Prosecutor Reportedly Helping Mueller Brags of Using Constant Legal Challenges to Trump Administration; Says Federal Government Is the "Biggest Threat... Right Now"

So of course he's on Team Mueller.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who is reportedly assisting special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, boasted of his successful resistance to the Trump administration in a Tuesday Medium post.

Schneiderman, who could play an essential role in the disposition of Mueller’s investigation, has effectively branded as a public anti-Trump litigator during the president's first year, in keeping with the history of hostility between the two men.

Tuesday's Medium post accompanied a profile of Schneiderman in The New York Times, which noted that the AG lodged 100 legal or administrative challenges to administration policies during Trump's first year in office. Such challenges include lawsuits contesting the travel ban and rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, an Obama-era amnesty policy that grants temporary status to illegal immigrants who entered the country as children.

"We try and protect New Yorkers from those who would do them harm," Schneiderman told TheNYT. "The biggest threat to New Yorkers right now is the federal government, so we’re responding to it."

Why, I'm old enough to remember when claiming the federal government was the "biggest threat" was considered Taliban terrorism!

I'm also old enough to remember when dissent was the highest form of patriotism, and then when dissent became the basest form of treason, before polymorphing once again to the highest form of patriotism.

I wonder what accounts for these whipsaw changes?!

He's already tried to use state securities fraud statutes to go after the likes of Exxon for saying anything anti-CAGW.

He's in league with Mueller to bring cases beyond Trump's federal pardon power. This could get messy in the End Game that's coming.

16 "Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election"

Um, correction. Mueller's mandate - while clearly unlawful and non-compliant with the relevant statute - does not mention this subject.

The puported subject of the investigation is contacts and links between the Trump campaign the Russia. I say purported because there's nothing to investigate there, obviously, and as the "investigation" has confirmed, but also because such "links" involve no likely criminal conduct and therefore were a (minor) counter-intelligence matter, not a criminal one.

Because he chooses to shit on New Yorkers with passion and glee.

In my own Washington state, we have "sideshow Bob" Ferguson, our new hyper-Democrat AG, that spends his time, resources, and budget figuring out how to sue Pres Trump. He ignores state issues, as this one-Party state is under complete control with the help of a hyper-Dem Leftist press, an illegal voter scheme for over 20 years called Motor Voter, and corruption in King County (Seattle) that would make the dead in Chicago blush with envy. What this country needs are more state governors like Jerry Brown who will nullify federal laws that don't advance the leftist agenda.

Of course Trump must be removed from office before he wrecks the glorious five year plan that Hillary was going to run when she was president.

State Governors have to hold the line against Trump even if it means using State Police Powers to arrest federal agents who try to enforce federal laws.

Trump is all bravado and will never send in military troops. State's Rights are the main line of resistance to federal over reach. The democrat party is still the party of state's rights.

In Rosenstein's order: "The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI
Director James 8. Corney in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017"

I think this refers to Russia interference. Which is related to the hypothetical collusion. Quid pro quo, you see.

I noted this awhile back that Mueller won't investigate this adequately leaving a big whole in his report. How could he not press to see the DNC server, or ask questions about what happened. You'll recall that Comey and others did no investigation on their own but totally relied on a firm hired by the DNC.

While I agree, I have to wonder - given the tax reform, SALT and the article of NY, CA, Il, etc, losing residents and therefore losing revenue, how long this would go one.

I know the answer is "always" but at some point, I would like to think people would look at this guy and say: This guy has too much time on his hands and isn't representing me/state very well.

Notice how he doesn't say how many he has won, but I would like to see someone publish the stat and ask NYers if they feel this is prudent spending of their tax dollars.

Just wait until the Sanctuary Cities Act is passed. These folks will be pissed.

43 >>Or the farce becomes even more incredible, forcing Trump to fire Mueller, and/or Sessions/Rosenstein?

The end game is likely to be greatly influenced by what Horowitz reports starting in January. Pretty much everyone has been focused full-time on the Mueller investigation and ignoring the OIG investigation which has been going on longer with far more investigators and goes all the way back to Hillary's email investigation through the start of the Trump investigation.

So far it has resulted in the dismissal or demotion of nearly 10 senior level DOJ and FBI personnel and will like result in charges for some or all of them. These are the same people investigating Trump.

It's hard to see how Mueller moves forward with any credibility when a large number of people who started the investigation or actually did the investigation of Trump are under investigation or indictment themselves for misconduct.

But Rosenstein chose to go the illogical late-night TV ad testimonial route, and cite many former AGs and high-rankin' DOJ types to "bolster" the case. ???? As if Eric Holder's view of *anything*, but especially judicial ethics and behavior, is something that bolsters a case? Are you kidding me? Several other names he quoted only *weakened* his case.

And then, the ludicrous appointment of Mueller, cuz "public interest". Again - are you f***ing kidding me? The "public interest" demands that some Beltway trash lawyers/paper pushers "investigate" an inconsequential counter-intelligence matter?

Go ahead and cite all the amazing things about Rosenstein. His two most important decisions so far place him in the lowest ranks of Obama-years affirmative action cretins.

60 "what's the End Game?"

One scenario is that Trump lets Mueller play it out, to show that Mueller either directly or implicitly says that Trump is clean. The Trump can go after the Conspirators with the upper hand.

Mueller's got nothing on collusion.

The DOJ OIG report will expose Comey as tanking the Hillary e-mail investigation. Trump's already calling him leakin' Comey. (Comey was dumb enough to say publicly that he leaked in hopes of triggering a special counsel). So Mueller can't make a credible obstruction case over Comey's getting fired.

All that's left is to gin up charges against the Trump kids for business practices. Which is why Schneiderman may come in, because Trump can't pardon state charges. If they go this route it won't end well for them.

I actually forgot MGMT were still a thing after their one-hit-wonder 'Kids' almost a decade back. The new album looks to be excellent if they can keep their streak running and hire a good editor.

150 >>You thinking Bill Clinton flew to Phoenix to brief Loretta Lynch on Golden Showers?

I think all of them knew about it from day 1. Clinton, Lynch, Obama, Comey .. the whole team.

As I've said here a few times, Obama had the wife of a Fusion GPS employee on his staff as a communications aide. Shailagh Murray was an ex-WSJ reporter which is likely where she met her husband Neil King and the rest of the Fusion team.

Fusion only has about 10 employees so they all knew what was going on. This is the same company that supposedly reviewed and declared fake the Planned Parenthood videos. They are a Dem hit shop and they've been working with senior Dem candidates since Obama's first campaign, probably longer.

It defies logic that if Lynch knew about the Russia dossier in the summer of 2016 and signed a request for a FISA warrant her boss who had already endorsed Hillary, who was deeply involved with the DNC who also paid Fusion for the dossier, had no idea about it. There is simply no way that the FBI would be weaponized against the Republican Party in the middle of a presidential campaign that if the Democrats lost would expose every shady thing the Obama administration did that Obama didn't know.

No doubt in my mind that he was part of the process, may even have been the one to present the request to the FISA court. Page might very well have been the DOJ lawyer involved since she worked directly for Bruce Ohr.

There is just so much going on right now it is impossible to ignore that big things are happening.

The judge who was overseeing Flynn's case is Rudolph Contreras. Contreras is also one of a handful of FISA judges. Right after he accepted Flynn's plea he recused himself without giving a reason why.

I mean c'mon.

One reason for my joke above about the mega-scandal reality colliding with the ignorant, manipulated, dumbed-down public (a huge portion of it).

Just had a talk with a good buddy today, we were comparing how people we know are literally incapable of intelligent discussion - they are utterly trapped in a bubble of ignorance and false frameworks lovingly crafted by Reuters, NYT, NPR, et al. They're not accustomed to thinking much about certain subjects, and have almost no knowledge or understanding.

Could be fun (in a dark way) when/if these mega-scandals finally explode the way they need to.

For example, the tweets about Andrew McCabe on the 24th. If/when he's arrested people will have heard of him, know about his ties to Clinton. ANd the only role the MSM played in that will have been...their overreaction to the tweets, amplifying his intended messaging.

The future Mr Gitts, the future.

I don't see Clinton and Obama getting charged, let alone convicted. Their minions are different. If this goes the way I hope, the reputations of Obama and Hillary will be destroyed. But it will have the more important effect of vindicating Trump as the long-suffering hero in the movie he's projecting to the American public. The Ds as a party will be left damaged and divided. MSM won't be believed for a second by 65% of voters.

Easy to lose hope after all those scandals - I sure did.

However, we have a fighter in the WH and the signs are good that people will be suffering for what they did under Obama (looking at the 8 snagged so far, such as Strzok). If Ohr and some of the other people who keep being found to be in on both Hillary email investigation, Russia set-up were also involved in the Hezbollah shenanigans, then it's even more likely they'll pay some sort of price (even if it's not as punitive as we would wan).

I think you win, but I also think there's more to the story. I'll bet that Bill dropped hints that Loretta could be Hillary's nominee to be the first black female SCOTUS justice, as long as Loretta played along on the email server caper.

Plus, that Phoenix meeting was the day before Hillary was interviewed by the FBI, IIRC. After Bill dropped SCOTUS hints to her, I bet Loretta told Bill what the FBI did and did not know, and gave Bill a list of the questions the FBI intended to ask.
