Facts: Yes They Are Inconvenient, But Oh So Nice To Counter Leftist NeverTrumper Disinformation

FACT: Trump Administration Imposes New Sanctions on Putin Cronies
If President Trump were truly a tool of the Kremlin and Putin, one would think that he would be more conciliatory toward Putin's supporters. Instead he is hammering them with sanctions.

FACT: US May Become World's Biggest Oil Producer in 2019, a First Since Cold War Era
Russia's economy is heavily dependent on oil sales, because let's face it, Russian products stink, they have no significant exports except oil, nerve gas, polonium tipped umbrellas and weapons. So any decrease in oil prices is a significant blow to Putin and Russia and his plans, whatever they may be. Yet President Trump is a loud and proud believer in American energy independence, and supports the oil and coal industries in very concrete ways. If he were a Russian stooge, one would think that he would try to limit American energy production to raise the price of oil on the world markets.

FACT: Poland signs offset deal for US Patriot missiles Strengthening a traditional foe of Russia doesn't seem to be the behavior of a president who is supposedly in the pocket of the Russians, yet here we are!

FACT:Pentagon to give Ukraine $200 million more in military aid The Russian backed separatists won't be happy about this...

FACT:Trump slams Germany over Russian gas pipeline, calling it 'a horrible mistake'

"I think it's a horrible thing that Germany's doing. It's a horrible mistake. How can you be working for peace and working from strength when somebody has that kind of power over you," the US president said. "You've given up all of your strength. I think it's very bad for Germany. It's very bad for the German people. And I don't think it's very good for NATO, if you want to know the truth."
Sounds like a Russian stooge to me!

As Ace so ably discussed a few days ago, foreign policy realism often trumps* the moral high ground. Would I like President Trump to do something about Russian expansion into their former republics? Absolutely. Would I like him to push back on Russian hijinks all over the world, which includes the time-honored Russian tradition of murdering its enemies? Absolutely. Would I like him to stop their forays into American politics (also a time-honored tradition)? Sure!

But any solutions to these ancient problems must be respectful of American blood and treasure, so it is a bit complicated. It took 70 years to end Soviet domination of Eastern Europe, and that required trillions of dollars and many thousands of American lives, and it would not have happened were it not for a few great men who arrived on the world stage at exactly the correct time. The current incarnation of the Russian Bear is not nearly as dangerous, and simply doesn't require the same amount of political, financial and human capital, because we are not in an existential battle with it.

Shall we talk about China?

17 Trump's Russia policies are the exact opposite of Obama's. For example, Obama's "After the election I'll have more flexibility " directly concerned the missile defense system for Poland. Sure enough, after the election Obama did not authorize the sale to Poland, which is what Russia/Putin wanted.

45 I do wish we could have an honest discussion of Russia, and where we are in our relationship with them. But I think it is SUBSTANTIALLY less important that we settle that as a nation, than for us to get a handle on China.

We're doing the proverbial selling to them of the rope that will be used to hang us. And nobody seems to care. This is one of the fundamental hopes I have for this Administration: That we have a coherent policy regarding China. That we stop pretending like "free markets" are an unmitigated good, when we live in a world that rapes our "free" marketplace, while having chastity belts on their own.

50 There was an article referenced in the previous thread, about a new "super torpedo" that the Russians are supposedly developing, which the MSM is apparently fainting over. That article was so stupid on so many levels; it's hardly worth going through all the mistakes. Or to point out the fact that the Russians started work on this project when they were the old USSR, and they've NEVER gotten it to work right. (It's long been rumored that it was a test of a prototype of this that sank the Submarine Kursk and killed its entire crew, 118 men)

Fancy torpedos are passe now, anyways. What can an opponent do with one of those that they can't do better and cheaper with a satellite guided maneuverable ballistic missile? (a little thing that supposedly the Chinese are working on)

Forcing European countries to worry that the US might not always have their back is the opposite of what I'd do if I were a Russian patsy. And if the US president is in the pocket of Russia, then the EU is basically defenseless if we're the only ones protecting them.

Here, would you like some AK-47's and some RPG's?

A lot of their infantry weapons are in fact, sturdy, reliable and good for the Third World type wars that the USSR engaged in to bring about the World Socialist Revolution ( which is becoming the banner under which our own Democrat Party wants to march).

Their armor and planes look good against under-armed people in the Third World, but their tanks as used by the Iraqis in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom got annihilated by M-1's and British Chieftain armor.

And the ability of pilots to handle a modern jet goes a long way to describing how badly the Soviet era jets did against the Western equipped nations (especially Israel). IDF pilots are very highly trained and motivated. Arab pilots, not so much.

And of course, the Soviets/Russians always used the excuse of these being the "monkey" models made for export. Sure.

Heh. From the February a$$-whupping the US gave Russia in Syria:

Phone calls intercepted by a US-funded news organization allegedly captured Russian military contractors detailing the humiliating defeat.

"We got our f--- asses beat rough, my men called me... They're there drinking now... many have gone missing ...it's a total f--- up," one Russian paramilitary chief said, according to Polygraph.info...

Russia is thought to use military contractors in Syria rather than its military --- experts speculate it's to maintain deniability for acts of war...

Trump f'ed up Putin deniability of forces in Syria. So now Putting knows that Trump won't play games. Yeah, what a stooooge!

Remember that a substantial portion of the gay mulatto's elections were young liberals. Time helps heal stupidity and increases wisdom. So, 20 year old Va Jay Jay Watson votes for the Hope and Change magic negro. Four years later, she decides to give the him a second change because, well, change takes time. After 8 years, she has a husband, kids, a mortgage, car payments, make-up costs, etc. She is out of Hope and short on change. She won't admit she voted for the mochatard, but, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Live and learn. As Churchill supposedly said, "Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains." This is one advantage of the decrease in births. Fewer young people to have their stupidity and lack of experience taken advantage of.

Posted by: Under Fire

There's precedent for that. FDR made Joe P Kennedy drop trou in the Oval Office in order to be considered for Ambassador to Great Britain.

Seriously.

Basically, he was trying to piss off old Joe because he really didn't want him as Ambassador, but Joe was important enough to where an interview was necessary. So he had him drop his pants to see if he really was as bow-legged as a mutual friend had claimed. FDR started laughing and braying to his son James, who was also in the meeting.

He explained that the new Ambassador would have to present himself to the King in period costume: breeches, powdered wig, and tights. And if he sent Joe to the King with those bow legs in tights, FDR would be the laughing stock of Europe.

Joe kept his cool and made an offer. If he could get the Limeys to allow him to present himself in the modern Ambassador's top hat, tails and striped pants, would he be allowed to take the position? FDR figured he couldn't do it, so he agreed.

A week later, the British Government sent a cable modifying the costume to.... top hat, tails and striped pants.

Posted by: TexasDan at July 25, 2018 02:28 PM (0MYeZ)

Yes and no.

Tsar Bomba was 50 megatons worth of TNT; the Indian Ocean quake of 2004 was a little under half of that energy released, on the surface of the planet.

Down below the crust, according to Wiki, the energy release was around 9600 gigatons. o.o A truly terrifying amount of energy.

Also, I wonder with regards to a bomb under the harbor; since the energy is released in all directions from a bomb, and a tectonic thrust is all in one direction, doesn't that further muddy the waters with regard to measuring one against the other?

Don't know that this can be napkin mathed to be honest.

If you're a member of a parish, go to the pastor and inform him of your situation. Even if you're not, just keep calling local rectories and let them know. The one benefit of being part of a faith community is that somebody usually can lend a helping hand. Someone may even have a job opening.

When I'm working and getting a regular paycheck, I help out as much as I can. Once there was a temp working for us who couldn't make her rent and was behind a couple months. Posted by: JackStraw at July 25, 2018 01:46 PM (/tuJf)

Thanks, Jack,
As I don't have time to be on here much today, here is what I was planning to post on the last thread.

Let's take a walk back in time and review the deal with Cohen.
Several years ago, a story surfaced in one of the tabloids that Trump had an affair with Stormy Daniels, According to Daniel's friend who is also in the business, Daniel's supposedly told her she had sex with Trump at a golf tournament she was attending , for reasons no one can explain.

Nothing happened, story floated away. Fast forward to Trump announcing run for presidency, then becoming Rep. candidate. Gloria Allred begins fishing expedition for any and all sluts willing to run forward and claim they slept with Trump, they were harassed by Trump, etc. Stormy Daniels story again takes front page when same friend runs to Allred with story. Daniels states that she did NOT have sex with Trump , same statement from Trump. Then Daniels begins being coy about answering, still refuses to say anything about it but stops denials. Same time, Karen McDougal, claims Trump had sex with her at the Playboy mansion during the same time period in 2006, gets lots of attention, etc. Half a dozen beauty pageant bimbos all claim Trump did something untoward in their presence, one claimed he touched her butt while walking by her in a crowd at a golf tournament, another claimed he deliberately walked around their dressing room at pageants while they were naked(which doesn't happen anyway), etc.

Trump is elected. In January, Daniels acquires lawyer who is a Dem. operative, including having worked on Biden's campaign, and she begins tour of talk shows, claiming she was forced to sign NDA in exchange for $130,000, she only wants to tell her story, and her lawyer claims the NDA is illegal because Trump didn't sign it. She violates NDA, tells her version of sex , encluding detail on every show she can get booked on. Lawyer takes Trump's lawyer Cohen to court, claiming the NDA was illegal and wants FBI to investigate
"shadowy man who threatened porn actress in parking lot over DNA" Cohen files suit against Daniels and Avanetti for violation of NDA and libel, but subsequently withdraws suit. Cohen's office raided by FBI at direction of Mueller who has handed whatever evidence he has in records from Trump to NY state or Fed. attorneys, his records seized and then court decides to appt. referee to go through and determine what is privileged and what is evidence in case.

Case is unknown at this point, other than Cohen is still being sued by Avanetti? Prosecutors think they have something on him ?

Who knows. But Cohen is also now being run by a Dem operative, Lanny Davis. Avenetti , who probably knows things Davis doesn't want public about Dems, is pushing against Cohen, and I think Davis is trying to pin whatever Cohen did on Trump.

Which doesn't matter, a lawyer can't commit a crime at the direction of his client and run free.

Other than the above, I do not know what Davis and Cohen possibly gain by releasing private conversations between Cohen and his client. None, nada

Spam fried in a skillet is one of the best things on the planet. Too bad I can't have it anymore because of the insane amount of salt in it.

I am one of those who believes that even in the world to come, there are going to be punishments handed out to believers as well as rewards. Which isn't to say anyone's going to lose their salvation... but that we have precious little information on the world to come, and that even a child can see that we all leave this little blue world with a host of unresolved issues and loose threads.

I believe fervently that this will be a major issue for those family members who abandoned you and your mother when they stand before God, and I wonder indeed how your father is going to take the news when he receives it.

344 The Baker test at Bikini atol created a wave 94 ft high - detonated 90
feet below the surface which hit the shoreline 3.5 miles away as a
succession of 9 waves up to 15 foot high. The fog coated the target
ships with radioactivity that couldn't be decontaminated.
The Baker test was a 23 KT weapon.

The
fog and resultant vapor effects were so serious the military canceled a
third test which was to be done at a depth of 160 feet with a weapon of
equal size.
The below surface test resulted in the deliberate sinking of vessels that couldn't be decontaminated.
That wasn't the case in the above first above ground test.

Harbor depth was 180 feet, the blast scoured out a crater 30 feet deep and 2000 feet wide.

Scale it up from 23KT and you begin to see how exciting it could be.

347 No disagreement there. However, if the Eurotrash can't be bothered to spend enough to defend themselves, why SHOULD we bother?

It is infuriating to have to constantly point out to Leftists and
Eurotrash (often redundant), that it's really easy to have generous
welfare states when some other country is defending them.

Posted by: Curmudgeon at July 25, 2018 02:20 PM (ujg0T)

Agreed 100%. But, do we as a nation deem Europe to be strategically important?

Frankly, I believe we as a nation will be going back there again to defend Europe. Most likely this time to save it from the muzzies.
Posted by: Our Country is Screwed at July 25, 2018 02:31 PM (jxbfJ)

I'm with Curmudgeon. Strategically important for what? If Russia took over Europe, they'd be too overextended to do us any harm.

And we won't be going back, because Europe has chosen to inject itself with the zombie virus and become Muslim. You don't plan a raid into a community to save it from zombies if you know that they are all already zombies and will rabidly kick and spit at you because they want to become zombies, or at least side with the zombies.

He's handed off almost all of his investigations including the Russian trolls, hackers, Cohen even Maria Butina the supposed Russian spy who was indicted the other day.

All he's got is Manafort, Gates, Pap and Flynn, the latter of which will likely be thrown out of court.

Last time I was in Hong Kong they were limiting the daily border
crossings of mainland Chinese coming into Hong Kong because they were
buying up all the staples like baby formula and toilet paper.

They might want to crack the code on making asswipe before attempting a takeover of the world.
