ABC News Was in the Same Area As Jim Accoster, and in the Short Time They Were There, Border Patrol Caught Fifteen Illegal Immigrants Crossing the River to Illegally Enter the US

Update:

Thanks to Alex the Chick.

John Sexton's post shows you what was really going on in McAllen, Texas -- in the areas Parachute Jim didn't bother checking out.

He preferred exploring the environs in the Double Whopper With Cheese District, abutting on Have It Your Way Lake.

The video is from McAllen, Texas -- same town as Sassy Jim's dateline, where he claimed there was no problem at the border at all.

Strangely enough, illegal immigrants choose to illegally cross the border in the parts of McAllen where there's not a fence instead of the places where there is one. Go figure!

He notes that CNN just doesn't seem interested in reporting the actual facts about the border. CNN just wants to do Trump Dunk bullshit for ratings and partisan cheerleading. Video below.

How bad is it? It's so bad that even a former CNN reporter is mocking Jim Accost Her for his shameless clickbait hackery and partisanship.

But Accost Her wasn't done yet: "This actually happened," he snarked.

This drew a rebuke from another reporter, pointing out that in fact tunnels were a new tactic and that new barriers would be specced to prevent tunneling:

A Slapweasel is simply the mortal enemy of weasels.

Having a Slapweasel around for too long, however, is folly.

122 Tunneling is fairly new (last couple decades). They are also very infrequently used to smuggle people. Most tunnel exits on the US side are not large enough for a person to get through, only smaller drug packages. The big marijuana bundles are not smuggled through the tunnels, only the compact stuff. A tunnel is a lot of effort and cost to dig, and will be eventually detected, so the cartels only use them for high value cargo. Humans are not high value cargo, and masses of people emerging from buildings at odd hours would lead to tunnel discovery really quick.

The new wall designs have footings 20 feet down. The cartels would then have to go down at least 30-35 feet to get under that. Lots of places the bedrock is at that level. Good luck with that.

183 169 It's also worth noting for the assholes who think it can be cut through that someone could also blow it up with demo packs,
use an artillery piece on it (trail or mobile, your choice)
or even perform an air drop in zones behind the wall, after which the Parachute Immigrant force can spread out to derail the NAZI troop trains that will be rushing defenders to reinforce FESTUNG TRUMP, or maybe to blow up key bridges to keep the armored units from counterattacking the Mexican Immigrant beachheads.

So, Jim, how fast can you tunnel down say, 10 feet, and then go horizontal for another 100, then back up on the other side, through any kind of soil.

328 I think what makes Fletch (and Three Amigos) work despite having a lot of Chevy Chase in it is that in Fletch and 3Amigos, he suffers. He has bad things happen to him, he has setbacks. Sometimes he's the butt of the joke. Sometimes people pull a gun on him and he wets himself.

So he's not just 'above it all' and arrogant all the time, which is the really unattractive quality of Chevy Chase.

Plus the writing is good, the supporting casts are good. Jokes are set up and delivered with perfect timing.

I just brought this up with someone two hours ago. I was making the point that the nihilstic movies about intelligence operators that I used to think were absurd I now realize are about 85, 90% true.

that and the Le Femme Nikita remake, Point of No Return. Terrible movie, but it portrays DC as basically a third-world capital where assassins can operate freely and without consequence, because everyone just gets paid to keep it quiet.

Not a good movie, a bad one in fact, but I remember being impressed by the matter-of-fact style of bleak nihilism.

I was naive enough to have thought these were silly fantasies when I was younger.

I thought Pierce was a solid character, if at times a bit too predictable (get it he's old so he's racist and sexist). Certainly not as funny as Abed or Troy or The Dean or Chang.

---------------------------

I always thought Pierce was a better character in earlier episodes. Yes, he was racist and sexist (because, old), but he didn't seem to be doing it to be mean. To him, that's just how the world was. And he seemed to care about his friend.

Later on, he just became an ass.

433 >>> long. The story is great and well told, but since its biographical there's no real story arc to it. Just events.

There was a looser kind of arc to it. After the death of his wife, Earp becomes self-pitying, nihilistic, and criminal. Then he becomes a lawman but remains nihilistic and thuggish. Over the years he gains more of the morals he once had had, especially after he met the actress character.

It's a loose redemption story. the anecdote at the end about him staring down an armed man to spare a man from a lynching sort of points up that along with the bad stuff, he did some good stuff too.

Now I like Martin Short, and especially David Spade. (he was great in "Just Shoot Me"). I think the problem was that there weren't any current film writers who were able to come up with scripts that could take advantage of what they could do. At least none that had the ability to get a studio to back them.

Au contraire. Every time I go into the local Pennsylvania 'Wine and Spirits' store and don't fill up the shopping cart like Nicholas Cage in the opening moments of 'Leaving Las Vegas' I feel uplifted.

506 And, although there's a Nood, I want to defend Wyatt Earp, the real person and not the morose movie. Which kinda sucks.

Wyatt Earp was not an angel and he was not a bad guy. The Wyatt Earp movie tries very hard to give him a character arc it doesn't need to. The movie Tombstone does more than well enough without fictionalizing Earp (though Tombstone does slant some facts, it slants surprisingly few and none about Earp himself)

Wyatt Earp was a hard man living in a hard time. Opening up the West was no job for the weak and the soft. To deal with former confederates, wild men, indians and drunk cowboys uncountable, you had to be hard as an oak tree and have all your bark still on.

That was Wyatt Earp. He was a gambler, a pimp, a lawman, a philanderer and a land speculator. He lived a big life and made it out alive. He killed armed men eyeball to eyeball and did it without getting a scratch on him.

You don't need to fictionalize his life. The reality was large enough.

i think you might be confusing Allison Brie for the NPC Block of Wood Bree Larson.

Allison Brie is a tight little unit.

Videodrome is problematic. It has Debbie Harry's boobies. But James Woods gets to enjoy them.

I know he's one of us and he's an excellent actor and all of that but he's just creepy and he doesn't deserve Debbie Harry's boobies. I do.

The overall consensus was that Earp was not a horse thief. Of course, there's a lot of back and forth about his life and he had an interest in the legend himself, once he was working with Hollywood.

But there was a lot of dirty pool back then and false accusations were pretty common, especially when politics were involved. Earp was a Republican in areas where Democrats often dominated local politics.

The more things change...

515 I saw an interview with Kathy Ireland long after her movie days had passed and she sounded normal.

During the interview she was asked about her voice and said she took voice lessons to change her voice.

"When I tried to order pizza the person on the phone would ask to speak to my mom".

Of course what impressed me most was that a super model would eat pizza.

You have to 'play the game' with these fvckers. Go online to their website. Navigate through a ton of menus to get to 'Cancel Account'. Play the game a few more minutes. Tell them just how thoroughly they suck, invoking images of lemons and Led Zeppelin. Click a few more times to confirm.

Finally, finally, they'll suggest, "How about a free month while we figure out the issue?"

My experience? They figure out the issue in a week.

well given a lot of people say he was also a pimp, I'll take "Horse Thief" as a stand in for "Any disreputable actions he may have committed."

eh, there's a problem in the wall. I don't know if it's my landlord of the cable company that is responsible for fixing it. It's not the cable that's the problem, per se, but a faulty connection into/inside of the wall. When it rains, which is always, it goes shitty.

Fair enough.

Though stealing a horse was akin to murder, back in the day. A horse was your livelihood, maybe your life if you live in arid regions. It's why horse thieves often just got hanged when caught.

521 I mean, honestly, he ran with a whore and I imagine she did tricks when she was with him and I also imagine he protected her and stuff. Maybe he wasn't a true pimp by trade but just did pimpish things for his whore/girlfriend/whatever.

It's not a great part of any of the movies.

524 No love for "8 mm" among the morons, huh.

It's one of my favorite Nick Cage movies.

Great tense set pieces with scumbags.

It stays true to its story arc - a rarity from Hollywood.

But, what I love the most is that "The Machine", the big bad snuff-murdering monster,

is just this big, dumb fuck.

Just like he would be in real life. (same thing I liked about Season One of "True Detective")

Check out "8 mm" if you haven't seen it.

It's actually pretty great.

Yeah, he did provide protection and obviously didn't mind what she did for a living, even profited from it.

AND he dropped her when he met a better, hotter deal. (Actress, so still a hooker...)

On the other hand: he stayed with girlfriend #1 for years, long enough to be more or less common law husband to her. He wasn't running a string of girls. And once he did find the love of his life, he stuck with her til the day he died.

People are complicated. Wyatt Earp, maybe more than most.

See also: Bat Masterson, who also was ran pretty wild and worked for a while as a rough lawman but eventually settled down and died an old man.

Rain in the connections takes the signal strength down a couple. Then it goes to the nearest person, who is fine, but they take a couple db away, then the next person does the same. If you're at the end of the line, tough shit. I *was* the person at the end of the line. I told them to eat shit and die when they wouldn't do anything about the issue.

Not many options to get them to fix the issue, which involves rain proofing the connections. Or having some dude in India on speed dial.
