The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"So for the past couple of months, hair-on-fire progressives have been running around with their hair on fire because of some abortion restrictions that were passed, but they're getting upset over nothing, really. The legislation was only passed by statute in Georgia. And Iowa. And Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and some other states. Like South Carolina, and North Dakota. Look, we're not coming after your abortion. All we want is some common sense abortion control. Like a one-year waiting period. And an exhaustive background check with mental health evaluation. Also, the purchase of a $200 tax stamp should be required. That's only fair. And doctors who do abortions should be licensed by the federal government, also with exhaustive background and mental health checks, and in addition they should have to pay a whopping big annual license fee. And the names of all abortionists and their patients should go into a national registry. But that's nothing anybody has to worry about. Rest assured, we would not presume to deny anyone the constitutional right to abortion. If you want your abortions, you can keep your abortions."

Yes, it's very tasty. Probably second only to that once-in-a-lifetime cotton honey overall, which says a lot for something available commercially.

You get another court order (injunction) telling them that they can't release them. Or in other words, you don't. You're right that Wells Fargo has no choice here. The Constitution provides that no one can be forced to testify against themselves, but there's no similar protection for a 3rd party who holds information that a court refuses to protect.

I had some movie thoughts.

https://tinyurl.com/y3skvt2o

"On top of all of this is some of the most incredibly impressive action I've ever seen. The key to elongated action sequences is finding ways to change the action around while keeping the pace going. You'd think that with a car chase, there'd only be so many combinations one could come up with, but this is where the weirdness of the Max universe really turns into an asset. It's not two cars in pursuit. It's a war rig followed by a variety of different vehicles with different weapons, speeds, and abilities. My favorite of them all is the pole cats, which the movie saves for the ending and uses to great effect. "

I understand being furious, but Wells Fargo had no choice. They had no legitimate constitutional or legal ground for refusing, and the Execs could have been jailed by the Court if they had refused to comply. No client is worth going to jail for, not in any business.

This is the entire reason the Left decided to go after Business entities and not Trump directly. All they needed was a couple of judges on their payroll and they had it made.

This is from the last thread. Thanks OM, you are correct, it was PA. And your observation is spot on.

There have been several states no longer require MD's to perform abortions. They can be done by others, and I don't know if they require them to be licensed health care providers or not. In VA, a judge reversed his decision just a couple of weeks ago that forced the state to permit non MD's (with training, right) to perform abortions, including RN's, PA's and midwives.
How you can be a midwife, and perform an abortion truly floors me.

Imagine going to a hospital for a D&C and never seeing a MD. Including no MD for anesthesia, etc.

But hey, women's rights.

Yeah, it's a mess.

Characters speaking directly to camera. About 60% of the movie is in split-screen (and virtually none of it works).

Tim Blake Nelson is nearly unintelligible with his massive fake non-teeth.

It's a confusing mess by someone who may very well understand the book, but has no idea how to adapt anything.

It's somewhere between a bad straight forward independent adaptation and a bad Terrence Malick imitation.

Posted by: Tom Servo at May 24, 2019 11:31 AM (Kpl3J)

Tom, Mark Levin disagrees with you and he has a point. He said that WF didn't even attempt to fight the congressional subpoena in court. They did NOTHING to protect their client's accounts and records. This was a congressional subpoena, not a court ordered one until the ruling this week.

Levin said he is closing all his accounts with WF because he now knows they have zero interest in their clients. (Gee, Mark a little late to the party. Wells Fargo has been fined, etc. for allowing their client's records to be hacked via the internet, and their employees were rewarded with bonuses for making up accounts. I wouldn't have left anything with them)

I agree that he knew he was a diversion, though. That was the plan. He just got nothing out of it for helping the liberals.

224 Levin said he is closing all his accounts with WF because he now knows they have zero interest in their clients. (Gee, Mark a little late to the party. Wells Fargo has been fined, etc. for allowing their client's records to be hacked via the internet, and their employees were rewarded with bonuses for making up accounts. I wouldn't have left anything with them)

Interestingly, Wells was one of the bigger banks that deployed a decent level of bullshit detection around high-risk mortgages and CDOs back in the day.

259 A note on the legal loophole that allows Corrupt Judges to allow a Corrupt Congress to do whatever it wants: The only way to remove a Federal Judge is Impeachment. All Impeachment has to start in the House of Reps. What conceivable House would ever try to impeach any Judge for doing exactly what it told him to do?

And that's why these Judges can operate with such impunity.

One interesting fact in the Making Of feature that followed the movie. They had a dozen or so participants discuss their experiences in the movie. One went to an air show shortly after appearing in the movie. This 94 or 96 year old man was offered a backseat ride in a two seater P-51. The plane crashed and he died. I'd love to see high ranking officials of the Obama administration go to jail over the whole thing, but I seriously doubt that Joe goes to prison over this.

I may be wrong (I know nothing), but it seems far fetched to get Biden in chains.

Teresa May steps down as PM.

----

No. She *said* she would step down June 7th.

She also said Brexit would be in March. Daily-mail had an article on her husband yesterday. He may persuade her to hang on a bit longer.

She has had this inexplicable habit of announcing something one day and doing the opposite the next. Recently, it's been literally the next day.

The June 7th date is so she can have dinner with Trump and the Queen ...

354 saw The Cold Blue yesterday. Very good. Of course anything WWII is like crack, or donuts, for me.

Kind of funny, started off with clips from a "Deutsche Wochenschau", the German propaganda newsreel series that was produced right up to nearly the surrender. I've watched dozens of those online, for historical interest and a [mostly futile] effort to revive my krautish comprehension.

Basically, restored/enhanced footage from 8th Air Force missions, shot for the movie "Memphis Belle", interspersed with veteran interviews. And a good "making of" extra after.

I'd recommend people see it ..... but it was a one-time event. Assume it will be available via online/cable sources, but not sure.

I assume she continues boning pro-choice women, and probably is obligated to continue sex-servicing the oppressed and dispossessed, like Muslim trannies, because intersectionalism.

Somebody should ask her to see her sexual activity logbook, to find out the true before-and-after story of her brave protest. I'd also like to see her team up with Emily Ratakjowski (sp?) and take out her titties every time she gets upset about these kinds of things; it's the least she could do to effect real transformative change.
