The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"So ace pointed out a couple of days ago that Trump was tweeting about Slappy Schneiderman back in 2013. If Trump knew, then everybody in NY's upper echelons knew. This includes everyone in business, every politician, and every single media fathead on their high horses lecturing Flyover America about sexual harassment, male privilege and misogyny. They knew about it, and did nothing. I'm looking at you, Lester Holt, you slimy c████ks████ker. F████k you. You knew. And you, Jim Acosta. You knew. So you can shove a flaming yule log up your a████ sideways. And you, Matt Lauer, you knew. Of course, you were helping yourself to the goodies, too, just like your pal Scumbag Schneiderman. So f████k you, too. Oh, and Rachel Maddow, you smelly old t████t, you knew, didn't you? And you decided not to tell anyone for political reasons, right? Scummy Schneiderman mouthed all the correct progressive pieties, so you just gave him a pass, didn't you? So you and professional b██t-boy Anderson Cooper, who also knew and didn't tell anyone, everyone else who looked the other way, and whose silence facilitated further abuse, should be bent over barrels and f████ked good and hard by the thrice-barbed c████k of Satan. You deserve nothing except absolute contempt. F████k you all."

(h/t Warden, baldilocks, and Chris Taylor)

And to cap it all off, the good guy in this whole sordid mess, the reporter most responsible for airing out this dirty Dem laundry, appears to be MSNBC back-bencher Ronan Farrow. How weird is that?

Went to work for Jesse Jackson's race-hustling shop after his pardon. Then, got convicted for tax evasion.

Now, he's been sentenced to six months in prison. And he is so mad he's going to leave America and move to South Africa.

Maybe the Government will confiscate a farm for him.

Not defending Schnederdouche. just an observation.

The barbarians are us. There are certainly outside forces pushing the buttons to increase civil strife, but the willing useful idiots are the cause.

Something I wrote elsewhere in re The Surprisingly Solid Mathematical Case for the Tin Foil Hat Gun Prepper.

One thing which should be apparent, however, is that long-term stable societies are not the natural order, throughout human existence. It is arrogant to think that we are somehow an exception to the rule. And it highlights the wisdom of the founders that have provided such a stabilizing framework.

That is why it is such folly to speak about the Constitution as outmoded, why it is contemptibly stupid to cast aside rule of law for partisan benefit, why it is conceitedly juvenile to embrace change without first understanding the whys (Chesterton's fence), and why no platforming and other attacks on the First Amendment is playing with fire.

Yes, I think it is mid 19th century America, but with external forces pushing buttons, with willing accomplices in our ranks (dems, MSM, colleges, etc.).

153 Remember, the whole spy on Trump, mole, wiretap thing has to also be viewed in context of what Hillary and MSM were saying back in the fall of 2016.

It was imperative that they corner Trump and anyone else regarding "accepting" the election results. That was a tell for what was going on. The Russia Russia Russia thing was ultimately an excuse to cover up after the fact. But it was important at that time to box Trump into accepting the election results.

If people think this is slow walking now. Imagine if Hillary had won and we were trying to get info. That's why it was important and a very large pushback occurred when Trump was saying the election was rigged. It had to be nipped in the bud at that point so NO questioning could possibly be tolerated regarding the results at this point in time.

Thanks for the interesting thoughts. I have always been interested in how history repeats, not specifically, but in generalizations, and have been trying to determine where we stand.

I've always thought that the later half of the 20th century was a major anomaly in human history. too much peace enforced by 2 "rulers" so to speak.

now that one is gone, and one has been undermined some, the rest of the world wants to settle old scores.

Exactly which barbarians were "invited in?" Off-hand the Anglo-Saxons are the only one that could be said to have been invited, and that assumes that 1) Gildas is accurate and 2) hiring a bunch of mercenaries counts as inviting a whole people-group in.

The Visigoths were allowed into the Empire as unarmed refugees, and were promptly maltreated to the point of revolt, which they then proceeded to win.

182 It was imperative that they corner Trump and anyone
else regarding "accepting" the election results. That was a tell for
what was going on. The Russia Russia Russia thing was ultimately an
excuse to cover up after the fact. But it was important at that time to
box Trump into accepting the election results.

If people think
this is slow walking now. Imagine if Hillary had won and we were trying
to get info. That's why it was important and a very large pushback
occurred when Trump was saying the election was rigged. It had to be
nipped in the bud at that point so NO questioning could possibly be
tolerated regarding the results at this point in time.

I've seen a series on the end of the Roman Empire done from the viewpoint of the Barbarians, just detailing all of the stupid idiotic shit the Romans kept trying to pull on them. The late period Romans come off a whole lot like the class running California today.

One particularly big blowup happened when the Romans let a group of Goths in who had promised to help defend the border against the huns, but then immediately moved to confiscate all of their weapons and let corrupt officials sell off all the food they were supposed to be given. Rebellion was obvious, the Goths laid waste to the countryside, but then told the Eastern Emperor they'd make peace if he just stuck to the terms of the original deal. Instead, he attacked them and got wiped out along with most of the Roman forces in the east, which REALLY opened up the door to anyone who wanted to come in.

It makes me think of how Jerry Brown would have acted if he was in charge of an army. And the results he'd get.

Don't get me wrong. I like Pence. He's a good man. But:

1.When he was governor of Indiana, the state legislature passed an RFRA (Religious Freedom Restoration Act) to head off the "bake me a cake, bigot" lawsuits.

2. Governor Pence signed the bill

3. The gay activists screamed and yelled and ran around with their hair on fire

4. The state legislature passed a modified version of the RFRA, which pretty much gutted it.

5. Pence signed it.

6. #3 did not cease

7. And now Pence's allies were mad at him, too.

So, to sum up, Pence mismanaged the situation and when push came to shove, he caved in to the howling mob. So despite his good qualities, I don't think he's got the stomach for a fight.

And right now, we need fighters.

264 Exactly which barbarians were "invited in?" Off-hand the Anglo-Saxons are the only one that could be said to have been invited, and that assumes that 1) Gildas is accurate and 2) hiring a bunch of mercenaries counts as inviting a whole people-group in.

The Visigoths were allowed into the Empire as unarmed refugees, and were promptly maltreated to the point of revolt, which they then proceeded to win.

265 To even reference watergate within the context of the The breataking corruption and criminality that we are seeing in this attempted coup detatis to minimize it.

In the first place, Watergate was the fantasies of a worthless bitter fuck, Mark Felt, who was instrumental in not being able to convict Bill Ayers because of his ineptitude and should've been fired from the FBI, but kept harboring delusions that he should've replaced Hoover (seeing Mueller and Comey were probably some of his tortures in Hell). So he jobbed those two stooges, Woodward and fat fuck Bernstein, with lies and half truths that those dumbfucks swallowed like a couple dense carnie marks.

Second, even if it was all true, it was what LBJ would do on a slow morning.

Obvious answer is Carter Page, which also fits with the earlier denial that Carter Page was the source of the FBI spying, and when Papadopolous was introduced into the story. 267 Back to the Romans - some historians have pointed out that the Western Empire fell for good when most of the towns and villages in it decided it was a lot easier to live under Barbarian rule than it was to continue putting up with the bureaucratic and overcontrolling hell that was the Late Roman Administrative State.

Posted by: Tom Servo at May 11, 2018 12:07 PM (k1TUh)

268 I've seen a series on the end of the Roman Empire done from the viewpoint of the Barbarians, just detailing all of the stupid idiotic shit the Romans kept trying to pull on them.

I've always been pretty sympathetic to the "barbarians," particularly the Visigoths. the Romans could be real jerks while acting incredibly pompous about their own superiority (I'm looking at you, Ammianus Marcellinus!)

As you say, the barbarians were used as mercs - one of the biggest problems of the late Roman period was that they could no longer find nearly enough citizens willing to be in their armies - life on the dole, the Bread and Circuses, and all the actual work done by an army of slaves left the actual Romans remaining contemptuous of doing anything so grubby and low class as serving in the army.

While members of the barbarian tribes were naturally good fighters, and were happy to be paid to be part of it, and had been told that Citizenship and it's benefits were part of the deal.

that's why it's not really accurate to compare Rome's late stage to collapse with our position - it would only be comparable if, for the last 100 years, the US Army had been run by Mexican officers and consisted almost completely of highly trained and well armed mexican troops. That's how far gone the Romans were at the end.

Pence was never on my radar for the presidency although he seemed like a good man. I do think he did candidate Trump a world of good by joining the team. He added a lot of GOP legitimacy to the ticket.

I have no specific knowledge on this but my guess is Pence has learned some lessons over the last year and a half. I bet he is less willing to back down now. That is just an assumption.

297 I'm not an expert on the Romans, but what you listed is pretty much my thinking. the barbarians as mercs, no attempt to assimilate them as was done with prior conquests, that sort of thing.

Don't think that is true, actually. The Roman assimilation model (which was more economic than cultural, BTW) broke down when they lost a war. People forget that part, I suspect because the Romans really didn't want to admit that they had lost (Officially, the Romans never lost a war since about 300-something. It was part of their self___ as Romans, even if "winning" meant declaring victory and advancing backwards towards home.), and people don't read the Roman accounts very critically as a rule. That includes many historians, IMHO.

Probably a new history. Had the roman empire existed in modern times it probably would have died sooner. They at least had the benefits of natural selection, as in the libs would die off way sooner due to their stupidity. In the modern world we have ways to keep them alive. They also had this fetish with crucifying traitors to the empire. In modern times they get news shows and teaching jobs at universities.

328 that's why it's not really accurate to compare Rome's late stage to collapse with our position - it would only be comparable if, for the last 100 years, the US Army had been run by Mexican officers and consisted almost completely of highly trained and well armed mexican troops. That's how far gone the Romans were at the end.

Well, part of the problem is that theory is the definition of "Roman." The majority of the troops were coming from the provinces, Gaul in particular, but they were officially Roman citizens and had been subjects of the Empire for hundreds of years, even if they were looked down on by some of the elites. Lots of outsiders did come into the Army, though. Curiously, some of the most ferocious defenders of the old Roman way of life were in fact born in Germania, so they were integrating.

The collapse of the Roman Empire defies any simple explanation, really. Multiple systematic issues combined with some really bad decisions and just plain bad luck at certain critical junctures. Richard Fernandez theory of societal "reserves" is a really good way of looking at things, I think.

329 Re: the teen vogue article - it seems a summary of a New Republic article to which it links: https://tinyurl.com/y8gz5du9

It spends 99% going on and on about the plight of the descendants of slaves, Cambodians and Native Americans and all of the "trauma" they've suffered. The details about the studies that lead them to believe trauma can be passed down are non-existent or confused at best. There are no links to the actual studies themselves.

For example, when I read:

But, Yehuda argues, paternal transmission is more clear-cut. She believes that her findings on fathers suggest that PTSD may leave its mark through epigenetic changes to sperm.

I wonder, why does she believe that? Did she examine cases where a man's sperm is collected, and afterwards he has a traumatic experience and then a second sample is collected so that a comparison can be made? The article doesn't say.

It stresses how much more likely the children of PTSD sufferers are more likely to have mental disorders, but it doesn't say exactly *what* experiment(s) lead the people pushing this to think that it had anything to do with a genetic change. Did they study what would happen, if say an infant of a PTSD sufferer were given up for adoption, and did not know his family history, would he be more likely to suffer from PTSD? Again, no details.

337 Re: Bill Clinton in jogging shorts

So I have a story... It was the summer of 94 and I was on my way to a private tour of the White House on my last morning in DC after a month of working for Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ). I had already changed my major to art, but since I had gotten the internship I decided to do it - for fun (hence, only a month since it was unpaid). Also I had a huge crush on a guy who was into government and he was going to be in DC (eyeroll).

I was living at GWUniversity, so I approached the White House from the backside lawn, near the driveway. I was half out of it, but I remember suddenly it seemed like no one was around except for guys with short shorts and bugs in their ears. I stop to wait for two ladies taking a picture with some guy and he turns around... oh, look at that it's the President. I was right there so he turned around and we shook hands. Looking back, it was during the summer of Monica, and I am quite sure he was checking me out. The whole thing kind of sleeves me out now that I think about it, but I was a staunch R even at that young age (19) so I wasn't all that impressed.

No camera or anything so I don't have any pictures. He was on his way back into the White House after a jog, and wearing short shorts.

HA! I had totally forgotten about this, too funny.

369 The New Republic article is unclear about the cortisol theory, that low cortisol makes one susceptible to PTSD. The scientist says that people with PTSD produce less cortisol, and this seemed to be passed on to their children. But it doesn't say if they had less cortisol *before* suffering from PTSD. Maybe genetically determined cortisol production was the cause of the PTSD, and thus the reason the kids produce less is not because their parents' PTSD resulted in altering the parents' genes after the trauma.

379 OK, the diaper thing is ridiculous, but I will say, I actually do think it's important to (barring situations of safety) not just randomly scoop a kid up with no warning. Littles (like 2yos) have no privacy and no control over their environment. They are at the mercy of all the big people around them. So I do make a point of putting my hands out, then waiting until my kid raises his arms before I pick him up. (Again, barring cases of safety) The message is that he doesn't always have to just go along with whatever a bigger person wants to do to him. (Yes, yes, there are many times when he does. Such as diaper changes.)

The electorate is still figuring this out.... as more masks are dropped daily.

The question becomes, when will the Electorate wake up and see they have been sold down the river, for generations... by BOTH major parties.

But Caesar set it in motion by becoming dictator--and providing the opposition with a way to subvert that idea--assassination. This was constantly replayed until the end.
