The Democrats: The Party Of The Wealthy!

There is a lazy assumption among the media (wow...that never happens!) that the Republican Party is in its essence for the wealthy, and the Democrat Party is for the little man...the real people of America.

But anyone who has been paying attention has realized by now that the concentration of wealth in the pure blue cities and in the tech sector is overwhelmingly leftist.

Dem Dot Coms vs. Trump's Soldiers and Steelworkers

Providing free health care for illegal aliens at taxpayer expense may not be very popular nationwide, but is commonplace in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Boston. Gun control is a loser nationwide, but a sure thing in the big blue cities. Even proposals to take away private health plans, allow rapists and terrorists to vote from prison, and open the border pick up more support there.

The 2020 Democrats aren’t speaking to Americans as a whole. Instead they’re addressing wealthy donors from 6 major cities, and some of their satellite areas, whose money they need to be able to buy teams, ads and consultants to help them win in places like New Hampshire and Iowa.

New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles show up in the top 5 donor cities for most of the top 2020 candidates, including Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and Pete Buttigieg. Boston shows up in the top 10, not only for Bernie and Warren, but for Kamala and Buttigieg. Seattle appears in the top 10 for Bernie, Warren, and Buttigieg. Washington D.C. features in the top 10 for Bernie, Booker, Warren, Kamala, and Buttigieg. And the rest of America doesn’t really matter.

The Republican Party in my dreams and fantasies would be hammering the Democrats as out-of-touch billionaires who are insulated from financial and social upheaval because they have been stealing from real Americans for years. But that Republican Party does not exist. President Trump does make clear distinctions, like his marvelous criticisms of the four whores of the apocalypse, but without the support of his party he is a voice in the wilderness.

Imagine a concerted effort to demonize the mega-wealthy Democrat donor class. Many of them are wealthier than Trump, so the ads would practically write themselves...

66 As much as I despise envy and as much as I despise the Left for constantly pushing envy, hatred and resentment as great moral virtues, it must be remembered that those who have already "got theirs" love to support the Left for two reasons:

1) Keep the pitchforks away and
2) create artificial barriers to entry, to prevent other people from enjoying their level of success.

For all of Warren Buffett's whining about how he pays less in tax than his secretary, he likes it that way because he finds the idea that his secretary could get, well, at least near enough to his level of success to be sickening. So he wants high levels of taxation to keep the rubes at bay. And it doesn't hurt that he already knows about 10,000 pathways to avoid paying higher taxes if the pitchforks DO come his way.

In reality, these Dem donors in the big cities see themselves as medieval princes in an aristocracy, and wish the United States could have a very rigid class system where everyone would just SHUT UP, and know their place, accept their place, and stay in their place. As things are now, as much as even those on the Right love to talk about "class" this and "class" that, there are no classes to speak of. The economy is too dynamic and people move around too much for there to be such a thing. (The "middle class" family of today may well be upper class in 5-10 years, given a few things like kids moving out of the house, a few promotions, or paying off the mortgage. And as for this "working class" crap: that's just about 95% of the population. Do you know people who don't work outside of retirees and bums?)

86 About those judges...

The Dems and the GOPe had a gentleman's agreement of sorts. Let the courts make the hard decisions the politicians didn't want to go on record on with a vote. Then the Dems decided to go for the whole thing, try to freeze out the junior partner GOPe, with Reid's messing with the filibuster.

The GOPe confirming these judges is an existential thing, they want to preserve their personal interests. It remains to be seen whether these judges are conservative, constitutional, or just GOPe like Roberts.

95 Sure, the lion's share of the Dems campaign cash, even The so-called small contributions, come from six deep blue cities. But as long as there is an electoral college, they still have to hoodwink a lot of people from other states to vote Democratic.

Also, for some reason this has not received much coverage, but Ted Cruz told The Hill on Friday that he thinks Trump's chances of reelection are 50/50, and that there could be massive Democratic turnout due to their anger.

Probably a good reminder to the base to not get complacent like Hillary and her supporters did in 2016.

Everyone underestimated Donald Trump and his support in 2016. It would be wise for President Trump and his supporters to not underestimate anyone on the Democrat side in 2020.

The good news is that hopefully this time around, Donald Trump will not have to deal with the government agencies spying on him and trying to undermine his campaign every step of the way.

Mr. Cruz is correct in this sense: he clearly hates complacency.

I hate to say this, but we HAVE to actually HOLD the election. It's like a double-checking mechanism, just in case all the speculation is wrong. We do the same thing in sports: games actually DO get played just in case Vegas or other prognosticators and smart people are WRONG.

So, just in case we are all wrong, and Mr. Trump is doomed, I say, just for the hell of it, let's go ahead and hold the election, and let's all VOTE, just to be sure. Do not EVER think Trump has it in the bag because you think he is the greatest President, EVER.

Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at July 21, 2019 03:59 PM

THIS. Exactly.

Everyone who reads this site and who has followed politics long enough knows that no election is ever a sure thing.

From the media lies and smears of Republicans to the massive amounts of money from Democrat donors to the massive amounts of free campaign ads from celebrities and Hollywood to the massive amount of voter fraud all across the country in favor of Democrats... the Left is always going 100% to steal elections.

Didn't Donald Trump win some typically Blue States to win in 2016? MI (16) and WI (10) could be flipped back to BLUE. That would put the Electoral College at 280-to-258. Flip Florida Blue and the Democrat candidate wins.

Trump won FL 49.0-to-47.8
Trump won MI 47.5-to-47.27
Trump won WI 47.22-to-46.45

If those 3 states went the other way, we would be in the middle of a Hillary Clinton Administration right now.

And that's assuming every other State stayed the same.

2020 *may* end up a blowout at the Electoral College for President Trump if he wins all the same States again, but every single State is going to be ripe for the Democrats to steal and flip the election their way.

Complacency and overconfidence by President Trump supporters is a sure path to Democrat victory. Ted Cruz is wise to wake people up to that fact now.

I likewise don't see an upstart who will take on Cornyn in the primaries. As I said, a boy can dream. As for Mr. Dewhurst, no, he was no incumbent, but he was in the most politically powerful office in the state (that of Lt Gov) and had major advantages to go with that (such as name recognition). Mr. Cruz, on the other hand, was...a solicitor-general. Not exactly a household name. That year I voted for Cruz just to stick it to Dewhurst as much as anything else, and have been pleasantly surprised since.

You know, I don't know what to think of that. Miss Pink Sneakers has name recognition and will undoubtedly drive the Statists/Socialists to the polls, but as we saw in 2014, she's a one-trick pony and is a lousy campaigner. She couldn't even keep her TX Senate seat (which dutifully went back to the Dems in 201. She's going to have to do more than support abortion as a cure for any and all things and wearing pretty pink sneakers (which I bet look great on TV but are horrible if she actually intends to run in them).

1 quart of white vinegar (5%)

Make whatever pickled stuff from this. My favorite with beer is:

Slice of onion (preferably vidalia), clove of garlic, cayenne pepper (fresh), jalapeno pepper (fresh), and as many raw okra that you can stack in the jar.

Submerge canning jar in boiling water for 10 minutes (pints or quarts). Let cool. Mark the contents on the lid with date. Six weeks minimum until opening.
