Former Democratic Congressman Harold Ford Jr. has been fired for misconduct by Morgan Stanley after facing a human resources investigation into allegations of misconduct, a company spokeswoman confirmed. ... In two interviews with HuffPost, the woman alleged that Ford engaged in harassment, intimidation, and forcibly grabbed her one evening in Manhattan, leading her to seek aid from a building security guard. The incident took place several years ago when Ford and the woman were supposed to be meeting for professional reasons. Ford continued to contact her after the encounter until she wrote an email asking him to cease contact. The email, which was reviewed by HuffPost, shows that the woman emailed Ford after he repeatedly asked her to drinks. To harass means to 'repeatedly' do something. At the first instance, it can not by definition be harassment. For example, the first time I drop a load of manure in your driveway it's not harassing. To do it more than once constitutes harassment.

If it happened the way she described, I would think this was not good. Personally for me, I have a very hard time believing that a woman was held against her will and sexually jumped on, and then did not report it at the time.
Believe me (do not want to get into it here ) I cannot CANNOT wrap my head around the fact that a woman would perceive herself to be in such a hazardous situation, one that required a security guard, and then just went on her merry way, without a report to the police. This could easily mean he called her a few times and left messages asking her out, and eventually she emailed him to tell him "no" and that she was offended by his previous behavior. "Forcibly grabbing" is pretty vague (pretty much all "grabbing" could be considered "forcible"), so unless they release the actual email (not clear why they didn't) or add more details, I'm in the ho hum camp.

Normally this stuff isn't a big deal.
However, workplace can be different, especially if you are in a position to hurt someone's promotion or employment. There is a big difference between a man asking a neighbor out for drinks, and a school principal hitting on a teacher, or an officer hitting on an enlisted woman.
In the Ford case, if she felt the need to contact a security person, the encounter may have been a bit too forceful. I've had men grab at me, where I felt no fear, nor felt any need to ask anyone for help.

It's not tough. Monica L. was not sexually harassed because she said, 'Yes'. That's not going to happen very often guys. Nor are you going to be POTUS that often.
You get the first contact -- which is either an implausible 'Yes' or a more plausible 'No'. If it's yes, you're okay for now. But persisting after the very first 'No' -- you're screwed.

That is a different in kind statement from your prior comment that "If the woman asked that he not contact her anymore, and he apologized and didn't contact her anymore, I'm not sure what the charge is here."
That is not the sole allegation here. She said she contacted a security guard. That removes it from the realm of just a persistent suitor.

I'm capsing that because I do not want to be misunderstood here. I've been ringing the Satanic Ritual Abuse alarm for awhile and I think we are now 100% in that territory. It sounds like this was years ago and there are no other allegations and I'm not okay with him losing his job about this based on current information.

I used to think the same thing. When in Congress, he seemed to be a bit more centrist and fair-minded than the average Donk. Yet, when he ran for Senate in '06 (and especially when he considered carpetbagging to run against Gillibrand in 2010), he took a decided turn to the left.
Basically, he's spent his entire political career lying his ass off about what he believed, just to get elected.

Yes and yes. Honest to goodness, there's pretty much everything in this cookbook. The chapters are (in no particular order): Drinks, Appetizers, Side Dishes, Main Courses, For the Grill, Bread, Desserts. Everything from super simple to a some real doozies (in a good sense!).
We have some incredible cooks here, and quite a few lurkers sent in some good recipes and I wish they would comment.

Fair enough. It's merely that makes it different in kind to me than just a guy politely asking for a date who has to be told firmly no.
I may also be overreading it because I assumed grabbed her and she got a security guard involved meant grabbed her and didn't let go until she called security which is not what it says.
Which, again, has nothing to do with firing him over this years later.
The rest of what Geraldo said was self-serving crap but his point about being highly skeptical of claims made after five years or so was a fair point, I thought.

So the woman was a news reporter? Hmmmm....

So. Once upon a time, I was asked by a paralegal to talk to an adjuster because he wasn't understanding that our client didn't have a prior history of neck problems and I said sure. I get on the phone with him and said our client had no prior history of neck problems, I do not understand why you are claiming otherwise.
At which point, Adjuster Boy replied "Of course she did, it says right here in the records that she had a history of cervical cancer!"
I may possibly have taken the phone away from my ear and stared at it to be sure I heard what I heard.
Some back and forth ensued wherein I asked him if he understood that cervical cancer did not mean she had cancer of the neck and he insisted it did and I asked him if he had any female relatives and he demanded to know what that had to do with anything.
I told him to have his supervisor call me and he agreed, all in a huff.
The supervisor called back later that day and asked what the issue was, all still and formal and prepared to defend his adjuster. So I told him. And got "Oh, oh I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I said it was fine but I was about to fax a page out of Gray's Anatomy over to the adjuster because, seriously. Seriously.
I would have loved to have witnessed the supervisor having to explain this to the adjuster.

I'll tell one on me:
A file came over from the pre-litigation department for me to prepare a complaint. It was motorcyclist vs. the semi that jackknifed in front of him.
I called over to the paralegal in pre-lit and said, all snotty, I've told you over and over again that in death cases you have to get the final police report that says fatality on it and you have to be sure the estate is opened before it comes over to litigation. Paralegal replied "But he's not dead." Me "Wut?" Her "He's not dead." Me "But he slammed into the semi." Her "I. Know. But he's not dead."
A variant of this conversation was had when I reviewed the file with the attorney who was going to handle the litigation and she started to wind up on and where's the estate and I cut her off with "he's not dead." "Wut?" etc. etc.
The attorney for the tractor trailer company called up to try to settle it and he said "I didn't see where the estate was filed." "He's not dead." "Wut?" etc. etc.
How that guy survived is still a mystery to me to this day, especially considering the amount of blood splatter that was in the accident scene photos.

AutoOwners Insurance called today to say they've got the final settlement on the 2017 Toyota van my son-in-law was driving when he was t-boned last Saturday.
They are paying off in full, less about $500, but Progressive, the at-fault drivers insurance, payed the $750 deductible.

Ryan Shazier. Very classy good guy, was born with alopecia (he has little to no body hair, including eyebrows, etc. ) He was taunted and bullied a lot as a kid and rose above it with the help of his parents. I don't dispute that they had cause to fire him, but we don't know what their findings actually were. We also don't know exactly what any of those words mean in this context. "Grab" is a charged word. What actually happened? In what way did he "intimidate" her? We don't know. And yet he is now ensconced in the Pervthion with Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Matt Lauer. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it. I'm just saying the evidence is a little out of proportion to the uproar.

I beg for forgiveness! My concern was for only ordering two. My irrevokable resignation is tendered .
I apologize for the misunderstanding. It has been my task to make clear to everyone that this is an excellent cookbook. It has an eclectic mix of good recipes, good humor and never to be forgotten character. It has been compiled to appeal to a wide audience. I believed in this cookbook.
But I only ordered two. One for me and one for backup.
This is my failure. Asking you to do something and not following through myself.
I have family that would enjoy this cookbook. Friends. And I had forgotten them.
So am now dedicated to go do that which I had asked others to do. I will order more.
Do not let my failure keep you from gifting these wonderful cookbooks for others to enjoy.is
