I wonder what Chad's up to? ![]() Moron Material 12-year-old boy steals family credit card to book Bali vacation after fight with his mom The headline doesn't tell the half of it. Not only did he book his flight, he damn well went. He researched which airlines allow unaccompanied minors to fly, booked his ticket and hotel. He then told his parents he was going to school, instead he went to the airport and took the 7 hour flight to Bali all by himself. When he landed in Bali, the resourceful pre-teen rented a Go Jek bike at the airport to get himself to the All Seasons hotel, where he told staff he was meeting his older sister, but had arrived early and was checking inIt didn't last. His mother came and got him, and if it was my kid he wouldn't sit for a month, but since it's not, well....this kid's going places. Your Government at Work Well, your government if you live in Chicago anyway. Chicago Is Trying to Pay Down Its Debt by Impounding Innocent People’s Cars Read the article, it's disgusting. Mark my words, this is what's going to do this country in. It's not the tax rate alone (add up federal, state, local taxes, fees, fines and crap like this. If you're not paying 50% of your income to the government you're in the minority). It's not just that officials have forgotten that they work for us, we don't exist to be cash cows for them, although that's bad enough. It's not just that they privilege illegals over citizens, although that's worse (California is seething over just this, read almost anything Victor David Hanson writes. Law enforcement ignoring the violations of illegals and seeking out legal residents, just to milk them for cash). No, it's when the people as a whole stop viewing government as a necessary (and maybe even occasionally useful) evil and start seeing them as an unprincipled kleptocracy....that's where the third world starts, my friends. High trust societies are rare, historically speaking, and when they go, it's not easy to get them back. Counterpoint: Trump saves millions of working-class families from Obamacare penalty The John Roberts tax doesn't go away until next year, but Trump just vastly expanded the exemptions available. Well since Dave mentioned it:
ince today is nfl draft day ( not that I give a rat's ass) but it is a good time to recognize former United States Naval Academy quarterback Roger Staubach He won the 1963 Heisman Trophy and was then drafted as the 129th overall pick of the 1964 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He began playing professional football in 1968 after serving a four-year military commitment in the #USNavy as a supply officer, ultimately attaining the rank of lieutenant. He did not try to get out of his commitment to the US Navy. Re the recognizing drowning link:
Years ago at a pool party I attended, there were about 50 adults surrounding the pool chatting and maybe 5 or 6 little kids in the shallow end. I sort of had my eye on the kids and two of the little guys slowly drifted into the deep end and simply, quickly and quietly, went under. No fuss, splashing or yelling. I started to head toward them but one of the mothers beat me to them and dove it to retrieve them both. No real harm done to either of them but it scared the hell out of everyone. The kids were under in an instant and did it quietly. You could stand right next to it and never realize what was happening. Posted by: Tonypete at April 26, 2018 10:05 PM (9rIkM) 33

Customer Service ProTip:
When you want/need customer service, don't curse at the agent. One would *think* that this is obvious, but today a former *customer* called asking/yelling/complaining about an older long term care policy. But he didn't make that clear to the receptionist, who transferred the "gentleman" to an auto/home CSR, who he began to berate and curse. She tried valiantly to ascertain what he needed, and finally understood that it was about his LTCi plan. She told him that he needed to talk to me, but that she wouldn't transfer him until he'd calmed down. He continued to curse at her, so she hung up, and then buzzed me with a heads' up. Sure enough, this rocket surgeon called back, and demanded to talk with me. I had already decided how to handle him. He immediately started in, insulting the CSR. I told him that I didn't appreciate his cursing my colleague, and that I would give him the phone number he needed and then I expected never to hear from him again. At which point he very deliberately said "f*ck you" and hung up. Without getting the information he needed. Genius! I have decided that if he calls back, he will be subject to my (just made up and completely arbitrary) $100 consulting fee, payable in cash, in advance. Hope he calls..... Actually, I guess that's not 100% true. I sort of hope they ended up drafting some asshole with political views that make Mumia Abu Jamal look like some sort of inoffensive moderate "nice guy". Let us regular Americans know how much you really hate us, Broncos. You sort of did already, keeping Brandon Marshall (the Grover Dill to Colin Crappernick's Scott Farkus) while trading away dedicated non-kneeler Aqib Talib. Just make it official, Broncos! they were invariably ensconced in a room with numeri relatives, especially if they were female, and the smell? worse than a sealed up 113 with grunts who haven't had a shower or change of clothes in 12 days of 120*+ weather. one day i'm down in the main, doing my thing there, when the call came from the floor: "How much Kwell do you have on hand, and how soon can you get more?" answer, not much, but we can get gallons tomorrow morning. seems that the coven was an infectious reservoir, that staff had managed to become carriers, and had thus infected other patients on the floor, other cow-orkers, etc... it was ugly. i'd been in the room, but, being American, male, etc, they had kept their distance and i mine, so i was clean. others were NOT so lucky. i LOL'd. because asshole. rumor that Alabama is considering taking steps to deal with its current problems of overcrowded prisons.
Some officials wanted to increase the number of paroles and also cut the sentences of non-violent offenders, but there was push back because they didn't want to be seen as soft on crime. Then they came up with what seemed a fool-proof solution. They contracted out all prisoner health care to the NHS. BTW, Obama's FBI pulled some of the same political hanky-panky with Charlotte's mayor Patrick Cannon. They knew in July of 2013 that Cannon was going to be indicted, but held up until after the election in November. Why? If Cannon was busted, the Republican would be a shoo-in. To be a hero, one has to spontaneously go and put oneself in some degree of risk to save another person, even if that risk is nominally part of the job. (FDNY, q.v.) These truckers were basically deputized by the highway patrol, and the cops cleared traffic on the blocked freeway so they could take up positions under the bridge. Public-spirited? Sure, and the would-be swan diver should be grateful they were there. Heroes? If you had to give up one for the rest of your life, which would you choose?: (1) Tacos (2) Pizza (3) Burgers (4) Fries I put down, fries of course. It's the only one I could even come close to living without. Posted by: qdpsteve at April 26, 2018 10:14 PM (eMKNe) I'd have to pick fries, too, even though I love potatoes in all their myriad forms. But they are heavy in carbs, so the other three choices are healthier. Actually, for the first three, if you're serious about reducing carbs, you'll eat the meat, cheese, and toppings, and throw away the bread. Posted by: rickl at April 26, 2018 11:36 PM (sdi6R) 392

111 Jewells -- I've been doing craft shows for thirty years, first selling Himself's rocks with sand blasted designs, then my own jewelry. I think I've told you before that I consider a show that I make back the cost of my table/space plus lunch a successful show. I don't know about your area of the country, but the most common phrases I heard was "I can do that myself" followed by "You want more than a quarter for that?" Lady, that rock you want for nothing was sand blasted by a guy with fifty years of experience whose mundane job is making tombstones. Go to a monument company and see how much they would charge you for the same item. And, yes, I want more than a quarter for that maile bracelet. The jump rings alone cost me more than that, not to mention the expensive specialty jewellers pliers I use, and the time it took me to learn how to weave maile properly.
I'm done with the whole thing now. The last show I did was last Mother's Day weekend. A friend and I split the cost of a space at a local RenFaire. We got screwed on the space we got since about half of it was unusable for one reason or another. It was in a crappy spot and the entire weekend was hotter than the hinges of Hell. Thank heavens for summer garb; otherwise I would have died because there was no shade to speak of. Sales sucked because it was the second weekend of this particular RenFaire, and a slimy snake had put on a RenFaire the weekend just prior to the first weekend of ours, so what few attendees there were were RenFaired out and had already spent their money. I decided that was the very last show I was ever going to do. Any more, my friend takes some of my stuff to fill out her table, and a couple of times pieces have actually sold. Any more, I think it's the professional show promoters who do major advertising who are successful. Those are the shows with a couple hundred venders. And the vendors at those shows pretty much mass produce their items. The day of the profitable high school, church, and shopping mall shows are over. Those have been taken over by the Watkins people and their like. Best of luck to you. It's a brutal business these days. If you had to give up one for the rest of your life, which would you choose?:
(1) Tacos (2) Pizza (3) Burgers (4) Fries Fries. I don't know when it happened, nor why, but some time ago I just started hating on French fries. If I was having a burger at a non-fast food place, like a diner or a bar, I'd order mashed potatoes. Still do that to this day. Maybe it's that part-Irish side of my Mom trying to assert itself. But whatever the reason, I now loathe French fries. I think of French fries as the answer to the question: How do you ruin a perfectly good baked potato? Representatives at 23andMe and some other gene testing services denied on Thursday that they had been involved in identifying the killer.
The big players in commercial DNA testing - including 23andMe and AncestryDNA - extract genetic profiles from the saliva that customers send to the company in a tube by mail. It would not be easy for law enforcement to upload a profile to one of those sites. Over the past few years, numerous smaller genealogical websites have emerged, however, giving customers more avenues to upload a DNA profile and search for relatives. I wonder how hard it would be for the cops to get around those restrictions. Heat destroys DNA. So, get some spit, cook the DNA out of it, plug in some of the DNA they had collected, send it in. I have no idea, just speculating, but I'm guessing it could be done. If not in my wild-ass guessing way, then in some other more grounded in science way. The problem with restricting themselves to the smaller databases is there aren't so many people in them to compare against. If they really wanted to use that method, they should be sending in samples to all of them Or maybe, they just have to talk to the feds, since some of them have probably copied all those databases already anyway. The Chicago vehicle impediment article is fascinating. I like how the (D) controlled city has evolved into a sh*thole that is preying on poor people in crime-filled areas, and the answer from the f*cking poor people in their (D) sh*thole-dom is to make the crime-filled areas in their utopias even more crime filled except this time we aren't going to call it crime:
"According to a survey on family finances in the report, 22 percent of respondents with annual incomes under $15,000 reported owing ticket debt to Chicago. Among COFI's recommendations for lightening the debt load on low-income families are limiting driver's license suspensions to traffic violations, rather than non-moving violations; passing legislation to bar local governments from imposing high fees and debt collection procedures on those unable to pay; and conducting studies to ensure that fees and fines don't disproportionately hit low-income and minority residents." That's Leftism -- run one thing after another into the ground then turn around and blame others and extort them to fix it, except that there is no intention to fix it only to run the next exploitable thing into the ground until there is total dissolution to be blamed on the patriarchy, capitalism, racism, etc. which can only be set right by totalitarian state intervention and control.

From the REI link:
REI does not sell guns. We believe that it is the job of companies that manufacture and sell guns and ammunition to work towards common sense solutions that prevent the type of violence that happened in Florida last month. --- I'm sure they mean common sense stuff like local, state, and federal law enforcement doing their f*cking jobs regarding felons with guns who they know are going to shoot up schools. @614 that was the guy in WV I think. Won about $400M was the largest single winner at the time. Started out he built a fellowship hall for his church and took his wife to visit the Holy Land. Fast forward a couple years and he has 900k in cash stolen from his Escalade parked outside the Pink Pony Club, a place where he would regularly drop tens of thousands of dollars in tips.
And then he finds his granddaughter dead in his front yard. Yeah, a sad story Posted by: Rachel Dolezal at April 27, 2018 06:50 AM (jHrzU) 627

"I wonder what the real cost of a roof or drywall job is when you add in the unpaid income taxes, free emergency room medicine, and burden on local schools."
The simple, broad-brush way is to calculate the entire government budget and debt (fed, state, regional, county, local, HOA, NGO, etc.) and divide up among the adult population. There you have the per-person cost for living in a First World country. I bet that the 80/20 rule is in play here. Out of the population, 20% pay for the other 80% to enjoy a thin and deteriorating veneer of civilization. Posted by: The F'ing Blue Bird of Joy at April 27, 2018 07:05 AM (PoZng) 644
Oh, and just watch. Iran will be freed from the mullahs and there will be a Middle East peace, likely with Saudi Arabia formally recognizing Israel.

Local conservative talk radio had Chozick on in the morning, and it was a very soft puffy interview because that is what book interviews are, regardless.
They focused on the things that could be viewed as negative about Hillary, because it's conservative talk radio so of course. For her part, Chozick who says she admires Clinton but that her relationship with her is complicated, defended her for the negative things. Unasked by interviewers, why, if you were a reporter dedicated to covering Hillary Clinton over the past ten years, are we just hearing these things now?
