AG Barr to Nadler: Have Fun Interviewing Each Other, Assholes

Nadler changed the rules today to bring in staff ringers to put Barr through more of the crap that Hirono put him through today.

Barr is a cabinet-level official, and there are protocols here: While they will consent to be interrogated by someone who's a rough constitutional peer (like a member of Congress), that doesn't mean they'll consent to be insulted and slandered by flunkies.

So, Barr says lol get fucked:

I looked the topic up out of curiosity, and apparently they have a theory they can do that based on some obscure language in an 1821 Supreme Court Case. (seriously) I don't know of any Congress that has ever actually done it.

The funny part is that even if they do it, the only way they have to enforce it is to call William Barr, the AG, up, and ask him to enforce it against himself. Since Congress has to rely on the Executive Branch for all of that enforcement stuff.

I just looked up exactly what Holder was held in contempt for. I was pretty sure I remembered, but I wanted to be certain. It was for that one time when the Federal Government leaned on FFLs to allow straw purchases to shady buyers, so they could track them once they'd gotten into the cartel hands. Only without the part about tracking them, or really anything else besides supplying weapons to cartels so they'd be used in crimes in Mexico and be traced back as having been sold in the US.

He was probably very busy and just didn't have the time to come answer questions about that.

If there's a silver lining to Snoozing Jeffro's reluctance to do his job, I think it'd be all the time that has passed that's allowed this process to go on while PDT has been busy making America great again. PDT gave the Dems enough rope to hang themselves and they did it in spectacular fashion. In fact, they haven't stopped and appear to be getting more and more irrational as time goes on.

It works the other way, though. We've seen Bill Clinton openly deceive the American people under oath for years, and all to save his oversexed ass. The problem for them is, the Republican base isn't taking it anymore. The GOP caucus, already heavily distrusted, has to blow every shred of credibility just to keep some top Dems out of jail.

And I don't think they'll manage it, just because there's a good portion of the GOP that will support Trump hosing down DC with gunfire. Hell, most of them will insist on participating.
