Rural Working Class in France Rioting in Protest of "Global Warming" Fuel Taxes, Globalism;
Antifa and Far-Right Said to be Rioting on Same Side

The "Gilets Jaunes" are wearing their yellow fluorescent jackets, which the government requires them to have in their vehicles to make them visible during vehicle breakdowns, etc., to protest Macron's newest round of gas taxes to fight "global warming."

This is the third weekend in a row of unrest, property damage, and violence.

The French government is considering "all options" to control protests against rising fuel prices that have turned violent in Paris over the last three weeks, a spokesman said Sunday.

Speaking on France's Europe 1 radio, spokesman Benjamin Griveaux said the government is thinking about steps to prevent "serious outbursts of violence," including introducing a state of emergency.

More than 400 people were arrested and 133 injured in Paris on Saturday in clashes between police and protesters with the "gilets jaune" or "yellow vest" movement, who are protesting rising gas prices and taxes on polluting forms of transport.
An estimated 36,000 people demonstrated in Saturday's protests across the country, marking the third consecutive week of such demonstrations, according to the French Interior Ministry. About 53,000 participated last week and about 113,000 the week before.

Griveaux said that between 1,000 and 1,500 people joined Saturday's demonstrations "only to fight with the police, to break and loot." He added that those protesters "have nothing to do with the yellow vests."

More from ABC:

Paris police say 133 people have been injured and 412 have been arrested during France's worst urban riot in years.

Police said Sunday that those injured during Saturday's protest included 23 police officers. They say 378 of the arrested have been put in police custody after the violence that tore apart parts of central Paris.

A protest against rising taxes and the high cost of living turned into a riot in the French capital, as activists wearing yellow jackets torched cars, smashed windows, looted stores and tagged the Arc de Triomphe with multi-colored graffiti.

At Le Figaro, a politician said there were 1000 injuries, not 133, and Paris mayor Hildago says there have been 3-4 million euros in damage caused by the protests/riots.

The Arc de Triomphe itself is said to have been damaged in the rioting, though I think that might just consist of the above-mentioned graffiti.

National Front (now called the National Rally) leader Marianne LePen is, naturally, supportive of the uprising. Saying she had supported the uprising "from the first hour of the first day," she went on:

Marine Le Pen boasted of having "sensed for a very long time that a social crisis was brewing in France" and that "the discontentment would burst out." "It bursts out in the street, and, believe me, I regret that," she added. "For a long time I have spoken of the France of the forgotten. This France which is never on the radars of the politicians who prefer to busy themselves with minorities of every kind to the detriment of the majority of the French. Maybe I was right too soon," she continued.

She called upon Macron to "renounce your fiscal policies which the French want no more of. This will not be perceived as a sign of weakness, but as a gesture of
a statesman who has listened [to the people] and who loves them."

The CMPE, a union of employers (yes, I guess France has unions for employers has called for the cancellation of the fuel tax hike.

Judging the "risk of paralysis of the French economy" as being "quite real," the [CPME] called on Monday for the cancellation [of the fuel tax.]

"A fourth Saturday of disorder must not be a possibility," warned the CPME regarding the damage...

"We must somehow reassure as rapidly as possible the French and the economic actors if France is to put back in working order," the president of the CPME... told the AFP.

The government "cannot simply respond that the tax will be kept because so far, this response has only increased the uprising," he said, calling it a "real mess."

Tim Pool covered the riots here, stating that some on the ground are calling this a "revolution" or a "civil war." He also says that Antifa has joined with the far right to protest/riot against Macron.

This Time article mentions some of this:

Some radical far-right and far-left activists were involved in the riot, as well as a "great number" of protesters wearing yellow jackets, Delpuech said....

Earlier Sunday, Macron visited the Arc de Triomphe, which had damaged statues as well as graffiti. One slogan on the famed war memorial read: "Yellow jackets will triumph." He then headed to a nearby avenue where activists battled police on Saturday to meet with firefighters, police officers and restaurant owners.

Update: We want Trump?!

Here's the thing, though: the guy on the bus is wearing a Trump mask and many people are laughing. So this might be a half-kidding, half-serious thing. Or more than half-kidding.

Maybe they're just adopting Trump as their Pepe: The meme you know will send your opponents to the fainting couches.

BTW, the crowd is chanting in perfect English, so I don't know where this was shot, or if this was just mostly a group of expats. But I don't know, I've never chanted in a foreign language. Maybe your accent goes away.

More: I thought maybe this was actually London (double decker bus and all) and a commenter says the gear the cops are wearing looks like English cop gear.

Or should I say "Bobby Kit."

No I shouldn't; that's gay.

...

Let's finish on a happy note: Making fun of silly cuck Max Boot for having said that Emmanuel Macron would unite not only France but the world itself as the anti-Trump.

Update: Sean Davis and Twitchy Are "RUSSIAN BOTS" Now, Cryin' Max?

Now, the left-wing Democratic Washington legislature will probably pass a carbon tax anyway.

The response to this probably won't be as robust as the French.

Pragmatically speaking, Antifa is about the advancement of Communism and globalism. This protest is about nationalism, or anti-Communism or anti-globalism. I doubt seriously that many of the Antifa protestors are part of the vast majority of protestors who harbor favorable views of US President Trump, for instance. So any promotion of Antifa as being part of this protest is either stupidity on the Antifa-affiliated protester, or is a false-flag narrative advanced by the press, or even both.

Tim Pool is calling it an uprising of the French white working (rural) class similar to the Trump uprising, but that's speculation, and i'm always hesitant to map a foreign country's politics to what I know about our own country's politics.

Macron's number is like 26 or something. Maybe it fell again.

As each one had their turn with me the others stood around drinking wine, eating cheese and smoking cigarettes.

The attack derailed my life for many years and left me with cheese-related PTSD. I instructed my husband not to allow any cheese in our home except in the case of an unusually good camembert or brie.

The only way my trauma could in any way be relieved would be if President Trump were to agree to re-enter the Paris Accord on climate change in solidarity with President Macron.

It doesn't seem like a hard line to stay on.

"I hate Trump. I ignore policy changes in my favor. I highlight every piece of news against him. I talk about character like it's more important than policy."

Seems easy enough, but Boot couldn't manage it. I guess he wanted to stand out.

271 It's kind of depressing that *this* is the issue that animates Frenchmen.

You'd think it would be something like letting people into your country that regularly gun you down, run you over during your holidays, stab you and blow you up at your concerts.

That didn't inspire riots, but this does? It shows there's something deeply confused and oblivious in the French psyche, and they aren't going to vote in someone like Le Pen who might try to rescue them from the worse fate (however socialist she might be).

If they're half (or mostly) joking, then they're at least a little bit sincere. The value of humor is it lets you say things that you normally wouldn't be able to get away with, and can sometimes make it easier for people to accept a truth: that they really do want their own Trump.

Interesting observation from there - the initial impetus for the protests was that the French lowered the speed limits, and have been installing radar cameras everywhere, so they can hand out big fines to "speeders". Radar vans have been vandalized across the country.

So, another example of the "Ferguson Effect" - when the government decides to turn law enforcement into a profit center, the people don't appreciate it.

The left (since LBJ I guess) plays off the anti-establishment attitude in America ... but now they ARE the establishment ... so now it is anti-white privilege I guess. LBJ did the big flip ... to get those "minorities" voting Dem for 200 years. But before that the commies of the hippy 60's made Leary's "turn on, tune in, drop out" cool counter-culture.

The policy has been anyone who passes his final exams in high school can attend college for just a nominal course fee, but now Macron's thinking of actually requiring they pay tuition. And so they're rioting.

A Tea Party Revolt, this ain't.

Think about it. Since 1787 France has been ruled by a monarchy, the first republic (which had several iterations), the first empire, the monarchy restored, the empire restored, the monarchy restored again, a revolution that brought in a new monarchy, the second republic, the second empire, the third republic, nazi occupation, the fourth republic, and now the fifth republic. And in all that time, we've had one form of government, our Constitution.

363 I would wager that the average Frenchman would have been willing to go the burn-it-down route over immigration and other oppressive policies, but gas prices was what it took for everybody to look around and decide that, yes, it's go time. So Macron or whoever follows him from the elite caste will think that what is needed is a brief, incremental roll-back on gas prices and global warming taxes, and then everything will go back to normal.

Sort of like how it happens here. Because the Dems won the House, lots of our moral and intellectual betters assume that things are evening out so it's time to go full-speed ahead on Medicare for all and open borders.

But, then he won.

446 It's fun to compare the Yellow Jackets with political riots in the United States. Here, everyone knows that when Antifa throws one of its tantrums, it's not going to have any affect on policy one way or the other. It's controlled. It's indirectly state-sanctioned. It's no big deal.

We have had urban riots that were bigger and more dangerous, but even then, no one thought it was aimed at any kind of significant political change. Like the Rodney King riots in LA, or all the way back to 1968. There were incremental political goals, maybe, but they weren't going to change much of anything.

It's different in France. It's a much more compact country, with the grand capital pretty much in the center. Riots can have a much more direct impact on the government. To have a similar effect in the U.S., you would have to throw incredibly violent riots in 20 to 30 major cities simultaneously.

481 @456 The word is that Macron may call on the military.

This is where we will see the real extent of the discontent.

For an Antifa-style "riot," basically a state-sanctioned demonstration, the Antifas will march up to the police and get themselves tear gassed or whatever, the whole point being to pretent-confront the "pigs." That's part of the show, because they're not really about changing anything.

But people who are throwing a revolution will avoid the direct confrontation. If the police and military surround one building, we'll move over here and burn this one down instead. While you're protecting this courthouse, we will move to this one and bust out the windows. If you protect this highway bridge, we will block traffic elsewhere.

''Try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh, so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September when grass was green and grain was yellow
Try to remember the kind of September when you were a tender and callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember then follow

Try to remember when life was so tender that no one wept except the willow
Try to remember when life was so tender that dreams were kept beside your pillow
Try to remember when life was so tender that love was an ember about to billow
Try to remember and if you remember then follow

Deep in December it's nice to remember although you know the snow will follow
Deep in December it's nice to remember without the hurt the heart is hollow
Deep in December it's nice to remember the fire of September that made us mellow
Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow''

We joke, but the French military is quite competent. But that doesn't mean that they can impose order if the people do not want to cooperate.

Again, I mention about Antifa -- it's a whole different ballgame when rank-and-file normal people are involved. Antifa plays by the rules, essentially. No one is really threatened by them. No one really thinks that Antifa might overthrow the civil authority of Portland, Oregon and declare a people's republic. But when a horde composed of the average Francois Six-Pack starts setting fires and throwing rocks, it's a much different situation.

See, that's just it. They're not. Not really. At least not yet.

Antifa's support networks are all well known. If the authorities wanted to, they could shut it all down.

They wouldn't go after them directly for doing Antifa things. That would lose in court. Instead they would go after them sideways, like they did with the Klan or with the old Black separatists. Send infiltrators with wires, get them on other charges, get them on racketeering, get them to roll over on others. If Antifa were considered to be any kind of serious threat to the establishment, that's what would be done.

The protests started with middle-class and rural Frenchmen, the "deplorables" who have jobs, and own homes and own cars, protesting the newest fuel tac increase, and all kinds of other punitive measures enacted against motorists.

Sounds like the extreme right and extreme left have climbed upon the bandwagon, and are the ones mostly responsible for the violence. Muzzies seem to be laying low, for now.

597 146 AntiFa are international commies i.e. globalists.... Would love to just once, show them what life is like without government.
