Eric Clanton, the Antifa Professor Charged With Beating People Over the Head With a U-Lock (A Deadly) Weapon, Offered Plea Deal of Three Years Probation, Not a Single Hour of Jail

Assault with a deadly weapon is a minor misdemeanor if you're an antifa attempted murderer.

A former East Bay college philosophy professor who was charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury, has taken a deal resulting in three years of probation for an attack at a Berkeley protest last year, court records reveal.

...

According to Alameda County Superior Court records, Clanton entered a "no contest" plea Wednesday to one misdemeanor battery charge. The felony charges against him were dismissed, and an allegation that he had caused serious bodily injury was stricken. A misdemeanor charge that Clanton wore a mask during the commission of the crime also was dropped.

...

Police said, previously, that Clanton attacked at least three people with a metal U-lock during the April 15 rally in and around Civic Center Park. Court papers later revealed that Clanton struck at least seven people in the head, according to authorities. One person received a head laceration that required five staples to fix. Another was uninjured but had a piece of a helmet broken off. A third was struck across the neck and back, police wrote.

The police found a ton of evidence which inarguably proved he was the assailant -- and yet California prosecutors decided to gently slap (tap?) him on the wrist.

Video of the one videotaped assault below. It happens in the first 30 seconds.

The festivities near the site of the permitted demonstration would seem to be the issue where the mayor, police, and governor have the most liability. Credible reports at the time by eye-witnesses described the police forcing the legal protesters to exit the park *into* the illegally assembled "counter" protesters - when a safe alterative was available (exiting via the other end of the park, onto a closed street).

199 Violence from the left is treated with a wink and a nod. Everything conservative is branded hate speech or Nazi-esque and therefore one is justified in doing whatever one wishes to do to an offender if one is on the left. Hopefully, the creep will be sued into oblivion. Beyond that, we must keep our list and never forget. Clanton's name must be remembered and these crimes must be draped around him like a yoke. He is a violent coward. He has escaped justice. We must never forget and never allow his future employers, girl friends/boy friends, friends, etc. to be ignorant of just the kind of buy he is.

210 If this happened in Florida, and the guy who was hit by the lock pulled out a gun and killed the good professor, the shooter would not serve one minute of jail time. It would be a fully justified under stand your ground.

I'm not a law-talking guy but I don't see how SYG would apply in that case. Hitting someone in the head with a club is a felony assault that could easily end in death. After you're struck, even in duty to retreat states, the deadly assault has already taken place. I don't believe you're required to attempt to flee AFTER the assault.

That said, if THEY flee, the law varies. Here in WA, you're allowed to fire on a person who committed a felony and is attempting to escape. Though, I would not personally test the law at that time.

Deprive them of their anonymity. There was a youtube video some time back where (somewhere in the South) cops were making Antifa remove their masks, or turning them away from the protest location. (Enforcing an old anti-KKK law. #Irony) They turned back like the cowards they are.

Unmasking or broadcasting identities in advance would emasculate these people very quickly.

Figuring out how to do that is tricky, but the Berkeley police posting the identities of a couple dozen of these criminals is a good start!

307 On 14 September 1921, Hitler and a substantial number of SA members and other Nazi Party adherents disrupted a meeting at the Löwenbräukeller of the Bavarian League. This federalist organization objected to the centralism of the Weimar Constitution, but accepted its social program. The League was led by Otto Ballerstedt, an engineer whom Hitler regarded as "my most dangerous opponent." One Nazi, Hermann Esser, climbed upon a chair and shouted that the Jews were to blame for the misfortunes of Bavaria, and the Nazis shouted demands that Ballerstedt yield the floor to Hitler.[29] The Nazis beat up Ballerstedt and shoved him off the stage into the audience. Both Hitler and Esser were arrested, and Hitler commented notoriously to the police commissioner, "It's all right. We got what we wanted. Ballerstedt did not speak."[30] Hitler was eventually sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and ended up serving only a little over one month.
