COMEY REFUSING TO ANSWER CONGRESS' QUESTIONS

Issa just said the same thing on FoxNews.

The Democrat spinner claimed that Comey answered all questions, but then immediately added the questions he didn't answer (???) were not answered for "proper" reasons.

Comey can be hit with contempt of Congress, and jailed, but he knows the Democrats are coming to his rescue in a month.

That means the current Congress has to refer this to the DOJ asap.

Of course, the DOJ will sit on it too.

Delurking for a sec. so, I listen to Dan Bongino's podcast pretty regularly, and he's indicated a few times that he believes- and has some kind of source-based reason to do so, or so he says- that a big part of the reason why stuff hasn't been released is that it heavily implicates some of our closest international allies (like the U.K. and Australia) in openly spying on, and probably trying to set up, our presidential candidates (Trump for sure, but maybe others as well) and then handing that info to our intelligence agencies and the Obama admin via the Five Eyes stuff.

He has indicated that he believes the predicate for the whole FISA warrant thing was based on foreign agents allied with our intelligence tried onto push damaging info into the campaign (basically plant it there) through one operative and then pull it back out with another. So, set ups all around and done by supposed allies to help Obama and company spy on their political opposition. And if it truly does implicate these countries, that's very, very bad for relations if it gets out.

My opinion is release it anyway, but I can see why it's sensitive.

131 >>Delurking for a sec. so, I listen to Dan Bongino's podcast pretty regularly, and he's indicated a few times that he believes- and has some kind of source-based reason to do so, or so he says- that a big part of the reason why stuff hasn't been released is that it heavily implicates some of our closest international allies (like the U.K. and Australia) in openly spying on, and probably trying to set up, our presidential candidates (Trump for sure, but maybe others as well) and then handing that info to our intelligence agencies and the Obama admin via the Five Eyes stuff.

Yea, I've been saying this for quite some time. Hell, Trump said it himself. And the source is the documents and other info that has been released to date.

154 What's scary and sad is that there is no need for more "revelation" than what we already have: a completely exposed information opp in the form of "Crossfire Hurricane" that was cooked up and implemented by self-admitted saboteurs in the form of Strzok and Page, with complicity (at least) of Sally Yates and John Brennan.

You have manifest "collusion" between Hillary/DNC and British and Russian intelligence to gather and disseminate an info op.

You have lawless surveillance of political opposition under a sham FISA warrant with overt misrepresentations ("verified") and clearly malicious omissions (bought/paid for political op piece, and "corroboration " in the form of echo chamber Yahoo articles planted by those seeking the warrant).

You have known attempts to entrap Carter Paige to abet the fraud warrant by CIA /Brennan plants.

You have the original Comey memo finding that Hillary clearly met the legal standard for prosecution, not to mention the obvious intentionality (far more than negligence) of setting up a home brew server for classified communications precisely to evade government servers.

You have manifest bribery, corruption if not outright treason to the US in Hillary selling US influence via the Clinton Foundation, including huge deals with Rozatom/Uranium One, bogus half-million dollar speaking fees for her husband as quid pro quo.

The present news cycle about Comey is like, having caught the murderer standing over the body with a smoking gun aand we're breathlessly waiting to see if he shows up on a surveillance tape.

---------
Many of them did know it, since the Praetorian Guard was comprised of veteran legionnaires who acted as the spokesmen/bagmen for the army at large. If the new Caesar did not pay off the Guard and rest of the army, he would get tossed willy-nilly. For a brief period the Praetorians actually put the Imperial position up for public auction. Hard to imagine that not getting talked about in the marketplace.

It was worth a listen, just to be able to get his side of things and consider the implications if true.

I think it's true and more.

One of those guys who was setting Papadopoulus up was Alexander Downer, former Australian Foreign Minister to the UK. That's a big job given the relationship between Australia and the UK.

Downer had previously given $25 million Australian tax dollars to the Clinton Foundation. He was also a director of Huawei, the Chinese government agency/company that has been accused of spying around the world and the company that just had it's CFO arrested in Canada yesterday with the potential for her to by extradited to the US.

Personally, I'm watching the fallout from the Deutsche money laundering scandal, aka the Panama Papers. I think it's connected.

231 As for implications for bilateral relations with AUS and the UK of a FISA release, that's understandable and conventional, but the situation is odd.

This is as close to an "open secret" as there can be. Those who follow every chicken entrail and tea leaf can speculate (with some reason) about the specifics, based on current info (Halper, Downer, et al, and their shenanigans). But the broad outlines are pretty clear - some here above have laid them out.

In the UK, the head of GCHQ (their NSA) resigned, suddenly, at one key juncture in the ongoing scandal/coup attempt. If he is the one who had the "director-level meeting" with Brennan on the ridiculous Russia! stuff, then his resignation would be strong confirmation of the "open secret" (not sure if Brennan has said it was "C", head of MI6, or head of GCHQ).

Anyway, not immediately clear, apart from deserved embarrassment, how release would hurt bilateral with either country. Any more than it already should have, that is, esp. in the intel world. Apart from the GCHQ resignation, I'm not aware of any earthquakes, large or small, in either intel service (but how would I be aware?).

260 I have read a lot about Hitler including a biography. I cannot figure out his hatred for communists. They had so much in common. Maybe because Marx was a Jew?

It was because he viewed the Communists - who were heavily Jewish,* as having perpetrated the "Dolchstoss" ("stab in the back") that Germany's war effort, as Hitler and much of the army saw it. Recall that the Communists actually seized power in Munich and Berlin (IIRC) until the Freikorps rounded up a bunch of them and whacked them.

*Including Rosa Luxemburg, the co-head of the KPD.

He should've forced some issues early on, gotten an anti-clinton probe going and a probe on FISA. Instead, he told his people to go along with Mueller, leading to millions in legal fees and jail time for folks who were on his campaign.

Anti-semitism and eugenics were big things at the time. I suspect that those two trends combined to produce the Holocaust.

Remember that Hitler also hated the slavs, and viewed them as sub-human (which might be why he also particularly hated the Slavic political ideology - i.e. Communism). His original plan had been to invade Russia, seize the results of the Russian farm harvest, and let the locals all starve to death.

Nope. You've got it exactly backwards. The KPD's thugs routinely broke up meetings and rallies of ALL the other parties. The Nazis established their own thugs - the brown shirts - to protect their meetings and rallies, and to fight the KPD's thugs in the streets.

The Nazis gained what electoral support they had because ordinary Germans viewed them as the only outfit who could stand up to the Communists. Germans only had to look to the east to see what Communism would mean for them. It's also why industrialists eventually fell into line with the Nazis: they viewed the alternative as even worse, and thought maybe Hitler's rhetoric was just talk. Oops.

I think it's as simple as what it seems. He saw them as lesser people who were polluting the Aryan blood line. Eugenics and all that. And, of course, the normal historical dislike most groups have had for the Jews and dislike of their success was an under current.

Plus, something like 3 of the top 4 communist leaders in Germany at the time were Jewish. I'm sure there was some realpolitik involved from that angle as well.

Keep in mind, Gypsies, gays, drunkards, and lots of other "undesirables" also got the same treatment that the Jews got.

It was. I figure it's to assure audiences that this movie isn't going to be one huge doom and gloom fest. Things are in a bad spot at the start of the movie, and virtually the entirety of the trailer acknowledges that. But there's hope.

It also addresses the complaints that Rudd wasn't in the previous movie.

More importantly, there's no sign of Carol Danvers in the trailer. She's all but guaranteed to be in the movie (given the stinger of the previous film). But the spotlight in this trailer is still Iron Man and Captain America.

Just wonder how much the IC (both CIA and FBI) were involved. Interesting that both Felix Sater (who contacted Cohen in 9/15 about the Russia project) and Rinat Akhmetshin (who showed up at the Trump Tower w the [now dead] fusion-gps Russian lawyer, Natalia, and claimed he was there bc he "tagged along after lunch" in 6/16) have a history w the US IC. Nick Weil has done some great work on twitter about Sater.

And, isn't it curious that as soon as Cohen shut the door on the Russia project w Sater in May 2016, on June 3, 2016, Goldstone emails Don Jr about the possible HRC emails. Seems one might be a bit suspicious about the timing of that.

Not held back as a favor to these so-called allies.

I'm not an expert but it's basically an agreement between 5 allies, the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to share signal intelligence for the obvious reasons.

What it also enables as a result is the ability of those allies to spy on citizens of the other countries. A lot of what Snowden released had to do with abuses being carried out by 5 Eyes participants and claimed they were pretty much uncontrolled by their respective governments.

There's a lot more but that's the gist of it.

But the Jews weren't unique in that sense. Again, lottts of other people were killed / subjugated by the Germans during WWII.

Posted by: Patrick From Ohio at December 07, 2018 02:55 PM (dKiJG)

The problem was that their status was ambiguous. Were the Jews who just happened to live in Germany, France, Holland, etc., or where they Germans/ Frenchmen/ Dutchmen?

The argument raged in Europe for at least a century, and was the "Jewish question" addressed by, inter alia, Marx and Hitler. To this point in one of his speeches Hitler rails against Jews who can move from Berlin today to Vienna tomorrow to London the day after, and says they are "ueberall zu Hause" ("everywhere at home"), while Germans are bound to the soil of Germany. This was the heart of the "Jewish question."

A similar dynamic was at work in the Dreyfus affair.

The swamp would likely survive even that. The thing to remember is the Swamp is what naturally occurs as a bureaucracy grows larger. The only way to deal with it is to prune the bureaucracy. Otherwise you end up with a situation like the Chinese where the specific dynasty that sat on the throne didn't particularly matter.

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that some power managed to seize control of the United States, they'd probably leave many of the bureaucratic institutions largely intact. They might rename them with new leaders. But the many of the workers would likely keep their jobs after swearing obedience to the new regime. Because without those workers, the whole thing falls apart.

It's essentially the Angloshpere IC's good ol' boys club. UK, US, Canada, Australia, and NZ.

In theory it was an intelligence sharing program that grew out of the Atlantic Charter - these friendly nations would pool their resources and knowledge to fight the Soviet Union's intel juggernaut.

In practice, in the post-Cold War era, it's become a Deep State tool for these countries to maintain the status quo of their international scam.

This includes what they are doing to Trump with this tangled web of international legerdemain, but it affects every citizen.

For instance: It is technically illegal in the US and UK for the government to warrantlessly wiretap private citizens. However, we get around this by having the NSA surveil Britons, while GCHQ surveils Americans, and they just trade.

Am I really the only one on this, the smartest of military blogs, that understands what kayfabe is?

By now it should be fairly obvious that the important figures in Trumpland are all, to one extent or the other, part of Donald Trump's particular style of acting. Robert Mueller is in some level of panic over Paul Manafort actually being a Trump double agent, Michael Wolff forced Steve Bannon out of the White House, etc. I'm not saying every setback the Administration faces is part of a cunning plan, but some things are obvious theater that rebound to the massive benefit of the President.

Trump and Tillerson remain friends, and it was not long ago that the State Department was in absymal morale and no function under Tillerson. Iow, exactly where Trump wanted them to be. Is Rex Tillerson really that unaware? Or is he part of the act?

456 The thing about the UK and Australia is that they were both heavily involved in trying to screw Trump, and their inept wishy-washy pseudo-conservative governments deserve to fall for what they've done. The problem is that the opposition in both countries is hard left thugs. It's not that May deserves to keep her job - she's a weasel, an idiot, and not much help to Trump - but that we can't afford to have Jeremy Corbyn in power and the same goes for Australia. Corbyn would do his best to turn the UK into Chavez's Venezuela, which we especially don't need with Putin moving towards open war on Ukraine and threatening the rest of Europe, and a similar leftist government in Australia would make out-and-out war by China far more likely. For the UK, Trump is undoubtedly waiting to see how Brexit works out - May may not be in office much longer anyway. There's also Iran, whose mullahs will certainly fall from power in the next year, though (like a tottering bridge) no one can guess exactly when (I'm surprised they've lasted this long). They've already threatened to release the names of all the western politicians and journalists they bribed, but haven't done it (damn them!). Once they're gone that information will undoubtedly come out. Patience!
