Cezanne seasons.jpg

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
Paul Cézanne

Cezanne's father, who thought he was an idiot for wanting to be an artist, allowed him to paint the walls in one room of his home in Aix-en-Provence, This is early in his career, and looks nothing like his famous stuff.

Nowadays he could make a fortune as a house painter!

Here they are in the correct order but badly rendered...

Heh. But unfortunately, your depictions of the seasons gets shoved to the sidelines when you got alligator rain gods, Lady Serpent Skirt and a dismembered moon goddess. Banal seasons can't really compete with that.

Posted by: Kris at September 10, 2019 09:45 AM (OyyDO)

54 I like this more than most Cézanne's. His better known (or more highly regarded) paintings look stilted and have a dull chalky appearence. This one is more attractive for my taste. Using the four seasons (cue the Vivaldi) is a classic subject and Cézanne carries it off in a subtle but pleasing manner.

"Nationwide injunctions, by contrast, create an unfair, one-way system in which the democratically accountable government must fend off case after case to put its policy into effect, while those challenging the policy need only find a single sympathetic judge..."

It's fascinating how the NRA never did/does that. One would almost think they know that actual successes might lead to fewer opportunities to beg for $500 to pay for luxury hotels and italian suits.

They were all for reclassifying a plastic stock as a machinegun, though, and supporting the move to make national rifle owners having to destroy said piece of plastic.

Sort of. There's a winter blend sold across N America, that in conjunction with whatever warming system the vehicle uses (back in the day one pulled a knob to "warm" diesels in the winter) allows for fairly cold weather operation.

It's the "everything everywhere is a crisis" mentality. One or two or 5 kids dying in a car, yes, very tragic. It does. They call it "jelling". It's striking to watch when it happens to a truck. The truck just goes slower and slower until it comes to a halt. That put heaters on the tanks but sometimes even those can't keep up. And that's where it quits.

I have no children, so I'm not sensitized to thinking about them in the back seat. That said, while I have forgotten windbreakers and umbrellas in my cars, I cannot imagine how I could forget living creatures like my cats. Besides, I put a sunshade up in the back window 10 months of the year when I park the car; so I'm in the back seat when I do that.

As for the trunk release, I had to use it recently. My car had been damaged in a flood, so to keep all the windows and sunroof from opening by mistake, I disconnected the battery. However, there was no manual trunk release in the passenger compartment. To reconnect the battery, I had to lower the rear seat, squirm into the trunk, and pull the inside release lever to open the trunk. Not the best engineering, BMW.

167 Our nanny state government attitude stems in part to the fact that women can vote. And they will vote with their feelings more than men will. Thus they discount the dollar factor of fixing such a small amount of deaths compared to the cost of the fix. Especially the cost to freedom.

No offense ladies but women do vote on things under a different basis than men. Not saying it's better or worse but I believe it has lead us to a more nanny state governing which tends to take away freedom and liberty. And stifle exploration, curiosity, self reliance.

I have 2 stories on that.

Bought a new car back in 2004 and one of the sales pitches was the dude got in the trunk and closed himself in and pulled the release to show me that you had an "emergency exit."

I've rented a couple GM vehicles where when you shut the car off and opened the door, it DING DINGed and posted up an alert on the dash telling me to "Check the Back Seat."

I know a guy whose son did the reverse to his outboards. Twin Yamaha 300s full of diesel.

No, you can't use the boat you moron.

174 Some words of advice. Do not engage in any sexual relationships with massage therapists, yoga instructors, fit chick/trainers or the resident gym thot. Eventually, if they feel they've been jilted by you, they'll get you run off from the gym/athletic club/spa. Some broads need to toughen up. They want to play like a man but not suffer any consequence. Oh well, onto the next gym and a fresh batch of women.

176 The graphic on the glow in the dark inside the trunk in case you get kidnapped by your non-imaginary nemeses emergency release is always good for a chuckle.
Once you effect your escape, you should run. Away, I suppose, not just around in circles. After you update your "status", naturally.

I suspect a LOT of these "little sizzler" cases are people who secretly want to be rid of the responsibility, mess, and fuss of having kids. Or, as pointed out above, people stopping off for drugs or to visit a bar or lover.

In other words, people who (a) should not be breeding and (b) should not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.

Sort of. There's a winter blend sold across N America, that in conjunction with whatever warming system the vehicle uses (back in the day one pulled a knob to "warm" diesels in the winter) allows for fairly cold weather operation.

184 167 Our nanny state government attitude stems in part to the fact that women can vote.

195 Ok, parents forget their kids in the car... what exactly is the solution here supposed to accomplish?

Is it supposed to allow a kid that is too young to be able to open the car door to get out if they need to? How do you reliably communicate that to a kid that young?

Or is it supposed to alert anyone around that there's a kid in a car that might need rescuing? Imagine being a passing adult in this scenario.. you take the kid out of the car and... do what exactly? You don't know how long the parent is going to be gone, or even what they look like to be able to go find them. Also better hope that the person passing by is actually a good Samaritan, rather than just someone who'd try to lift any valuables that you might have also left in the car. Or worse.

I don't really see any of these solutions actually solving this problem with any regularity and not creating extra other problems.

___

$150 is cheap? $400 or $500 for high end cars.

--------------

Yeah. What a ripoff. I think if you made the fob the size of a large dildo the buying public would like that.

well, you could always go the smartphone app route, so that you can't get into your car if there are network issues.

naw. nobody would be that dumb.

335 How many times do people have to get it in the neck to realize that Democrats are a cult, not a party?

If you're in NC's Ninth District and you're voting for the Democrat, you're voting for their agenda. Period.

Take a good look at how all these other frauds posing as "moderates" have voted while in Washington. Look at how they stand on all the issues on the Democrats extreme agenda of destruction.

I mean, holy crap. This is the kind of mindless thinking that's going to destroy our country. We know EXACTLY what Democrats are going to do, and none of it is good.

This is a great economy and people are finally restoring some respect for our nation. How anyone would want to kill that is inexplicable.

US household income finally matches 1999 peak, while poverty rate hits lowest point since 2001
