NYT: ACTING ON MUELLER'S CRIMINAL REFERRAL, FBI RAIDS OFFICES OF TRUMP'S PERSONAL LAWYER MICHAEL COHEN

Gird your loins. This feels like the beginning of the end, one way or the other.The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump's longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen's lawyer, who called the search "completely inappropriate and unnecessary." The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller's investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.Paying someone to keep her mouth shut is not a crime, or else everyone who pays a blackmailer is himself committing a criminal act. Not saying this woman is a blackmailer, but it's not illegal to pay off a blackmailer. The only crime I can imagine is being investigated -- pretextually -- is the claim by this porno actress and admitted liar that a thug approached her and recommended she stay silent about Trump, making a vague threat against her and her child. Is an admitted liar's claim, without any evidence that the thug has anything to do with Michael Cohen, enough for Mueller to generate a criminal referral and for the FBI to secure a warrant? Seems unlikely -- maybe there was evidence of some connection that we're not aware of. Now, unless there is some real proof that Cohen hired a thug to make a threat, I'm thinking this is a pretext -- like Sally Yates' claim that they had to investigate Michael Flynn because of a possible, hypothetical violation of the dead-letter no-longer-a-law Logan Act -- to grab up other information while allegedly investigating a crime. I can't declare this is all a set-up, though. It's hard for me to believe that Mueller would make a criminal referral based only on an admitted liar and fame-chaser's vague word, and I can't believe the FBI would dare to seek a warrant based only on that, and I can't believe a judge would issue a warrant based only on that. But it's not as hard for me to believe as it might have been two years ago.
... The payments to Ms. Clifford are only one of many topics being investigated, according to a person briefed on the search. The F.B.I. also seized emails, tax documents and business records, the person said.

Our courts are broken. The rule of law does not exist. Rules don't either. There is a caste system in place based on race/religion/sex/politics.
On my personal case, my ex is 3 years late on discovery, and had multiple extensions and purposely missed gave the finger to all of them (like 6 so the following would not happen) and the judge is allowing the ex to give all discovery directly to the judge without me and my lawyer seeing it first or at all. My ex represents herself now.. So I don't even get a chance to authenticate anything or see his supposedly evidence, the judge made a ruling that it can all go to him. So that's breaking due process, rules of evidence, ex parte hearing, the local rules of the courts and Lord knows what else.

I will never understand how or why Trump and his legal team responded to Stormy Daniels the way they did. They should have ignored her. Well how far is it to them going after *me* for daring to make a modest campaign contribution to Trump? Doesn't seem very far to me and I'm ready to make a sign and stand in a picket line on a general strike until congress goes after these nazi wannabes.

Of all people, Cohen is not rolling over on Trump. He's been his personal lawyer for years, his only client, and that is going nowhere.
I remember hearing when Manafort was indicted that he would roll on Trump. Now it looks as if Manafort is getting ready to sue Mueller.
Mueller has never had anything because there never was anything. Strzok even admitted that in his texts and he knows because he was part of the team that made the entire Russian collusion crap up. The only way they are getting Trump is on some process crime like perjury over some tangential issue like paying off a hooker. Even if that happened, it wouldn't get Trump taken down.

That is completely wrong. You might want to take a look at what Obama and Holder did to all the IGs throughout the Exec branch and who led the fight against him and which resulted in IGs getting their powers back just in time to run this investigation.
It's a pretty enormous scandal all of it's own and Horowitz was one of the heroes of that scandal. He's no fan of Obama and Holder. Not Sally Yates either.

The FISA court only has to do with FISA warrants, and FISA warrants are all about wiretaps of phone calls and email messaging involving American residents communicating with foreign-based residents.
The FBI would never need to conduct a physical search on Cohen's office and home to obtain wiretaps of phone calls and email messages. Both of those types of communications automatically get swept into the NSA storage facilities. FISA warrants allow the feds to search those facilities for communications that have already been swept up and stored.
All you have to do to understand how all this works is read James Bamford's The Shadow Factory, available at between $15 and $18 from Amazon.

He can't fire.... he can only point out wrongdoing.
He can't investigate anyone outside his Agency.
He can't subpoena witnesses... he can only ask to interview if they are outside his Agency.
