The Washington Post: Trump Has Launched an "All-Out War" Against... the Democrat Congress Which Has Launched Over 20 Investigations In Order to Derail His Presidency

Clown world.

"TRUMP'S ALL-OUT WAR AGAINST HOUSE PROBES"

That's the headline of a Washington Post story (print edition) about the clash between the White House and House Democrats over the latters' investigations of the former. The article notes that President Trump "is blocking more than 20 separate Democratic inquiries." According to the Post, this "amount[s] to what many experts call the most expansive White House obstruction effort in decades."

The Post's claim of obstruction is dishonest in at least some cases. It says that William Barr "has blocked Justice Department official John Gore from appearing for subpoenaed testimony on the addition of a citizenship question on the 2020 Census." The Post neglects to inform its readers that the administration is fine with having Gore testify, insisting only that he have a lawyer with him, a condition Democrats have rejected.

Moreover, the Post has the big picture backwards. It is House Democrats, having launched more than 20 separate investigations of the president, including many relating to his personal and business affairs (and those of family members), who are waging "all-out war" against Trump. They are engaged in the most expansive harassment campaign against a president in decades, and probably ever.

...

[A]t some point any self-respecting White House will conclude that the House is acting in bad faith. At that point, the pattern of harassment will be countered by a pattern of resistance.

That's what has happened here. The Democrats' all-out war on Trump has resulted in an all-out defensive war by the president.

The Post doesn't consider that this might be the case.

We are real news, Mr. President.

Meanwhile, House socialist radicals are threatening to block the payment of salaries to government workers who don't show up for their kangaroo courts.

Say, remember all the shrieking about shutting down the government? Think the #FakeNews media will similarly chastise Democrats for shutting it down now?

35 I'd also be interested in hearing how the House by itself could block payments to any executive branch employee. I would think it would require Senate approval at a minimum, and potentially at veto-proof majorities.

However, if that's not the case, well, let's see how well that law would play (and the media covers it) if a Republican House was making such threats to officials of a Democrat president.

36 You often create the Monster you fear.

Dems are afraid of a politicized Executive Branch, and so use demand that it does Politicized investigations for a Congress they don't actually work for.

They are using the DOJ to find political dirt on the Trump Team.

What will inevitably happen is that the DOJ will start to investigate THEM as well.

It's no novelty to say that there is not objective morality, but the real insight is that there is only in-group/out-group morality by virtue of human evolution. Selective morality isn't just a Democrat trait, but an evolutionarily reinforced maxim of human nature.

Found this guy in the comment section of an article at Quillette:

http://helian.net/blog/

He's got some real insights on this, including that selective morality allows us to maintain the best fictions of moral preening against those we determine to be the enemy.

Personally, I'm of the opinion (via Edmund Burke) that tradition (and religion, by extension) is the democracy of the dead. Our rules exist because way back, intelligent men determined that if we violate those rules, bad things happen. But at the same time, no morality can be objectively proven to exist, let alone absolute "good" or "evil".

The Democrats are just acting in their own group interest, against an existential threat from Trump. Hence the completely heretofore out-of-bounds behavior against their "enemies."

And when the Trumpentwatters address it, it's always the tired "Democrats aren't doing X, Democrats .....". Pro tip: it's *both* parties that aren't doing enough, or anything, and it was the GOP that did nothing for 2 full years under Trump.

Okay, this is wonky. This is a Full Faith and Credit clause case and, simply put, says that each state retains its sovereign immunity from private suits brought in the courts of another state. It overrules another SCOUTS precedent saying the exact opposite. Basically, if I live in FL, I can't sue NY for something. It's a reminder that we are a country of separate states and that people can't just sue any state in any forum. It's a Thomas decision so it is clearly written and fairly easily understood.

https://casetext.com/case/franchise-tax-bd-of-cal-v-hyatt-6

If you want to get all ragey about how much the law sucks, the underlying case involves claims by CA that a guy who moved to NV in 1991 did so as a sham to avoid paying CA taxes. The audit started in 1993. The guy protested the audit and there was an 11 year process. The appeal of that audit? Is still pending in CA.

This is the third time this case has been up before SCOTUS, by the by.

142 So when Trump invokes 10 U.S. Code 322 on the blue states for denying people their second amendment rights and blocking enforcement of immigration law, the MFM will...

10 U.S. Code 322:

"The President, by using the militia or the armed
forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he
considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic
violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it--

(1) so hinders
the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within
the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right,
privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and
secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are
unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity,
or to give that protection; or

(2) opposes or obstructs the execution
of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under
those laws.

In any situation covered by clause (1), the State shall be
considered to have denied the equal protection of the laws secured by
the Constitution."

In the case of the last paragraph the state loses representation in Congress and loses its electoral votes.

What do you think about the revelation over the weekend that Weismann may have been part of the attempt to frame Papadopolous AFTER Weismann had joined Mueller's goon squad?

The 10K that was given to PapaD to bring back to the US (which they would arrest him for bringing in at Dulles, but of course he left it in Greece) was coordinated by Weismann with help from Cyprus.

My .22 bolt gun - a Marlin XT-22 depends on the user to reset the firing pin spring, so it is much stronger. I have shot in excess of 3000 rounds in that rifle without a single misfire, and I have shot some really bad ammo that misfires regularly in my Marlin Model 60 auto rifle - without problems in my bolt gun.

Sadly, the strange creature has no chance as the Golden Scalp Weasel pounces, slinging nicknames and insults before dragging the carcass off to the side for a quick snack.

As I understand it, there is a low-voltage version of a surge suppressor. If the voltage drops too much, it shuts off the current entirely and cleanly. Then won't come back on for some number of minutes. This is to prevent damage from the surge-off-surge-off flash type outages.

436 Some misfires might come from that. But I've had .22 ammo fail to fire out of revolvers as well.

I think it's the primer compound not being distributed evenly. Some mfgs have better quality control that others.

If it were ammo problems then why does it not show up in my bolt action rifle? Bring the Winchester Super X or what ever you think has ammo problems, and it will work 100% reliably in my bolt gun.
Even double action revolver's don't have as strong a spring as the bolt gun does.

A real surge protector will, but there are a lot of "surge protectors" out there that are just outlet strips.

Posted by: sniffybigtoe at May 13, 2019 03:19 PM (xfb67)

A lot of those surge protectors are just an outlet strip with a couple of cheap $1 MOVs added inside. They work fine for a certain number of cycles, but the MOVs break down and eventually burn out. And yes, they BURN when they go bad.

Some of the larger ones used at the power entry to the building will burn into a pile of slag (we repair and replace some types of them here at work). I have some pretty spectacular photos of units that customers have sent in where the whole circuit board is melted. And they ask us to repair it....

Surge protectors that use gas discharge arrestors don't
generally burn out once they go bad, and they're usually built so that you can easily replace the gas tube. They're rarer, and more expensive though.
