I used to eat at Burger King occasionally. Then years back they pulled that Pride Burger virtue signaling promotion ("Look! It's a rainbow-colored wrapper, but on the inside it's exactly the same burger!") and I've never been in there since.
I would eat Burger King if the wrapper had a picture of Richard Simmons sitting on a Soviet flag reading from the Q'uran, IF they still made good burgers. Remember flame broiling is better than frying? They cooked burgers over fire in front of your eyes. Now they microwave frozen meat from a factory. Folks, try to see if there are smaller "fast food chains" in your area.
There's a chicken place near my office that has 2 or 3 stores total. It's just like any other fast food place, but their food and service is much better. I'm probably helping the owner put his kids through college or something by eating there. When I go to a real "chain" on occasion I figure my money is probably just going up the ladder and eventually to some left wing cause or candidate. I won't even go to Chik-Fil-A anymore after I learned that the local one stick survey takers in the store to go up to customers while they are waiting for their food to ask questions. No thank you, I want to be left alone on my lunch break. Support local businesses, especially if you find out the owners vote the right way. Posted by: Iasonas at August 30, 2018 08:57 PM (MIvRT) 162

One day for some reason I decided to eat inside. It
was filthy inside. I mean disgusting! Never went back, in fact most BK's I've been to are dirty. I hate to have to eat at McD's as well but at least their places are fairly clean. The worst offender IMHO of being dirty or slightly worse than BK is KFC. Posted by: Minnfidel at August 30, 2018 08:42 PM (pgE7P) Burger King used to flame broil and immediately serve a burger. Now they grill them and put them in a warming box to hold. They now taste very mediocre, and the uniqueness of the flame broiling is gone. And the comment earlier about BK being dirty. The burgers at In-N-Out are awesome. The fries, not so much. Potatoes really need to be processed to be tasty. But the best part is the customer service, rivaling Chik-Fil-A. We have everything else and sometimes 3 within a few miles of each other. Nope, another freaking BK. There's already one in town, and they tore down the other one. Nasty, awful place. In and Out is good, but the beef and cheese taste they have is, to me, a little off. Not bad, just not my favorite. The lines outside most In and Outs would disagree with me. I am getting a pretty serious hate on for the FNM/Democrap party. IMO they recently caused a 9 year old boy to commit suicide in Denver. Oh they SAY that the suicide was because of homophobia because a 9 yr old 'came out' as gay and was bullied. But HW and the local FNM are to blame. A 9 year old kid can't even be gay -- he isn't sexually active unless he is being molested. Having some early hormones stirring and still thinking girls are gross is probably rather common; but fucking HW has pushed out the "oh gay is sooo cool" BS so he announces and was bullied. And the media is not saying "OH sheesh, how horrible that kids are making sexuality part of their world at 9 years old, its just all about ohh noes still homophobia and bullying in schools"

There would be a lot of shooting before that decision point. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at August 30, 2018 09:06 PM (LsBY9) Nice thought, but no, there won't. Why? Because it'll happen gradually. How much shooting goes in Austin? None. Yet there should be a lot, to deal with the liberal scum infesting it, because Austin is now a farm club to Berkeley. Ever so slowly, the Reds infest and undermine. 255 Texas is on the same trajectory as California, just 40 years behind"
Bless your heart... Posted by: Anon a mouse at August 30, 2018 09:17 PM (6qErC) I don't say that with pleasure. Quite the contrary. But I think it's the truth. California 40 years ago was more conservative than Texas is today. By light-years. Jerry Brown was elected in 1975 mostly on the basis of name recognition from his father. He was, IIRC, only the third Democrat governor since statehood in 1849. Meanwhile, in 1975, Texas was Democrat country. But that's because you wouldn't really oppose promoting that view, would you? The question is, what happens when conservatives see conservative businesses being penalized because their founders have a particular view, but liberal businesses get to shove their crap down people's throats with impunity? Should people with conservative views merely say "eh, I can't boycott every business, so I should patronize one that actively seeks to harm me and my community"? That is not the left's strategy. Check out this excerpt about Trump's diplomacy from Rolling Stone a few months back:
--------------------------------------------- This time, though, the photos turned out badly. When he emerged from his bargaining sessions, the president looked stung, like a small boy who had burned his fingers playing with a light socket. He came home empty-handed, and for once he was wearing the black hat - the man who said no to a historic opportunity. Confronted by the chance to become a genuine peacemaker, the president retreated in confusion. --------------------------------------------- Oops. Nevermind. The magazine was Rolling Stone but the year was 1986, the president was Reagan, and the topic was the Cold War. Posted by: Mega at August 30, 2018 10:01 PM (uEbPt) 442

I used to think I knew something about business until it was proved to me that I didn't. But I think companies being political is dim-witted and rude.
Why do corporations give to political causes? They can't be written off like charitable contributions, right? Silly me, I would think the company is there to profit the shareholders, and any political giving should be up to the those owners individually rather than the company. Even employees might've got a bit of bonus if the company hadn't supported some political cause, a cause which some employees might not support. Not that this shields the corporation - I mean, it was the ChikFilA owner(s?) who gave to save marriage, not the company IIRC - and that didn't deflect the h8rs. Just the principle of the thing.
