"You know, we (meaning the federal government) has given a lot of money over the years to fix problems that never seem to get fixed. Like education, for example. Think of the billions of dollars being spent on public schools compared with the functional illiterates our schools produce regularly and yet money continues to be spent. "Or, what about our blighted urban centers? Like Baltimore. Once again, literally *billions* of dollars in aid has been given, year after year, to the city of Baltimore, but it's still a corrupt, crime-ridden sh*thole. And nobody seems to be asking the obvious questions, why is this happening? Why do we keep spending money and nothing improves? "This sounds to me like a good project for a journalist to work on. That is, follow the money. Start with whatever appropriations committee makes the decision, find out how much money was allocated, how and where the funds were delivered to the city, what Baltimore city official(s) were authorized to disburse the funds, what departments or individuals received the funds, and how were the funds spent. "I'm curious because we used to do the same thing with corrupt, Third World sh*tholes, i.e. give them billions of dollars in aid year after year and no matter how much we gave them, they would still remain corrupt sh*tholes. Somebody finally figured out that the money was not being spent on the alleviation of poverty, but was being diverted to the bank account of whatever corrupt kleptocrat was in charge. "So I wonder about Baltimore. Elijah Cummings is supposedly a rich man, so how did he get so rich on a Congressman's salary? Did he do anything other than the usual "insider trading" type stuff that our elected officials can do but we can't because it's illegal? I don't know, but maybe it's one of those things a journalist should be looking into. That is, when they're not too busy looking for white supremacists under every bed and vilifying a high school kid for wearing the wrong hat."

For Laura who has metastastic breast cancer and told she has 3 years to live Other continuing health issues and requested prayers for healing: Fixeupperupper’s mothers-kidney function. Michelle’s son- continued recovery from car accident. Sock_rat_eez, for things to go smoothly so that he can have reversal of colostomy. USNTakin and wife-he asked particularly that she have relief from pain, but strength and relief from pain for both of them. For Allison- in her 30’s-for complete healing after a stroke after having a baby. For healing for Josephistan’s mom who has difficulty with daily tasks and is anxious and withdrawn. Needs rough places made smooth. 7/3-For Leslie-for spiritual strength and comfort after death of daughter who died from flu-one year ago February 7/8-Beltway Elite asked for prayers for their mother who had stroke at end of June, leaving her paralyzed on right side. Thankfully she remembers herself and details, but faces lengthy period of recovery and physical therapy. Prayers for quick recuperation, management of other health conditions and for Beltway Elite’s sister to act with compassion. 7/13-Winston, a dreg of asked for prayers for his dear friend Dee, who fell and broke right arm near shoulder while on a road trip. Four months earlier had broken wrist, 2nd time cancer survivor. Leaves behind wife and teenage daughters. Prayers for grieving family and friends. 7/24-Jane D’oh’s son has swollen knee and torn meniscus. Going to see an orthopedic doctor. Needs treatment and complete healing. 7/24-Vic’s brother had a heart attack. Stent put in. Needs to have heart surgery. Prayers for the procedure 7/25-Cookie, friend of Artisanal’ette, retired Air Force colonel has cancer, told she has 3 months to live. Prayers for complete healing. She is also caring for a daughter, a victim of violent rape, afraid to leave home. 7/29-Sturmtoddler had kidney surgery July 23. He is at home convalescing. Surgery was textbook. Just waiting for biopsy on removed cyst. Doctor says mass was removed. Prayers for complete healing. 7/31-LizardBrain’s Brother-in-law and little sister are 1600 miles away from him. Brother-in-law has cancer. Lizards Brain’s little sister’s (n her 60’s) had fetal alcohol syndrome, and has difficulty navigating maze of VA bureaucrats and medical procedures. Prayers for guidance, helpful people, healing, and comfort. 8/12 Bete in reflection is undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer and had a biopsy yesterday. Prayers for complete healing. 8/16-Grammie’s daughter is on a mission trip to Swaziland to give nursing care for children and women affected by sex trafficking. For a safe mission ans safe return home. 8/4-Vic’s younger brother needs to have bypass surgery. 8/1 BifBewalkski-continued healing after surgery, 8/5-Moki’s daughter found out that her immune system is compromised. She had a 3 centimeter hole in bladder and had to have bladder and kidneys reconstructed. Prayers for healing and strengthening in order for her to go back to school. 8/5-Redc1c4’s father has gone to be with the Lord. Prayers for strength and comfort for his dad’s family and friends. 8/6-Mrs. Hadrian IV-Continued strengthening and recovery after knee replacement. 8/6-NaCly Dog’s wife has type 1 diabetes and back issues. Needs more energy and strength and ability to move more easily without pain. Also needs blessings. light, and rough places made smooth. 8/13-Eric on total disability. Dealing with an ex wife who’s making things extraordinarily difficult. Asked for prayers for prayers that rough places are made smooth and for protection for his 14 year old daughter while he’s away from her. 8/13-Fenelon asks for prayers for Arlene who is waiting to hear about further heart surgery, Job needs and concerns: Emperor County Boy asked for prayers for wisdom and guidance and direction in his job search and in other areas. Donna&&&& needs FT job in areas of expertise PDX Republican needs sedentary PT job. Hadrian IV is looking for new job. Insomniac has been in touch with a company about receiving some work in his field. Please continue to pray for him in this endeavor that this does indeed work out for him as there have been many false starts and dead ends. I learned yesterday that Obama's initiative to improve black male high school graduation rates by spending billions and billions of dollars mostly included sending the kids to "alternative" schools where they only had to go half a day and not do anything that would count as credit at an actual high school.
But it was counted towards graduation rates.
It's entirely likely that we have FEWER black males truly graduating high school now even though the numbers have increased on paper.

I'd recommend very strongly against moving to Central Florida. I used to live between Tampa and Orlando. My parents moved there when I was in high school, figuring the proximity to two major cities would mean jobs.
It didn't. The only jobs we found were soul-sucking, underpaid bullshit. We called it the "land of New Jersey prices and Alabama wages". Moving there wrecked us and ruined my twenties. The day I crawled out from under it and left for Texas was one of the happiest of my life.

After having been identified by an anonymous account (which Vorhies believes belongs to a Google employee,) on social media as a leaker, Vorhies was approached by law enforcement at his residence in California. According to Vorhies, San Francisco police received a call from Google which prompted a wellness check.
Vorhies described the incident to Project Veritas:
"they got inside the gate, the police, and they started banging on my door . . And so the police decided that they were going to call in additional forces. They called in the FBI, they called in the SWAT team. And they called in a bomb squad.
"[T]his is a large way in which [Google tries to] intimidate their employees that go rogue on the company. . ."
Partial video of the incident was provided to Project Veritas. San Francisco police confirmed to Project Veritas that they did receive a "mental health call," and responded to Vorhies' address that day.

Pistol braces that people use as a shoulder stock (as in Detroit) as work-around to the short-barreled rifle restriction, which restriction should not exist anyway. It was a stupid BATFE opinion both ways, and a lack of willingness to work together in Congress that preceded this decision. Both the original opinion, the reversal, and this potential reversal of the reversal illustrate the folly of building a business on the fringes of the law subject to bureaucratic whimsy.

The new clarification of opinion letter states, "an NFA firearm has not necessarily been made when the device is not re-configured for use as a shoulder stock - even if the attached firearm happens to be fired from the shoulder. It's not eeyore. It's pointing out that the housing industry PR is laughable. Great you "own" a house. Which could well depreciate by 20% in the not too distant future. And you will pay property tax on it forever. And have fun with all the costs associated with "owning" that your nice friendly real estate agent forgot (oopsie) to mention.

Property taxes are a county function here. My sales tax was oringinally 3.5% when I moved here in 1977. They are now 10.5%.

Tax rate for my town in NH: $24.92 per thousand of valuation. 9.37 for city, 2.61 for county, 2.06 for state school taxes, 10.88 for city school. We do not have an income tax nor sales tax. We do charge like 9%+ for meals (restaurant, other prepared foods).

The good news is that now that they've set a limit on State and local tax (SALT) deductions to 10,000 my neighbors have overwhelmingly approved new 50M bond issue.
These same neighbors sport "Hate has no home here" signs on their front yards and apparently do not understand the relationship between school budgets and all those new and vibrant citizens now that are now crowding the classrooms.
They also appear not to understand how the value of their own homes will plummet when people start to wise up to the fact that having to pay an extra 20,000 in taxes a year over some other nice town, in perpetuity, demands something off the ask price.

In New Orleans.
Step One. Use a hurricane or other gigantic disaster to level all the existing schools.
Step Two. Allow anybody who thinks they can to open replacement schools -- charters, private, churches, homeschools. Pay per student.
Step Three. Observe that small nimble (mammal like) schools open first and big traditional (dinosaur like) schools follow later, much later. Most of the money goes to the swift.
Step Four. Observe the survival of the fittest -- and the better education obtained by the students of the swift nimble fast better schools.
So, to replicate the results, begin at step one. Destroy the existing public schools.
