CNN is Real News, Mr. President

CNN is immune to the freezing cold because only their hate keeps them warm.

Well, just two things: their hate and their permanent, quivering outrage.

Just three things, then: their hate, their permanent, quivering outrage, and their pink pussy hats.

Okay, just four things keep them warm: Their hate, their permanent, quivering outrage, their pink pussy hats, and rousing recitations of poetry by #SassyJim Acosta.

15 Anyone who mocks "global warming" has my unalloyed support.

Why? Because if the evidence were dispositive, it'd be easy to humiliate the mocker.

The fact that they can only sputter in impotent rage speaks volumes, viz., it's shit unsupported by scientific evidence.

And no, Virginia, computer models are NOT scientific evidence. "Jurassic Park" was made with computer models.

That's like:

What is your point?

If you promote global warming even when people are freezing because there is no such thing, isn't that a worse form of mockery? "Oh stop whining about the cold! This is the warmest year on record, you privileged carbon terrorist!"

Like that Dalrymple quote as to how the purpose of Leftist propaganda is to humiliate you by forcing people to confess something that they know is false.

Trump is trying to throw of the shackles of this idiotic braindamage so that we no longer have to feel guilty about releasing CO2 in order to stay warm. I think it's commendable. The media are the callous ones. Trump should sign an EO to have their heating cut off.

One of the most famous behind the scenes stories about the DVD Show involved Meathead.

Carl let the young teenaged Meathead run around on the set a lot. One time, the horny little bastard just couldn't resist and grabbed Mary Tyler Moore on the ass. Remember those capri pants?

Well, young Meathead just went for it.

Years later, during some cast reunion show, and this around the Meathead's heyday and MTM's during the MTM show, she told ol' Meathead to go for it again.

We had to take a computer simulation class when I was in engineering school back in the early 90s. You had to put correction factors on all calculations or the simulation would get out of control. I bet if the dude who invented global warming were to give up his source code a good simulation programmer could identify the correction factors. These corrections are arbitrarily picked to guide the simulation in the direction you want it to go. You could put in different numbers to get cooling, warming or no change.

Simulations are not science. Also, anyone who puts temperature estimates based on tree ring data on the same graph as numbers taken from modern weather stations deserves to be ridiculed until they go into hiding.

Someone actually tried to do a study or survey a few years back to estimate how many relocating Big Ten state residents moving to LA/SoCal were influenced by watching the Rose Bowl on TV each year. What, no rain in 110 years or something in Pasadena on New Year's? Anyway, between WWII vets passing through and the Rose Bowl, the place attracted a zillion people fleeing winter in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

No, I don't think it's protocol. Harry is just a grandson of the Queen, and that doesn't count as any "real" state affair. I think only the wedding of the actual monarch or heir apparent would actually count. And even then, I don't think it would be protocol for POTUS to attend.

That would be Veep or perhaps the FIrst Lady alone, but I'm not sure.

Note the Obamas weren't invited to William and Kate's wedding. Even though William is second in line, and no future birth can displace him, as a grandson, it still didn't rise to full state wedding thingy.

235 HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities say an intoxicated Dallas woman who was on a first date with a prominent Houston trial lawyer caused at least $300,000 in damage to his art collection, including two Andy Warhol paintings.

Lindy Lou Layman, 29, was arrested Saturday on criminal mischief charges after her date with Anthony Buzbee. She was released on $30,000 bond. Online court records don't list an attorney for her.

Prosecutors say Buzbee, 49, told investigators that Layman got too intoxicated on their date, so he called her an Uber after they returned to his home. Buzbee said Layman refused to leave and hid inside the home, and that when he found her and called a second Uber, she got aggressive.

Authorities said she tore down several paintings and poured red wine on some while yelling obscenities. She also allegedly threw two $20,000 sculptures across the room and shattered them.

The damaged Warhol paintings were each valued at $500,000 in court documents.

242 I bet if the dude who invented global warming were to give up his source code a good simulation programmer could identify the correction factors.

Which is why the global warmers refuse to release their source code.

Or at least among the reasons. The University of East Anglia is a third-tier university, doubtless with grad students to match. And it was the grad students who wrote the code.

Now anyone who has ever dealt with grad students can tell innumerable stories of their laughable stupidity and incompetence, both of which are the stuff of legend. To trust the coding skills of such grad students at a shitty university, students who were not selected for their coding skills, is risible. I absolutely guarantee that their code is shot through with errors.

How do I know this? Because I spent many years vetting the data, analyses, and thought processes of grad students, savaging their logical errors, until finally, by the end of their sojourn in grad school, I couldn't do that anymore, because they'd internalized the edged questions I would ask, and would have addressed them beforehand. In short, by then they'd become competent scientists, as I'd done my job.

The idea of trusting code written by such students, without going through it line by line, is ridiculous.

As an engineer that uses simulations as a part of his job, I have to disagree with you a bit. Simulations can be extremely useful and sometimes that's all you've got because actually conducting the experiment is too impractical.

ALL simulations have limitations and assumptions built-in and you need to make your intended audience aware of those issues. Where we have a problem is that the glow-bull warmening folks are concealing those limitations and assumptions in their models and attacking anyone audacious enough to ask to see the raw data.

Trump probably wouldn't have gone even if invited. Harry's a spare. He's not ever going to be the monarch; he's destined to be a bit player for the rest of his life. He's not important enough to merit having the U.S. president at his wedding.

Heard on the radio that conservatives in Britain were not too happy about Harry's bromance with Obama in that radio program, and they pointed out that if the conservative Brits withdraw their support for the monarchy as an institution, it will cease to exist. Each kid Kate spits out pushed Harry one more notch down the line. And by the time it gets close to William taking it, I'm sure his own kids will have kids of their own, and that will have Harry way, way down.

They changed the succession rules after William and Kate's marriage to do away with the male preference and make it just straight primogeniture.

This means girls are the line according to their birth order. So if William's first kid was a girl, she would be heir apparent on her own.

This would cause some of the other rules to have to be modified a bit too, but they'll cross that bridge when they have to.

Relevant to your post, SpaceX today stood up their Falcon Heavy rocket on the launch pad for the first time.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BdQX8jwHnrc/

This much-anticipated rocket has been delayed for years, in part because they haven't been able to simulate some of the vibration and resonance modes on the computer. (I'm not an engineer; that's how I understand it.)

So it appears that they have no choice but to launch it and see what happens. It will be instrumented out the wazoo. Even Elon Musk has cautioned that the first launch might not be successful.

If it works, it will be the most powerful rocket in the world today. If it fails, hopefully they will gain the data they need to succeed in future launches.

It happens that I know the (now retired) NOAA Director of Data Services (or some such title). Having conducted some running ambient temperature data, I understood that it is not a straightforward a proposition as it might seem.

So, I asked her about a source for their methodology. She placed me in touch with one of their nerdy guys who provided me with the algorithm for temperature recording used by their surface stations.

To my surprise, I found that there is a slight positive bias built in. Tiny, but finite and real. I've mentioned this before, but if I were teaching an introductory programming course, I would deduct a couple of points from a paper submitted using their method, because sloppy.

Simulations don't work? Screw it. Wire it up, let the sucker rip and see what happens. Now you got better initial conditions for your simulation.

Probably cheaper too. I'm betting the balance between the research budget for several years vs. building a big-ass-rocket once probably wound up being the deciding factor.

The British public, according to some poll, would prefer Chuckles to be skipped, and for William and Kate to take it after QEII's expiry.

Camilla, by rights, will be Queen Consort, but they weren't going to call her Queen, or give her "Majesty", cause the public just wouldn't like it. So they were going to come up with something to side step all that.

The monarchy was falling out of favor with all of QEII's kids antics, but they have made a come back. The grandkids are doing much better in the public eye.

Ug... vibrations: my least favorite class in undergrad. Very challenging to predict because it is a dynamic condition and we understand static conditions much better.

We deal with vibrations in our simulations at work by ignoring them. Like I said, all simulations have limitations and vibrations after a destructive event is down the list of concerns.

434 I've suddenly discovered a weather phenomenon that conveniently mandates all my political goals;

limited government instead of world government, lower taxes not carbon taxes, less regulation not more, free enterprise not Soviet Industrial Policy and America keeping her own money not redistributing it worldwide.

Oh--and my attorney generals will prosecute you if you question it.
