Grace Randolph Scoop: Kathleen Kennedy Almost Fired as Head of Lucasfilm... But...

Her video is here.

If you don't want to watch, here's the quick written version:

Disney staged a big "secret" conference call with ranking people in the Star Wars division. Security guards were posted outside the doors at offices to prevent eavesdropping. Pixar and Marvel representatives were able to listen in on the call, but not speak on it. Apparently this was allowed to get feedback, I guess at a later point, about the Star Wars situation.

Disney's head Bob Iger wants to fire Kathleen Kennedy, but there's a problem: No one they're willing to offer the job to is willing to take it. JJ Abrams (Randolph reports) was offered the job, but turned it down flat. "Several" were approached.

One person that's brought up as a possible replacement for Kennedy, Dave Filloni, isn't being considered for the job by Iger, I guess because he hasn't run anything big like a studio.

Randolph says (speculating, I think) that no one wants the job because the Lucasfilm team is divided between old-guard Star Wars people and Kennedy's handpicked loyalists.

I would speculate myself that, assuming this claim that no one wants the job is true, it's because the brand is broken, and people know that, and it's a no-win situation: Everyone seems to think that Star Wars is supposed to make money automatically. That's no longer true post-Solo, but people still think that, so any head of Lucasfilm is in a situation where the best they can do is meet expectations (make money), and the worst they can do is fail spectacularly.

There's no upside. Well, except a huge pile of money, but I imagine the people being approached are already getting huge piles of money from other ventures with more of an upside as far as their reputations.

So no big-name person would want to walk into that situation. Smaller names would take that chance, but apparently Disney hasn't gotten desperate enough to offer it to a smaller name. Yet.

Randolph says that Disney feels that Star Wars is too targeted to "older SJWs," instead of its traditional fan base of men, and this is also hurting Star Wars in its merchandise sales, as "older SJWs" don't really buy movie tickets and certainly don't spend a lot of money on Milennium Falcon playsets.

She also reports that all the Star Wars "anthology" movies are indeed on hold as Disney tries to figure this out, except maybe for one: The Obi-Wan movie, which Disney thinks it should have made instead of Star Wars. However, while this movie is not officially on hold, it's also not on the front-burner, either.

Lastly, while "Episode IX" is still on (it's already started filming), it's "too late for any major course corrections." Kathleen Kennedy has ceded all creative control to director J.J. Abrams, maybe to spare herself further blame, maybe because she wants to just sit this one out, or who knows, maybe because Disney wants the ball in someone else's hands.

One point she alludes to, which she made before: She thinks that Star Wars never appealed to Kathleen Kennedy. Kathleen Kennedy didn't like the franchise, because it was, indeed, a boys' adventure franchise.

Instead of making a boys' adventure franchise she didn't get and didn't like, she made it into something she could like: a girls' empowerment fantasy.

This kind of sums up the problem with Social Justice Warriors taking over male-skewing sections of pop culture: They just don't like it. They never did like it. Some of them even feel that these parts of pop culture encourage "toxic masculinity," and therefore are evil.

And therefore must be subverted and remade into something they never were before.

So you... put multimillion dollar companies into the hands of people who don't like the product those companies sell and in fact might even hate?

Well, good luck with that, I guess.

Doubling Down and Redoubling Down: Apparently an official employee of Lucasfilm, writing for the "official" StarWars.com website, has decided to inform people that they are not "customers" of Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm owes them nothing at all, not even polite treatment.

She seems to be echoing Kathleen Kennedy, who has previously declared that she owes nothing to the male fans of Star Wars (who, let's face it, have maintained the value of the franchise for 40+ years):

"I have a responsibility to the company that I work with. I don't feel that I have a responsibility to cater in some way. I would never just seize on saying, 'Well, this is a franchise that's appealed primarily to men for many, many years, and therefore I owe men something.'"

Yes... yes... reach out with your Hatred... all is proceeding precisely as I envisioned...

Maybe the orders on high from Iger to Kennedy to stay the hell out of creative control MIGHT work... (I'm NOT gonna bet any money on that as said, she already had some SJW's in place.)

46 "So you... put multimillion dollar companies into the hands of people who don't like the product those companies sell and in fact might even hate?"

We have assumed all along that the SJWs assumed that Star Wars would still be profitable, even with the shift to the hard left. But what if that was never the intention? What if the intention all along has been to kill it?

And really, why not? Maybe if you could kill off a boys adventure fantasy, and maybe make a few bucks, or cover costs on the way down, why wouldn't you?

From our perspective, we like things to be rational. If any of us had bought the franchise for $4 billion, we would want it to flourish. But they aren't rational. They hate Star Wars and things like it. Good vs Evil. Lines of demarcation. Violence. Religion. Resolution. They hate these things. Why not mock and degrade them?

Posted by: Dude at June 25, 2018 04:58 PM (RYASC)

47 I don't see a way out of this for Disney. A big step in the right direction would be spacing these movies out a little more rather than throwing a new one at us every year. Even if individual flicks like Last Jedi were chock-full of SJW crap (which they are), I think people would be a little more willing to swallow them if they hit the screens so rarely that you could still treat them like an "event," so that you want to tell yourself it's better than it really was.

The SJW stuff and bad writing would still be potentially fatal problems in the long run, but spacing them out more might generate enough good PR to offset it for a while. But that goes against everything Disney believes in, so no, I don't see that happening.

I'm not even sure of the benefits of not job hopping, but I am very sure that Eisner wouldn't be two thousand miles near to putting out a pro-government, war propaganda poster.

72 How many times can one do Star Wars, whatever iteration, and not get numbingly bored with it?

I saw the first three and was done. Actually, I was pretty bored with it all after Episode V (Empire Strikes Back). I peeked at the remake of Episode IV and, while tolerable, thought, "Yeah, they did this movie already and the original was infinitely better. Because it was new."

Also, the first Star Wars was historic. It was sci-fi that had never been done quite so spectacularly with new visual effects and a compelling story with brand new actors. It was lightning in a bottle. That cannot be duplicated. Not really.

So Star Wars could coast on momentum but the momentum has ended. It's been done. And done. And done. There are other sci-fi and advanced CGI movies that steal share from the novelty that was the original. I don't think it can ever claw back what it once had even if SJWs disappeared tomorrow.

81 Here is my clue for Disney.
Don't make any more Star Wars movies. That idea has saturated and grown stale.

Make adventure movies, space opera, damsel in distress rescued by a white knight hero who hotrods a custom built spaceship that he built in his garage. Don't call it Star Wars and get new, young actors to play the parts. Retire the Cecil B. DeMill cast of ten thousand Jedi Knights who can't hit a bull moose in the butt with a bass fiddle at ten paces.

Make it intense, load it up with emotion. Make the villains villainous and the heroes heroic against all odds.

84 The problem is that Star Wars is pure crap, always was, but for a while everyone pretended to like it to virtue-signs themselves as "nerds" (hey, Star Wars is Sci fi, right?), and now the hyper-commercialism has ended that pretense. Kennedy and her directors haven't done any worse than Lucas would have, there just isn't much you can do with such a silly franchise.

85 Even the best 3 star restaurant dining experience is ruined if the chef burns the dinner and then slathers it with ketchup. And it is seafood.

But the movie was all about the Lefties flawed vision of the future. It wasn't entertainment any more. It was preaching disguised as entertainment.

The public is smarter than this, and responded accordingly.

Everything leaking out of IX sounds like another nostalgia fest. That isn't going to cut it this time. It wasn't going to cut it for VIII. You could remake A New Hope for VII but that was it. Plus JJ is just as much of an SJW as Kennedy.

I mean, seriously? She has hired and fired numerous directors. Part of WHY solo failed is the cost to make it skyrocketed...because they had to re-shoot 75% of the film...because she fired the directors. She has also pissed off the fans to no end.

Fuck - put Ron Howard in charge of it. Solid director, well liked, and experienced with fantasy type franchises. He'd do an outstanding job.

Turns out both of them are based on a long-running French graphic novel/comic book series. But the characters were different in the original -- different from the anime, and TOTALLY different from the Besson version.

Posted by: T at June 25, 2018 04:58 PM (MmeCn)"

I actually don't think spacing them out is the issue. With the dull thud of Solo still resonating, everyone has been so quick to cry Star Wars fatigue. I don't think that's a real thing. If you put out compelling content, fans will lap it up.

I sort of liked Last Jedi first time around, but it bugged me, I've not seen it again since opening night, and in the 6 months since it came out, I feel like I've done a complete 180. They made big mistakes handling the legacy characters, and Rian Johnson, kind of sabotaged the whole trilogy by dumping most of the mysterious story elements that were driving fan buzz since TFA came out. Even if TFA wasn't that great, they set up plot points that were discarded. I'm a little surprised JJ agreed to do this next one.

For what it's worth, I think bringing back the legacy characters was a mistake, and I thought that when they announced the casting. I think they would have been better served skipping a few generations, and picking up and ending the Skywalker saga with distant relatives.

There was a new trilogy to be made with the legacy cast but it needed to be done 20 years ago in place of the expanded universe and while the Actors were younger.

Filloni needs wider creative control of the story group, that's a thing that must happen regardless of who replaces Kennedy.

Not to mention that a remotely controlled space cruiser spinning up the hyperdrive to crash into enemy ships at light speed would pretty much kill anything up to and including the original Death Star. So every ship in the rebel fleet is a potential Death Star Killer.

In other words, the Death Star was obsolete the moment they started building it.

137 Randolph says that Disney feels that Star Wars is too targeted to "older
SJWs," instead of its traditional fan base of men, and this is also
hurting Star Wars in its merchandise sales, as "older SJWs" don't really
buy movie tickets and certainly don't spend a lot of money on Milennium
Falcon playsets.
=================
Disney can solve this easily. If they are targeting the SJW instead of the average male who watched the series for nearly two generations, they just need to change the promotional product mix.

Instead of Falcons, they need to come out with Star Wars asslube and Star Wars ball-shaving kits.

And a new set of matching Princess Leia and Hans Solo dildos.

Lucas's original treatment for Star Wars was turned into a comic series "The Star Wars", one of the last SW comics done by Dark Horse before the Disney acquisition. It would have sucked as a movie, but it made for a really good comic book, and an interesting example of how a movie idea develops from a treatment to the finished product.

158 "The oversaturation argument is bunk."

Sure -- I think it was the piss-poor writing, lack of creativity, and unwillingness to take risks that did them in. They just rehashed the same stories and thought they could do it forever.

But I was pointing out that Disney *does* know how to manage demand.

Luc like many other foreign auteurs doesn't know or isn't interested in plot.

He'd have the 'hero' hang himself in the first 2 minutes of the film and the next 120 minutes would feature a flea circus, NYC squeegee men from the 80's, animated broccoli, and fashion models fighting over a tube of toothpaste.

162 For what it's worth, I think bringing back the legacy characters was a mistake, and I thought that when they announced the casting.

Posted by: Dr. Shatterhand at June 25, 2018 05:07 PM (Hzzxg)

Shoehorning the legacy characters in was the problem because it shrunk the entire universe. Imagine, you have an entire galaxy in full civil world war, and yet the entire story revolves around 1 family. Its dumb. And by using the old characters, it doesn't make sense the rebellion (the Resistance? They were in charge. What were they resisting?) would have faded from memory and been legend. What, everyone forgot what happened... in living memory? It'd be like someone not knowing Vietnam happened.

The big problem with getting this franchise back on track is, sadly, The Last Jedi. It's six months in the wild and you can't "take it back" or just ignore it in continuity. Oooh, you just gave me a great idea:

Make the Obi Wan movie be a remake of the Zatoichi series of samurai movies (the all-time best samurai movies, in my opinion). They are so emotionally satisfying when (inevitably) Zatoichi slices 'n' dices up the baddies with his in-fighting/backhand sword technique -- even though he's blind. The director always sets it up so Zato is bullied and pushed around and yet like a Jedi he knows that he has the ability to obliterate these villains -- he just bides his time until the moment is right.

And then, after murdering about 275 bad guys, he wanders off down the road, tapping his sword like a cane on the ground, for another adventure.

Done in a Star Wars theme, it would be so entertaining -- and custom-designed for endless sequels (as were the original Zatoichis).

This is a problem in all sorts of businesses.

Some one has an idea and manages to make it pay. And then they get a couple more that pay. Now they think they're a genius and anything they do will make money.

This is where the Gods start chuckling to themselves as they prepare for the BIG REVEAL: You were lucky 3 times.

That doesn't make you smart or even lucky just a little lucky. Take the money and run then hire smarter and better people than you to make more money.

The big problem with getting this franchise back on track is, sadly, The Last Jedi. It's six months in the wild and you can't "take it back" or just ignore it in continuity. From a storytelling standpoint, you have to find some way to make those events "work" in the context of Actual Good Star Wars Storytelling. And that's going to mean a shitload of outright ass pulls.

The story tripped over its dick during the prequels because Lucas wanted to hit W with propaganda. He totally screwed up the entire first trilogy (Only a sith deals in absolutes et. cetera). The Last Jedi only furthered the decline.

There are some fun recurring characters. My favorite is Tane.

In the first movie, Tane is the sister of Tate, who offed his girlfriend when she got pregnant. At the end of the movie, Tane is waiting for Zatoichi on the main road, but he wanders off through the hills to avoid her.

A couple of movies later (I'm hazy on this one; been a while since I watched it) he runs into her again. She's going to be married to a carpenter, IIRC. This, naturally, doesn't happen because of the general mayhem that occurs at the climax.

In (I think) the next movie, Tane, now bitter, is married to an abusive man. She schemes with him and with the Yakuza to destroy Zatoichi. She fails, naturally, and winds up getting herself killed.

There's a fourth movie in which Tane is mentioned, but does not appear; it's just one of those whistful "you remind of Tane" thingies.

I doubt there are that many clean directors in Hollywood - at risk even if they were involved peripherally, such as attending an industry friend's wild parties where sketchy stuff happened.

300 I've not heard this addressed before now, although Ace certainly came close to nailing the issue in his write up on this. The fact is the main reason the Star Wars franchise is failing so badly is that Disney completely misread the fan base. Or did so willfully (as in what Kennedy is supposed to have said about not owing anything to the fans).

And that is that the fan base is not just made up of mostly males, but mostly white males. From the very beginning that has been the case. But that is not what the SJW crowd at Disney wanted to hear, so they ended up with Soy Wars, complete with wall to wall grrrrrl power, and the fan base that had kept the franchise afloat all these years stayed home for the most part. And now the whole thing is falling apart.

302 254 Make the Obi Wan movie be a remake of the Zatoichi series of samurai movies (the all-time best samurai movies, in my opinion).

Would this be set in the period between the rise of the Empire and Luke finding Obi Wan on Tatooine, while Obi Wan is on the lam?
Posted by: Grump928(C) at June 25, 2018 05:22 PM (yQpMk)

I said I laid out a basic framework before. Part of the supposed backstory of Luke and Obi Wan on Tattooine is that Obi Wan saved Luke from a Krayt Dragon when he was younger. My idea is you have Obi Wan rejecting the Force, and no longer using it. But he runs into a group of people needing help dealing with Sand People. He agrees reluctantly. They wind up doing something to piss him off and he leaves them to their fate. That's when you have him come across Luke and the Krayt Dragon, and he saves him not realizing who it was until afterwards. Have him get chewed out by Owen for being around the boy, and you end with the him returning to help the other people, and he returns to the Force, etc.

========

I totally agree with her there. There company owes the fans NOTHING. But the comment is kind of stupid insofar as no fan giving a negative comment has argued that Lucasfilm has committed some sort of breach of contract for producing shitty movies.

The problem is that too many movie goers think that they owe Disney their viewership. They think they are somehow obligated to see the next big special effects extravaganza by Disney, even if it will annoy them.

And Disney knows that they will whine but will keep coming back. And that is what emboldens them to take such a contemptuous attitude towards their customers.

EVS is doing very well with Cyberfrog crowdfunding, and says that comic authors keep asking him "How can I go indy like you?" and the most important thing he tells them is "respect your customers".

Again on this, you have George offering something that makes his franchise worse, and he's surrounded by professional yes men like McCallum, that just around and say "wow, George, that's your best idea yet. The fans will love it!"

368 I thought Democrats knew they are supposed to fire up their base, whether it is voters or meme consumers.

Maxine knows to fire up the base by inciting riots ... a Star Wars franchise could inspire their base by making "SJW Hate" analogous to the Evil Empire (that would be easy).
Instead they are going with forcing Luke to kneel and suck, to the globalist/universist powers of the DarkSide. The old Jedi mind trick won't work on their old customers, or even new ones ... which is why they are not 50 points ahead.

445 The frustrating thing of it is, making a good Star Wars movies isn't all that hard. Just go back and watch a few spaghetti westerns and Flash Gordon serials and you're good to go.

Disney's core problem is that its creative team actively hates the product. It permeates everything they do.

I think that's the reason Ace is so worked up about this. Anyone can make a bad movie or goof up a sequel, but Kennedy and her harpy minions did this on purpose. She may get removed from her position because she cost the company money, but her complete and utter failure will carry ZERO social consequences for her. In fact, she'll be a hero to a lot of Hollywood types, who will reward her with some other project.

These people hate us.

451 Eh, there's really nothing that can be done to fix this iteration of Star Wars.

I won't go see the 3rd part of the trilogy at all. Maybe on HBO or something.

So.....what to do? What to do?

If I were Disney, and I'm not, I would do what they do in comic books all the time when they have a spectacular failure.

They just declare the comic not part of the canon universe. It happened in an alternative dimension or universe 37 or whatever,

and immediately reboot the 3rd trilogy - starting completely fresh and find someone who likes Star Wars to run the damn thing.

I'm available, Disney.

Oh, and if you go this direction, severely cut the budget for Episode IX of this iteration.

Like down to 1950s SF movie level - I might actually go see that for the laffs.

And use the savings for the rebooted third trilogy.

You're welcome.

Remember, she got the Oscar for film editing. He got nothing.

And yes, she was a huge part of the team. Didn't they meet in film school?

I think a lot of the "special edition" edits that he did were specifically to undo what she did and prove that his version would still have been a success.

And the prequels pretty much proved that on his own, he kinda sucked.

532 502 I still predict that, at some point, it will be revealed that Chewie is a female.

Quite true. Their species naturally evolves from male to female. In old age they resemble, and could be played by, menopausal wookies such as Janet Reno, Bella Abzug, Hitlery.

Posted by: In Vino Veritits at June 25, 2018 06:05 PM (UFLLM)

533 I just find the "SJW moments" annoying and distracting. There was a scene in Star Trek: Beyond where Kirk & company restore the USS Franklin to operation, and the bald female alien steals Kirk's captain seat.

It has nothing to do with the story. It serves only as a didactic illustration of an SJW principle: that there can be no camaraderie, respect, or teamwork when a man and woman are involved. The female has an obligation to womanhood to show resentment and try to upstage the male.

As such it's annoying and throws you out of the movie. It's the equivalent of "drink your Ovaltine". I don't want to watch a series of didactic illustrations. But that is the priority for these people.

There is this planet that is green and there are giant cows that eat all of the green. The giant cows ooze out white paste... we could call this paste Elmers. The whole universe is addicted to this magic paste. The catch phrase is "The Paste Must Flow."

20 years later, that line being put to paper could end a writer's career.

565 Disney's head Bob Iger wants to fire Kathleen Kennedy, but there's a problem: No one they're willing to offer the job to is willing to take it.

I'd lay money they give the job to Barky. He's a big TV exec, now, so he knows everything one can know about show business and entertainment. He couldn't do any worse with the Star Wars crap and he's got an in with the whole low IQ crowd.

I cite the appalling lack of creativity in entertainment to be a direct result of the Long March wherein students are no longer exposed to the literary classics (or even centuries-old children's tales for all I know). I started to notice it back in the '80's and it's gotten way worse since then. The gentleman accidently bumped sain young man's car when backing. The young man, having been chased down by Sam's Club employees, had returned to his car to witness this bump and started cursing and insulting the gentleman. The gentleman, moved his car forward and then reversed and proceeded to give the bastard's car a good smack! The bastard began an even greater tirade... Smack again! The youth then smartened up. Insurance information was exchanged.. gentleman proceeded to say "Sorry, my foot slipped!" as we all looked on. 598 Star Wars, by the way, is dead. Dead as a doornail. There is no way to recapture the magic of the original 98.9% of the trilogy (yes some of the original trilogy was crap. Sorry ~ Ewoks? ~ please. Endor was supposed to be the Wookie home world. Close your eyes and imagine how cool that would have been. Lucas changed it so sell cuddly toys ~ also think of how much more sense it would have made ~ but I digress).

First: Lucas took a huge dump on it with episodes 1 through 3. Then Kennedy went full SJW 'woke" and killed the rest. Kids, particularly young boys, have no interest. (Why would they? The men are made out to be ridiculous fools with mild mental retardation). And don't get me started on Anakin Skywalker. Ahem? THIS is the role model centerpiece of three movies.

Just like the NFL ~ it is over. People will start spending their hard earned $ somewhere else. The the current generation has moved on to Fast Nad Furious or some other brain dead franchise that is more masculine and "splodey." What are they up to? Fast and Furious x 10 to the 23rd power or something?

Good riddance to Star Wars ~ I am sick of having to at least check in on the franchise to see how it's going, only to be horrified at its weapons grade stupidity and awfulness.

But I shall always muse about what might have been. Endor, the Wookie World that should have been but never was.

599 To me the most unforgivable thing they did was turn Luke coward who considered murdering his nephew as a child. Pretty much guts the entire star wars universe and the previous story. But I get it KK had to destroy all of the positive male characters to make room for not nearly as likeable female characters.

Posted by: Drew in MO at June 25, 2018 06:22 PM (cGlgB)

600 Actually, I'd say that Star Wars is an example of Sci Fi being part of a decline in male readers.

Go to the few book stores that exist and they've put fantasy with the Sci Fi cause there isn't enough new stuff to justify the space otherwise.

It's no wonder boys are going nuts. No books, no heroes, no day dreams, no play as all the characters are female or worse.

And the writing themselves is generally weak and mostly terrible.

But boy the got their way and took over the genre. Thus destroying another mode of imagination and speculation on the part of males and females.

It's terrible what has happened and I see no cure.

What do the kids of today have to replace any of that?

I'm resisting making a smart ass crack cause it really is pitiful and it happened almost overnight. 15 years tops.

601 Late entry, and kinda OT, but not entirely: Disney's management problems remind me of traffic engineering's problems. Traffic engineering USED to be about facilitating the smooth, efficient flow of traffic.

Then asshole SJWs took over the thought on the subject, and now we have bicycle lanes with cobwebs on them in place of one of the traffic lanes, we're get traffic roundabouts, streets blocked off, etc., all in the name of "traffic calming."

Guys - and here I mean Disney, the NFL, traffic engineers, etc. - stick to your knitting. It's not your job to make us "better," as you see it.

604 Hand it over to David Lynch or David Fincher or The Nolan Brothers. Give them anything they want and all final decision making with Lucas Films. These are the only people in Hollywood who could turn the ship around.

610 The inherent problem with what they have done with the Star Wars story is they have tried to take a traditional male hero's journey story and simply insert a female.

Properly understood, there is no female hero journey story in western or for that matter eastern culture.

There are female stories to tell but this ain't it.

Plus from the first two films, the hero has had zero story arc or journey.

Posted by: Kreplach at June 25, 2018 06:31 PM (UfMVm)

611 This actually would not be terribly hard to fix but the dilemma is still there: if you make money, then all you're doing is what the studio expected and is reasonable. If you fail, then you killed Star Wars.

However if the next Star Wars film bombs (which I wouldn't be surprised to see) Abrams is in serious danger with his career and then its a good opportunity to walk in and save the franchise, because if you bring it back to profitability after the decline in profits and two failures, then you look like a hero.

But the fix is obvious: you keep the core movies as fun popcorn space opera stuff, playing up the gee whiz kids enjoyment part. Then with the other films you do different genres: horror, war movies, espionage, romance, comedy, etc.

They need to hire John Goddamned Milius and do it right. Have Clint Eastwood direct, and get the Rock involved.

But no, they will continue with their stupid ways, with characters no one knows because they killed off all the ones we DID know.

Unreal the stupidity.

615 I don't want to come on here and say "I could not care less about any of this," as is the fashion, because obviously, if you cared less, you'd spend your time in the garden.

But hey, I used to go to the midnight underground movies and they would run an episode of Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon for camp value. Those movies were made, what, from the mid-30's to the late 40's? A golden age of 10, 12 years, and then they were gone for 20 years, and then that was fun in the mid-to-late 60's, and then that was over.

Couple years go by, this clever young guy says, let's light those up again, could be fun, and in a way it was.
That was FORTY fucking YEARS ago people. Longer than the whole arc of creation, desolation, re-appreciation, re-creation...

Doesn't anyone ANYONE have any new damn ideas? I am BORED with the whole Galaxy long long ago. Because, Dude, long long ago!

If you're still hanging on the next episode of your favorite childhood epic, and they have been coming out at regular intervals since you were 13 and you are 50 damn years old, there is Something.Wrong.In.Your.Pants.

626 My Grandson at Thirteen sums it up nicely.
He didn't go see Han Solo because he saw the movie before that one.
He said upon asking him if he wanted to go see Han Solo with a laugh and a NO.
The Sixteen year old just laughed his A off.
The Youngest said, "Disney deliberately killed the Star War's franchise" and I informed him Disney wasn't and isn't making a movie so much as making an excuse to replace Pirates of the Caribbean theme parks with Star Wars themes. He will never go to Disney parks because it is too expensive for nothing. he could get a new phone, laptop and Dirt bike instead.
Kennedy wasn't so much making a movie to entertain as she was simply bitching and whining about her Social Justice agenda.
Star Wars is dead, the next movie about Obi Wan or Lando's Pan sexual adventures will be even worse received.
