Seriously, if the whole toxic masculinity thing had started 20 years ago with the idea of limiting dangerous behaviors more common in men than women, it might have taken a hold in the larger culture. The only disturbing part is her arms and hands seem too long and out of proportion. Still, it's her face that captures the viewer's attention before anything else. This is one of the livliest one person portraits I've seen. It is very effective.

Colors are cool, the girl is pretty, and the entire thing just evokes fun. I'd hang this one above a nice walk-up bar or something.
Probably the first painting of a person that I've ever liked. And I like it a lot. I'd buy a print of this if I had somewhere to hang it. But I've already got a fine Dogs Playing Poker collection in my home office, and some charcoal drawings of various poker hands above the bar.
But I'm gonna' keep this one in mind as I walk around the house. To me - it's that good.

I always though it would be cool if when the POTUS was giving a speech or in the middle of a debate in an election that, when PDT made a salient point about an issue that was backed up with hard numbers somewhere, there should be a trusted Chief of Staff with the PDTS twatter box ready to press post for charts and graphs that PDT just mentioned. Say a prayer with me for my IPspouse. Her oldest (31yo) has a Meth addiction problem, has relapsed again while on parole. I caught a glimpse of a letter the other day saying that if he didn't report to his PO by tomorrow (hint: he wont) there would be a warrant for his arrest and he'd return to lockup. She doesn't know I know, and as one of those "so damn independent Scandi girls" would never tell me or let on it's eating her up from the inside. Still, I know, and I can tell it is..
I truly hate the revolving door of our penal system. He has a pattern, he will get clean, there is a lot of help while he's inside. But once he's out, predictably, he crashes.
It's wearing on her, and us, more and more every time it happens.

Approved! How insane does a company have to be to insult, not just half, but possibly 65% of its customer base? (Yes, women use razors, but not I suspect as often as men.)
I'll stick with my vintage Gillette razors, which will put not one penny in their coffers, and artisan and everyday shave soaps not made by Gillette/P & G. Blades, well, some are still made by Gillette overseas, so I might have to stick with them, or find a good brand that won't enrich this virtue-signaling company.

It's trite, but you have to want to. I have a brother who some serious addictions (don't want to go into detail). He landed in jail for a few weeks due to a minor infraction and had a rough time of it (they withheld some simple medical care) but came out reasonably clean.
He liked how much better he felt and decided to really give getting clean a go. He relapsed once or twice, but never seriously and came back out of it. Things are looking better.
It starts from within, I think, which makes it really hard if they don't want to or don't care. Once they do care, though, the turnaround can be rapid and dramatic. If it's okay, I'll pray that he comes out *wanting* to clean up. If he does, he will if my experience is remotely normal.

I loved it.
It was weird.
It became a shadow of its former glory after they took out the little gas fired assembly line that they flame broiled the suckers on. I remember a time when they're be 30 people in line inside the store, with another 30 people lined up outside the store. Waiting patiently, with the scent of that delicious meat lofting in the air.

The issue isn't that the banks are private and free to do as they please, it's that the PEOPLE have the freedom to put their money in banks or not, instead of using it for the socially appropriate causes (such as fighting climate change).
Cut out the middle man altogether. Don't just nationalize the banks, but dictate what people can and can't use their money for.

P&G have a huge portfolio of products. Once they make a move they stick with it. Look how long they've stuck with Pringles. It never hit the numbers they thought it would but giving up on it would mean P&G is human and gets things wrong. No way will let the market think of them as human.

Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively that Jason Reitman will direct and co-write an upcoming film set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie, which was directed by his father, Ivan Reitman.
"I've always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans," Reitman says. "This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the '80s happened in the '80s, and this is set in the present day."

Jason Reitman is an underappreciated and very quality director with intimate ties to the original series.
He's yet to do anything remotely big budgeted, but he's cut his teeth really well on smaller movies for over a decade.
I think there's solid room for hope.

If you looked at the image of the facial nerve I sent you a link to a while back, the eye is at the very *end* of the nerve. Any progress in re-awakening the nerve along the pathway is very good. But the eye is still at the end of the line.

By allowing them to arrive unfettered in mass numbers, provide them with housing , food, medical care, etc. then start pounding the table that these poor people living here should have voting rights and citizenship. Amnesty and instant Democrat voters for decades.
The model is there, i.e. black communities. Put them in self imposed communities due to constant drumbeat of racism that they can only fight by living together, then use that same claim of racism to tell them for decades that only Democrats will continue to provide them with what they need to survive, and moreover , won't judge them on their decisions ( unlike racist whitey) or insist they improve their lot in life, and they will have Democrat voters for life.
What is it, like 90% of blacks vote for Democrats? John James, a black man , couldn't get a majority of blacks to vote for him in Detroit because he wasn't a Democrat, is a perfect example of this emotional blocking of a minority.
And the Dems are doing the same thing to Latinos.

On one hand there's my annoyance that Hollywood can't do anything but make increasingly crappy sequels and reboots of already existing IPs until they squeeze every ounce of life and money out of a franchise.
