The Saturday Night Joke

Two men grow up together, but after college one moves to Maryland and the other to Texas. They agree to meet every ten years in Florida to play golf and catch up with each other.

At age 32 they meet, finish their round of golf and head for lunch.

“Where you wanna go?”

“Hooters.”

“Why Hooters?”

“They have those servers with the beautiful bosoms, the tight shorts, and the gorgeous legs.”

“You’re on.”

At age 42, they meet and play golf again.

“Where you wanna go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Again? Why?”

“They have cold beer, big screen TVs, and side action on the games.”

“OK.”

At age 52 they meet and play again. “So where you wanna go for lunch?”

“Hooters.

“Why?”

“The food is pretty good and there’s plenty of parking.”

“OK.”

At age 62 they meet again.

After a round of golf, one says, “Where you wanna go?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“Wings are half price and the food isn’t too spicy.”

“Good choice”

At age 72 they meet again.

Once again, after a round of golf, one says, “Where shall we go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“They have six handicapped parking spaces right by the door and they have senior discounts.”

“Great choice.”

At age 82 they meet and play again. “Where should we go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“Because we’ve never been there before.”

“Okay.”

Regular readers of The ONT know that this Cob is always, always looking out for you. Tonight is no different.

Although there are is no real cure for common colds, you will benefit a lot from a bit of whiskey.

Namely, you can relieve the inevitable winter cold with the help of a combination of lemon juice, honey, whiskey, and hot water, and this hot toddy will treat nasal congestion with ease, and soothe the body like a bowl of hot chicken soup.

It might be the best city in the world, I'm still not moving there.

Vienna has been ranked the most liveable city in the world for the 10th year in a row.

The Austrian capital topped the new Mercer Quality of Living Survey, whose 2019 ranking was dominated by European cities. Thirteen out of the world’s 20 best places to live are in Europe.

Zurich, Switzerland's biggest city, came in second place for overall quality of living, followed by Auckland, Munich and Vancouver in joint third place. The Canadian city has ranked the highest of any North American city over the past decade.

Central planning, what is it good for? A twelve year supply of toilet paper, that's what.

Wiped out: Town flushes final roll of 12-year toilet paper supply
A Bavarian town needed 12 years, but it has finally reached the last roll of a supersized toilet paper order. While the town saved €1,000 with the bulk order, it's planning to establish regular deliveries of two-ply.

Electric shock for the Johnson? It seems to be in the in thing.

When men struggle to perform in the bedroom due to erectile dysfunction, most resort to Viagra or Cialis. But a few brave souls strap their penises to low-intensity extracorporeal shockwaves, as part of a therapy known as ESWT. It involves painless acoustic waves stimulating blood flow and, in theory, this should lead to better and more frequent erections.

When it comes to planning he is a Genius Award Winner.

STATESVILLE, N.C. - A former Statesville officer, who had been on the run for weeks after lying to police, turned himself in Thursday.

They said he filed a false police report by claiming someone stole his unmarked police car.

Search warrants in the case said Christopher Rivera, a former Statesville police officer, claimed someone hit him in the face outside his apartment and stole his police car. Seven hours later, it was found wrecked about 5 miles away.

Little Johnny is hanging out with Grandpa on the weekend.

Grandpa lights a cigarette and little Johnny says he wants one too.

Grandpa asks "Does your penis reach your anus?"

Little Johnny checks. "No, Grandpa."

"Then you aren't old enough to have a cigarette," says Grandpa.

Later, Grandpa cracks open a beer. Little Johnny wants one. Grandpa asks "Does your penis reach your anus?"

"No Grandpa"

"Then you aren't old enough to drink beer."

Later, Little Johnny gets some cookies out of his backpack that his mom had packed for his snack. Grandpa eyes them and they look pretty good.

"Little Johnny, could I have one of those cookies?" he asks.

"Does your penis reach your anus, Grandpa?" Little Johnny asks.

"Why yes it does Little Johnny" says Grandpa.

"Well then go f*ck yourself, these are my cookies" Little Johnny replies.

The people I visited in Vancouver lived in a one-bedroom apartment on the eleventeeth floor with a little balcony the size of a broom closet. No car (you don't really need one in downtown). Better there than in practice where the majority are.

If a doctor has admitting privileges at a major hospital he must pass their board of review. These facilities don't take second stringers.

Therefore if one chooses a doc with privileges at an A+ hospital then one may assume he's an A+ doctor.

194 That giant SUV is inspired, though an admittedly poor execution on the inspiration.

It's obviously a surplus mobile crane chassis. Problem is, they built up the cab over the location of the former crane systems body, which is if course, way the hell too far aft on the real-estate.

All kinds of way to design a more useful cab and cabin, further forward, likely lofted a foot n' a half or so. Which would leave room for a nice, staked flatbed or cargo box to sit where the cab is now.

And then the thing would be perhaps slightly useful for more than just sand-candy.

If they want to perfect the thing, they need to hire me. I'd install a few pintle and ring mounts for some nice belt fed hardware, too.

And I'd paint it in a Texas Flag motif, of course.

216 To make your Shake n' Bake into some right damn tasty grub, simply add the following:

1 slightly rounded teaspoon, ordinary black pepper.

1 level teaspoon, cayenne pepper.

1 tablespoon, garlic powder.

Use bone-in, skin-on, large chicken breasts. The bone adds more flavor than you might imagine. "Boneless-Skinless" is flavorless dreck, in comparison.

Bone-in thighs have the most flavor though.

Bone-between thighs has the most fun. (thought I'd type that in before y'all pervs jumped on the chance soon as I hit "post") lol

You can add slightly to those ingredient quantities I listed, but go slowly, a batch at a time.

That stuff can get HOT, and damn FAST.

400 degree oven, UN-greased baking sheet, cook till the breading shows about 5% to 10% char. That'll be appx 35 to 40 min. for large breasts.

Serve with ice cold beer.

Enjoy!

I'm finally taking lessons after learning little bits over the years and acquiring three guitars. The one thing kicking my ass? Strumming the acoustic. Or, rather, the strums where you skip the strings on a particular up or down stroke.
Which reminds me, I haven't practiced today. BBIA half hour or so.

Jewells, an axe that's been played over the years will sound better than if it had never been played at all, although we'd all love to get our hands on an old vintage guitar that's been forgotten in someone's closet for a long time. Something about the vibrations that helps age the wood and the resin.

I'm sure he'd let you borrow it back if you asked him real nice. A B7 chord is murder for me to try to play. After all these years of playing one note at a time, any more notes than that frightens and confuses me.

300 First Blue Angels show of the season today. El Centro. Spectacular day (and only 82 - it can be in the 90s there, in effing early March).

Interesting, there clearly was a mechanical that forced one of the "solo" planes out of the show - the two solo planes did only one of their show-center moves, while the diamond of 4 circle for their next thing, then - nothing. And one of the spares fired up, taxied, and took off. But no announcement, which is odd. Anybody who knows these performances could tell immediately. Anyway, I think they threw in some extra stuff at the end, too.

Kind of shocked and disappointed by the decline in static displays over the last few years. Part of it is, of all things (I think) NATO defense spending issues. There used to be British Apache helos and personnel there (they used the ranges in AZ), and Dutch F-16s (they trained at Luke AFB in AZ), even Luftwaffe over from Holloman in NM. And more domestic historical aircraft.

There was an F-35, 2nd time I've ever seen one. Pilot wasn't very flexible - asked him if I could play with the hush-hush high tech helmet that they use, he said nah, it costs $400K and is sorta secret.

320 Years ago, we had just moved to Grand Rapids and we were checking out different grocery stores. Meijer's was so different from any store we had ever shopped in. I remember talking to my mom and telling her that we were picking out our produce and if we turned around we could try on shoes! So, odd!

When we moved back to WI, Walmart was just coming to our area. Now we have Meijer's here, too. (It's much nicer)

The union itself was initiated by Fidel Castro, and he had designated Brazilian President Lula da Silva (now incarcerated in Brazil on corruption convictions ) as his successor. .

President Moreno apparently has referred to the Union as replicating the worst vices of the 21st Century, and referred to the building itself as an ode to waste

They are are serious about buskers there. Want to get your busk on at the beach? Tough titty. There are signs and everything: "NO BUSKING". There's even a fine.

I was a little scared, because I had never heard the word and didn't know what it meant. What if I was just buskish by nature? What if I were just busking along in my wonted busky way, oblivious to the offense, and a passel of Mounties came along and threw me in busking jail? What do they even do to you in busking jail? I don't think I'd flourish in that kind of environment.

Anyway someone in the group who lived there knew what it meant and assured us that, whatever our diverse and manifold defects of character, we were not, at that moment, buskers. Which was quite a relief, let me tell you.

It is not a true Robespierre moment unless she tried to shoot herself in advance of being seized by the mob, and only managed to blow off her lower jaw, was left untreated on a conference table until it was obvious that she would not die on her own, and then beheaded in the public square while in excruciating pain after a summary trial notable only by disinterest.

That's a proper Robespierre moment.

Unless we are talking about an Agustin Robespierre moment.

Lefties are loving all over Chelsea for her "composure, class, grace," blah blah. And she's so undeserving!

That show shared the same lame gimmick as Star Trek: whenever the Seaview (or the Enterprise) got hit by enemy fire, turbulence, force fields, or monsters, they would tilt the camera to and fro, and the cast would run from one side of the set to the other.

It is fun to be able to impress her with what she thinks is a new dish when in reality she used to make it all the time.

493 >>It is NOT "chili"
LOL

I mentioned earlier that mom does not do spicy. It wasnt until i was married and out of the house that i discovered food with flavor!

494 I'm okay, thathalfrican! I put one foot in-front-of-the-other and I get through the day.

Believe me, I could whine about my situation, but where does that get me?

I hope your child is in good health and might you continue to produce Restaurant-Quality American children!

495 "I took Mrs AlaBAMA to skyline chili before a OSU game. Told her it was a huge tradition, while smiling.
Mrs AlaBAMA and I aren't married anymore.
Draw your own conclusions.

You should not have done that to her.

...and you know it.

Interesting topic, as I believe our tastes in food are related to how good or bad a mother or father cooked.

Glad to hear it and I couldn't agree more just gotta put your head down and move forward. Child is doing great, the kid is stubborn, hard headed and a ball of high energy. Mrs. Halfrican and I are discussing it, maybe in a few years.

She used to fry okra in the house. IN THE HOUSE!

Deserved it. You can't get the smell of fried okra out of the house.

499 Speaking of Skyline chili I saw it on Man V Food - love that show - and I thought it LOOKED good.

If you can get the smell of chitlins out of the house I can't imagine you can't get the smell of fried okra out.

I seriously considered pressure washing the interior of my home.

502 I really liked Man v Food too. Didn't he have to stop doing that type of show because his doctor told him he was killing him self?

503 Bama - when I was a kid my mother was taking me to my great grandmothers house and she watched me start looking around outside trying to pinpoint the where the smell was coming from. We rolled up to my GGs house, I walked inside yelled "THE SMELL FOLLOWED US INSIDE!"
I started gagging, ran out of the house, jumped in my moms Jeep and watched as my mom and GG were laughing at me from the screen door.
I sat in that Jeep for almost an hour before my mom came out, she told me what the smell was and we went home.
I don't remember why the host quit MvF tbh. I'm gonna look it up now.

504 Found the answer; he got fat, fell into depression and said fuck it. He did Man Finds Food/Adam's Secret Eats after he left MvF tho.

That's a great story! Isn't it cool what sticks with us from our childhood?

I remember my mom laughing as I got into a patch of jalepeno peppers she had planted in the garden. Somehow, I squished one and got it in my mouth.

Her laugh was a way of calling me an idiot. I don't disagree.

Well, he did eat like ten people on that show. At least it got him famous. If that's a positive thing.

I really liked that episode where he went to that renovated gas station to eat some ghost chili pepper wings or some such.

He was leaking from every hole. Lol

510 Did you purposefully squeeze the jalapeno or what? Either way that's funny AF.

Posted by: thathalfrican - GOOD at March 17, 2019 06:37 AM (IYHxL)

511 You know. Kids. Squishing stuff was par for the course. Somehow got the stuff in my mouth. Never really liked jalepenos after that.

Lol
