Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Sunday Overnight Open Thread (8/18/19)Second, scumbags have learned to weaponize Facebook’s lax stupidity. They simply find someone they don’t like, and then report their posts. Nobody with a brain ever checks to see if the complaint is legit or not, so they just block the bully’s target. It’s a wonderful tool for dickless cheese weasels to feel powerful. Larry Correia Quote II I’m posting this quotation because I think many of us could be reaching a saturation point: how can the ugliness, lies, and irresponsibility of the Left and the Democrats possibly get worse? It’s so tempting to just shut it all out, to inure ourselves to the nightmares that are called “politics” in the 21st century. But we simply can’t. Susan Quinn Quote III These are the things that I teach — it says love your neighbor as yourself. It doesn’t say love the whole world as yourself. It doesn’t say love everyone as yourself. You know why? Because it’s so hard to love your neighbor. It’s easy to love everyone. The left loves everyone. They crap on their neighbors. Almost every leftist is a mean human being. There are a lot of decent liberals. There are some mean conservatives, but every leftist is mean. There’s a meanness at the core. Dennis Prager Quote IV “Any online community that is explicitly pro-free speech will inevitably become right-leaning,” “This is because in the free market of ideas right-leaning ideas win. Which is why we see these left-wing tech companies censoring. No one is buying their progressive, globalist bullshit anymore, so it must be force-fed down the throats of users and dissent must be stamped out with the iron fist of censorship.” Gab CEO Andrew Torba Congressional rabble rousers Omar and Talib are pretty quiet at the moment. The Palestinian Authority is banning all LGBT members from activities in the West Bank. The ban comes after the group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society, which supports Palestinians who identify as a part of the gay community, was planning to hold a gathering for its members at the end of August, but won't be able to anymore. Their event was supposed to be held in Nablus. Luay Zreikat, spokesperson for the PA Police, told the Jerusalem Post that activities from the organization are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.” Of course they aren't satisfied. Their 15 minutes of fame are about to end. Lawyers for late financier Jeffrey Epstein are not happy with the autopsy conclusion of the New York City medical examiner’s office and have issued a challenge demanding answers and accountability. The chief medical examiner concluded that Epstein hung himself in his own jail cell, ending his life. Several question marks still hover over the controversial millionaire’s death, however. Sleeping guards falsified records after failing to check on Epstein before his death, and several broken bones were found in his neck that could be indicative of homicide by strangulation. He's dead. The world is a better place. Let it go Often we hear complaints from the left about wages and salaries. They are pretty quiet now when numerous university presidents make as much or more as the POTUS. Good work if you can get it. Dozens of public university presidents make more money in a single year than does the president of the United States, according to a recent report. Published by The Chronicle of Higher Education, the report gathered salary data from more than 1,400 university chief executives from both private and public institutions, and ultimately determined that 179 public university presidents make as much or more each year than the leader of the free world, who makes $400,000 annually, although President Donald Trump has not taken a salary during his tenure. "It is ridiculous that university presidents make more money than the president of the entire country" Tweet This The Left and America. The gulf is too vast. Some time ago, I noted the irreconcilable difference between the Left and the rest of America: the majority of our fellow citizens believe America is an inherently good nation that continues its pursuit of a more perfect union; the Left believes America is an inherently evil nation that must be transformed fundamentally into an oppressive socialist state—at best. Voting machines weren’t the only thing getting penetrated at DEF CON this year. When most people think of the Internet of Things (IoT), they think about light switches, voice controllers, and doorbell cameras. But over the past several years, another class of devices has also gained connectivity—those used for sexual pleasure. One such device, the Lovense Hush, advertised as the “world’s first teledildonic buttplug,” became the subject of a Sunday morning DEF CON talk this year after a hacker named “smea” managed to exploit not only the device and its associated computer dongle, but software used with it for social interaction (read: people remotely playing with each other’s buttplugs). The Welsh seaside town of Porthcawl must have one hell of a problem with their park's restrooms. New restrooms will feature high tech anti-sex measures. H/T CBD The Welsh seaside town of Porthcawl is planning to install anti-sex public toilets that would spray occupants with water and sound an alarm. Violent movement sensors would automatically open the doors and sound high-pitched alarms, with fine water jets soaking the interior. Weight-sensitive floors would ensure only one user could be in a cubicle at a time, to safeguard against “inappropriate sexual activity and vandalism”. Porthcawl town council is spending £170,000 on the futuristic toilets in Griffin Park, according to WalesOnline. The planning documents detail a range of security features to deter rough sleeping, including an audible warning, combined with lights and heating being switched off.Sex in the shower with loud noises. I suspect there are people who enjoy that. Former Vice President Joe Biden corrected himself again during remarks he made at a fundraiser in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Friday night when referencing a speech he delivered in Iowa. Biden, who often recalls President Trump’s press conference remarks at Trump Tower on the 2017 Charlottesville riots as the reason he entered the race, described to attendees at the 275-person event the rise of white nationalism under Trump, according to a pool report. I don't care how much "care" has been put into it. There is no way I'm pay $10.00 for a cup of coffee. You, on the other hand might. And that is what makes this country so damn great! Every morning, bleary-eyed New Yorkers line up to spend $2, maybe $3 on coffee at bodegas and street carts. Even if people Starbucks, or one of the city’s smaller, sophisticated shops, they’re likely to top out at about $5 for a caffeine fix. But at the East Village Japanese café Hi-Collar, one type of coffee — the Aguadulce brew from the Colombian importer and roaster Devoción — starts at $10, and goes up to $12.60, if you’d like it brewed via siphon. (It’s part of a temporary takeover at the café that will last until mid-September.) The arrival of a $10 cup of coffee in New York is not exactly unprecedented, but still: What’s the deal? Is this, like the $2,000 omelet and a $185 sando, a marketing stunt that also manages to take advantage of people with more money than sense, or can a single cup of coffee really be worth the same amount of money as a month of Apple Music? Meet the new fashion, same as the old fashion. When I was 13, I wore my dad’s clothes to school every day. Men’s overalls, stinky old t-shirts, a flannel shirt tied around my waist…sometimes Dr Martens, sometimes too-big combat boots. If I was feeling bold, I’d ignore my insecurities about my bony knees and skinny legs and wear a skirt and tights with my unisex boots. It was called ‘grunge.’ No one ever thought of it as ‘gender bending’: it was just what we wore. Apparently, those of us who came of age in the Nineties, smoking on the corner instead of going to class, our second-hand itchy wool sweaters soaking up the stench of rain and cigarettes, were revolutionaries. This week, the New York Times, one of the world’s most-respected sources of journalism (or so they’ll tell you), published a story about ‘nonbinary fashion.’ Based on some quick and dirty detective work (Google, you guys. I used Google), its author Hayley Krisher appears old enough to have caught the Nineties, so I’m left to assume she’s just never worn a t-shirt beforeNon-binary fashion, who would have thunk? From the game of football to a business of Woke. The NFL continues its path towards Wokeness. As reported on Wednesday by The Root, Jay-Z recently announced a deal with the NFL through his Roc Nation company, to advise the embattled league on entertainment and the Super Bowl, and something fuzzy about social justice. During said presser, Jay did not do well when repeatedly asked about former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who has been effectively blackballed from the league for kneeling for black lives during the 2017 NFL season. He defensively responded to questions about Kaepernick with statements such as: “I think we’re past kneeling...I think it’s time for action.” Jay previously owned a share of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, in which he purchased a $1 million stake in 2004, but even that deal was controversial in that many believe it sped up the hyper-gentrification tearing up his beloved, native Brooklyn.Rush Limbaugh must be rolling his eyes. Quite frankly, I fear for the nation.
We have now entered a time when people feel that it is perfectly okay to jail, beat and murder people who happen to hold different opinions. They think, yes, people who voted for Donald Trump should be killed. They're just fine with that idea. I would argue that the world is no better after his death than it was before his death. I would also argue that the world could have been a better place had the justice system gotten details from him to take down the operation he was involved in. But if his death allows those involved in the operation to continue the operation unabated, then what exactly was gained here? Sure, one man involved in the operation is dead. Great. But the operation goes on with no consequences for anyone, but one man, and all the victims and future victims still suffering. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at August 18, 2019 10:15 PM (7A4qQ) 28

We are still a shining city on a hill.
Posted by: ALH at August 18, 2019 10:22 PM Not sure we are anymore. I think we are closer to the Rome in the movie "Gladiator". Maximus so believes in the idea of Rome, but he does not know the reality of what Rome has become. The idea of the United States is great. But what the United States has become today: the entire Democrat Party being an anti-American party, half the GOP agreeing with the Democrats, the entire mass media working propaganda for the Democrats, all of Hollywood working propaganda for the Democrats, all the Tech companies enacting censorship of Democrat enemies, domestic terror groups like 'antifa' being allowed by local and federal governments to operate without consequence... We are hanging on by a thread with only one man barely holding back the mob, with all his enemies just waiting for even a tiny show of weakness before they pounce. The Hong Kong protesters are like Maximus, believing in the idea of the United States, but not knowing the reality. Marcus Aurelius: And what is Rome, Maximus? Maximus: I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light. Marcus Aurelius: Yet you have never been there. You have not seen what it has become. ... There was once a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish... it was so fragile. And I fear that it will not survive the winter. I read through Dennis Prager's commentary on Exodus and then I read Dario Fernandez's debunking of multicultural Spain under the Moslems.
Fernandez's book was mostly against the Moslems, obviously, but he also made some observations about Sephardic Jewish life in the ghetto. If you were a Jew and you broke the Sephardic law, you got killed. Exile was a tool in the toolbox; a Jew getting exiled for blasphemy against the prophets might well be blaspheming against Muslim prophets too which meant death. Fernandez documents that Jews got stoned for adultery in Spain as well - directly. So when Prager says there's no record of any Jew actually being executed according to Torah law, this is self-serving bullshit. Fernandez documents plenty in Spain alone. Fernandez also suspects it happened in the Byzantine Empire, since there's a law in the Justinian code forbidding Jews from stoning people, which Justinian I wouldn't have had to mention if nobody was doing it. Prager's claims didn't pass the smell test in the first place. If God's Law says "if X happens, do Y" and human nature is constant, then somewhere somehow, Y is going to happen. This makes me not trust Prager, and that sucks. Posted by: boulder t'hobo at August 18, 2019 10:37 PM (ykYG2) 80

The funny thing is that Her Shrillness wouldn't have been elected in any of those countries, either (except maybe France... they have a weird setup that only the French can understand). In countries with a "prime minister" (most of the ones they pretend to admire), said minister is chosen by his party, NOT by the voters. Outside of his own district ("riding"), no Canadian who wasn't a member of his party got to vote for Pierre Elliott Bieber. If we had a similar system here, Boehner, McConnell, and all their fellow GOP insiders would have picked the next President. Now, that would not have been Trump, granted, but it damned sure wouldn't have been Hillary Clinton. The threat to "move to Canada" is just idiotic on its face. But what gives me hope is that, with half the GOP and almost the entire press lined up against him, Trump won. It wasn't just one man, it was all of the voters behind him.
Posted by: nerdygirl at August 18, 2019 11:02 PM I would feel more hope for the nation overall and the future if I felt that Donald Trump winning in 2016 was some sort of rejection by the American people of the Left's rule under the Obama Administration. But I just do not get the feeling that it was. And 2016 was a bit of luck it seems in that the Democrats ran a poor candidate and were so overconfident that they did not put 100% effort into winning. But since Donald Trump won, it has actually energized the left even more, to the point that they are using Big Tech to censor conservative voices and spike any news that is bad for their narrative. I guess I am a bit cynical, because I saw what happened here in Michigan in 2018, where voters here went completely batshit crazy and elected a Democrat Governor and turned a Congressional seat Democrat that was GOP for 16 years prior. So I see that and worry that all the toss-up States Donald Trump won by the slimmest of margins in 2016 could flip to Democrats in 2020, either by Democrats being more active or stealing them with voter fraud. I dunno. I sincerely hope that there is some kind of conservative movement beginning (i.e. the Walkaway movement, more Blacks supporting Trump, etc), but until I see it at the polls in 2020, I'm cynical. Minimum wage vs the tricycle
-Minimum wage jobs are starter jobs, intended to teach people how to show up on time, how to perform steadily, how to maintain focus on the job. -The tricycle is a starter vehicle, intended to teach you how to balance, how to operate a machine, and how to pay attention to your surroundings. -The minimum wage job doesn't require unique or valuable skills. The world's very best employee in that job won't show much greater value than a decently trained newby. -The tricycle will never reach highway speeds or keep you warm and dry in all kinds of weather. The world's greatest tricyclist isn't going to go much faster than your normal kid. -If you work 2 minimum wage jobs to double your income, it's still 2 low value jobs. -2 trikes are not going to be faster than 1 trike, but it will have 2 seats. -The minimum wage job was never intended to be a living wage, nor to support a family. -A tricycle was never meant to be a minivan. -A minimum wage job was never intended to be a lifelong job, or to lead to retirement. -A tricycle was never intended to be a plane or a submarine. If you want a living wage, and a growing bank account, you can't park yourself in a minimum wage job. You're sitting on a tricycle and it won't get you where you want to go. Dunno best current estimate, but not long ago it was estimated that 5% - 5% - of people on minimum wage were heads of household. And of course in almost any place in the country, a head of household like that would be eligible for a list of public benefits that goes on for pages. Thus negating the "meaning" of minimum wage, even in their case.

The $10 cup of coffee goes well with the $15 pack of cigarettes. Sure ... they won't let you smoke your cigarettes anywhere, even after they have robbed you blind with taxes, but I don't anticipate it will be that long before the dreaded evil nature of coffee is realized in New York and they start taxing it so that 7-11 is right up around $12/cup for their coffee. Exactly the unions are pushing this big time cuz it will raise everybody's pay. But they have lost so much power I can't recall the percentage they have today but it's pretty low. The idea of raising the minimum wage to $15 is freaking crazy. It would start a spiral, I know if my intern that used to get 825 an hour is now getting $15 an hour, I'd want a hell of a lot more 4 where I've been working for 30 years and getting not that much more above that. Plaintiff Y.G.C. is a young woman from Guatemala seeking asylum in the United States. In May 2019, a man whom Y.G.C. believes is a gang member began threatening her while she worked nights at a taco stand. The man would follow Y.G.C. and threatened to kill her if she did not agree to be "his woman." The man also threatened that he would kill any other man seen with Y.G.C. In addition to these threats, the suspected gang member wanted Y.G.C. to extort her boss. 35. Y.G.C. attempted to file a criminal complaint against the man threatening her, but multiple police officers told Y.G.C. that they could not help her because she did not know the man's real name--just the nickname he told her to call him. Because the man continued to threaten Y.G.C. after she attempted to file a complaint with the police, Y.G.C. fled Guatemala in June 2019. 36. Y.G.C. traveled through Mexico en route to the United States. She entered the United States without inspection on July 16, 2019 and was quickly detained by U.S. immigration officials. ******* So, she has a stalker. Florida Woman strikes again.
https://preview.tinyurl.com/yysnamt8 Florida woman sentenced after pulling alligator from her pants during traffic stop: officials A Florida woman who pulled an alligator out of her yoga pants during a traffic stop pleaded guilty to illegally possessing wild animals and was sentenced to probation, authorities said last week. Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, was in the passenger seat of a car pulled over in May for running a stop sign in Punta Gorda, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said at the time. Machan-Le Quire, along with 22-year-old driver Michael Clemons, initially claimed they were trying to collect snakes and frogs from underneath an overpass. The deputy was given permission to search the bags in the trunk and subsequently found 41 3-stripe turtles in a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" backpack. When the deputy asked if the pair had anything else, Machan-Le Quire pulled out a 1-foot alligator from her pants. Machan-Le Quire was charged with possessing an America alligator, possessing more than one turtle per day, transporting more than one turtle or turtle eggs and one count of possessing a softshell turtle, the Miami Herald reported, citing court records. --SNIP-- Talk about a snapping vagina! That there is a law about possessing more than one turtle per day? That possessing forty-one turtles is only one count of "possessing a softshell turtle"? That real turtles were stored in a TMNT bag? Or that, not finding a matching cartoon-alligator bag, someone said "yeah, I'll just stuff this live gator in my yoga pants"? Posted by: mikeski at August 19, 2019 04:26 AM (P1f+c) 467

That "journalists" worship the Father of Lies is as good an explanation as more secular ones.
The question is why they Worship the Father of Lies. Joe Biden gave us insights into this when he stated that they are interested in Truth not facts. Sandy said basically the same thing when she said that Morality is more important than facts. "Truth" and "Morality" are theological terms straight from Christianity. When Biden said Truth, he clearly wasn't talking about Jesus Christ and the Gospel. When Sandy talked about "Morality" she wasn't invoking the Law of Moses or showing an obedience to the a transcendent moral authority of the Creator God. They went pure post-modern, where they corrupt Truth to mean "truth claims for what is most expedient to me right now" and "Morality" they mean "my personal values as of right now". They use "Truth" and "Morality" because they are wearing the skins of those they have slain and demand the respect that was earned by the former owner. Journalists therefore, absent any other narrative and trained to not even recognize the meta narrative, live in the Now, their values are in the Now, and their truth claims are in the Now. An analog would be if they were dropped in a raft in the middle of the south Atlantic. Given only the horizon, no GPS or any other navigational guides, their only direction is determined by uninformed guesses, and the opinions of those who are just as lost with them. They will go wherever the winds blow them, or what ever advice they get from someone who convinces them that they are an authority. Biden is evil and corrupt and will bend things to benefit him and his sponsor/clients. Like professors and actors who pretend to be authorities with strong opinions, journalists will be attracted to them and their opinions regardless of the content or what inspired the opinions. Since they don't know where they are, they don't have any way to test the veracity of the statements. When in a bubble of other fellow believers, and trained since youth that any other opinion, regardless of facts or support are wrong, they are thrown into a spiritual crisis when the facts don't support the claims. So Biden, comes out and says "facts don't matter" because his "truths" are all that matter. This is how you get a cult and end up dead in the tropic sun. The Scopes "Monkey" Trial was framed as the battle between "Scientific Facts" and "Biblical Truth"
It may have been framed that way, but Origins cannot be proven through science because there is no way to test. The Big Bang is not reproducable. All combatants in the Origins debate have the same evidence. It is the underlying assumptions that guide the explanations of the evidence. For example, everyone can see the Grand Canyon and see evidence of millions of dead things, buried rapidly in mud layers all over the earth. The Creationist says "Great Flood" guided by the eye-witness narrative of Scriptures. The Evolutionist says billions of years and that enough water had to run one mile uphill long enough to erode a mile deep trench. So where does the water come from (because that amount isn't evident today). What caused the Kaibob uplift (because what explains the rise in elevation). Evolutionists must insert all kinds of imaginative miracles to overcome objections to their explanation. None of the imaginative miracles can be reproduced in a lab, therefore it can't be science, just good story telling. Creationists can't recreate the Flood, and don't agree on the source of all of the water, so it can't be science because it too can't be reproduced. Again, everyone has the same evidence, there is just a myriad of different explanations based on unverifiable and untestable assumptions. What is truly painful is watching your lemmings, 90% of who are at the edge of financial disaster anyway, cheer when you wish for recession. It almost make me want one too for their edification . Except I will be expected to pick up the tab for them.
Because Mom, Dad and Uncle Sam has always been there to bail them out of any jam. Look at how they whine about school loans and want someone else to make them go away. A couple decades ago, the people of that time were whining about adjustable rate mortgages and wanted someone to swoop in and save them from their own mistakes. it is human nature to want all of the authority and none of the responsibility. The reason why we aren't Venezuela Right Now is because of the trillions of dollars of debt piled on a rapidly inflated currency. Few people alive know what a Recession looks like. We have buried most of the people who suffered through the Great Depression, but all can tell tales of how those survivors are remarkably frugal as a hard taught lesson that never left them. A recession would be different in the US this time, because of the culture change through the dilution of a culture that was cooperative and high trust to a culture that is exploitative and low trust. This time around, barred windows and guns will be the featured players in the economy, not soup kitchens and mutual benefit clubs like Shriners, Rotary and Moose. We asked for this catastrophic failure, and we will get it good and hard. Posted by: Blue Bird of F'ing Joy at August 19, 2019 07:31 AM (lD3vL) 547
Everyone knows that "Antifa" was created by Vladimir Lenin? Same flag, same purposes, ie global commmunism? Here's a link replete with pics
https://tinyurl.com/y4f8rd8e I heard someone on the radio this morning asking what it was that they wanted, what was their goal. The left media is doing a great job of not "bothering" people with the origins and goals of antifa. Of course Lenin just defined anyone not Leninist-communist as "fascists." So "antifa" is just for the advancement of global communist of the Leninist variety. I don't know if these pasty ambition-free basement losers understand that, but the organizers do. Thank you Jewells for continuing to create beautiful things. Just bought another one, maybe someday I can give it to someone.

Is this the new season of The Twilight Zone? Because I'm honestly not as charismatic as Burgess Meredith, so there'll be a lot of scenes of "waiting to refresh screens" and checking IP configuration.
