LOL: Sandy "Red" Cortez Whines About Being Fact-Checked, and Suddenly the Leftwing Media Rushes to Agree, "Yes, Fact-Checking is Biased and Ideologically Motivated"

You don't say.

Mark Hemingway points out that he's been writing about this issue for a decade -- but New York Magazine never said that he was right.

By the way: At the link, you'll see that AOC still has her lie up about a constituent whining that he doesn't know what to do now that he's missed federal paychecks.

Not a single federal paycheck has not gone out as scheduled yet.

But hey, facts are just tools of the patriarchy.

And fact-checks are partisan things smeared in ideology -- but only if Red Cortez is being fact-checked.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at January 09, 2019 05:53 PM (/9p9e)

9 Those stupid things about *counting* the fact checks... Hillary having fewer false statements than Trump, etc.,

They only count what anyone bothered to check.

Last night they "checked" that Trump said "epidemic". They "checked" that he said how much drugs came over the border by saying that it came through check points on trucks. They "checked" the percentage of female rape victims among illegals.

They can choose NOT to check anything they don't care about. And then count the numbers.

I eat out pretty rarely.

And it's not because I'm broke, I'm riding the student loan and savings high right now.

It's just that... it's kind of silly way to spend your money.

I mean, I get going out for drinks and and a burger with some buddies now and then, but I can make my own coffee for like 1/10 what it costs to go to the local coffee shop. And it takes minutes a day to cook dinner for myself, and is pretty cheap. OH, and I get to eat what I want at all times.

107 the early "fact checkers" were just another way to produce leftist lies. It was like the three card monty game, where some "random guy" (the partner) in the crowd comes up and wins, in effect "fact checking" that the (rigged) game is legit.

Same with the snake oil salesman gag from old Westerns, where someone walks up and is healed miraculously ... he is posing as the "fact checker".

There is reason to have real "fact checkers" ... like some that found Palin was more accurate than Biden in their VP candidate debate. But instead we get "97% of scientists agree ... the science is settled" ... which is again ... not fact checking, it is a deceitful part of the charade to cover up for the more obvious flim flam lies.

Yeah but it will be their ladder, not ours, and there is no way she's going to be a relative cipher by then like Obama appeared to be to many voters.
The Dems can't unbeat all of the people roughed up by mobs in the last 3 years; nor can they unslander those slandered wholesale. They can't unmurder those murdered by the noncitizens that they're putting before the rest of us.

If they try to turn us into Venezuela, they're going to get the Balkans instead.

At this rate, the only way to stop any Democrat is
to keep getting outsiders like Trump. The GOPe can't win and
emphatically doesn't want to. And AOC will be their nominee in '24 or

stepping up after this madness, either.

We won't get another Trump for another hundred years, but we may be able to preserve Trumpism for another 10 or 20. If we can get that juggernaut rolling -- reduce the influx of Democrat voters across the border, get another six years of conservative judges and rollbacks of the bureaucratic state, continue to attract Black voters, get some converts in the Senate -- we just might have something.

Obama was something else. He really had a dark past. Commie mommy and daddy, unexplained middle east travel, terrorist associates, sudden unexplained meteoric academic career rise.

AOC is your typical woke Reddit under 30 something moron. She did pretty well in school, but mostly because she a native SJW leftist speaker. She has a dump-trunk full of unexamined beliefs that were delivered to her by the modern leftism gatekeepers that are now fully marinated into her brain. She doesn't want to debate or have a dialectic. The time for that is past. That's what you do when you're looking for the answer. She already has the answer. Rote leftism.

Anyone who questions her beliefs is not a truth-seeker, they are an enemy of progress.

But she's still a different animal than Obama. Obama was the Original USSR strain of leftism. He had to hide who he was because of that. AOC is the American strain of USSR leftism. She's exactly who you see. She's an earnest, stupid, true believer.

There was an HGTV show I saw ages ago where people would go in and evaluate someone's home to see how much it would sell for so the person would know how much they could afford for their new place.

There was this awesome British lady who was probably in her early 70's who decided that since she retired she was getting old so she was going to sell her Upper East Side turn of the century brownstone she had been hand restoring since she moved to NYC in the mid-1970's and get a modern place in SoHo.

The place was a showpiece, including that she had managed to get a permit to have a gas line put in and she had found original gas lamps to put in the living room. It was fantastic. And she had no idea how much it was worth and they told her and she nearly passed out.

Then they got to the kitchen. Now, to be fair, the kitchen was a fantastically preserved piece of 1970's kitchen work. The appraisers stared at her and she all droll "Darlings, I'm a New Yorker. I don't *cook*."

249 Speaking of diets. I just learned about this on Jeopardy last night. Am I the last to hear about this?

---

"Researchers have long known that a strict vegetarian diet -- one that excludes all animal products -- can lead to vitamin B-12 deficiency, and possibly heart disease. Now, new research suggests that even those who follow a more lenient vegetarian diet are also at risk.

In the July issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, German researchers tracked 174 apparently healthy people living in Germany and the Netherlands.

They found that 92% of the vegans they studied -- those who ate the strictest vegetarian diet, which shuns all animal products, including milk and eggs -- had vitamin B12 deficiency. But two in three people who followed a vegetarian diet that included milk and eggs as their only animal foods also were deficient. Only 5% of those who consumed meats had vitamin B12 deficiency.

The problem: Vitamin B12 deficiency can boost blood levels of homocysteine, an amino acid implicated as a strong risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Studies have suggested that high homocysteine levels can promote blockages in arteries over time, possibly leading to heart disease and stroke. "

But two in three people who followed a vegetarian diet that included milk and eggs as their only animal foods also were deficient.

Only 5% of those who consumed meats had vitamin B12 deficiency.

My reco'd strategery remains as it was 18 months ago: only "trade" for DACA will be the entire agenda. Full funding for entire physical barrier system, with $$$ for operations costs for 5 years, RAISE act (real immigration reform), big funding/personnel increase for ICE enforcement and BP, mandatory E-Verify for *all* employers filing federal tax forms, and binding appropriations language greatly reducing federal $$$ for "sanctuary" jurisdictions.

Partial funding of border security in return for DACA would be so spectacularly bad that I don't think Teh Donald would consider it. If he did, he'd be making his first (and possibly last important) political blunder.

336 Unless you work in a *tiny* company, being too "important" to take your vacation days means that your boss is ... can't think of a good adjective... just... you quit? you die? Your boss will get along fine without you.

Take your vacation.

338 The thing that strikes me as suspicious is if he indeed had such a very serious accident and was now walking with two crutches and a lot a physical therapy, it would seem he would have ample time to be back here, at least give an update or two. Strange.

where would he have been that did not have access to the internets?

340 She will be surprised when she sees her first paycheck. TAXES? OMG... NOT ME!
Hahahahahaha, stupid bitch.

Posted by: Jefe El Donaldo

We had a former employee where I work who argued with payroll about taxes being taken out of her paycheck. She was outraged! Payroll is in the same building I work in and we all had to listen to her bullshit until finally the payroll manager told her to leave and that he was going to call her Supervisor. She lasted here 2 weeks.

Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at January 09, 2019 06:41 PM (mHqFv)

Why? He had Palp's Hash, unless someone stole Palp's phone, hacked into it and somehow found AoSHQ and decided to troll us (and knew enough to do it effectively) there's no way that it could've been anyone other than Palp.

Posted by: Surfperch at January 09, 2019 06:48 PM (tVQUs)

344 >>OT: if true, Rosie departing after Mueller report seems, well, odd. Don't see why deputy AG, whose responsibilities cover the whole gamut at DOJ, would tie/link any of his actions to end of a temporary office. Like I said, if true.

Makes sense if you don't assume Rosenstein is a nefarious character.

don't think he meant anything bad by the comment.

346 Hmmm, checked out the thread. Hash matches some palp had all the way back to February of 2018.

As far as hinky. I dunno. He certainly hit all of the word drops: 'xardbas', Kalashnikov, pho. Usage and diction seems a bit off, but that could also be the medication if his leg is immobilized and pinned.

347 279 About that B-12 thing. It turns out that even normal B-12 supplements are not sufficient to support some vegans. They have to take regular injections.

I just read that Stormy Daniels is claiming 100k people watched her online, while she was folding her underwear, during Trump's speech last night...

349 Palp's story did sound hinky, cbd.

Hinky in the sense that he bragged that he terrorized the other driver at gun point until the cops arrived.
When a person is in a serious accident the last thing you'd expect is for the other driver to point a gun at you.
Palp made himself sound more dangerous than the alleged Mexican than allegedly caused the alleged accident.

That's fine if you look at every person with possible Spanish lineage that you interact with as a danger to your life.

The other driver may have been an American born, hard working guy who was as shocked by being in an accident as Palp.

Honestly, the story sounds hinky to me because I would think that terrorizing with a handgun would be a crime. Not a bonding experience with a cop.

Posted by: joanjones at January 09, 2019 07:14 PM (E+yET)

353 "Ocasio-Cortez critique of fact-checking is valid."

NOTHING that comes from the Communist Left is valid.

Posted by: jbspry at January 09, 2019 07:28 PM (d/n9j)

354 Note to Ace: Your nickname of "Red" doesn't work, unfortunately. Only 1% of those under 30 know that Red means Communist. Maybe 10% now equate it with Republican, as in "red states vs blue states" (sarcastic thanks a lot to Fox news during Bush vs Gore). And the rest of those young 'uns are clueless. The frightening thing is that if you straight out called her "Commie Cortez," few millennials would find that a pejorative term.
