz IG report and the Durham investigation -- both of which will be examining leaking in the IC and DOJ and FBI, this claque runs to reliable Fusion GPS stenographer Jim Sciutto and claims the spy was imperiled by Trump, the man they were so desperate to defeat they burned a Russian spy to do it, rather than by their own partisan animus, arrogance, incompetence, and God complexes.

Oh, and Obama was part of it all, too.

By the way, totally unrelated, but James Clapper works beside Jim Sciutto as an "analyst" at CNN.

Also totally unrelated, both are former Obama officials with a stake in protecting Obama as well as themselves.

Further Speculations: Hearing chatter along these lines. Mostly just questions:

Did the CIA deliberately burn this guy? Their leaks put a target on him, assuming he really was a spy against Russia and not a double-agent still working for Russia.

Did the CIA extract him by promising him that $1 million home in Virginia? Did they promise him, say, a $350,000 per year "stipend" if he came?

And why was the CIA so determined to get him out of Russia at that time, after he had already said he didn't feel endangered and seemed vindicated in that, by not being dead?

Was it Mueller? Did Mueller take over the counterintelligence probe (because that's what this whole Trump-Russia probe was claimed to be, for legal purposes) and say "Get me this spy you claim backs up your allegations"?

Why did the media and CIA get together to burn him again? Is it just a matter of shaping narratives -- "It wasn't us that burned him, it was Trump!" -- or is there something else going on?

By the way, on the theory that he might have been a double agent all along:

You know who would refuse an urgent demand for extraction, knowing that his life was in no actual danger? A double-agent who knows he's serving Putin, not a spy afraid that Putin has detected him.

Just saying.

By the way, this high-ranking spy, as the media calls him, has been living in the US for two years, not far from Bob Mueller's DC offices.

So Mueller has interviewed this guy and taken all of his "hot intelligence" about Trump.

And still none of this stuff can be verified, and still there is no evidence for any Trump-Russia conspiracy.

1. Putin ran a double agent and Brennan et al. were completely taken in.

2. Putin ran a double agent and Brennan et al. decided that he would be useful for their own purposes, so they agreed with Putin to shield him in return for services rendered.

3. Brennan et al. are themselves double agents.

1 is mere incompetence. 2 and 3 should involve firing squads, but won't. And this is why I am cynical and depressed these days.

One benefit of this story is that they are establishing that Trump can't be trusted with secrets/intelligence.

That helps the whole coup team, particularly Comey who repeatedly lied to Trump about not being under investigation.

Hmm, that motive makes sense. Although considering the CIA/NSA/DNI jerks knew there was no one who could credibly back up those allegations (not unless he was a very credible liar), that sort of doesn't add up.

76 >>President Obama compromised this source even further, right before Trump's inauguration. Obama authorized the public release and declassification of a report by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) alluding to this source's placement in the Russian government. The New York Times cites the public release of the DNI report as another reason for extracting the source.

One day it would be nice if there was an attempt at an accounting of all the damage Obama did before he walked out the door.

How many documents were shredded and erased between the election and inauguration of Trump, how much intel was leaked/unmasked just to ensure that Trump walked into an unholy clusterf#ck that had to be addressed before Trump could even attempt to implement his own policies.

I'm guessing it was like the Clinton aides' vandalization on their last day x1000.

78 Nobody goes to jail for any of this.

Back when I was an active, flaming alcoholic, 18+ years sober now, I was going to jail a lot and spending a great deal of time in courtrooms. Naturally, I had to wait my turn. There were usually lots of us: drunks, addicts, petty thieves, wife beaters, you know, the usual crowd when the docket is full.

I once saw a young woman, a mother of young kids no less, get 30 days in county for shoplifting in Walmart. There she was: orange jumpsuit, shackles, just like the rest of us. The stuff she slipped in her purse--makeup, I think--couldn't have been worth more than $20, $30 tops. I mean, sure, she was guilty--we all were--but it struck me as a little harsh at the time, but hey, theft is theft.

Because the news is like Pravda. You can't examine it looking for what is going on, not like there are facts, or that they matter.

After the Mueller fiasco, they ran away from "muh Russia!"

And now here they are back at it.

Those who believe that Huber is coming suggest that there is a big report coming out, and the Intel people and the previous admin are in trouble big time, so this is battlespace prep to minimize any impact. Hillary's reset button also got ~$145M to her foundation (illegal charity, grifter fund) ... as well as those expensive speeches. (and there was the tech transfer approval for Skolkovo from Silicon Valley also a BFD).

Would double/triple spy agree with Mueller to tell the lies that Mueller could force Manafort or Flynn (or Stone or what his name) to tell? Sure, if he is not so much "spy" as DeepState globalist intermediary. After Trump got elected, he was perhaps a liability to DeepState, or just one of them that promised the info would be released if they murdered him.

I recall that, but "broken windows" policing theory (which was such a huge benefit to NYC as you'll recall) says these lesser transgressions are exactly the ones you go after without mercy. Also, how does one justify prosecuting Navy sailors for a selfie in their submarines (accidentally including some secret something or other) and send him to prison, while not prosecuting James Comey for deliberately releasing government secrets?

Issa didn't lose election for his erstwhile seat, but he would have. The Reds have long targeted him, and spent a LOT of money here to get rid of him. He barely won re-election the previous time (by a few thousand votes, IIRC), and the handwriting was on the wall as this district becomes more and more Red. His chances of getting re-elected were effectively zero.

He was in an LGBTXXX play on Broadway and gave an extended interview on his LGBTness and how important it is for all actors who have ever dabbled in same sex coziness to blab it out and be heard and change the culture. It makes me feel dirty to look at someone with those opinions and find them cute, even for a second. So. Please. Some cursory background checks for the beefcakes prior to posting.

Same with the whole fake dossier. "We have to study this dossier to see if Trump is a Russian stooge". No you don't, YOU faked the dossier, YOU have the dirty deals with Putin, YOUR candidate Hillary is the one on the take from Putin and is transferring uranium and military tech ...

So of course CNN pushes the spy out in the news, prepping for him to reveal "Putin loved Trump", which would be a lie to cover for the DeepState/Putin deals (flexible reset). Putin and China both want Trump out, imo, since it makes America weaker. (though conceivably Putin thinks Trump believes more in sovereign nations, but my guess is Putin would have arranged a seat at the Globalist Round Table, and/or the Bilderbergs would have provided for him, idk)

I can't think of another historical example where a group in such a weak position, militarily and logistically, has spent so many decades working so hard to antagonize a group that is in such a perfect position to wreck their shit.

Power within a culture - which they do have - by definition works inside it. Nobody else gives a shit. They've forgotten this in their multi-decade othering project.

I think the writing was on the wall 15+ years ago when they actually thought we'd sit on their hands over the initial design of the Flight 93 memorial, etc. The masks were off even then if you knew what to look for.

That's precision. Hard to believe a time existed where we couldn't put a 500 pounder right up a jihadi's ass without such precision.

356 From what I can tell from this is the 'spy' Oleg Smolenkov was an aide to the Russkie Ambassador to the US from 99-08. Yuri Ushakov, who became Foreign Minister for Putin.

Ushakov is a diplomat, and not even intel. There is no way Smolenkov had any access to the stuff he claimed to. So when his handler started leaning on him to find intel about muh Russia meddling, he made shit up. Brennan ran with this, unvetted, and cut out everyone else.

This was one of the major things that started the CI investigation against the Trump campaign. It was all based on BOGINT.

The world is going to burn to a crisp in 10 years and we waste time arguing about who illegally spied on who. Let's just agree that Orangemanbad and move on.

365 343 I blame Wild Bill Donovan, OSS chief & father of the modern CIA. He insisted the OSS and later the CIA recruit chiefly from Ivy League universities, which in turn gave us generations of know-nothing asshats & egomaniacs. There have been exceptions, of course. James Angleton comes to mind, but even he was erratic at times and booze did him no favors.

He WAS charged under the espionage act. The judge told him that the thought he was mostly just stupid. Since a guy found the phone which was unlocked and who knew what he was seeing, there was no dissemination. Defense went with "selfies" and the jury came back guilty on the lower end. In the old days he would have been shot. His mother was a brilliant media advocate as well.

Thinking about what you posted, this is the first time elements of that really weird story have started to make some kind of sense to me. Up until now, I would read what was in the papers and be left with "you know none of that story makes any sense at all, as they're telling it."

Democrats think security is a joke that only tiresome rightwing squares with a stick up their ass care about. They think they're living the movie Stripes and everything can be taken care of by slobs heroically fixing things at the last second.

That's why the DNC e-mails got downloaded and leaked.

That's why John Podesta's e-mail account was breached with a simple trick.

That's why all the security clearance applications submitted to the US government are in rhe possession of China.

That's why 20 or so US agents in China were exposed and executed, almost certainly because of Hillary' unsecured toilet server.

376 I'm throwing this in here. The pictures of the cute actors posted for the "Ettes" are almost always gay men. Every single one that I think looks gay (and most of the do) turn out to be, indeed, gay. Even Patrick Breen, who I had never heard of but look kinda, possibly, hopefully straight, is GAY.

Personally I find Larry the Cable Guy cute!

Being in the art world I have lots of gay friends, and you are right about how most pretty men are gay! Kind of the opposite of lesbians. I prefer my men to be manly, not the type who would be found in gay bars.
