I love the two-step here. Pointing at the other guy in a way that is obviously trying to retain (regain?) cred for being really a conservative. Really.
But he did make one interesting point. He took issue with Coulter on whether the Wall was the core of Trump's appeal. He argued that it was in fact shit storms like this, and the fact that Trump doesn't cower like the rest*, to which he really owes his victory. Hate to say it, but I think AP has a point there.

I know what you're thinking: "Why should I try a shit sandwich?" I might have felt the same way a few days ago, but now I'm a believer.
I was chatting with an administration insider over the weekend. During a sidebar in the conversation, it was intimated to me that President Bush's favorite late-night snack was a "shit sandwich" with tartar sauce on the side. That encouraged me to give it a shot with an open mind. I know the president is intuitive yet discriminating in his choices, and isn't afraid to go against the conventional wisdom. He also needs a lot of energy to get up early and fight the GWOT each day.
So I tried it. The verdict? Earthy, no-nonsense flavor. The tangy contrast of the tartar sauce is initially off-putting, but like Bush, I'm in this game for the long term. I'll give it some time to grow on me. It's easily a B+ snack.
UPDATE: My insider friend just called me again; apparently I misheard his end of the conversation, it was a fish sandwich. Well, that shouldn't surprise me. In addition to introducing bold new ideas, Bush has always shown an appreciation for the traditional eating values that made this country great in the first place.

They can bemoan the dangers of having no press and the threat to the republic if we reject them all they want but in the end if you cannot and will not do your most basic job of research and confirmation... you're the ones to blame and you're the ones who need to change, not your customers.
Being held to account is part of the job, because you're protected by the constitution from government interference and the law from legal attack. You cannot imagine that somehow there's never a cost for failure or some kind of professional impact for incompetence.
The whole Buzzfeed round had everyone saying "if true" which was such a horrific tell. the previous generation of newscasters would have said "if true is what you ask about whether you publish something, not what you ask when its published." Your job is to deliver information and facts, not speculation and analysis.
You do not come to people and say "if this story is true then the consequences are Y" because now you're just making up scenarios. If the moon was made of solid beef jerkey we could feed the world for centuries. That is not a news story, its just fantastical speculation.
Twice in less than a week you've had egg all over your faces and the first reaction each time has been anger at being caught and fear at how this affects your politics and jobs. Learn to do your job of you're going the way of the dodo as fewer and fewer people give a damn what you say.

Most of these people have uses, and are even great, within a certain sphere. Jonah Goldberg can write a great column. George Will has made some amazing conservative speeches. Ben Shapiro is practically unequaled for wading into college campuses and pwning naive leftists. Hugh Hewitt has been bringing reason to people on the fence between the sides for a long time, and is a very skilled interviewer.
I am stunned by how so many of them have voluntarily become useless for the conservative cause, in this, the era of our greatest completed and prospective victories, just because the guy achieving these victories is "not one of us, darling."

This was one of the things that got me about Passion of the Christ. It always seemed to me that Gibson was trying to present a lexicon of human failing- in all it's forms- to show the need for Christ.

In the late 80's, I was unit supervisor to a unit manager who had a fan club. Black guy, self-taught gospel pianist who was in demand as an accom accomp feller what played the keyborads for popular touring gospel quartets. After some months of that, and talking with some other senior black federal civil service managers, I had pretty well resolved that Rush was "a black thing."

He has couched his service as something more for years, he was a HVAC technician, obviously important work, but certainly not a point of the arrow that he implies. Suggesting that he was the point man and a "Recon Ranger", which has never been uttered by any Reconnaissance Marine ever, unless singing the timeless C130 cadence on a unit run, is a blatant falsehood. Of course, he was a guy who just didn't feel like reporting for duty several times, so a lie from a guy who could not uphold his end of his obligation is no real surprise.

They had been at a friendly rally all day, probably the first time many had been to DC or even out of Kentucky. It was both a school and religious activity. And with the day done, the kids were waiting for the bus.
Then out of nowhere, the Black whatevers shout the most vile names at them, again and again.
They continued to wait together for the bus.
Then maybe 10 minutes later, Chief SH**ing Bull walks out of his way to stand right in front of one of the kids, getting in his face with that drum, pounding and shouting. It was easy to tell by their reactions, most kids had never seen anything like this before.
Then the pic/video that told the false tale of what really didn't happen.
Additional video from other public sources tells us what really happened. Do the kids hit them? No. They shout out school chants to show unity, as if it was a basketball or football game and they were cheering from the stands. What an amazingly responsible response!
Then the obscene reaction by the vast majority of the press. Remember, they have "communications" degrees, or "journalism" degrees. They aren't some people who got together and started a blog. They are being paid to lie. Sometimes, exceptional money.
All lying is put out to benefit the ones that are lying. Why are the press, except for the "honest" press of Fox, Daily Caller, Rush, JJ's Morning Report, Breitbart, and a few others, lie about this. Why is that?
