Quite simply, the next time your elected local or state official holds a
press conference about global warming, the Middle East, or the national political climate, expect to experience poor county law enforcement, bad municipal services, or regional insolvency. Michael Malice once suggested that if you are ever told about global warming, ask the awarmist to name two different types of cloud. If they can't tell them to f*ck off until they can. Oh, and anyone ever meets Joe Rogan face to face and he starts spouting off about how old fashioned representational government is, ask him to explain two elements discussed in the Federalist Papers, and likewise, tell him to f*ck off until he can. "but . . . but . . . but . . . mah bumperstickers!" is not a reasoned position. Declaring while stoned is less of a position. Posted by: kindltot at August 31, 2018 10:28 PM (2K6fY) 108

We should get out of that treaty and go back to the moon and make it a fifty-first state. Then go to Mars and do the same thing. Back in my oilfield days, one of my favorite guys to work with was "Doc", a black guy who had played outside linebacker for the 49'ers for a year before his knee tore up. Doc had biceps the size of my thighs, he was a good guy to have as a friend. We went to an all you can eat crab leg buffet in Carthage, Texas once (the town that Bernie was from) with a more ordinary sized guy, Fred. Fred was nice, and naive. We all had our first plates, and Fred said "well aren't we going?" and me and Doc laughed and said "boy, we was just limbering up" and we sat there for about 3 hours, me and doc scarfing up plates of crab legs whenever they brought new ones out with Fred watching us going "don't you guys ever quit???" and finally the Chinese lady who ran the place (there's always a chinese lady that runs these places) came out and said "That Enough! You Got to Go!!!" and we said "but your sign said all you can eat for $10!!!" and she said "Yeah! Dat all you can eat for $10, you Go now!!!" and well we figured it was about time, so we did. and all the way home Fred was just talking to himself, "I can't believe you guys." asian countries simply burned all their plastic and paper trash in incinerators to generate power. If you SERIOUSLY wanted to deal with the "crisis" of plastic in the oceans, as opposed to just wanting to have an "issue" you could constantly bitch about, you would build a few automated vessels which could scoop up this plastic and burn it for fuel, powering generators which could charge batteries, which would also have solar collectors for alternate charging. And then you would just let these automated scoops chug around slowly by themselves, eating all the plastic and slowly eliminating out. but that's only if you seriously wanted to deal with the problem. 168. Exactly
It's the cooking fires - and the primitive stoves and fuels they use in most of Africa - that are the problem. A few improved stoves - the Rocket stove, e.g. - are out there. But mostly, it's shit, charcoal, or shitty charcoal. And they wonder why their lungs are filthy and their fields are sterile. Sad. And we wanted the film to reflect Neil." We Reach The Moon. John Noble Wilford. Bantam. "He kept his own counsel so effectively that even his parents did not know what his philosophical and religious beliefs were." Ryan, you and the people involved in this movie are a bunch of liars. There actually is a proposal to launch a plastic clean up in the Pacific.
It's opposed by environmentalists on the grounds that it'd only catch what is in the top six feet or so of the water and, "Not clear all the plastic from the entire water column reaching to the sea floor". Up and down the I5 freeway there are groups putting stickers on the mirrors of the really cheap hotels with contact numbers for trafficked workers.
What usually happens is that a someone gets an job offer to do engineering, programming, whatever, and pays a huge bribe and a fee to various people who get them some sort of passage to the US. They show up, planning to pay off the money invested by the promised salary quickly and send money home to the family that now is short of a wage earner. Instead they wind up as a dishwasher, a framer, a waiter, or whatever, at a minimum wage job that pretty much only pays the interest on that huge loan they had to raise to pay off the "contractors" and they may have to pay for their rent, their food and whatever on top of that to the contractor, so they go into debt and go deeper. And the families back home suffer too. And if they have legal papers the "contractor" holds there papers so they don't get away. This is the sort of abuse the Migrant and Seasonal Protection Act was supposed to end. But that only affects agricultural workers, not industrial serfs. Yeah, about that. Seawater is pretty toxic stuff, is it not? IIRC if you drink it, it will kill you. I've been informed by a few mates on cattle boats down here that an aluminum can will decompose in seawater in a matter of months. I wonder if plastic wouldn't degrade sooner than that. A few years ago, a friend declared on Facebook that anyone who had anything bad to say about Hillary or certain other sacred objects of the left should unfriend him right away. I'd known this guy since 1987 and we used to do a fair amount of stuff together, like go to out of the way theaters for Hong Kong action movies.
But his feed also meant I was seeing David Gerrold's ongoing blathering. It further meant I was constantly being sent images of Latino body builders, which apparently became a big interest of my friend since he exited the closet and seemed to take up being gay as a professional status. So unfriending him wasn't a complete loss. The last time I saw him was at a funeral late last year. Posted by: epobirs at August 31, 2018 11:50 PM (AJKgl) 281

James Blish did the novelization of some Star Trek episodes. For "Whom God's Destroy" he wrote that the insane Garth's "coronation" was set to "Ich bete an die Macht der Liebe" by Bortniansky, which was used at Starfleet Academy graduation. Bortniansky was a real composer and "Ich bete an die Macht der Liebe" is a real and lovely choral piece: https://youtu.be/NOrSapvK93o So why would it be used at a graduation ceremony? The tech idiots are private businesses, so they can do what they want,
unless they've run afoul of the publisher thing WRT libel etc by exercising editorial control (which they have), OR there is an anti-trust or common carrier argument to be made for regulating aspects of their operation. Sorry Rohmboid but you are utterly and completely wrong about that. When Youtube as part of the F. A. G. S. conspiracy (Facebook, Apple, Google, Spotify) - deplatformed a business enterprise in Alex Jones' Infowars they committed a major federal felony - having constructed a conspiracy in restraint of trade in violation of 15 U.S. Code 1. The fine for joining in such a conspiracy is $100 million dollars per count of violation. They had plenty of violations of that statute by drying up the ad revenue source for gun channels, while keeping the ad revenues them selves. Can you see how that might be just slightly illegal? Probably liable for $10 billion in total fines for all their violations of the law. See, you don't get to conspire to restrain somebody else's business. Lake Louise - when I was in my teens, my old German Grandmother was still alive, I stayed with her many times. She was a tough, mean, cantankerous woman, we still tell stories about her. She was born in Milwaukee, but had moved to Sun City, Az, just outside of Phoenix, where she lived after my grandfather died. I stayed with her a couple of summers.
One year, she signed up for a trip with several of her Sun City friends to go to Lake Louis and Banff and several other sites. Well the 2nd day of the tour, she tripped coming off the bus, and went head first onto the pavement, and sprained her ankle, and broke her elbow, and gave herself a concussion - she was right at 80 years old. BUT with all that, she picked herself up, and forced her way through the rest of the week long trip, and by God she had paid for that trip and she wasn't going to let a couple measly broken bones mess that up for her. She was hard to get along with, but she was one tough old broad. I kind of take after her, I think. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 01, 2018 12:26 AM (V2Yro) 321

Posted by: JQ at September 01, 2018 12:31 AM (zMzA6) ..... Yes. You have to remember it's not really the president or even the media, to a great extent. It's just pack mentality. Get them out with a group of people that support the President and have drinks and do something fun and just talk about the President in a positive light amongst yourselves. They are weak-willed. In order to fit in and keep doing the fun stuff with the group, they will have to play along. Invite them out to do something again and again with the same group of friends and eventually they will want to identify more with real-life people having fun than to identify with either Facebook friends or the weird people that can't tell a bull from a cow that just sit around looking trendy and drinking overpriced coffee. You have to re-normalize them. Unless they just don't mean that much to you. In that case, study and identify their weak points in preperation for the burning times. Umm, density has nothing to do with how fast, or if, a material will break down in sea water (or any other solution). Salts are corrosive to most metals, but not to plastics. Plastics, in general, are more prone to degradation from UV light than are metals.

It does seem like a lot of work...
Posted by: Zettai Roshia-no Botto at September 01, 2018 12:53 AM (e9G8E) .... It is difficult, but if they are family, sometimes they are worth a little work. Another good technique if the boyfriend/husband is the contributing source of cuckism is to always be working on a project whenever they visit. Ask the incompetent soi his opinion on a number of things that a competent man should know like his opinion on changing brake pads, what the best way to sharpen your chainsaw chain is, to hand you a tool (either by specific size or any tool other than pliers or a hammer), which leader to use on your fishing line, his thoughts on the best way to cut a crown molding joint, etc, etc. Eventually you will give the soiboi an inferiority complex and he will yield to your competency and sister will gradually subconsciously note that her soi-partner is actually not intelligent, but just incompetent. This makes his incessant droning about gender fluidity and other social non-science nonsense less palatable later when they are domesticating. They will probably argue more and he will probably experience erectile dysfunction st some point. All of this moves the needle closer to liberation from her soi-world. Ultimately they soi will no longer want to attend family gatherings or functions and will find excuses to stay home. Then you can isolate the sister and reinstill normal, family values. This tact will not work, however, if she is the source of cuckology in their relationship, though you may actually wind up converting the bf/husband. It's a version of the Big Brothers mentoring program. Posted by: Bitter Clinger at September 01, 2018 01:09 AM (JJ9bx) 361

Logprof, you have to understand, that when one gets out of the habit of watching TV, one gets out of the habit of watching TV. Even if, like right now at this very moment, when I am sitting in a motel room with exty-ex channels of TV available, it has never crossed my mind to turn on the TV, because I am out of the habit. I have a netbook, and AOSHQ is on it, why should I watch TV?

If I only had one show to watch all the live long day, his would be it. Posted by: logprof at September 01, 2018 02:19 AM (e7oj4) I may have seen brief excerpts from his show. The other trouble with TV, and with video in general, is that it is TOO DAMNED SLOW of a way to impart information. I can read text on-screen waaay faster than some talking head on TV can bleat it at me, and I can also comprehend it better. And go back, and re-read, if something is unclear. And it only gets worse when you factor in all the non-information, disinformation, and simple abuse that constitutes most ads these days. Give each brat a bucket, mop, sponge, roll of paper towels, and collection of cleaning fluids. Tell them to clean bathrooms, bedrooms, windows and kitchen to your standards, or NO FOOD. I'm listening to classic dream pop while I'm typing this. . . . Posted by: logprof at September 01, 2018 02:30 AM (e7oj4) TV with the sound off is only half as stupid, so there's that. I work in the oilpatch, and it is appallingly common to go to the other end of the shack, and whoever is working there fucking always has the TV on. And it is a terrible distraction. If the TV sound is off, I can ignore it. If the sound is on, it's like a car wreck, I have to look. I will play music while I work, but usually blues or big band swing. I have come to truly hate TV as a destructive force in our culture. Before, I was just bored with it. Last time I turned on my own TV, and watched an over-the-air broadcast was 9/11. And a few years later, I felled the antenna pole, and left the mute TV on the credenza. Then, later, I parted it out. Had some good tubes and transformers in it, you know. TV has been a net negative on the culture ... of this I have no doubt.
I have these long podcasts with Russ Roberts or Jordan Peterson EG. They talk about topics that are asperational or important to my future life satisfaction.
