A Saturday Night Joke

A nun walks into the Mother Superior's office and plonks down into a chair. She lets out a sigh heavy with frustration.

“What troubles you, Sister?” asked the Mother Superior. “I thought this was the day you spent with your family.”

“It was,” sighed the Sister. “And I went to play golf with my brother. We try to play golf as often as we can. You know I was quite a talented golfer before I devoted my life to Christ.”

“I seem to recall that,” the Mother Superior agreed. “So I take it your day of recreation was not relaxing?"

"Far from it,” snorted the Sister. “In fact, I took the Lord’s name in vain today!” “Goodness, Sister!” gasped the Mother Superior, astonished. “You must tell me all about it!”

“Well, we were on the fifth tee, and this hole is a monster, Mother Superior, a 540 yard par 5, with a nasty dogleg right and a hidden green .. and I hit the drive of my life. The sweetest swing I’ve ever made. And it’s flying straight and true, right along the line I wanted .. and it hits a bird in mid-flight!”

“Oh my!” commiserated the Mother Superior. “How unfortunate! But surely that didn’t make you blaspheme, Sister!”

“No, that wasn’t it,” admitted the Sister. “While I was still trying to fathom what had happened, this squirrel runs out of the woods, grabs my ball and runs off down the fairway!”

“Oh, that would have made me blaspheme!” sympathized the Mother Superior."

“But I didn’t, Mother!” sobbed the Sister. “And I was so proud of myself! And while I was pondering whether this was a sign from God, this hawk swoops out of the sky and grabs the squirrel and flies off, with my ball still clutched in his paws!” “So that’s when you cursed,” said the Mother Superior with a knowing smile."

“Nope, that wasn’t it either,” cried the Sister, anguished, “because as the hawk started to fly out of sight, the squirrel started struggling, and the hawk dropped him right there on the green, and the ball popped out of his paws and rolled to about 18 inches from the cup!”

The Mother Superior sat back in her chair, folded her arms across her chest, fixed the Sister with a baleful stare and said .. “You missed the SON OF A BITCHING putt, didn’t you?"

Another Saturday Night Joke

AUNT CAROL

The teacher gave her fifth-grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it. The next day the kids came back and one by one began to tell their stories.
Ashley said, "My father's a farmer and we have a lot of egg-laying hens.
One time we were taking our eggs to market in a basket on the front seat of the car when we hit a big bump in the road and all the eggs went flying and broke and made a mess."
"What's the moral of the story?" asked the teacher.
"Don't put all your eggs in one basket!"
"Very good," said the teacher.

Next little Sarah raised her hand and said, "Our family are farmers too. But we raise chickens for the meat market. We had a dozen eggs one time, but when they hatched we only got ten live chicks, and the moral to this story is, 'don't count your chickens before they're hatched.'"
"That was a fine story Sarah.

Joey, do you have a story to share?"

"Yes, ma'am, my daddy told me a story about my Aunt Carol. Aunt Carol was a pilot in Desert Storm and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory and all she had was a flask of whiskey, a pistol and a survival knife. She drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't fall into enemy hands, and then her parachute landed right in the middle of twenty enemy troops. She shot fifteen of them with the gun until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, 'til the blade broke and then she killed the last one with her bare hands."
"Good heavens," said the horrified teacher, "What kind of moral did your daddy teach you from that horrible story?"

"Stay the fuck away from Aunt Carol when she's been drinking. H/T Stan

Love and Genius Award Winners.

Police went back to the apartment on May 7 and located the girl inside. She was naked at the time.

Police said the girl told them she and Shelton were planning to get married.

According to a criminal complaint, Shelton told investigators he was speaking to the girl on Instagram, rented a car and drove to Paducah, arriving at the girl's home on May 2

Police also said the girl was wearing a court-ordered ankle bracelet, which Shelton cut off with scissors and then drove her back to Glassport.

Shelton is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on May 21. A criminal complaint shows that he is charged with a felony count of interference with custody of children, along with a misdemeanor obstruction charge.

And now Buck Rogers. Erin Grey used to stimulate young Publius.

And some Star Trek TOS lore I remember. They had some hottie in some skimpy outfit, some alien chick Kirk was going to hook up with, and she had a wardrobe malfunction. Tits just popped right out.

There is a scene of Kirk, Spock, and Bones with shit-eating grins on their faces that made the cut from that. Spock was smiling.

Who never listens to you or any of your friends when they tell her to fake her own death, move to another city under an assumed name, and never think of him again because that will be easier and less expensive than hooking up with that asshole again?

Laid and married are two different things.

I'm pretty sure if I felt like having meaningless random sex, I could do it quite easily. Having someone who wants to marry you, not so much.

Because men really want sex and most women really want commitment (at some point). So it would be easy for a woman to have sex but easier for a guy to get married if he wants.

It hasn't been too difficult to find girls to casually date / hook up with. I mean, it's work, but it's doable.

But it's been beyond difficult to find a normal girl that I can't actually imagine myself settling down and having a life with.

At least that's my experience. And I'm a decent looking guy, good career, very educated, and I'd say pretty fun person all around.

Yeah, it seems to be just an imaginative exercise - no political agenda. When I was in school in the 80's they didn't do that. I'd never heard of it before. That doesn't mean anything, it predates the 80's, maybe it's a good sign they're bringing it back.

Instead I'm hanging out with vapid girls who are getting drunk off cheap vodka and getting us kicked out of bars, then I have to carry them home, drop them off with their roommates, and walk home to go on the 'hq at midnight on a Saturday (true story about my evening.)

501 I drink Kombucha to introduce an army of friendly bacteria in, to help me with my digestion. But then I drink a Valu-rite and diet Coke and the ethanol kills most of them. I feel like such a despicable traitorous asshole. Inviting them in and killing them. I'll need another to ease my conscience.

Just to be a completist, I need to give the objection: in the Magnificat there is the verse (Luke 1:46-47)

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

But if she needed a savior, she could not have been sinless.

Wrong. Jesus, as God the Son, preserved Mary from all stain of sin by the graces of His sacrifice.

508 Sorry, it's late and I'm wiped and my Aspberger's is kicking my but, so no I'm not going to go digging around for the exact explanation, but, in a nutshell, that is the Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception (too often confused with the Virgin Birth).

That is definitely a Protestant-Catholic difference, especially if a Protestant is Sola Scriptura. What a Catholic sees as doctrine some Protestants see as "I don't see this in the Bible" and there is a disconnect. I say this as a Protestant whose mother grew up Catholic and I know a bunch of Catholics, including one who is a theologian.

511 Eleanor, it's probably only a couple of us here at 2:30 a.m., but this joint runs end to end on the religion spectrum and we often bicker about it, particularly Catholics and pesky Protestants. Just don't take it personally.

And I haven't met you before. Hello!

You of all people know, Insomniac, there is no math at a MoMe.

Even at the corn hole games, scoring was prohibited.

But now that you mention it, there were a lot of newly dug mounds near the quiet side of the park.

you know, look closely at the front left, in line with the lower right corner of the trailer, there is something that looks like a tow line going from the trailer off to the right.

Yes, a very slender line, attached to the front cross-strut, it seems.

I guess the budget didn't allow for an outboard motor. Even a little 5-horse jobbie would putt that thing along at better than a walking pace.

Maybe she didn't know that she was spared original sin, and thus not in the same state as the rest of us. At least, that's how the nuns explained it to me - she was chosen by God b/c He knew she would end up accepting His will.
Mary's a BFD in Roman Catholicism, but the Protestants don't grant her any special status - at least not to the extent that we do. Asking for her intercession, etc.
I don't practice Catholicism, but I was marinated in it, so by default it's the "true" religion to me.

533 Building a cottage on family property. (Was my grandparent's at one time).

Doing it ourselves, except for the poured basement and the septic.

Code requires egress window for exit in basement. Design and lay of the land wouldn't accomodate a walk-out

535 Today is Mother's Day and I miss my Mama. She passed away in December 2001 and I don't think she ever got over 9/11. She was a hardworking gentle Baptist lady and was deeply hurt by that attack. Could not wrap her mind around such devilish savages and their acts, She was proud of America's response yet she was very thankful that none of her sons were still serving in our military. I'm thankful she is not around to see what America is becoming but I still miss her. So drink that cofveve and hit the road. Lets get into this moroning!
