Some cultures just tip less than others. Its really American to tip, not so much other places. Some people are offended at the idea of tipping.

Unfortunately, my brother has said (and wait staff I've known confirms) that the worst tippers are Christians after church, particularly in groups. I guess they figure they already tithed.

And Canadian Money: under Stephen Harper, the Canadian Dollar was actually worth more than the US during the Obama economy. I think that's the first time, ever.

Yeah there are specific things but I was thinking as an overall package. Canada is generally cleaner and more polite than America, friendlier. And they don't have the inner city problems like America does. Plus their natural beauty is nearly unmatched in the world. Well, the real problem is this: Socialists, being the arrogant knowitall pricks that they are, think they can tax people 50-60-70% or so to baby people with lots and lots of goodies with NO change to people's behavior. What they can't figure out is something we all know: kids are expensive. (I just have a nephew and niece - no kids of my own - and even I know kids are expensive!) So, people cut back on all sorts of expenses when the government is legally stealing money from people. And as such, they have fewer kids.

But the Socialists all depend on every family having 3-4 kids as if nothing's changed; they are the future taxpayers for the Nanny State after all. So, when they wind up with people having so few kids that their populations are declining - and therefore future taxpayers with heavier burdens - the Socialists don't dare to look at the way they are doing things and say to themselves "you know, maybe people would be better off if they paid for all these government goodies all by themselves." Hell no. Instead, they begin to import populations because they desperately need taxpayers to fund their Nanny States. Which wouldn't be so bad if they were at least somewhat compatible. But no, the Socialists all go for people from societies with radically different worldviews and cultures and can't figure out why they are having such a rough time integrating into their new society.

Free trade doesn't even exist among the freaking provinces. Trade between TX and (pick a province or territory) is probably freer than, say, between AB and BC.

To be fair, I have been to 8 Canadian provinces (and one territory). I love visiting Canada; I have always had a good time there. But let's not kid ourselves. As tcn in AK accurately points out, it falls short in the freedom department. I would go further and say that Canada is NOT a free country. Fine, hold your elections and cling to that illusion. But that alone isn't enough. The Canadian and provincial governments do not recognize the rights and freedoms of individuals, and to paraphrase a line from the TX Declaration of Independence, the Canadian people cheerfully acquiesce in the destruction of their liberty.
