Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Clarence Thomas: I'm Not Retiring. Oh, and PS, We Will Bury You.Knocking down the #FakeNews from the media from a few days back... In rare public remarks, Justice Clarence Thomas on Monday dismissed what he called "rumor that I was retiring." "I have no idea where this stuff comes from," he said. Justice Thomas, in a relaxed and reflective mood, was interviewed by David Rubenstein, a financier and philanthropist, in the Supreme Court's courtroom as part of a series of lectures sponsored by the Supreme Court Historical Society. "I really don't have a lot of stress," Justice Thomas said cheerfully. "I cause stress."Baller. (Definition three.) Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

When there's a thread with too many twitter links embedded, it messes with the page refresh. Usually, you can refresh and the page will your place at the comments so you can start reading from the ones that were at the bottom the last time you refreshed, but twitter links seem to load slower than the rest of the page and you always end up having to scroll back through 30 or so comments to get to where you were.

The more I think about it, I can't remember RGB getting interviewed at all like this anytime recently. It shouldn't be hard, I can even give the media the questions to ask:
1. RGB, to be considered alive, it is generally assumed to have a semi-constant temperature between 96 and 101 degrees. When's the last time your temperature has been taken and are you concerned? 2. RGB, have you considered that in retirement you could increase your bench press from 200 lbs to 250 lbs? 3. RGB, does it concern you your voice seems to not work and there is a shadowy man behind you pulling strings? Posted by: What's a Seawolf? at June 04, 2019 01:02 PM (u9hp4) 39

He's definitely been taking a more activist stance of late. He's been quite vocal about the death penalty, abortion, and judicial injunctions...all of them in our favor of course. This seems unprecedented when you consider he's been pretty quiet about things since taking his seat on the court. Even his opinions generally were short and to the point. Recently he included a 15 page treatment on the history of eugenics and abortion in a ruling. He knows the court is moving in his direction. He wants to take an active part in it. Posted by: LGoPs at June 04, 2019 01:20 PM (bb4ns) ++++++++ Kavanaugh was a dry run to see what would work in terms of fabricating offenses for a person who by all appearances is a boy scout. It didn't work, but they learned from it. When it is time to replace RBG, they will pull out the stops. If there is *anything* even remotely suspect in the person's past - even a speeding ticket - it will be front page news. If there isn't enough to block the nominee, I think the left goes after the person's family this time. If that looks like it's going to fail, it wouldn't shock me (I think it is a low probability but possible) that someone knocks off the nominee. These people are desperate and I think they will stop at nothing to block a nominee at this point. No matter what they have to make up, no matter what they do to the nominee's family or friends or profession, no matter what depths to which they have to sink, they'll do it. After Kavanaugh, they will have to be progressively worse until the phone ringing with the president on the other line is something that causes anyone in the running to break out into cold terror sweat. It makes the nomination process harder. The nominee needs not only to be a good conservative, but a vicious fighter. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at June 04, 2019 01:27 PM (I2dne) 153

These people are desperate and I think they will
stop at nothing to block a nominee at this point. Willowed.
Completely off topic.* Author Anthony Horowitz, creator of Foyle's War, author of The House of Silk and many other works, created a technique I think no other writer has ever used**, he himself is a major character in solving the mystery. That is, in The Word Is Murder, Anthony Horowitz, creator of Foyle's War, author of The House of Silk and many other works, is a major character, sort of an unwilling amanuensis forced to chronicle the investigation of the unlikeable Detective Hawthorne. Now he has written a new Hawthorne / Horowitz mystery, The Sentence Is Death. So I guess we're going to have a series in which the author himself will be a not entirely likeable Watson to Hawthorne's Holmes. (I noticed that in a prior of his books, Magpie Murders, he didn't make mystery writers generally look very good. But this time it's personal.) *Well, since it takes a certain amount of pride to make oneself a book's protagonist, perhaps not completely off topic. **OK, Vonnegut kind of in Slaughterhouse 5, Breakfast of Champions and other works but he was a very minor character. The most disappointing thing about Clarence Thomas is that LONG DONG SILVER WAS FAKE!
I actually thought there was a porn star in the '80s who in reality had an extreeeeeemely long penis. Turns out (it was discovered many years later) that he was wearing a "prosthetic penis." In the '80s, people were naive and thought that it looked believable. But in retrospect, if you see clips from his pornos now, it's totally obvious that the dick is made out of rubber. He never lets go of it with his hand, always carefully gripping it at the base, to make sure it never falls off. Also, it's about 24 inches long, which is just absurd, and not even close to realistic. And finally, it just made out of floppy rubber, and never gets "hard," no matter what the starlet involved does do it. Fake fake fake. His co-star Seka, when asked about Long Dong Silver, was very cagey with her answers - -and her caginess was a giveaway that she was hiding something (the fakeness of the penis). Apparently the actor behind the Long Dong Silver persona was from the Bahamas, and supposedly died in the '90s sometime (rumors say of AIDS, but they always say that about people who died in the '90s). Clarence Thomas, you promoted Fake News! Posted by: zombie at June 04, 2019 01:42 PM (5tb4C) 226

Thomas has huge biceps. Posted by: Someguy at June 04, 2019 02:01 PM (44181) 315
And, I'm sure, she looks like shit and the press doesn't want to publish photos of her, so they're protecting her.
Whichever SCOTUS swearing-in ceremony she attended most recently, all anybody could see of her was the top of her head, she's so bent over with arthritis. That looked OK, tho'. She at least has hair up there. Don't know whose it is. She should step down, but her hatred for the Constitution and the principles in it keep her alive, I guess. For certain values of "alive." *Beep* Posted by: BackwardsBoy says #Progressivism=Socialism at June 04, 2019 02:01 PM (HaL55) 316

Consider that the Commies tried to palm off to us a photo of her from a year and a half before as a current photo. Remember that one? In the airport? If she appeared healthy, and lucid, she'd be on 60 Minutes, guaranteed. Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at June 04, 2019 02:02 PM (heaSb) 318
Mister Cloggenstein I have no idea whether there is one or not for our fictional numbskull. I was just rubbing salt into a wound for her having expressed such tender concern for Justice Thomas being a lonely person and her prescribing one cat for him to alleviate that condition. Newsworthy to *you* perhaps. Most people do not discuss the supreme court at all. Posted by: Mikey NTH - Outrage Outlet Summer Savings on Nitwits, Dimwits, Lackwits, and Halfwits! at June 04, 2019 02:04 PM (hLRSq) 320

Yes but the House can "impeach" though Senate must convict. The House, acting on its own, could truthfully claim he has "been impeached" and is "under impeachment proceedings." Posted by: Niggling Pedant (Not Racist) at June 04, 2019 02:05 PM (koNhm) 321
Clint Eastwood turned 89 this past Friday. He's doing much better than the Notorious Mrs. Bates.

65 What bothers me about all the justices is that they absolutely know what Ginsberg's status as a functioning human being is and are partially complicit in keeping that a secret from we the people.
I do not like that. At all. Posted by: Pug Mahon at June 04, 2019 01:10 PM Maybe they foolishly think they'll be afforded the same accommodation if it happens to them? I'd like to see a few conservative justices just stop showing up and phoning in their opinions as well. Why show up to work if it isn't a requirement? To think Cocaine Mitch is going to run interference for Trump---and this, in the end, is ALL about defeating Trump is it not ?--and put Barrett or other on the SCOTUS is .....counting on the GOPe to stand tall and tough.

Justice Thomas is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I wish him well and appreciate his decades of public service on the court.
