Claim: Joe DiGenova Says That IG Horowitz Has Concluded That the Last Three Carter Page/Trump FISA Warrants Were Obtained Illegally

I have a few caveats here.

First, I don't know how Joe DiGenova would know this. Yeah, he has contacts in DC. But in the IG office?

Second, this doesn't sound like something this particular IG (and maybe any IG) would find. Remember the IG report on McCabe et al.? It took pains to give McCabe, Strzok, Page and the every reasonable benefit of the doubt, and some benefit of unreasonable doubts, too.

I cannot imagine this IG would state his conclusions so baldly. At best, we could hope he finds the later FISA warrants "not in accordance with routine practice" or something fairly milquetoast like that.

But, it's news.

Washington attorney Joe diGenova claimed in an interview last night that the Department of Justice inspector general has determined that "the final three FISA extensions were illegally obtained," and the first one is still being investigated.

For the past year, DOJ IG Michael Horowitz has been investigating the FBI's 2016 surveillance activities and his report is expected later this month or in early June.

...

"The only question now is whether or not the first FISA was illegally obtained," diGenova said.

More at the link, including video of the appearance.

Though it's news I'd add several asterisks to, and also the advice that if you expect a lot, you're bound to be disappointed, whereas if you expect little, you leave yourself room to be upside-surprised.

Meanwhile, pine-scented Druid philosopher James Comey continues defending the Steele dossier which he plainly never investigated at all before making a literal federal case of it. Or since, for that matter.

Or maybe he's just pretending, hoping that if he keeps claiming complete ignorance about simple, well-publicized facts, he can dodge the "intent" part of a criminal charge.

This line of questioning has to do with Comey's previous statement that he could not say for sure whether the president had paid prostitutes to pee on each other, or a bed, or whatever the bullshit Sydney Blumenthal Conspiracy Theory was.

Comey defended saying that, noting that the Mueller report included one oblique reference to the alleged pee pee tapes.

Comey told CNN's Anderson Cooper that former special counsel Robert Mueller made an "oblique reference" to the veracity of the video that supposedly shows prostitutes urinating on Trump, popularly known as the "pee tape."

Cooper even told Comey that "those tapes were false" as he asked the former FBI director whether he regrets providing legitimacy to the Steele dossier in former interviews. Comey continued to suggest the dossier might be grounded in fact even when asked whether he had provided credibility to a lie.

The reference there isn't clear -- Mueller noted that someone had emailed someone in the Trump organization saying he'd stopped the release of "the tapes," but then added that he thought "the tapes" were themselves fraudulent.

Mueller "forgot" to mention that second part.

"Do you regret making those comments that some would see as sort of stoking the fires or leaving it as an open question?" Cooper asked.

"No, I was trying to give an honest answer, and my answer would be the same today," Comey responded.

The guy went on tv and proclaimed that it remained an open possibility that the president paid prostitutes to pee on a bed and was being blackmailed over that by Russia, and denies he was acting irresponsibly or outside of accepted bureau practice.

The fact that they were known to all be malicious fakes was never in question.

I suspect he does have the goods, but is slow walking their release for 2 purposes.

1, if it's fully known all at once, there's a chance the right riots and goes full Rawanda on commie leftists. slim, but possible.

2, and more likely in my mind, by slowly letting the information out, the commies are self-inflicting wounds by calling it crazy, not something possible, trumps fault, etc. and then having it shown to be what they actually did. he's getting information out that, if delivered all at once, the country and msm could ignore or call propaganda and gloss over.

imo, we shall see if it works...

80 I view the talk of the "Impeachment Trap" as coming
from the Dem Leadership (Pelosi, Hoyer) and intended to sell their base
on the idea that they really can't impeach now, even though they
promised they would.

It's gonna go over with the Dem Base about the way that Bush's "no new taxes" explanation went over with his.

89 I cannot imagine this IG would state his conclusions so baldly. At best, we could hope he finds the later FISA warrants "not in accordance with routine practice" or something fairly milquetoast like that.

That's probably how it is actually going to be phrased. Which I think to most people is going to mean "illegal" because if you didn't follow the law to get the warrants then you broke the law. It is what would happen to all of us. But since they're Democrats trying to get Trump they get the wiggle room and "Oopsie, our bad!" no "actual" crime excuse.

117 Inspector General reports never make criminal accusations. That is not how it works.

If, during the course of their investigation, they find potential criminal activity they turn it over to a DOJ prosecutor for follow up. It is the prosecutor who makes the accusation in the form of an indictment.

If you are waiting for indictments in Horowitz' report you are going to be disappointed. The answer will come if there are indictments announced by the DOJ itself.

As we've discussed several times before here, the over-the-top weird sexuality of this story virtually guarantees that it was personally written by Syd Blumenthal, Hillary's long time confident. That's his hallmark. Ignoring Saint Comey of Swamp Castle's plain, multifaceted criminality in this coup operation, anyone think that maybe, possibly, Trump kinda-sorta had an inkling that this yahoo should have been fired and that he, I dunno, was slightly justified in firing him on the advice of counsel? Or am I being too silly?

152 There actually is a strong niche market in America for audio cassette tapes. And a much smaller one for reel to reel

Reel to Reel gives you phenomenal sound, but its really clumsy and hard to find gear to play them. Cassettes, the problem is that since they don't sell like they used to, the selection is bad. Back in the late 80s you could really pick up some high quality tapes for great fidelity.

I used to record music on Videotapes, because it was not only huge storage, but extremely high quality recording.

156 Inspector General reports never make criminal accusations. That is not how it works.

IG's investigate, thoroughly. If an IG does make an accusation, the report does it in the form of a criminal referral. A US Attorney then files actual charges.

So, the IG does report the results of investigations and make accusations of criminal activity.

174 OT, but I found this interesting:

In their infinite wisdom, the United States' Founders created the
Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why
should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the
nation?
There are 3,141 counties in the United States.
Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.
There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes
than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton
winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.

When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles
of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of
those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome
of a national election.

227 You know, for a very large and powerful organization that depends upon hard facts to keep the nation safe, there sure seems to be an awful lot of fuzziness about the details of this alleged "pee tape." They and a whole lot of other people have been talking about this for years and still no one has verified that it exists nor has anyone determined that this incident ever even happened. It either did or did not occur. The fact that nobody in the FBI has said for sure either way is suspicious as all get-out.

No; It isn't. I isn't done till God says it is. I think you're not a particularly religious person or perhaps you feel God doesn't listen to you (although God does), but peoples have been wondering about why the wicked prosper since the Scriptures were written. This is what R.A. religious writer of the early 20th century said:

Th psalmist was confronted with the same perplexity, Pslam 73:3 "I was envious of the boastful when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." "Behold these are the ungodly, who are always at ease..they increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain and washed my hands innocence." The mystery was solved when he went into the sanctuary of God, when he communed with God. The prosperity of the wicked in for a moment....in God's reckoning. God has set them in desolate places and they may be brought to desolation in a moment. However, even in their poverty the righteous are with God and God unholds them. Down in this world of testing and trial God guides us with his counsel and when we come out of the fire purified he receives us into his glory. We forget this world is not everything..it is a preparation for a future world.

If the population of California feels that they are underrepresented in the EC, they can break up the state into smaller states and thus expand their EC count.

The EC serves to discourage states from becoming too large, since there are decreasing electoral returns as population increases. This is a good thing, because large states like CA, NY, and FL are almost ungovernable due to the large differences in the population in different areas of each state, which leads to conflicting policy goals and eventually a large share of the population cut out of the decision-making process.

I enjoyed reading his stuff because he went against the grain and took some "professional" risk with his opinions, which is generally a good sign that someone is at least interesting if nothing else.

He had said the stars were demonstrating an outsider election and that if Bernie had been nominated he wouldn't have been able to be so certain about what he had seen. Although is Bernie really an outsider?

I mention this because I still remember him talking about March, April and May of this year representing quite a low point for Trump - this is already arguable on its face considering how much good news has been rolling in since March - but that June would be a strong upturn for Trump that continues all the way through November 2020. Roll on, June!!!

Someone on our side has been leaking for a while on various topics. I've recommended Jeff Carlson at Epoch Times, he's done outstanding work for the last couple years.

In February it became obvious that he had inside contacts, either from the White House or Congress, when he started writing about the closed door hearings of a number of the key individuals on this scam like Baker, Ohr and Page. When their testimony was released it was clear he had seen the unredacted testimony.

This past weekend he had a very interesting twitter conversation with Serhiy Leschenko and Rudy G. was also copied on the exchange.

I'm in the camp that thinks they did it for career advancement. Trump was a wild card and they might well have been removed. Conversely, they were already in the Obama/Clinton sphere and receptive to their platform, so job security was essentially guaranteed. Thinking Hillary! could not possibly lose, they went all in to ingratiate themselves with the "next" administration. They chose poorly.

And now I hope their dreams turn into virtual hell on Earth, their lives destroyed and some extended time in Federal PMITA Correctional Facility.

Posted by: Colorado Alex In Exile at May 13, 2019 04:06 PM (wCmLp)

De-enfranchising a large part of the state population is the whole point behind keeping the large states in one bloc, at least for those with evil intent. As long as the Donks control the CA State gov't, they'll defend it tooth and nail. They'll NEVER allow the more conservative parts of the state to secede.

It's no fun being in charge unless you have some Kulaks to oppress.

I know, let's feign alarm that she has exaggerated instead of having genuine alarm about the genuine problem she is raising the red flags over.

322 Calling this "FISA abuse" is like calling murder an illegal discharge of a handgun in city limits.

It was a deliberate weaponization of intelligence services to spy on political opposition with use of honey pots, entrapment, baseless warrants and raiding an attorneys office on a pretext to dig for dirt and violate DJTs 4th Amendment rights as well as ignoring centuries of jurisprudence and Constitutional law on attorney client privilege.

It was leaking illegally seized info to the press for maximum embarrassment, setting perjury traps for the DJT team with no underlying criminality, all the while deliberately ignoring manifestly proven criminal acts (Espionage Act, Hatch act, charity fraud) and not least including deliberate destruction of evidence by Hillary in an ongoing investigation.

It was ignoring obstruction of justice by Bill Clinton, Bills Russsian payoffs/Uranium one, ignoring a breathtakingly corrupt tarmac meeting with Loretta Lynch. It was Fusion acting as a cutout for Hillary, and feeding opposition research to the FBI in a blatant conflict of interest. It was a huge payoff to Andrew McCabe via his wife's campaign from Hillary's controlled DNC.

This calls for a bit more than a sternly worded "report" --and given Horowitz' track record it will probably be a lot of "concernings" and "possibles" and "referrals."

Anything less than prompt, clear and multiple high-level prosecutions, trials, long sentences to PMITA prison is at this point entirely inadequate. Tick tock. The Republic is winding down.

IIRC, the first FISA warrant that was approved did NOT disclose the source of the dossier was Hillary Clinton's oppo researcher.

This was the 2nd attempt at a warrant, the first one having failed, which itself is noteworthy given that FISA warrants are approved 99% of the time. They'll hire a ghostwriter to whip up a book about the trials and tribulations of running for prezzy in raaaaacist Amerikkka while not white, and then they'll use a million or so dollars in campaign contributions to buy up copies of the book and make themselves "best selling authors"! (Worked for Bernie, so why not them?)

376 The real problem for Mueller is that as to his testimony, he's caught in a trap of his own making. He has to repeat what was said in the report verbatim, or else answer questions as to "Why didn't you put that in the Report that you wrote yourself?"

Nah, all he has to do is imply (wink wink) that he was forced to limit himself by someone whose name he will not mention but rhymes with "carr."

No or I would have said so in my report. I said there were some areas where it was unclear including Trump telling Comey he wanted him to investigate the Russia dossier to see if it was real.

And you found that to be potentially obstruction? Are all the areas you thought might be obstruction like this?

Yes.

OK then, dismissed.

382 Bernie is about as annoying as they come. I give Trevor Noah (PBUH) credit for bringing the found footage of Sanders's cable access show. That shit was hysterical.

Very few supporters of Sanders actually have listened to a speech of his. They like the soundbites and the quotes, they like the little stuff they hear about him. He's an avatar for their viewpoints, he represents what they want, and that's what they like. Not Sanders the man who is old and weird looking and has a spotty past, and is a poor mumbling speaker.

The First Official Pontiac Firebirds Ever Built Are Selling on eBay

Before Hasselhoff drove an '82 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Knight Rider, before Stallone bought a '79 in Rocky II and before Burt Reynolds made the car famous in Smokey and The Bandit, there were VINs #001 and #002.

Those are the vehicle identification numbers for the first two production Pontiac Firebirds ever built -- back in 1967 when the car debuted. Both of these rare birds, a red convertible and a silver coupe, are for sale as a package deal ... on eBay.

459 I remember when 400ppm of carbon dioxide was the tipping point, after which shit would just start to spontaneously combust.

The OMG FOREST FIRES gang never really explained how it was they could accurately predict when temperate zones would be becoming drier when supposedly the CO2 forcing mechanism involved a *lot* more water vapor. I would expect the presence of more CO2 and higher mean humidity would have more of an effect on the flashpoint of timber than a temp increase of a hundredth of a degree, but what do I know?

469 Remember the dossier claimed Trump specifically asked for a hotel room
formerly occupied by Obama, inwhich to engage in the kinky pee stuff.
That's one of many tells that made it immediately obvious how fake and
ridiculous the entire report was.

That whole thing reeked of bullshit. Citizen Donald Trump had never had a whiff of any of that type of behavior attached to him before and we're all of a sudden supposed to believe he hired a couple of Russian hookers to do anything? He's turned down better, more expensive poontang, I'm sure. He's married to a supermodel, for goodness' sake.

This sounded so out of character for him as to be unbelievable from the start, yet the Progs took it all soooooo seriously, didn't they? Well, they're Progs and not very bright, so what did we expect? And to make it worse, they thought the American voting public was stupid enough to believe that, too.

470 I can't imagine why. I mean, both being built by General Motors in the same factory would largely have NOTHING to do with it.

Body by Fisher. Chevy put their motor in the bowtie one, Pontiac put theirs in the pointy badge one. I bought a lot of oddball parts for my 67 Camaro at the local Pontiac dealer. Except for engine parts.

473 Cruz - did you find evidence of obstruction?

Mueller: No or I would have said so in my report. I said there were some areas where it was unclear including Trump telling Comey he wanted him to investigate the Russia dossier to see if it was real.

Cruz : Then you should have stated specifically 'No obstruction found' in your report and not that you were unclear . Where did you get your law degree ? K-Mart?

477 Hilarious. DeBlasio was set to give a speech at about his new Green Deal initiative at Trump Tower in Manhattan today. He was going to speak in front of the building but bad weather forced the event inside the building's lobby area. Trump's staff turned up the music system so DeBlasio had to shout his entire speech becoming horse. What songs you ask? They Blasted "I've got you under my skin" and "Stranger in Paradise". Trump fans heckled the mayor and held signs saying "Worst Mayor Ever", "Trump 2020" and even "LGBT for Trump". Beautifully done!

480 I don't know how Joe DiGenova would know this

IG reports, unlike anything in the civilian world, are subject to review by the subjects and witnesses of the investigation, in an attempt to get 'both sides' of the story.

I'm sure that the initial investigation is well over and they are now in the review phase.

Joe DiGenova has been representing a number of FBI agents who were unhappy with what the "7th floor" were doing.

NSA has proof DNC hack was via flash drive!

484 There is an old Thai saying "no corpse, no tears".

The American political equivalent is "no arrests, no scandal". This rule, of course, only applies to the American left wing. A right wing scandal can be manufactured from anything.

My mother was telling me that Donald J. Trump's father didn't work out his inheritance taxes correctly, and may have been a sleazy guy.

So: for the entire counter-coup narrative to have any, ANY, reality outside of Fox News (where it is a 7x24 story) there need to be ARRESTS!

Now if Comey, Clappler, and Brennan are all arrested then the MSM will have to create graphics and cover it as a real story.

No arrests, no scandal.

486 I've never done a FISA warrant but I've gotten court orders before for electronic intercepts in criminal cases and here's the thing that's always bugged me about this deal: the law is pretty clear that when you go back in to get your re-authorization for the next period, 30 days, probably, you have to affirm under oath that the intercept is yielding results and describe them. In other words, the claims you made for probable cause in the first affidavit are being verified by the intercepted communications. You can't go in and say, "Nothing much happened last month, but give us another 30 days and we'll see what comes up." The court will rightfully say no (more like hell, no) and decline to re-authorize the intercept.
So, what did Strzok and the others say to the court in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th affidavits that made the court think this FISA intercept was warranted? We know Page - the intercepted party - has never been charged with anything. I think the FBI people are in big trouble on those affidavits.
