Tanzania is supposed to be amazing. We didn't get a lot of rest, what with getting up at 5:00 a.m. for morning safaris (one in S. African mountains, and the other in the Okavango Delta in Botswana). But the trips were worth it, even with the lack of sleep.

You'll love it! Have never felt unsafe in SA, and Botswana has one of the strongest economies in all of Africa. Poor Zimbabwe. We met our student's older brother and SiL, wonderful people. They had to buy gas on the black market to be able to make it to Vic Falls to meet us. A beggar on the street sold my husband a Zimbabwean billion (yes) dollar bill for 50 Rand, or $3.50 US.

I think that's mostly true. But NeverTrumpers have gotten a lot of mileage in some circles by pretending this is all some sort of moral crusade they are on and doing it for reasons of conscience while forgoing monetary gain.
If it can be shown that they are just cheap whores who sold out to a higher bidder then they will lose what little support they retain. I want them to be forced to declare their allegiance to the liberal left so that they can stop getting even the smallest bit of authority as our moral betters on the right.

Here's the thing, they have zero influence on the President. The Trump Administration has mostly done the opposite of whatever George Bush would do, with the exception of tax cuts. Certain aggregators still discuss what happens at TWS and NR anyways. Why? The Federalist has only so much content, and original reporting is time consuming. Not to mention it typically requires money that grassroots sites don't have.
How to fix it? Maybe we should pay a lot more attention to Sundance and Sailer. For all their flaws, they often have decent insights into actual news, and come up with intelligent commentary.
Or, we could start making our own news. Imagine that.

The Democrats lost the Southern States in 1968 and will likely never get it them back. The only "white Democrats" left are what we used to call "yellow dog Democrats". They have been wedded to the Democrats since FDR. The good thing though is they are very few and old dying out.

We'll see. Heinlein was prophetic - we're in the Crazy Years. Trump was one hell of a black swan and tail is mighty long. The conventional wisdom probably doesn't apply. Add in to the Trump Effect things like polling methodologies being seriously damaged by things like abandonment of landline phones (which are tied to addresses) and other factors and you get a great big helping of "I have no freaking clue what's going to happen."
I plan to just read the articles, not believe what I read, and go vote anyway based on candidate and platform. Predicting the future is very hard but none of the rules we used to use to do it seem to apply all that well anymore. Interesting times and all...

I think a lot of people ignore the media. They ignore polls and experts and all of that. They know, just know that things are good and poised to get better. Moreover, they talk to each other.
Trying to engineer election fraud in this environment has a serious risk of sparking really bad consequences against the beneficiaries. And by that I do not mean Tweets.
