Bill de Blasio For President! At least His Campaign Will keep Him Out Of NYC

That's 47th St. and 8th Ave. on a nice Saturday afternoon in late spring. The streets are filled with tourists and theater-goers leaving the Saturday matinees, and they are greeted by the sight and stench of rotting garbage, and the equally delightful bouquet of bums sleeping in doorways.

This is by no means a rare view....NYC is rapidly descending into third-world status when judged by the amount of garbage on the streets. And de Blasio is the man responsible. Say what you will about Bloomberg (and there is much to be said!), he got the garbage picked up. Now there are plans to add congestion pricing fees in midtown Manhattan (coming in 2020), as if there were no other reasons to avoid it. The city has always been expensive, but the point of diminishing returns is rapidly approaching (if it isn't here already). $13 to cross the bridge, another $12 for congestion pricing, $40 for parking, and all for the pleasure of walking along garbage-strewn streets filled with bums?

And that green-painted strip of roadway along the curb? That's for the occasional bicyclist. Unseen is the new system of traffic lights to accommodate the cyclists, and in the process slow down automobile and pedestrian traffic. That's an entire lane on a major street, taken over for the convenience and virtue signalling of a minuscule number of riders.

It is an adorable and idiotic pipe-dream of the progs...to convert NYC into a carless utopia, in which everyone walks and cycles and skips through the beautiful fields as they happily commute to their zero-carbon-emissions jobs and eat their vegan meals out of sustainable bowls. Or even better...use their MiniumBasicIncome^TM to frolic in their happily stoned and ignorant state, as the drones upstate work to pay their rapidly increasing tax bills.

And there's more!

What's that? DHS Police? Why that is "Department of Homeless Services!" The bureaucratic bloat has become so pervasive, and the desire of the progressive mind in NYC to SPEND SPEND SPEND has become so all-encompassing that they actually have a separate police force for bums.

Here's a list of departments with armed officers...

New York City Police Department
New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police
Fire Department of the City of New York Fire Marshals
New York City Department of Correction
New York City Department of Investigation
New York City Sheriff's Office
New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services Police

I'm sure there is a fine and logical argument for the existence of each of these departments, but the vast and vile amount of waste and graft and sloth is just too much to dismiss.

This is the country we can expect if the current crop of children, ignorant of the existential danger of socialism, usher in some grand experiment in "correctly implemented" socialism in America.

Running for mayor in one of those burgs has nothing to do with making the city better. That's already impossible given the laugh-track of regulations, make work jobs, and vibrant diversity. No, it's about graft. They just hope the SMD of payback doesn't land during their administration. As long as the paperwork gets done, they don't care about the results. 78 Had a discussion with my garbageman this week. We have been having problems with them ignoring some houses and I finally got the man himself. He has a brand new truck with some kind of 'bail' or 'bale' sawtooth type thingy around the front loader. Adds almost 2' to getting the cans up and over and serious weight restrictions will be applied. Nice guy, who made jokes about which kids were visiting because of beer bottles/cans and wine boxes. My own usage is bad enough, but when the kids blow through, it is very noticeable.

Can't blame him, that 2' higher must be killing his back.

Do not dis these guys, during my surgical training we were farmed out from the ritzy famous private hospital to a HHC joint because the RFPH didn't get enough trauma.

More than once the HHC 5-0 broke up gang fights, stopped staff from being assaulted (me included) and generally held the mayhem down to a manageable minimum - the HHC don't exactly get the elite of the city.

Very glad to have seen NYC in my rear view mirror and get back south of the Mason Dixon line.

Then I moved there in 1999 and it was a different world. I left in 2002. Went back in 2009 and it was still pretty good. Last time I was there was 2015 and saw the decay starting again.

It's not just Cali. In my smallish city in a very red county, in a red state the geniuses on the city council did the same thing. They didn't remove a lane, but they took a 2 lane street, made both lanes narrower in order to add a bike lane. So now you're driving a few inches away from the car in the other lane, while the bike lane goes mainly unused.

For much of human history, cities and civilization went hand-in-hand. Rural areas were impoverished, ignorant backwaters.

It's not like the Progtards are making any secret of how they see the future in America.

They spew their plans every time they get together for urban planning, etc. Some of their plans may already have been implemented in your very own burg.

So-

Progtard Vision of the Future:

1) Make suburbs too inconvenient or too costly for middle class people.

You will see this in cities like NYC where they tax/fee the living doodad out of those who drive into the city. Cuz they're not paying their "fair share"

2) Build giant urban apartment towers for everyone to live in.(think the towers in "Dredd")

a) Create mixed communities, where you will be forced to live next door to drug dealers, thugs, etc.

3) No cars allowed in the city. It will be all bicycles and public transport.

4) There will be stores near you that will provide everything you need (according to your betters), so you will never have any reason to travel of your little quadrant.

5) Your a large amount of your food will be made from processed insects. Becuz Cows are killing the planet1!!!1111!!!!11111.

6) The suburbs will be torn down so that Gaia may flourish.

7) Solar and wind will provide all of the power that you need(according to your betters), so the cost of electricity will be zero(!) Cuz the wind and sunlight are free!

Some of my neighbors that raised kids on a smaller farms ... their kids and grandkids all seem to like the big city. There are certainly many things to do in Chicago I guess, and perhaps it is not hard to avoid the worst areas. But those people are also Democrats, I have found, in a county that voted 70% Trump (even though the main city had a Dem mayor for many years till 2012).

The real farmers have kids that were more fully involved in farming ... I think those kids are the ones that are likely to do the work, enjoy the life. They are also the Trump voters.

With modern conveniences and tech (I have fiber even 1/2 mile off the blacktop) ... and air conditioned tractors ... we could maybe have a revival in the rural communities, with smaller horticulture or small ag opportunities. Online communities can support each other directly,even if they are a hundred miles away geographically.

But yeah, I don't know how downstate IL ever gets free of the Chicago mafia, since a landslide victory for Trump in every place except Chicago and a few other big city communities ... still means Hilda won by 17%.
