I watched the Rod Rosenstein retirement ceremony yesterday because of course I did. Barr gave one of the speeches and was cracking jokes about the contempt citation and even asked the crowd who had a better deadpan expression, he or Rosenstein. Much hilarity ensued.

I doubt he is ever going to go to jail. His stuff either gets dismissed or DOJ offers him a new "deal" with no jail time.
Trump really does need to pardon him if he does get convicted. Other than not being 100% honest with Trump up front, he did nothing wrong.

Trump seems to be dropping clues he is going to take action. He has repeatedly said he wants to be sure this NEVER happens again, to any other president. You don't say that if you're taking the high road, doesn't sound like "not the hill to die on" rhetoric.
Think Sarah Sanders made this very clear when the Mueller report came out, and reminded people that Trump was charged with treason, which is punishable by death. Think she mentioned this twice. I's say that was a hint they took treason *seriously*.
Maybe I shouldn't be hopeful, but I like what I see lately. A seriousness about holding Dems accountable that the old GOP, such as the Bushs, never demonstrated, ever.

I will believe that when the DOJ drops the appeal of the ruling throwing out the Cliven Bundy dismissal.
I'm not sure I can express how horrifying I find that case. The DOJ wants to show it is serious about the rule of law and the rest of it?
Drop the appeal, fire every single person involved, and report the lawyers to the relevant bar associations in order to have their licenses stripped permanently.
Instead, the DOJ is out there oh well if there were mistakes, and we're not saying there were, they were just minor petty ones and we are awesome!

When I was a kid we lived in a rural setting. The previous owner had ducks, both Peking (white) and mallards (the ducks of color, as it were).

I agree, but look at what he's doing. It's the same old tired, union backing , BS from Democrats like it's 1979. He goes to Pittsburgh to a union hall, trying to tell the little crowd of union members that they didn't get a tax cut, they don't have jobs, they didn't get a raise, they are living hand to mouth, etc.
That's NOT the real world. We have manufacturing jobs being created everywhere. The steel, aluminum, and auto industries are expanding or opening plants in inner cities( Detroit), old suburban plants( GM selling Lordstown to the electric truck maker) and rural town steel plants. US Steel in Pittsburgh is reworking it's mill to the tune of $1B dollars.
And a 77 year old lying Democrat with fake teeth and botoxed face is trying to tell people in a Johnny Carson style of speech that none of this is happening and he wants the US to go back to the 'good old days of him and Barack".
