Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant"So, it looks like ThinkProgress, one of the big fluffers for the Democratic Party, has been bleeding money like crazy. And Vox, another Democratic shill site, had to lay off a bunch of people due to poorer than expected revenue. And as the boss reported a few days ago, Disney has pretty much written off its big investment in Vice. HBO cancelling it's Vice news show is also not a good sign. For them. Buzzfeed is also taking it in the shorts. All the news for these guys is so grim, I can't wipe this smile off my face. Too bad none of these maroons know anything about economics. Because then they'd be aware of basic concepts such as 'supply', 'demand', and, most importantly, 'market saturation.' And perhaps then they'd be able to ask themselves what would happen if the supply of left-wing gasbaggery greatly surpasses the demand. And perhaps do some sort of market analysis to determine how much of a potential audience they actually have. I think they'll find it's smaller than they might expect: First, they need to write off every red state. That's nearly half the country right there. Next, the number of people who are normally on your side of the aisle but who now think you're batsh* crazy is a lot larger than you'd like to admit, and I believe that not only is their number only getting bigger the closer we get to 2020, it's big enough to more than compensate for the insignificant sliver of bitter clinger NeverTrump holdouts they could possibly appeal to. If Trump wins in 2020, I think one or more of these big progressive sites are going to go TU. Investors other than George Soros are probably tired of throwing money at these guys and getting zero return on their investment. And the remaining market share for left-wing gasbaggery has been well-covered by the left-wing gasbags at CNN, MSNBC, the NY Times, and the Washington Post. So who really needs another roomful of soyboy hipsters typing out anti-Trump tripe all day?"

Somebody once pointed out that every woman--unless she's down in the bone witch-hideous--has a moment in her twenties when she's pretty much constantly aglow. That was Hillary's moment. It lasted for the amount of time it took for the flash to illuminate her and the quanta of light to impact the film. Then she reverted to form.

I recall getting ready for Trick or Treating when I was six or seven, and kids were already coming to the door, the usual vampires, mummies, ghosts, etc. Then two girls dressed as clowns show up (really high end clown makeup and everything) and I screamed and ran to my bedroom. There was something deeply disturbing about the way the makeup erased their humanity, and I never really got over it. I no longer scream when I see clowns, but I still feel that deep discomfort. March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory We're the Army and proud of our name We're the Army and proudly proclaim First to fight for the right, And to build the Nation's might, And The Army Goes Rolling Along Proud of all we have done, Fighting till the battle's won, And the Army Goes Rolling Along. Then it's Hi! Hi! Hey! The Army's on its way. Count off the cadence loud and strong For where e'er we go, You will always know That The Army Goes Rolling Along. Valley Forge, Custer's ranks, San Juan Hill and Patton's tanks, And the Army went rolling along Minutemen, from the start, Always fighting from the heart, And the Army keeps rolling along. Men in rags, men who froze, Still that Army met its foes, And the Army went rolling along. Faith in God, then we're right, And we'll fight with all our might, As the Army keeps rolling along. The news business hasn't yet figured out that not only have they been taken over by social media/tech sites, but that they are competing (and failing) with comedians and the political class. For example, George Stephanapolwhateves, Chuck Todd, John Brennan, Jim Sciutto, etc.
Why do we need Buzzfeed/Vox/HuffPost when we have late night comedians, John Oliver, Bill Maher, Trevor Noah, and Samantha be out there making their beat more entertaining (for their shared audience, not the rest of us)? We don't. You, journalists, decided to be partisan, edgy and entertaining instead of informative. Now you must live with the consequences that there are others who are more suited/have a better skillset to do that job. Posted by: Lizzy at June 14, 2019 11:38 AM (W+vEI) 156

Lots of shows back then had 25+ episodes a season. Posted by: Tami at June 14, 2019 11:40 AM (cF8AT) +++++++++ The Twilight Zone was perhaps the zenith of American television. There have been some truly great shows since, of course, but the Twilight Zone is spectacular. Do you have the Blu-Ray? If not, I strongly recommend it. The picture looks good and they did a good job but the reworking of the sound is sublime - they had a real artist do that piece. When the SciFi Channel shows a Zone marathon, I often have trouble making out the muddy sound that was so common at the time. You can play back the Blu-Ray version at "barely audible" and hear every word and sound. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at June 14, 2019 11:43 AM (I2dne) 194

And movies... Do you think Mel Brooks could make any of his movies now?Not even just him... Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at June 14, 2019 12:18 PM (AzW6q) This was mentioned on the ONT, and I will repeat my suggestion from there. I wish Ace would contact some potential advertisers directly and get them to provide ad copy that could be pasted in to the HQ threads the same way the images up top here are pasted in. They could even include links for us to click on. Such ads would not be blocked by ad-blockers, since they aren't "served" remotely. Just imagine for a moment, the vintage shoe ad up top being replaced by a current ad for Bluebell ice cream. Or, say Palmetto State Armory. Should not be a hard sell to sell those ads to the advertisers; just show them the comments threads where we chat about those things endlessly. They could easily see there is interest there. And "flat-file" ads like that would not be annoying, because they don't run video or sound, or try to take over your computer's processor (which is why those of us with adblocker have adblocker). SiriusXM sends me spam at least once a week, and have been for two years. At what point do you just give up on it?
- I subscribe every few months for 6 months for $30 or so, then call to cancel and they'll repeat it. If they don't they'll send you an email or junk mail in a month or so with the same offer. I like classical, though, so just being able to reliably find that is worth it. A lot of their channels repeat every hour or so, which seems strange. Like the 80s channel. There are so many songs, but XM just has one album they found in the $3 bin at Walmart. First off, everyone has been getting negative info about opponents in big political races from other countries for as long as there's been a USA. Second, the Democrats openly admit they do it, and have been nailed doing it repeatedly.
President Trump saying "sure, I'll take info from whatever source" is not even remotely controversial or noteworthy. Info is info, who cares where it comes from? If anything, PAYING for the info is more sinister. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at June 14, 2019 12:37 PM (39g3+) 485

Young Madonna was hawt.
One thing I've appreciated about her is that she did the Sex book at the peak of her worldwide frame. A lot of celebrities take their clothes off at the end of their careers to try to stay relevant or it turns out that they did when they were young and hungry. Madonna was a the top of her celebrity and also the peak of her looks. Now she also turned out to have taken her clothes off a lot when she was young and hungry, all of which is also good.
