It's a total crap out. That's why there are legal standards that must be met before the US government invades an individuals civil rights. Generally, that's "probable cause," but certain government actions require a showing of more or less before the government can take action.
And THIS is the entire issue here with McCabe, the DOJ, the FBI and Trump. To open up a criminal investigation and to get warrants to collect evidence protected by Trumps' and other investigation targets' civil rights, the government has to show probable cause. Over on the intelligence investigation side of things, I understand the standards to be much less and much different. I believe the FBI can open a counter-intelligence "preliminary investigation" upon showing "information or an allegation," that doesn't even have to be "credible." But a "full investigation," which is the type that authorizes the use of electronic surveillance and search warrants, require "the reasonable indication of wrongdoing." A low bar, but if it fails not the "reasonableness" count, they're done.

I'd guess there was some sorta fundraising connection, and maybe even some photos of the two together, but that's pure conjecture.

Pickett's charge, Little Round Top, and First Minnesota bridging the gap were important. But the most jarring thing might be the arrival of the Confederates and as they crest the hill, the entire Union battle line is flanked and stretched in the front of them. They couldn't get the orders issued and a huge opportunity was lost.
The whole battle was as close-run a thing as exists in warfare.

Over a year ago, I saw a Fox talking head interviewing a regional ex-FBI manager, who said that the Clinton investigation was kicked upstairs, to the 7th floor (FBI leadership - Comey, McCabe, Strozk, all of the players were there).
He said that in the twenty-some-odd-years he was with the FBI, he had never seen that happen. Ever.
That statement has stayed with me all this time.

This wasn't actually realized until many years later, because the heroism of the 20th Maine was inspirational to the war effort. Chamberlin was awarded the CMH for his role in that battle.
Pickett's charge was madness. Lee made at least two colossal blunders at Gettysburg, because he really had no idea what he should have done.
Longstreet wanted the whole army to move off around the Union flank and get behind them. The whole campaign was predicated on getting between the Union Army and Washington, and making them come to fight the Confederates in a defensive position.
Lee was blind because his cavalry was riding off somewhere else. They were supposed to be on Ewell's flank screening the Confederate Army from Union Cavalry but got themselves on the wrong side of the Union Army column marching north.

That is true but Lee was literally at the end of his rope both in manpower and supplies.
While he could get some stuff from plundered Union supply columns, he simply did not have enough effectives to exploit any successes he may have made.
And if he had won at Gettysburg there were two more Union Armies forming that he would have had to deal with in just a few weeks.

Imma also say that had the Confederates taken Little Round Top, they could have won the Battle of Gettysburg because they could have then rolled up the Union flank before all the reinforcements arrived. I say could have, not definitely. Momentum is a thing - by failing to take Little Round Top, the Confederate Army started out a series of stalemates and losses that had they had the momentum going their way would have ended up differently.

I talked to another friend who's been there and said the same thing. He told me he's not into ghosts etc. But he said there was a few times the hair on the back of his neck stood up and he felt something. I am looking forward to it and going to try and take it all in.

For weeks after the battle, people buried bodies wherever they could, many in ditches nearby.
Then later for the cemetery, they went and dug those bodies up, and they had these S shaped wrought iron hooks they used to drag the bodies....
Creepy.
