Its Saturday night, let's have a few chuckles. Fails.

Unless you're born a Gates or a Rockefeller, you've probably known debt. With the debt did you ever have a collection agency pestering you? Have you ever had a debt collection firm after you when you didn't have a debt? One man fought back.

On the morning a debt collector threatened to rape his wife, Andrew Therrien was working from home, in a house with green shutters on a cul-de-sac in a small Rhode Island town. Tall and stocky, with a buzz cut and a square, friendly face, Therrien was a salesman for a promotions company. He’d always had an easy rapport with people over the phone, and on that day, in February 2015, he was calling food vendors to talk about grocery store giveaways.

Therrien was interrupted midpitch by a call from his wife. She’d gotten a voicemail from an authoritative-sounding man saying Therrien was in some kind of trouble. “I need to verify an address to present you with your formal claim,” the man had said. “Andrew Therrien, you are officially notified.”

Jokingly The ONT refers to them as basement savers. Once in awhile they save more than basements. Sometimes they save Dumb Shits Genius Award Winners. So what did you do today Daddy?

Five firefighters spent an hour working to release a YouTube prankster who had cemented his head inside a microwave oven.

The 22-year-old and a group of friends mixed seven bags of Polyfilla before pouring it around his head, which was protected by a plastic bag inside the appliance.

Their intention was to use the microwave as a mould. By the time emergency services were called at 1.49pm on Wednesday to the garage of a house in Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, the group had already been trying to free him for 90 minutes.

Having sex with a corpse doesn't require one to register as a sex offender. Huh? Who knew?

In a bid to wake up his dead girlfriend, a man from Connecticut landed behind bars as he had sex with the deceased.

The 39-year-old Aaron Graser has been sentenced to a year in prison after he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual assault of a corpse and violation of probation Tuesday at Superior Court in Danielson. However, he was spared from being registered on the state’s sex offender list because according to the judge the case did not require any registration with regards to public safety as per the available facts.

Graser’s girlfriend was found dead by the Willimantic police in January. The police investigated the matter after they received a 911 call about a dead woman. They had also found heroin and needles around the woman. Later, an autopsy report confirmed that the woman had died a couple of hours before 911 was called and that the woman was dead when Graser had sex with her.

The Hartford Courant reported that the prosecutor said to the judge, “Graser had sex with a woman who had expired.”

Well she was always frigid your honor.

But of course he did Cars because the crowd would have burned down the venue had he not.

There's another Christopher Taylor living in Oregon with the same social security number as me, except for one digit. One number difference, 7 instead of 6. He had a student loan, too.

I ended up paying his loan for almost a year, and never knew until they started sending me nastygrams for not paying. The kind fellow didn't bother refunding anything.

My last landline phone number previously belonged to a deadbeat woman. Got calls for her from collection agencies, robo calls informing of state action against her, robocalls about a required appearance in court, for two years - the entire time I had the number. Again and again I would tell them I don't know this woman, if she gave this number she has since moved on or lied, please correct your records. Nothing worked.

33 ALH, they get printed as people order them! That's one of things that was very appealing about having them done by Amazon. This way we didn't have to guess at the number of books to order. I was disappointed to hear that he was going to direct Episode 9 as well. He did an ok job for the reboot but its obvious he has no sense of space and time, no pun intended. Everything is fast and immediate, no breathing room between scenes that should have some idea of the passage of at least some time. And as for space, well look at him having Spock on some planet to watch the destruction of Vulcan and treat it like it was a moon. And then Starkiller base send an interstellar blast to destroy the New Republic capital world that everyone has no problem witnessing.

They sent me a letter saying that by X date I must bring in completed form XYZ -which was a to the minute, p&l tax form combined along with every penny I made and spent for the last quarter - I was liable.
Oh, Be sure to bring enough cash to pay money owed, plus fine, plus interest.

Oh, and if you do not comply we will garnish your wages, take everything you own except for the bare necessities of life and your work transportation. And we will come every week and take any thing else you may have accumulated until we are satisfied.

101 I once had a cell phone number that was one digit off from the Sheriff's office. Mostly, I just redirected their call, but occasionally I could. not. resist. the. devil. inside. (I blame INXS).

A couple of memorable ones -- The guy that had lost his wallet. Without ever claiming any LEO connection, I asked him a few questions. First though, I mentioned that I *might* be able to help. Final question -- How much money was in the wallet? When informed there was none, I told him that I could be of no help, and try the Sheriff's office. He was not happy.

The other one was a guy on a rant mission. He ranted and raved about my unprofessionalism, about prior service, about the full moon, you name it. I listened patiently until he wound down, then told him he had the wrong number. Then I asked if he felt like a total dumbass, and he said Yes.

I changed numbers soon after that one.

I "stole" a huge tin of gourmet cookies from another guest at the party, and then had it stolen from me.
One of the ladies at my table had purchased the exact same tin of cookies, and her gift was still over on the table. She told which one it was, so I ended up with a YUGE tine of cookies after all.

229 Baby Sister Update

From dear friend Roni earlier today:

"Joyce is slowly adjusting to her Optune Cap, but today is an "off" treatment day, so we were out and about.  Because of the battery pack, there is a learning curve, that Joyce and Hubby will figure out. She's able to get out with it "on", but just needs to be aware when batteries need to be changed, etc.

Joyce had a ball at Aldi's and we made homemade granola. Daughter has a new job riding horses, which she loves.  She is looking so beautiful and happy. Joyce looks so bohemian in her "beanie."

Thank, Roni!

Then, in Atlanta, I had a number that was one digit different than Pro Percussion, which sold drums. Pro Percussion advertised their number as 626-DRUM. Sadly, percussionists seem not to be good spellers. If one dialed 626-DROM, then they got me.

The DM had some shots of Elle "The Body" MacPherson a while back. She's 53 now. She was looking a bit emaciated. Trying to be too skinny.

But still, she's still Elle MacPhuckingPherson. My mind recalls her as she was in my youth, I think.

358 back in the 80's, we got a call at the armory for "guys with GI belts and a GI haircut"...

so we borrowed an M-151 the next morning and drove from Inglewatts to Van Nuys Airport and were extras for a day on the shoot that eventually was released as "The Affair of the President's Wife" (iirc).

actually met both of them for a split second.

lots of other stories from that day, but, if you ever watch the movie, and can pause it, when you get to the scene where her motorcade comes onto the tarmac by the Lear jet, that's yours truly standing at high port arms by the AC door. Ray-Bans and all.

don't remember a blog war, but i left when he went bat shit, intractably #NeverTrump. closed that tab, never looked back, didn't even comment when he showed up at LI a few moths back to share his NT ravings.

kinda sad: we even met him once at one of the in home music things he used to mention. it has occurred to me that being a Trump supporter would have been a bridge too far for his bosses at LA County, or if he's just that way.

don't really give a damn either way: his choice, his blog, his life.

371 BTW, get ready for some more "global warming is killing polar bears" bullshit in the coming weeks. I saw something in passing on the "news" about a photographer filming "the thinnest polar bear he's ever seen" that was because there's no ice to hunt from/on because of CAGW.

From the pro-CAGW Wiki on polar bears...

Unlike brown and black bears, polar bears are capable of fasting for up to several months during late summer and early fall, when they cannot hunt for seals because the sea is unfrozen.[100] When sea ice is unavailable during summer and early autumn, some populations live off fat reserves for months at a time,[60] as polar bears do not 'hibernate' any time of the year.[101]

399 We preordered the cookbook and it just downloaded to our Kindle Fires. It looks FANTASTIC!! So many great recipes, Bandersnatch's illustrations, Muldoon's limericks and a linked TOC. And lots of humor. Bluebell and Weasel did a wonderful job with it. It works just as well on a Paperwhite except for the smaller screen and no color.

Our paperback versions are scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to hold a copy in my hands but the ebook version will be convenient, especially when shopping for ingredients.

It will take years to go through the recipes and will be worth the effort. The pie section alone is worth the price. There's even a recipe for rhubarb pie, which I haven't had in many years.

Hope everyone gets a copy or two or more.

I find Boggle to be a good game. On the plus side, it's never the same game and fast-moving, so getting bored with the game is not a problem, like can happen with Monopoly or Risk. It also helps with vocabulary and spelling. Educational and fun: Can't go wrong with that. And if you want to level the playing field for the youngsters, the adults having adult beverages will do just that.

Yep. I saw him as a commentator on some ancient Rome/ancient Greece history tv shows.

From the always reliable Wiki:

In 2004, Weller completed a Master of Arts degree in Roman and Renaissance Art at Syracuse University and occasionally taught courses in ancient history at the university.

In 2007, Weller began a Ph.D. at UCLA, in Italian Renaissance Art History. In October 2013 he filed his dissertation, entitled "Alberti Before Florence: Early Sources Informing Leon Battista Alberti's De picture", and was awarded his doctorate in 2014.

Weller's someone with whom I would enjoy sitting down and having an adult beverage while discussing such history.

China has launched its first all-electric cargo ship. The 230-foot-long ship runs a mere eight miles per hour, but the vessel has zero emissions of waste gas pollutants.

YAYYY!!!

The irony, however, is that the ship is going to haul coal, more than 2,000 tons worth, in the inland section of the Pearl River.
