Nunes Unchained: DOJ and FBI Have Bet All Of Their Chips on Democrats Winning the House, Which Will End Investigations Into Their Misbehavior; 90% of Reporters "Essentially an Arm of the Democrat Party"

Ben Smith immediately demanded that Devin Nunes be excluded from any future meetings with FaceBook.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), in a wide-ranging audio interview with his House colleague Rep. Sean Duffy (R., Wis.), accused top officials at the FBI and DOJ of "putting all their chips on the Republicans losing the House" so that their Democratic allies can "shut down" the longstanding Intelligence Committee probe, which has unearthed information disputing claims of collusion in recent months.

Rep. Duffy interviewed Rep. Nunes for an upcoming episode of Duffy's podcast, "Plaidcast."

Nunes also lashed out at the U.S. media, accusing "90 percent" of reporters covering the Russia probe of being "essentially an arm of the Democratic party," according to an advance copy of the interview shared with the Washington Free Beacon.

Speaking of Ben Smith:

Buzzfeed is being sued for publishing the Steele Dossier (or is that the Blumenthal/Shearer dossier, rewritten by Steele to make it less obvious this was a Hillary Clinton conspiracy theory?) which claimed that a Russian businessman was involved in the Podesta/DNC hack. He's claiming that Buzzfeed, therefore, defamed him, by publishing allegations they didn't bother to confirm.

Well, the feds indicted 12 Russians for that hack -- and this Russian businessman wasn't mentioned at all.

A Russian tech executive suing BuzzFeed News over the Steele dossier says he is vindicated by special counsel Robert Mueller's indictment of 12 Russian nationals allegedly involved in cyber attacks against Democrats.

Aleksej Gubarev, the executive, says Mueller's indictment shows he was not involved in hacks of Democratic National Committee emails, as the dossier alleges.

He has filed defamation lawsuits against BuzzFeed News, the website’s editor, Ben Smith and dossier author Christopher Steele. BuzzFeed published the dossier on Jan. 10, 2017. Steele, a former British spy, compiled the dossier as part of an anti-Trump research project funded by the DNC and Clinton campaign.

"This is a complete and utter vindication of our clients," Gubarev's attorney Val Gurvits said of the Mueller indictment.

Maybe Buzzfeed Ben should worry about his own trash-site's journalistic standards and worry less about the Daily Caller's.

Oh: Representative Ratcliffe says that Lisa Page admitted the texts she and Peter Strzok exchanged meant exactly what they seemed to mean, rather than resorting to Strzok's dishonest "By 'We'll stop it' I meant the American voter would stop it" bullshit:

18 From day one, this whole story has been pretty clear to me.

Media says no foreign leader would ever work with the US again if Trump is elected, they all hate him -- then they mistranslated Putin calling Trump "bright," Trump says "great guy, great guy" about Putin, Hillary's team began thinking of this false Putin / Trump story, Trump then jokes about Russia finding her 33,000 emails, then we're off to the races.

That's literally all this is. As someone who watched this all unfold, I'm not surprised at any of these developments.

I don't think the DNC was "hacked" by anyone or they would have showed the servers to the FBI and screamed about it from the rooftops. Who knows who phished Podesta... super unsophisticated, no reason to think it was a state actor.

Yeah, this has all been nonsense since day 1. And yet everyone is running with it. Aggravating.

Polls are saying yeah probably going to happen. And yes, I know, I know polls shmolls. But other than the 2016 presidential race, polls have been quite accurate in American elections. Polls said GOP would win the house in 2010, they did. Polls said GOP would win the Senate in 2014, they did. Polls said Dems would win the house in 2006, they did.

And right now polls are saying Dems will win the house. It's still 3+ months away and shit can change, but it's more likely than not that Nancy will be the next speaker.

That is - a MASSIVE abuse of the country's most sensitive and powerful authorities vested in the federal govt.

As many here have long noted - by far, the greatest scandal in American history (Clinton crime wave at State in 2nd place, IRS scandal in 3rd).

Nice how Nunes notes, as again many of us occasionally do, that if there were anything like a press, and these abuses had been against a Dem president or campaign, there would have been complete unending uproar, and demonstrations in the streets (properly so, his statement implies).

55 The deep state are ready for Pres Trump this time, they will do anything to win the house.

They know they will not be prosecuted for any voting crimes committed now, as evidenced by their skating on their coup.

As I explain on the last thread (to those claiming I am a troll or "concerned"), this is very, very, very, dangerous.

Pres Trump has no control over his DOJ or FBI who defy him at every turn.

He has no media to defend him, and no party to defend him. Something must be done.

Look, I am more American than any of you.

And I tell you on my authority as an American that what America needs now is a Foreign Legion! We must disband the fascist ICE and allow undocumented future American troops to come over border, go immediately to boot camp, and then straight to Middle East!

I'm willing to be general of American Foreign Legion, and lead Foreign Legion to victory in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Donbas, Moscow!

90 Mid-terms in the House typically result in out-of-power (i.e., opposite of White House party) pick-ups, for the last few decades. Last exception was 2002. Which has quite a few things that reasonably could be said to be parallels to this cycle - most importantly, a Dem party that is off the rails. This time, their extremism and idiocy is multiples of what it was in 2002.

Polls. Last generic I saw had the Dems at just barely the level where they pick up seats. And no guarantee that, even with some pick-ups, that they pick up enough to take the House.

If the Dems don't *lose* seats in this environment (assuming no big changes before Nov.), the case that the country is gone will be greatly strengthened.

And if the Dems take the House, of course as Nunes says the entire investigation of these mega-scandals will simply stop (apart from anything DOJ is actually doing). Would not be hyperbole of any sort to say that if that happens, the general legitimacy of the USG will have just about evaporated.

you have the United States' law enforcement department essentially
going rogue and telling those with legal authority to pound sand.

Ditto. The day-to-day junk is fodder, this is the real issue as I see it, too.
What happens if they don't get a Blue House and the Repubs stay in charge? Can the Deep State and their Law Tools that they own continue to play the stonewall game another 2 years? Because they are all as crooked as a mountain back road.

And note to "Rank and File": IF you have been authorized to uphold the law, and you are aware your superiors are breaking the law, then you are REQUIRED TO ARREST THEM!!! Or you are just as GUILTY as they are!

I read something today (still looking for link now) that blew me away.

It is quite possible that the DNC did not want to turn over their servers because it was the DNC itself via Imran Awan and others (likely Fusion GPS among them) who were the "contractors" who were making Section 702 data queries -- the issue Mike Rogers reported to the FISA court and shut down.

Very shortly after that, Rogers went to see Trump at his HQ in NYC. That same night, Trump announced that his entire operation would be moved to his Jersey property.

This is shocking, if true.

Not always. Such as when the current champs feel they're being dissed, taken for granted, and ganged up on by everyone else. Bill Belichick is pretty good at getting the Patriots to feel like they have a chip on their shoulder, with something to prove, despite being nearly perpetual champions.

173 Yeah it is very doubtful that the "intensity" index favors Dems this time. That's one reason I said it's more like 2002 than most mid-terms. And anyone who thought "O-care!!" was a *positive* for the Dems in 2010 was completely unconnected to any political reality in the country (it was never popular, before or after passage).

If the Keystone Coup plotters go unpunished, I'd say in some sense all bets are off in the country. Because a literally unbelievable abuse of power, directly aimed at affecting elections, will have been unpunished, despite being discovered. That's why I say, for the first time probably in our history, there will be a real legitimacy crisis for the federal political system, at least of this variety, which common globally.

And several who follow every detail are, like a commenter above, starting to wonder if some of the illicit 302 queries done by "contractors" were in fact done by the DNC itself. The sort of jaw-droppingly brazen and risky thing that would be ..... much more easily imaginable in a world where the Keystone Coup attemp goes unpunished.

If through some miracle nothing changes between now and Nov., I'd expect GOP holds the House and even picks up a few seats, and I'd put the Senate pick-ups at the Big 5 (WV MT MO IN ND) as a *floor*, with events favoring the GOP pushing that up to as many as 8 pick-ups.

But with this economy and several other consistent patterns, odds seem to favor catastrophe for the Dems much more than a reversal of fortune for the GOP (whose vote will, more than in a long time, be driven by presidential issues).

That's what the #Walkaway movement is. I've watched a few of the video testimonials and what struck me was the heartache by these people: they've realized that they have been manipulated and lied to by Democrat politicians AND the Democrat Party has turned into something very ugly.

Their grievances against the Democrats don't seem to have anything to do with THEIR preferred politician not calling the shots (unlike the PUMA bunch in 200 in the Democrat Party. I don't see those #Walkaway people voting for a party that they have very publicly disassociated from.

This whole "Party in power loses the House of Representatives in mid-term elections" is bull$h!t, too. Democrats held the House of Representatives from 1948 to 1994 and didn't lose the House despite the Johnson being seen as responsible for the Vietnam War and the economic $h!t-show that was the Carter years. We shall see what happens, but Democrat victory is far from inevitable. The constant screeching has caused people to tune them out: not a single person in the office said a word about President Trump's press conference with Vlad Putin.

Here's more bad news...he was brought in as a hired gun in Georgia, Maryland, Connecticut, New York, and most recently, North Carolina. You might think...New York and Connecticut? Who cares...lost causes. Except there are a bunch of small conservative bastions (districts) in both those states...or I should say, there used to be.

Here's what the dems did. They filed lawsuits in all these states, preferably those with lefty Supreme Courts. The Supreme Courts circumvented the state Constitutions and ordered the redistricting. Then they (the supreme courts) hired the California professor to come in. Of course, his handiwork heavily favored democrats. To quote a Pennsylvania Republican election consultant. 322 The question for the Dems is do they really want to win the House? There is no question the Pubs will have an increased Senate Majority - somewhere between 55 to 59 seats. So what does winning the House net them? More invites to Cable News channels? Maxine will yell louder? They can do a Clinton impeachment and guarantee a Trump Landslide in 2020. My guess is the Dem establishment wants the hard left to fail so they can reassert control of the party.

For that to work, he needed the cooperation of the highest population states where cheating was suspected - specifically Illinois, California, and New York. 339 1. This is true. If--and Lord, please make it so--the GOP holds the House, Rosenstein at a minimum, and preferably most of his staff, must be removed.

2. Strzok must be indicted. Not just fired, not just deprived of some minuscule portion of his pension, but actually brought before a court of law.

3. The same must be done to Comey, Ohr, Ohr's Baba-Yaga-like wife, and any and all of the co-conspirators.

There must be a housecleaning. Failure to have one will just prolong the agony.
