The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

American Exceptionalism has been developed over hundreds of years, and preserving that greatness is one of the duties of our culture. That does not mean being xenophobic, but it does mean regulating those who enter our country for the purpose of becoming American. Have we needed immigration in the past? Absolutely. Our industrial revolution needed millions of immigrants who yearned for a better life and were willing to work their asses off to get it. Most used their backs, and some used their brains (Steinmetz and Carnegie come to mind), but most were willing to contribute to the growth of this magnificent experiment in freedom and resilience and an unstoppable drive to succeed. Funny that we are no longer allowed to protect our culture, but Denmark is! Even the NYT is relatively evenhanded in its reporting.

In Denmark, Harsh New Laws for Immigrant 'Ghettos' [Warning: NYT link]

COPENHAGEN — When Rokhaia Naassan gives birth in the coming days, she and her baby boy will enter a new category in the eyes of Danish law. Because she lives in a low-income immigrant neighborhood described by the government as a “ghetto,” Rokhaia will be what the Danish newspapers call a “ghetto parent” and he will be a “ghetto child.”

Starting at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their families for at least 25 hours a week, not including nap time, for mandatory instruction in “Danish values,” including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and Danish language. Noncompliance could result in a stoppage of welfare payments. Other Danish citizens are free to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to the age of six.

Denmark’s government is introducing a new set of laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim enclaves, saying that if families there do not willingly merge into the country’s mainstream, they should be compelled.

Is this the coming trend in Europe? They are pushing back in fits and starts, but the UK, France and Germany are the least willing to push back and yet have the most to lose.

Forced assimilation. What could go wrong?

Posted by: SH at July 05, 2018 11:13 AM (sX1BW)

38 The Danes at least recognize immigrants should assimilate. So they've got that going for them. Are they strict about allowing Muslims into the country in the first place? That would negate the need to instruct them for 25 hours a week in how to be a good Dane. How much does that cost the citizens to provide that, and is it even possible to succeed? Can Muslims truly be assimilated? Everywhere they go in the world they self-segregate and are resistant to adapting to local laws and customs.

Posted by: JuJuBee, just generally being shamey at July 05, 2018 11:13 AM (2NqXo)

39 The Oregon open-borders types put out a report a year ago saying that illegal migrants paid $81 million in taxes in Oregon, all of which was apparently available to hire extra schoolteachers.

Unfortunately for them, it was a fairly simple exercise to take estimated tax receipts, divide by the estimated numbers of illegal migrants, and compare that to state-wide tax receipts and state-wide population.

It turned out that the illegals paid a sixth of what the average Oregonian paid in income taxes, and a quarter of what the average Oregonian paid in property taxes (including imputed property taxes in rent).

I think that the illegals demands on social services were more than 17-25% of the average Oregonian's.

42 Denmark, against all of the hectoring and all of the indoctrination, is pushing back. They won't be the last and it won't end with a demand to assimilate.

There are many people who ascribe to the Marxist idea of history, that history moves from Point A along a undeviating path to an inevitable Point B. Conclusions are foregone and they only argument is when. Resistance is futile.

I think that is lovely-sounding and intellectually satisfying but ultimately stupid propaganda. History is rather one darn thing after another, there are no foregone conclusions, the weirdest things can start trends or stop them and the one thing you can guarantee is that you will not be bored.

We used to bitch of about leftist control of academia in the abstract, it was real but not fully realized it seemed there was still time to change course. That is no longer the case. The left changed too, because there was a time they liked America too.

Denmark is being clever. They are obligated to keep somewhat open borders under EU laws, so they are trying to encourage migrants to go to other EU countries, instead of to Denmark.

Presumably they have to register when they first come into Denmark, so the authorities know the kids are there. So non-compliant parents can be politely reminded, and if the non-compliance continues, the welfare checks suddenly stop. It would be hard to generate a public ugly scene over that. It's not like the government has to come in and actually do something, make an arrest, or whatever. All they have to do stop payment.

195 the left hates American Exceptionalism, because they are statists, in direct opposition to Individual Liberty (Bill of Rights)
it is simple. afaik, we are the only country in the world that recognized man as his own sovereign, and government limited and ruled by the consent of the governed. Religious state leaders, royalty, emperors, or communists ... all rule as if they "own their people", even if they pretend God owns them, but THEY are the direct arbiter for God.

Our military draft was maybe close to overruling that individual liberty, but there were exceptions, and now it is voluntary.

The current denial of our liberty, incredible debt and bowing to bankers and/or the DeepState -- contrary to individual liberty, as even our children are being put deep in debt, and the country's wealth is being "extracted" by criminal enterprises like the Clinton "charity".

someone teach the open borders people that Ellis Island was part of a rather strict entry test for immigrants. Even the waves from Europe changed us in often harmful ways, but there was enough commonality to still bind us. This is less true for much of the third world from other parts, especially when they are run her by the cartels.

235 There's some signs of hope for Europe, especially in Italy and Hungary.

We're even seeing a surge in people fighting back in Britain against the pedo grooming gangs.

I think the globalists fucked up and threw the frog in the hot water. People are repulsed by the immigration onslaught and what's happening.

Italy may be the first of many pro-nationalist parties to sweep into power. Italy is leading the way, showing common sense laws that other EU nations may soon demand.

Merkle just caved to the conservatives to save her ugly ass skin. I doubt she lasts. People are fed up and the movement is growing.

I lay all the success at the feet of Donald Trump. Once again, it takes a strong leader like him and Regean to show the world that they don't have to just take it as prescribed by the liberal globalists. I think Trump was the match.

Taxpayer revolt under way in New Haven (of all places) after the mayor (a black woman, what else) announces an 11% tax increase. This after giving herself a $10,000 pay raise and taking 22 of her besties on a fancy cruise-- following Moochelle's fine example.

Don't know what will come of the revolt, but some folks are already drafting a petition to recall the mayor.

New Haven's last Republican mayor was elected in 1952, and the place has been a one-party town ever since. The frosting on the cake is that the lovely Rosa DeLauro is our Congressperson.

You used to be able to become a lawyer just by clerking for a lawyer for a while and then passing the bar exam (and still is, in a couple of states, but they've made it quite difficult). It was very common before the 20th century.

Now who is goalpost shifting?!

For shits and grins, because you know this isn't like a presidential debate in that I have to rely on memory of what you said....the words are all typed out up there, here's what I said:

Meh, I don't care if a SCOTUS nominee knows how Court "works."

If anything, the Courts have put in all kinds of arcane rules and procedures that amount to barriers to entry that keep the connected in power and keeps the Court the unaccountable entity that it is.

In shorter form - the law needs fewer lawyers.

In an astounding display of whatever passes for logic, your response was:

Do you care about winning?

Bush v. Gore: won
D.C. v. Heller: won

Um, I was talking about SCOTUS, without your irrelevant and frankly logic-deprived answer. Anyway, I responded:

I don't think I need a law degree to be able to recognize the actual reality of what was happening in those two cases.

First one, you can't mess with the rules in select counties to count votes - rules apply to all, or they apply to none.

Second, the 2A means what it says.

Then you come back, true to form, with:

And yet similar cases have been lost.

I don't need a medical degree to recognize uncontrollable bleeding, but having one might come in handy nonetheless.

OK, so here you are mentioning "similar cases." In response to me talking about SCOTUS.

So what are the "similar cases that have been lost" in context with what I was fucking talking about, namely SCOTUS? Namely a 2A case, since that was one of the two YOU BROUGHT UP.

And please, be specific.

If I pulled a stunt like that when I was in school would be consequences. Example: Draw three small circles - . center one to put your nose, the outer ones for the pointer fingers. The height would be up enough so they would have to stand on my toes. Remain in that position for the remainder of class. Drop your arms or step away from the chalkboard and you'd find yourself doing it after school too.

He said something along the lines that some of these new taxi drivers had been in the United States and Chicago for just a few days, and they were already Chicagoanized - they had already learned how to bribe city officials to get what they wanted.

You skipped the best parts. It was in a dream and the horse took mo to the rock through which mo ascended to heaven to haggle with allah over the number of sets each day muzzies have to kiss the floor. allah wanted something like 35 sets a day but mo bargained him down to 5. This was, yet, another instance of mo stealing from the Torah and perverting the story (as there are a few times in the Torah where people bargain with God - as regarding Sodom and Gommorrah and such).

The koran never actually states that this rock was in Jerusalem, BTW, but only that it was "the far mosque", I believe is the translated term. Those muzzies can't get enough of rocks. They'll pray to pretty much any stone.

Well, as bad as POW camps were, they were not extermination.

It probably helped that (1) German characters were comical dolts and outwitted, and (2) actors Werner Klemperer and John Banner were Jews who had fled from Germany and Austria, and actor Robert Clary was a French Jew who had actually been a concentration camp inmate, and they gave it their blessing.

Most comedy comes out of horrendous events and acts. Comedy is one of Man's most fundamental mechanisms to cope with mind-numbing tragedy. The worse the act the funnier the eventual comedy to come from it.

I never saw it but I believe there was a comedy that was set in the death camps that won tons of awards ... Life Is Beautiful. At least, that's what I heard it was about.

It was clear who the 'good guys' were (us, the brits, the french) and since we'd won it was okay to poke fun at the 'bad' guys. Why not set a comedy in Auschwitz? Wouldn't that be hilarious?

Posted by: Xipe Totec at July 05, 2018 12:56 PM (o2MD2)

Well, as bad as POW camps were, they were not extermination.

It probably helped that (1) German characters were comical dolts and
outwitted, and (2) actors Werner Klemperer and John Banner were Jews
who had fled from Germany and Austria, and actor Robert Clary was a
French Jew who had actually been a concentration camp inmate, and they
gave it their blessing.

Posted by: Curmudgeon at July 05, 2018 01:01 PM

I watched "Inglorious Basterds" the other day. Tarantino does know how to spin a yarn.

The story of course, is a group of Jewish soldiers, sent to occupied France, to wreak havoc on the nazis, wherever and however. A great piece of alternate history of course, not at all like Hogan's Heroes in its execution, but it does touch more firmly on the Jewish aspect of it all.

In the end, I think we're entirely within our rights to use comedy (or in Tarantino's case, absurd violence) with these subjects. As long as we're not going for gross exploitation of the people who suffered most from the actual events.

San Antonio Police confirmed to Heavy that a police report was filed by the victim and a guardian who was with them, at 6:27 PM on July 4. But police also stressed that no arrest has been made in the case, and no warrant has been issued. Police would not confirm or deny the identity of the man in the video. Jimenez was identified through his social media pages and by friends of the victim. He could not be reached for comment by Heavy.

527 I never "got" Hogan's heroes.
It is easy to read too far into things. Today we analyze everything to death to see if anything could be considered offensive. I am not criticizing you here, I think we all do it, even conservatives. It is part of our shared culture, everything has to be filtered of anything that could offend, unless the offense is towards conservatives, then let go with both barrels.

Hogan's Heroes was a bit before my time but I would guess they placed the sitcom in a setting that would resonate with viewers. It would be harder to have a comedy when the men are charging a hill and getting shot, although Blackadder did it once. I do remember the main thread of the show was making fools of the Germans. That is not too far from war era cartoons etc.

560 Australian Valley Eyewear firm shoots ad at Jasenovac death camp

-
I thought that I was fairly knowledgeable about WWII The Big One but I had never heard about Jasenovac. So I looked it up. They call it a death camp but it wasn't a true death camp in the Auschwitz-Birkenau/Treblinka mode. More of a standard concentration/labor camp like Dachau where conditions amounted to murder but wasn't an actual death factory. It was huge, 80 square miles, but run by Croats rather than Germans and the ratio of Jews was far lower, half or a little less. Many Serbs died there. Although controversial, probably no more than 100,000 people died although some contend that the number approaches or exceeds 1,000,000. Many guards wore a "Srbosjek" or "Serbcutter", strapped to the hand. It was a device allowing you to always have a knife in the palm of your hand.

Speaking of such thinbs, I was also reading about Dr. Johann "Hans" Friedrich Karl Asperger, known for the famous syndrome. He was an Austrian Nazi who did try to help such children as he considered salvageable but sent many others to euthanasia facilities.

562 Guderian may have been a smooth and slippery character, prosecution-wise. He had to retroactively change his story about how he got his hands on a massive estate in (at that time) former Poland. May not have had the cleanest hands.

But when it suddenly looked, in the early 50's, like the war was not really over and Ivan might roll, that SOB had his treads greased, was tanned and ready. And it can't have been the most glorious thing, to spend the rest of your career as the New Germany Inspektor of Armor, after having rolled up several major nations in a matter of weeks when things were going good.

"Professional soldier." It looks so good on your resume. I have an active German-American Society hereabouts, and have spent the afternoon in bierhalle with an actual real Nazi or two. On the whole, they don't recommend it as a career path.

Critics would say "the state cannot force children away from their parents in the daytime, that's disproportionate use of force," said Rune Lykkeberg, the editor in chief of Dagbladet Information, a left-liberal daily newspaper. "But the Social Democrats say, 'We give people money, and we want something for this money.' This is a system of rights and obligations."

Danes have a high level of trust in the state, including as a central shaper of children's ideology and beliefs, he said. "The Anglo-Saxon conception is that man is free in nature, and then comes the state" constraining that freedom, he said. "Our conception of freedom is the opposite, that man is only free in society."
