Yeah ... all of a sudden she's gotten lots of ad work. She never used to get any, because she's just not good looking, but now a few companies are really pushing her. It's annoying. She's pretty much the last thing I feel like seeing in an ad. And this new thing with making her "super-mom" is just pathetic.
But it's funny they are saying how tough it is to play and be a mother (which I don't disagree with) but just 3 months ago they were complaining that women who give birth ought to get special ranking hold treatment - right now they are treated like having injury lay-offs, as to allowing them to have a protected ranking for a certain amount of time and number of tournaments.
Typical argument you get from these types, they have to lose both sides of the argument. Now, that's selfishness.

The umpire had no choice but to take away the point. The coaching violation was a certain class of violation that is cumulative over the match. The racket breaking is that same class (and everyone always gets called for those violations - so much so that some people actually play a point with a damaged racket because if they get a new one they will get the penalty for racket abuse) and the second violation of that class requires a point penalty.
The ump had no choice. And Serena was bitching at him about the point penalty, which she was totally wrong about.

So I go into the bar, and sit down, order a beer and meal, and wonder who the owner of the scream is. She thanked me for the help, and left. About ten minutes later, I left myself, and the Volvo with the pink scream was gone. I drive by the aforementioned car wash, and there it is, in a bay, with the large gal waving the wash wand over it. Suspicion status: confirmed.

I generally don't care but I do like to see Djokovic win. He's pretty awesome and has done amazing things while having to come through Nadal and Federer. In the end, Djokovic is going to be seen as the greatest of the three. Some of the things he's done have been monumental - and did them through the other two "greatest of all time" folks. The whole coaching rule is crap. It's stupid and impossible to enforce. You rarely see it as a violation - at worst, a player is warned, but even that is very, very rare. But the WTA and tennis, in general, made up some stupid rules that are nonsensicle.
However, while Serena was right about the initial bullshit coaching call, she was wrong about everything afterwards, which is where all the damage was done.

After being awarded the Purple Heart as part of the 82nd Airborne Division in Bastogne, Howard Anlugen returned to the US to play linebacker with the NFL's Boston Yanks during the 1947 and 1948 seasons. On his 95th birthday earlier this year, he was asked what he thought of today's NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem.
"I don't like it at all," Anlugen said. "It does not reflect well on today's players or the league.
"In my day, if you were going to take a cheap shot at one of the other team's players, we at least waited until the opening kickoff."
Apparently "taking a knee" had a different meaning while Anlugen was in the league.

About two blocks from my house we came upon a chaotic scene with police, ambulance, neigborhood, sobbing lady, kid on a stretcher and a bloody, dead dog. Seems the dog attacked the kid and was shot but by who is not clear, but I think the police. Lady crying I think was owner of the dog but maybe also mother of kid who I have never seen. Oddly I heard no sirens. Did the police come in response to m the dog attack and then killed it? Police weren't talking and and none of the neigbors seemd to know either, or weren't talking about it.
Damn. Can't wait to get the whole story.

I definitely think the 'wrong apartment' story doesn't wash at all with this cop. Police are supposed to be especially well-trained to monitor their surroundings at all times.

I don't think we have grand juries in Canada. A Coroner's Court might handle cases where it is uncertain who what to who. This one seems cut and dried, and likely a Crown Prosecutor (similar to DA) would simply enter a charge of manslaughter (or muder, if there was evidence of intent).

We had just road-marched about 15 miles, and had to dig hasty positions before we could crash.
Knowing I had to get up at O-dark-thirty, I was out like a light at this time.
My battle buddy was this tiny slip of a girl who could barely wield an E-tool, much less the M16 she had.
So I wasn't thinking much beyond how to hide my battle buddy's body and sleep, not exactly in that order.

I think it might depend upon one's clubbing style. If you were to grab the forearm like a baseball bat, and swing the rifle to club a miscreant, it might upset the bedding of the action in the stock. But if you were to thrust the buttstock into the miscreant's head, in line with the axis of the barrel, it might not do any damage.

In general the cops investigate a crime and arrest the suspect; then the Crown Prosecutor [the D.A.] decides whether to press charges. I don't know the systems in other provinces but if a cop in Ontario is involved in a crime or during the performance of his duties e.g. shoots a suspect (or a bystander!), gets in a car accident etc. there is an investigation made by the non-police, civilian Special Investigations Unit instead of the cops investigating themselves. Before the SIU was set up, cops from a different jurisdiction would investigate the situation like having the Ontario Provincial Police [Ontario's "state troopers"] investigate Toronto's Metropolitan Police but that was thought too subject to an appearance of a lack of impartiality even when it was a different force investigating the alleged transgression.

Seriously, he had a stash of 1958 and '59 les paul bursts, which were almost 400K at their peak with some hitting 700K. He has a 1958, or '59 Korina explorer, which they made less than 25 IF that many. I only played 2 in my life, and thats a miracle. They were minimum 5-700K, or more. He has two 1958, or 59 korina flying V guitars, which they made less than 100. I played maybe 10 in my time. Those were probably 4-500K. Of course condition is everything. He had a fortune in guitars when they were at peak prices. I know they took a hit in the value, but I hear they came back pretty strong.

Piston System ARs, vs. Direct Impingement ARs... the piston system resides (generally) under and to the rear of the front sight. With the remainder of the system extending aft, in the space normally occupied by the gas-tube of the D-I systems.
What you're describing is the Recoil Buffer, which resides within a stout tube, which doubles as the "chassis" over which the buttstock-of-choise, is installed.
Short version. The part you'll want to research is the "Buffer Tube", and there is a Civilian Version and a Mil-Spec version. Always buy the Mil-Spec.
The "Gas Piston" is the primary motive power to operate the rifle's action. The "Recoil Buffer" is the spring powered, weighted buffer (which looks like a piston), that RETURNS the Bolt Carrier Assembly to Battery, after the Gas Piston slammed the whole damn thing to the rear.
In the Direct Impingement System, nothing but the burning combustion gasses power the bolt carrier itself, as a "pseudo piston" into the Recoil Buffer.
Both are AR pattern rifles.
Lower and upper receivers are identical. As are the Recoil Buffers, buttstocks, pistol grips and most marketed fore ends.
But the gas front sight block, gas tube OR Piston Sight Block, captive piston and operating rod, as well as the complete Bolt Carrier Group, vary wildly between the two divergent platforms.
They're nearly identical, except for where they're not.

Yer odds ain't good. But, you'd be surprised how often it's effective. A bayonet isn't that heavy anyway. If weight is an issue, I'd dump rations and assorted kit before the sticker. Rounds, water, bayonet. They're the essentials.

Short version. The part you'll want to research is the "Buffer Tube", and there is a Civilian Version and a Mil-Spec version. Always buy the Mil-Spec.
The "Gas Piston" is the primary motive power to operate the rifle's action. The "Recoil Buffer" is the spring powered, weighted buffer (which looks like a piston), that RETURNS the Bolt Carrier Assembly to Battery, after the Gas Piston slammed the whole damn thing to the rear.
In the Direct Impingement System, nothing but the burning combustion gasses power the bolt carrier itself, as a "pseudo piston" into the Recoil Buffer.
Both are AR pattern rifles.
Lower and upper receivers are identical. As are the Recoil Buffers, buttstocks, pistol grips and most marketed fore ends.
But the gas front sight block, gas tube OR Piston Sight Block, captive piston and operating rod, as well as the complete Bolt Carrier Group, vary wildly between the two divergent platforms.
They're nearly identical, except for where they're not.
