Evergreen State College Freshman Enrollment Down 50%, Says Professor

Ghost town.

John Sexton points out that previous estimates had been that Evergreen's total student enrollment would fall by 18% or 20%. But that was total enrollment, freshman through senior. (Does college really end at "senior" anymore? Or is the Blutarsky Seven Year Plan closer to the norm?)

But people who are already in the college are more likely to stay. When have not yet applied to any school, there is no sunk cost keeping them there.

And it seems like Evergreen has lost half of its expected freshman class.

If that continues -- and why should it not? -- Evergreen's total enrollment will be down by 50% in three more years.

And then, maybe, at some point, it just will have to shut down. Colleges and businesses can't be scaled down infinitely. There's a breaking point where the college just can no longer function as a college.

The same goes for many colleges out there.

11 I watched an episode of dirty jobs where they were scouring the remains of Hofstra or another "H" university that closed down in the early aughts.

In retrospect, it was cool to see that a college could shut down before the latest huge education bubble. Now, there's Grand Canyon Universities and shit every twelve steps. There needs to be another culling.

It stuck out to me also because one of the first research projects I did in high school took me to a MLA journal from Hofstra. sad.

134 The whole incident at Evergreen reminds me of the movie the Baader-Mienhof Complex I highly recommend it.

It is about the psychology (psychosis) of these leftist groups. They were all children firmly of the middle class, mostly failed college students. A very high percentages of women leading. The leftists gradually become divorced from reality, engaging in what eventually becomes a "fantasy war." Moral disengagement is the key. They use moral justification to imagine themselves as the saviors of a constituency threatened by a great evil. The more compartmentalized a group is the more it begins to lose touch with reality, including the actual impact of its own actions. They minimize or ignore the actual suffering of the victims. They dehumanize victims as "tools of the system," "pigs," or "watch dogs." They transform their victims into mere objects. Renaming themselves, their actions, their victims and their enemies accords respectability. Extreme narcissism was also a common characteristic.

Isn't that exactly what we see with these people?

Yes. The nyt did an article on the slowing higher education rates a few years back. They were worried about the dwindling rate of High School students who enroll in college and they seemed more concerned on the less than 40% who matriculate and go on to actually graduate with a degree.

199 Maybe Evergreen could reverse the damage if in addition to "day without white people" they could have a "day without brown people" and a "day without asian people". All people who find other people-groups repulsive (or producing self-shame) should have their aesthetic tastes catered to at least one day a year.

200 Facebook suspends #WalkAway founder over InfoWars link
https://bit.ly/2Oe3r47

The founder of the #WalkAway movement, Brandon Straka, received a 30-day ban from Facebook on Wednesday after posting a link to his recent interview at right-wing outlet InfoWars.

Straka said the suspension comes ahead of his planned march on Washington, D.C. and cuts him off from over 180,000 members of his #WalkAway campaign (the #WalkAway Facebook group has just over 76,000 likes).

"I'm devastated right now. WalkAway Campaign is a grassroots movement. We don't have corporate sponsors. We don't have backers. We are raising the money and the awareness for our event ourselves. We use GoFundMe to raise money. And today Facebook took away my ability to communicate with the 180,000 members of the campaign leading up to the March," Straka told right-wing outlet the Gateway Pundit.

"This is going to smash my ability to provide information, answer questions, raise money, and rally with my people," he continued.

253 I posted on this topic a couple mornings ago. We can make some interesting conclusions from the data they've given us.
From the info - Evergreen is positioned to accommodate 4200 students - they currently have 2800. The incoming class has 300 students, since that is 50% drop from 2 years ago, that freshmen class was 600. If we make generous assumptions, we can guess that enrollment currently consists of:

Class of '22 - 300 students
Class of '21 - 500 students
Class of '20 - 600 students
Class of '19 - 800 students

this totals 2200, which leaves 600 students as 5th or 6th year seniors, or other categories which fit into the above.

The clear conclusion is that Evergreen is now unavoidably locked into large drops in their Student population each year for the next 3 years, since they cannot possibly replace the number that leave each year.

And that means massive layoffs, and budget cuts as their available income continues to drop. No way out for them.

277 Those 39M illegal identities noted by the IRS should
be immediately followed by 39M frozen bank accounts. I don't see ICE
nabbing and charging them (39M = 750k/week * 52 weeks).

But frozen accounts and firings followed with mandatory E-verify would really help to solve the immigration problem.

Just don't allow the write off for the employer if they have a no-match return naming the business as an employer.

If that doesn't work, then yeah, freeze accounts for fraud, but a lot of the guys using false SSNs actually use their ITINs for filing taxes because of the fraud angle makes them ineligible for declaring a labor history for a green card.

Also, this is a population that often does not have a refund because they declare 28 or so dependents so near-zero withholding, and if they get a refund check it is often requested as a physical check and cashed at a payday loan or deposited into a debit card account.

Cox, who agreed to four other debates that Newsom declined, said last week he would participate in the CNN debate only if it focused on housing, cost of living, water and other California-specific issues, and if a California journalist was included as a moderator. Newsom's campaign said Cox was trying to limit the scope of questions asked.

I've always thought this. Refugees has the connotation of those seeking *temporary* refuge. And when the problem is over they would return from where they came. Anyone attending Evergreen has no business - none whatsoever - in any institution of higher education. I have seen a couple here in Kentucky that have been plastered with bumper stickers, but no overt political statements or endorsements. Off the top of my head, I can think of one 'Big Star Trek' fan and another that had craploads of stuff about records/music.

Really? Back in the day, at Revelle, you only had to pass a fluency examination in a foreign language, and most people could do that in their first year, since the "fluency" examination consisted of talking in broken [fill in the language here] for 20 minutes with long-suffering native speakers.

OTOH, Revelle also required two years of natural science and a year of calculus (along with two years of humanities, and one year of social science), so the attractive chicks were all at Muir.

DC's first mistake was using Zack Snyder's ideas as the basis for their Universe.

Hell go look at the just released DC Animated video "Death of Superman." They are doing Superman's fight against Doomsday and Reign of the Supermen as two movies. First one is out, Reign of the Supermen is coming sometime soon I think. But "Death of Superman" has a whole hell of a lot more emotion and weight and entertainment in it than Batman Vs. Superman could ever hope to muster.

My school was like that. Everyone else, 120 credits for a Bachelor's. Any engineering course, 136 credits.

12-16 was a "full load", so normies could get out in 15 credits/semester. Engineers needed 17 credits/semester, so they were technically 4.5-year programs.

Good luck scheduling all those required classes that are only offered every other semester at one specific time to even make it in 4.5, though. I needed 5.

There's a reason for that. To a conservative, the progressive is an idiot, and while idiots are annoying they have a right to exist, a right to think idiotic things, and still have value as a person.

Progressives don't feel the same way about conservatives. To them you're an evil person to be fought in all ways big and small. They well key your car, break the windows, slash the tires... whatever. And it will give them the endorphin rush of the righteous.

I can't see putting an anti-abortion, NRA, or pro-Trump sticker on my car unless it was a beater I didn't care about.

Yeah, he was, but Death Wish was a huge financial and cultural success. He'd been the leading man in the preceding seven or eight movies, but that one cemented the typecasting. The funny thing is Paul Kersey wasn't the sort of killing machine everyone wanted after Bronson made him famous.

To me the funny part of Bronson's career was as the movies got worse and worse he made more and more money.

A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing
an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery. It cannot be so
refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous,
restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of
violence by which one class overthrows another. - Chairman Mao Zedong
(The Little Red Book)

Posted by: Trigger Warning at September 12, 2018 09:26 PM (kO+z3)

So when is CNN broadcasting this? Just get it out there, because this is what the Left believes. Not the Nanzis, but the new hard Lefties. The Nanzis of the Dem party somehow thinks their hardcores won't ultimately follow Chairman Mao's Little Red Book. Just the opposite. This is a core tenant of their beliefs.

And on a related note, someone in an earlier thread noticed Palmetto State Armory has 1,000 rds of Fiocchi .223 Brass, plus 10 p-mags, for $329. That is a helluva buy.

I suppose it would be too outré to advocate for concealed carry on campus. If I were a parent or student wanting to go to Violence U nonetheless, I'd insist on concealed carry as a condition for acceptance of admission.
