I keep saying I won't post this anymore, but I've gotten a couple questions regarding my son and this is the only way I know to kind of answer everything in one place. First, no, Tyler is not in feeding therapy yet -that's kind of a last resort that we're working towards, as insurance doesn't cover it and it means him being 100 miles away from home without me for 19 days. Hoping to avoid that but it's looking more likely. His g-tube is what's called a "Mickey button"...I hook up a connector and pour liquid food (Nutrem) right into his tummy. He's 14 and almost as big as I am, so when he refuses to take a feed...he doesn't get his feed. Hence the imminent trip to childrens, to get his nutrition and hydration up, but that's a temporary fix. For those who have asked about medication, he used to be on risperdal, but the side effects were worse than the problem it tries to solve...His doctor is currently weighing his options to try something new (but my choices are limited because he will not take pills). So I think that's everything, thank u again to everyone for the kind words,prayers and donations, they are appreciated more than u know.

I remember picking up The Final Call (Farakkan's rag) a couple of times when attending school in Chicago in the late 80s. It was full of the most jaw-dropping, crude anti-Semitism you could image, e.g. exposes about Joo doctors cooking up the AIDS virus for the ghetto, published under names like "Dr. Hyam Goldberg etc etc.

I think what you are missing here is the history of black hate of Jews. That the Dem party cannot operate without blacks is a known. That Jews seek protection from the party that controls the blacks is not irrational. Every riot during the 67 race riots started in and was aimed at Jewish Merchant centers (pawn shops, appliance, furniture, auto and clothing stores offering easy credit with endless payments). All of these riots were in urban cities of the Mid Atlantic, Northeast, Upper Midwest and California. Pretty much a definition of where the Dems still dominate. I think what you are missing here is the history of black hate of Jews. That the Dem party cannot operate without blacks is a known. That Jews seek protection from the party that controls the blacks is not irrational. Sure, it was probably mostly cultural, like 1950s was culturally Christian. Most people talked about God and went to church not because they were faithful or religious, but because that's just what you did and how you were in the culture, and people tend to go along. Christianity is, in my opinion, better off without the pews being filled with people only going there as a club or a business/marriage opportunity.

They're not good at assimilating, and prefer to change the societies they live in to suit them, instead of changing for the society. I think it was Prince Faisel who was in attendance at the time, and his comment essentially indicated his awareness that if the Palestinians didn't accept that, they were never going to accept anything that the Israelis would be willing to offer.

Mormons aren't easily distinct from their culture. Wearing a suit isn't very common these days but its not remotely like Jewish cultural and clothing distinctions. "Right wing" in Brazil can mean a lot of things I don't know about.
So...perhaps yay? Privatizing things and increasing private gun ownership seem like good things from afar, but who knows, maybe this guy will get all caught up in something else I would consider bad instead of pushing the things that we heard about.

That's correct, but completely ignores reality. In real life, Mormons interact with people around us. We work with non-members and live next to non-members. People notice that we're different. I regularly get asked by people who are only tangentially in my life if I'm Mormon.

That's a combination of two things. The first is that the Latter-Day Saints were able to move away from their persecutors to out in the middle of nowhere. Aside from Johnston's Army, the Saints were able to grow and develop themselves unmolested by anyone else. Second, officially, people take a dim view of that here in the US, which is still the primary location of most of the members of that religious group.
However, times are changing, and Latter-Day Saints are starting to show up in numbers in other countries. Medvedev (remember him?) once compared them to mold (I think it was). So we might start to see hostility directed at them in foreign countries as time passes and the membership elsewhere grows larger.
Here in the US, one of the anti-Proposition 8 groups in California (that was the anti-Same Sex Marriage ban that got overturned by a Federal Judge that should have recused himself) ran an ad that had LDS Missionaries forcing their way into a home in order to persecute a same sex couple.
Finally, Instapundit mentioned the anniversary of the Missouri Extermination Order under Gov. Boggs the other day. Just tea leaves, but early voting/absentee #s in FL looking positive for R candidates, with very plausible speculation that hurricane damage, which has delayed Panhandle voting, means R lead is under-stated.

Fun fact - the doctor who looked after Hitler's mother in the final stages of her life was Jewish. Hitler was quite close to his mother, and in appreciation made sure that the doctor and his family were not caught up in the Holocaust.

I think Calvinists lean more towards compatibilism: we have free will not in the sense that our choice is unconstrained. Rather, our will is corrupted, but that when we follow it, we are acting freely, we are not being coerced by some outward force. God hardened Pharaoh's heart. God foreordained that Pharaoh's heart be hard, but once it was, he acted according to his nature. He wasn't being forced to do anything he didn't want to.
Predestination in the Calvinist sense is joined at the hip with the idea of total depravity - everyone is born in active rebellion to God. Free will only makes sense if one assumes that humans are capable of choosing good without an intervention.

Yeah, I think Mormons tend to stand out. The avoidance of coffee, tea, alcohol, for example. They're usually pretty openly religious and happy to tell you that they are Mormons and talk about that. At least that's been my experience.

#260 I think it's safe to say that the Ferguson riot was not directed at Jewish shopkeepers because there weren't too many of them to attack. But in all these riots there is a common theme...looters aren't getting shot. If they were that would be the end of this. The rule of law has sided with the rioters.

Sure there can be anti Zionists who aren't anti-Semitic. Realpolitik. The destruction of a country may be beneficial to an outside group, Russia for instance would benefit from the reduction of US influence in the region, without hating Jews as an ethnic group.
As for why Jews have been hated it really depends on where and when. Diaspora Jews post the Romand scattering them have the minority in unpopular economic roles problem. The Armenians had this problem in the Ottoman empire and the Chinese have had and continue to have this problem in Asia. If you're an economic minority and your people are known as bankers, lawyers, landlords or merchants(exception for merchants is Anglosphere as the Anglo culture is a merchant culture), eventually bad things will happen to you. These are all jobs people naturally hate and if its easy to attach them to a minority then that minority will have a bad day at some point.
Prior to that its mostly conflicting territorial claims and the rise of various empires in the region. Assyrians and Persians conquered because that's how they roll. Philistines and such had a perfectly natural reason to hate Jews, ancestral territorial claims. Egypt and Rome have had various positive and negative relations with the Israelite kingdoms. Christians have likewise had a mixed history. Although Jews persecuted early Christians the early Christians were themselves often ethnically Jewish, and the case of the Apostle Paul is instructive regarding how Christians view persecution theologically.
As for Muslims Mohammad originally viewed them as natural converts, it didn't work out, so they get grouped with the Christians. For the most part Christians in the Middle East are firmly under the Islamic boot while Jews have their own country. Jew extinguishment is thus a priority.
