Cruz's bill is a damn good bill. Addresses the issues without giving anything away. It'll be interesting to see how people on the right criticize it once Trump comes out and endorses it, which I believe he will. After Cruz shows he's got enough support in the Senate for it.

Here in the Bay Area, we have a petting zoo in one of the local regional parks. Goats, pigs, ducks, sheep, etc Several years ago, one night, one of the pigs had disappeared when the staff returned the next morning.

A week later, another pig disappeared.

So the following week the park police staked out the petting zoo (which really had no security at all -- the animals were just kept in corrals, with no fence or gate or anything). And they caught the perpetrators red-handed in the middle of their third heist. Turned out it was a Hmong family, who were just casually taking the pigs one by one and then roasting them whole on a spit in their backyard.

They claimed "cultural ignorance" and that the thought the animals at the petting zoo were there to be eaten, so why not just eat them?

I forget the outcome of the case, but I think the Hmong family was let off scot-free, while the park staff had to take cultural sensitivity training.
