Leftists are allowed to explore all sorts of questions, such as "Is the American flag just a variation of the Nazi swastika?"
The debate is about whether Kamala Harris, being half Indian, half Jamaican, and having grown up mostly in Canada rather than America, is actually a representative for the "black experience" in America.
And Don LeMon and April Ryan were keenly interested in puzzling this out just five months ago. Don LeMon seemed pretty certain that she is not "black" -- black meaning "American descended from slaves" -- but instead is merely someone of (partial) African lineage.
A user had sent a tweet to Don Jr. mentioning Harris’ mixed lineage, and he responded with "Is this true? Wow,", in a now-deleted tweet response. CNN dutifully went to the Harris camp for comment. "This is the same type of racist attack his father used to attack Barack Obama," Lily Adams, communications director for the Harris campaign, told CNN. Question, the for the CNN pundits: If Don Jr. responding, with curiosity, is considered an "attack" then how would you and the Harris campaign describe your co-worker Don Lemon actively questioning Kamala's racial integrity with a panel on his news program?! More than being taken aback by new information, Lemon actively argued that Harris was not "African American". Lemon got into the deep dive into Kamala’s racial bonafides with April Ryan:I think we just have to understand that the New Rules say that we are ourselves now under Jim Crow-style rules, and there are things that people of some races (and political leanings, of course) may say or do that we are forbidden to do."To want the distinction to say ‘is she African-American’, or ‘is she Black’ or is she...whatever -- there is nothing wrong with that. There is a difference between being African-American and being Black."Ryan then further muddied the waters with more muddled thinking."So she could indeed be African-American mixed with others, but she is a Black woman," she said. talk to a foot doctor would be my suggestion A good doc will likely be able to hook you up with orthodics if you need them and recommend a good shoe store that deals with people with foot issues. The only general recco I can give is that some people with foot pain think the softer the shoe the better, but in my experience, the support the shoe offers is the key thing. And as for socks, you want something that fits and doesn't cause friction. But that is just what has worked for me, I have no expertise in the subject.

Much of the Carribean ... which it's interesting to note would not be black run - or even have any blacks within 500 miles of them had it not been for slavery. Blacks benefited greatly from the slave trade. WIthout it, they would all still be in Africa, mostly starving and begging for help. The only way they were able to leave sub-saharan Africa was because people came and took them away.

Check into Horton's Syndrome. Flat (wide) feet, narrow shoes, cause a nerve pinch between second and third toe, for me. Hiking/hunting boots are hard to shop for. But usually buying a no-arch wide shoe works to allow my foot to spread. It was murder until I figured it out.

I'm glad that my great grandfathers were driven out of Russia by the pogroms. It was certainly very much to my benefit. If they hadn't been terrorized and chased away then I either would not have existed because my line would have been cut off during the Holocaust or I would have been born in Russia or some other Eastern European shithole during the Communist Era. That would have sucked like nobody's business.

This is my last shoe/foot comment as I have nothing left to offer on the subject. But I had the same experience. I have a really good shoe store around and they came up with a way to tie my shoes that made them fit better. I didn't even by the shoes from them. There are ways to lace shoes that are more effective than the standard deal.

To say that black people are lazy or stupid IS a racist stereotype. Because those are negative attributes and attributed on the basis of race.
To say that somebody was born in Africa is NOT a racist stereotype, because there are many of the same race who were born in Africa. It's the idea that saying that somebody is born in Africa is an "attack" that makes it an insult.

Oddly, my Jewish side didn't suffer too much. Yeah - they had to live in the Pale, and it blew nuts, and they eventually left because of it, but not because of direct, violent persecution.
My Christian grandfather, on the other hand - holy shit. The Communists really worked a number on his family (as in, they killed them ALL), left him an orphan in Egypt, and then he had to grow up in the British Army, who kindly took him in as a boy. It didn't get much better from there, until he came here. Just a lot of war.

They always ask my son if he is an American Indian. The answer is yes. He is Mayan from Guatemala. For the purposes of the idiot asking, the answer is no, because he is not a federally recognized tribe member.

This is the reason my dad taught me AA was bad. He used to work with a clack contractor, a black dude, who was a demolitions expert. And, I mean "expert." Best guy around. They were good friends; he gave my dad the fancy doors from a building he was taking down when I was little.
His company was contracted by my dad's, because "minority-owned," though, and that never, ever sat well with either of them.

Interesting ... and you come to this conclusion about the Founders' use of "natural born citizen": when there was a type of citizenship that didn't exist for Americans under the Founders and that was dual/multi-nationality. Americans were not allowed to hold other nationalities (as is clearly evidenced to this very day by the oath of renunciation and allegiance that every naturalizing American must take).
Yes, there are different classes of citizenship today than there were when the Founders wrote "natural born citizen".
A child of foreign parents is not a "natural born citizen". Period.
True, this has never been addressed in a Constitutional amendment (the correct way) or in court but it's pretty clear that a natural born citizen was meant as someone who wouldn't have any even possibly competing interests of other allegiances.
It's well past time that this case goes throught he court system, at the very least. ANd, hell, the anti-"naturla born citizen" folks have nothing to lose. It's not as if these courts won't just make shit up and call eveyone on Earth a "natural born citizen of America". It wouldn't even be their worst decision.

Young surgeon who came replaced my husband's broken hip was Indian.. came in on Saturday to do it. Didn't have to. He could have waited until Monday but came in anyway. I think he was the only surgeon working that day(OSU-Michigan game day in Columbus). Huge operating floor and we were the only ones down there. Very eerie. Regardless, good is good and good doesn't have a color.

But as of 1965, the Supreme Court has ruled that it's constitutionally protected for Citizens from birth to hold dual citizenship, and not even Congress can take that away. Different rules apply for naturalized citizens, of course.
To cut to the chase, "natural born citizen" is an orphaned phrase, left devoid of Constitutional meaning anymore. No Court respects it, no court will define it. That puts defining it into the territory of being an amusing internet game, and nothing else.
