Sexual Harassment Leftist Scalp Tally: Matt Lauer, Garrison Keillor

Last night Keillor opined in the Washington Post that it was "absurd" that Al Franken would be pressured to resign over some groping allegations:

All from PJ Media. They also report that an NPR Chief News Editor has resigned in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

More: May be more incidents?

I do not like it being established that a man being accused must be immediately destroyed and lose his job. I mean, some of this is likely blowback from Moore (they can't really justify saying they should be left alone and demand he be crucified) but still.

I suspect that they're leaving their positions because they're guilty, know it, and the accusations are not just credible but overwhelming, another "open secret" thing.

It's well known NPR is a hotbed of leftist agitprop.

If the roles were reversed and this was some right wing public institution (hah like that exists) filled with gropers, the left would right now be unified in screaming that it's got to go and in short order would totally take over said institution and immediately fill it with their own people.

Robert Stacy McCain has an interesting theory about this: he thinks the driving force behind it is because Hillary lost and Trump won.

Quote:

"The zero-tolerance no-mercy attitude toward male misconduct is a product of feminist rage over Trump's victory; they cannot destroy *him*, so they'll destroy any man within range. The only way to save yourself? Avoid feminists."

I'm inclined to think that's at least a significant (though unacknowledged) part of it.

Yeah, Frau Gruppencankles' defeat had a lot to do with it, but not quite in that way. I think these victims kept their mouths shut because they knew that any sexual harassment/rape allegations against Donks/Donk supporters would remind the public of Bill's crimes. This would damage/embarrass Hillary, which could NOT be allowed.

Of course, now that Hillary Clinton Will Never Be President, there's no reason to stay silent and endure further degradation.

The Left created this monster with their #WarOnWomen and campus rape epidemic stuff. They stoked the feminist anger, so sure that they could use it to further tear down traditional institutions and norms, take out Republican opponents.

as part of its plot line of an unprincipled man unwittingly and unwillingly becoming a better man.

Plus, laughs galore as it is a picaresque comic novel.

286 And the "They're going to start doing this against us!"? Mother fucker they've been doing this against us. And its part of why I think there is a lot of validity to these claims against these smug liberal pricks. I don't know Ailes' full history but it was done to him. It was done against O'Reilly and I do remember a number of years back that he had some weird "loofa" story, so I think that is a demonstration of pattern of behavior.

Oh and after O'Reilly, they went after Sean Hannity? Remember that? Yet he's still standing. Because he shut that shit down. And there's probably no history there to go "yeah he probably did that." If this was all "accusations prove its true so fire them," Hannity would be gone.

Still, it was pretty sad. One of them was trying to break into the business and got an offer from Rose involving a pretty hefty amount of money considering it was only a week or so worth of work. This site used to be a forum where reasonable people could could reasonably discuss current issues. Sometimes with wit, simple humor, or juxtaxopition.

Breitbart (God rest his soul) commented that he would not read the content of a post, but only read the comments. The comment section, in my opinion, has been polluted by people of low wit, high self esteem, and just the desire for an easy outlet for their opinions.

Other commenters used to embarrass these types of people from trying to comment. This type of self-policing no longer exists.

366 Liberal media dominance has exposed their flank. If the media were less biased, or if more stations were conservative, this would not be perceived as a problem with liberal culture. But if 99% of the outlets are liberal, of course most of the culprits will be as well. On the right there's Ailes and O'Reilly, which everyone has forgotten about, and that's about it. On the left, an ever increasing stack of bodies.

That's kind of obvious by now. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out. I would imagine his being on the offensive helps promote his narrative (since the campaign) about being not guilty of anything more than locker room talk. And it's not like the Dems have been ignoring trump's tape as this stuff unfolds. They have been trying to link him to it since Weinstein.

So he could sit there ignoring their attempts at linkage (seems guilty); or refuting their attempts (seems guilty); or ignoring the specifics linkage attempts but being one of us amazed at what's happening (implying innocence).

Why the bee in your bonnet today? Trump has been whipping the media, the left (BIRM) and the yacht-club-and-Chardonnay-"conservatives" into an absolutely clothes-rending, mouth-frothing frenzy and they've been tearing themselves apart the whole time. Fewer people trust the media, fake conservatives are being exposed left and right, and the weaponized sexual harassment accusation strategy is blowing up in the very faces of those who created it. Yeah this is what I've been thinking ever since Trump started to do well in the primaries. This is where we are as a culture. This is what you get when your president goes on MTV and talks about his underwear, or gets an interview with demented Froot Loops girl. This is what happens when he goes on late night talk shows.

Don't talk to me about the dignity of the office, that's been shredded, turned into toilet paper, and used by Harry Dunne after Lloyd Christmas fed him a whole bottle of laxative. 501 I understand Gumdrop's concerns. I share them. I think Trump goes too far sometimes on social media and does dumb stuff. He shoots from the hip a lot. He makes mistakes on there.

At the same time I recognize that the mistakes are largely irrelevant, because while they loom FREAKING GIGANTIC for about 48 hours because of the overblown status of Twitter, they are forgotten within a few days after that.

And while he misses on social media sometimes, he hits more often, and his hits are right to the heart of the American public, bypassing the media and getting attention on things that would otherwise be utterly ignored. It drives the press absolutely bonkers and they scream about stuff they've been studiously trying to keep under cover.

I've said it before, but we're in such a stupid time now that the short form snarky tweet is the modern version of the Fireside Chat. FDR's statesman like tones over the radio reached people in their hearts, where they lived. Ronald Reagan's folksy speeches and wry, smiling comments hit people right at home. That's just where we are now. Trump is speaking the language of the people, with their voice. Sometimes he messes up. But usually, its dead on.

His enemies think he's a loose cannon, and that is why they can't deal with him. They have so misjudged him they are shocked when he doesn't fall into their traps, accept their narrative, bounces back from expected knock-out punches. I suspect part of what all of Trump's verbal punches are designed to do is shatter their arrogance and make them wary of battling him. ...
In a September interview with Sky News, Debbie “White Dove” Porreco said that Trump once asked her if it offended her that he used the name “Pocahontas” to refer to the Democratic senator.

“I know that he uses ‘Pocahontas’ sometimes with Elizabeth Warren,” Porreco explained. “He said, ‘well does that offend you when I use that?’ And I told him no, it doesn’t offend me.”

“If Pocahontas were alive today, she would be very proud of President Trump,” Porreco said. “Just like Pocahontas was a heroine, Donald Trump is going to be our hero.""

Knowing how to prioritize is a skill that all need and few have. Trump is one person that I believe has that skill. People here have kvetched about why this is not done, or that, or the other. And no one seems to ask "What is the priority other than I would like that?" The judiciary is a priority. Get those openings filled, get them filled early, and get them filled fast and start reaping the rewards - like the decision about who leads the CFPB. And it is now the president's pick, his budget director, who is shutting everything down for a month. And to my ear that speaks the word "audit". A full audit of that agency would be very, very, interesting. Especially if it was turned into a DNC slushfund. You think these sex scandals are entertaining? Fun? Want more? Imagine that one.

Priorities, such as reorganizing the EPA. Cleaning out the Augean stables at State. And at Defense. And at Justice. You want indictments? I want to have the rot cut out of those agencies first thing. And if the buffoon has to put on a clown show to distract the hyenas of the press from that, then so much the better.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at November 29, 2017 01:46 PM (H8S+R)

596 This move was sheer genius. Maybe not orchestrated by Trump, but who cares. Genius.

I think President Trump does things by instinct or intuition, he doesn't think it through with focus groups and careful study, polling and a team of experts. He goes with his gut. Sometimes its a mess, sometimes it works great. Most of the time it works great, as everyone has to admit based on his life and his rise to power. He did that, by grabbing his bootstraps and yanking as hard as he could.

Yeah, he got a big leg up from his dad, but he could have blown it all and ruined himself. Its happened millions of times in the past. Instead he's a billionaire president of the United States. His call is usually pretty good.

On one Veterans Day he performed this weird sing-song piece on Prairie Home Companions about a veteran who begrudged the loss of his legs. Bizarre, hideous and presumptuous it was.

Their timing is a bit off, then - by about a year. The American public has the attention span of fruitflies. By 2019 everyone will be sick to death of the topic.

The left normally understands the value of timing - which is why the Roy Moore allegations just came out. (Even then, I would say they're losing their touch. Should have waited until about 1 and a half weeks before the election, like they did with Dubya and the drunk driving allegations. Enough time to get the word out and smear the candidate - not enough time to mount an effective rebuttal. )

I think a very big difference with normality and the shit-show going on in the media-government complex right now is that in almost all cases, the accused just throws up their hands and says "screw it, you got me."

They're not lawyering up it seems, they're not fighting back and protesting their own innocence, and all their responses seem to be some form of mutilated press conference non-apology-apology.

THAT is how I keep this mess separate in my mind from normal law and due process concerns. It's all theater, performed by fools and hacks and charlatans.

Let's be honest...there is nothing brave about coming forward well after
the fact and using what is becoming the rote excuse of being terrified.
The simple fact is that all these accusers put their own personal
career ahead of principle and the well being of others likely to be the
next victim.

Get ready, because strategy meetings are likely taking place in the
bowels of the Democrat party planning to take out whomever they want on
the right by tasking various females with making accusations. They have
created a climate where accusing is now trendy regardless of substance.
The media will play right along.

Disagree. The Climate is, all these pervs getting called out and not having even a little toe to stand on. They have been standing on the edge of a cliff for so long they never thought anyone to the left of them would push back. Oops.
If you are innocent then blow the house of cards down. Stand up forthrightly and say "Liar". But if you are guilty.....then you earned it and over the edge you go. None of these people who are going over the rails right now have come out and said "NOT TRUE!". It's all...."You got me, what took so long".

701 I think Trump knows what he's doing with the crazy tweets, and it's two-fold.

1. For those of us on the right who are engaged and support him, stuff like the Morning Joe tweet fire us up. We look at each other and get all giddy and yell "DAAAAAAAAAMN SON!" We LOVE seeing somebody shove it back down the liberals' throats because we've been their punching bags for too damn long. It's one reason so many of us loved Andrew Breitbart so much. He never backed down, he never apologized, he stood his ground and exposed the shitlibs for who they are. For forty years it's been open season to lie about conservatives, especially conservative white Christian rural or suburban Americans. We're just supposed to sit and take it. No more. Now we have the God-Emperor Trump slinging 280-character thunderbolts down from Mount Olympus and making all the liberals dance like monkeys.

2. At the same time, the thunder and lightning from the tweets, like some folks have posted upthread, give him camo for actually getting stuff done. CFPB? Well, yeah...OMG TRUMP CALLED WARREN POCAHONTAS! Tax cuts? Let's make up some in-depth lies about...OMG MORNING JOE!

It's brilliant strategy, whether it's accidental or intentional. The modern liberal news media are so filled with Trump-hatred, so stupid, and so easily distracted by shiny objects that Trump can pretty much knock them off-message at will just by Tweeting or saying something semi-controversial. He yells "SQUIRREL!" and they just go off chasing it. It's magical to watch.

She was supposedly alone in his office over a holiday weekend. She supposedly fainted and just happened to fall hitting her head on the corner of his desk causing a skull fracture and instant death.

He supposedly in another town or traveling to another town that day.

From what I've seen it wasn't a great autopsy. And also supposedly Joe S was good friends with the local cops who would have been investigating the scene. So there you have the mystery. Did she faint, or did somebody push her or did she get hit in the head with something else by somebody.

You have no witnesses and so you are going to need one heck of a CSI team to work the team to get anything from the scene. Otherwise you got nothing. For example, not sure if they checked cell phone records to see if his phone pinged towers where he was supposed to be or not.

STATEMENT FROM MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO REGARDING GARRISON KEILLOR AND A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION

NOVEMBER 29, 2017

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is terminating its contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies after recently learning of allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him.

Last month, MPR was notified of the allegations which relate to Mr. KeillorÎÎs conduct while he was responsible for the production of A Prairie Home Companion (APHC). MPR President Jon McTaggart immediately informed the MPR Board Chair, and a special Board committee was appointed to provide oversight and ongoing counsel. In addition, MPR retained an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation of the allegations. Based on what we currently know, there are no similar allegations involving other staff. The attorney leading the independent investigation has been conducting interviews and reviewing documents, and the investigation is still ongoing. We encourage anyone with additional information to call our confidential hotline 1-877-767-7781.

MPR takes these allegations seriously and we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive work environment for all employees and everyone associated with MPR. We want a workplace where anyone who experiences unwanted behavior feels comfortable in reporting concerns to MPR. Discrimination, harassment, retaliation or other inappropriate behaviors will not be tolerated.

MPR will end its business relationships with Mr. KeillorÎÎs media companies effective immediately. By terminating the contracts, MPR and American Public Media (APM) will:

- end distribution and broadcast of The WriterÎÎs Almanac and rebroadcasts of The Best of A Prairie Home Companion hosted by Garrison Keillor;

- change the name of APMÎÎs weekly music and variety program hosted by Chris Thile; and,

- separate from the Pretty Good Goods online catalog and the PrairieHome.org website.

MPR and APM will work closely with public radio stations to help make the programming transitions as seamless as possible. "Garrison Keillor has been an important part of the growth and success of MPR, and all of us in the MPR community are saddened by these circumstances," said Jon McTaggart, President of MPR. "While we appreciate the contributions Garrison has made to MPR and to all of public radio, we believe this decision is the right thing to do and is necessary to continue to earn the trust of our audiences, employees and supporters of our public service." "Over the last several weeks, the special Board Committee has worked closely with MPR President Jon McTaggart and legal counsel to review the facts as we know them and carefully consider the implications of the various options," said David Murphy, Chair of the MPR Board of Trustees. "The Board Committee concluded that terminating the Keillor relationships was the appropriate decision and the Board and Jon are aligned in this action. Fortunately, MPR is one of the strongest public broadcasting organizations in the country. We are confident MPR will continue to innovate with programming and content that ensures MPR will remain one of the most valued sources of news, information and entertainment for decades to come."

LoL. "Decent people" were fine with the progressives winning. That means they weren't "decent" but rather the reverse. "Decent people" were also fine with GWB not returning fire, which gave us progressives and the progressive take over of the federal government from president to the last file clerk. "Decent people" are virtue signalers who have no core integrity but love the attention of projecting some snobbery they think makes them look elite.

BTW, I'm an "elite" school, over educated urbanite and I can play ball in the elite milieu. You're confused about who and what is "decent." Pretending Trump is vulgar or bad when the real indecent filth are the progressives and those who want their approval as well as those virtue signalers who have no core integrity is inane and low information.

735 Oh, and i get it meremortal. The concern trolls love the words "decent" and "principle."

Posted by: dagny at November 29, 2017 02:25 PM (eO5CB)

736 If Donald Trump really were the ridiculous caricature that the barbarians (left, right and center) paint him to be, I'd probably hate him too.

Posted by: Warai-otoko at November 29, 2017 02:25 PM (hcyUh)

737 "Otherwise you got nothing."

There's some scuttlebutt about two head wounds.

Joe instantly went on radio programs to say she had health problems, when she didn't.

He quit Congress mid-term right after.

As many have said, more proof than Trump's Russiagate.

738 I'm not posting to argue.

Then you're in the wrong place.
Posted by: Insomniac - Nobody in Particular at November 29, 2017 01:28 PM (NWiLs)

I think you are right, and I should have known better. I was/am angry at Trump for his recent tweets, and I'm sorry if that spilled over in a snarky fashion.

I think I best take a break. And when I have strong feelings that are anti-Trump, post elsewhere. B/c I obviously blew it today.

And like you said, if I don't want to argue I shouldn't be posting here, and that is a fair point.

740 We already tried the nice polite "decent" turn around/bankruptcy expert - Romney.

So now you get the Jerk turnaround/bankruptcy expert.

This really isn't that hard people. We are just working our way down a list of negotiables. You thought we would change the turnaround/bankruptcy part of the equation but we changed the nice polite decent part.

746 Disagree.

That's the climate for most of us with a sense of decency. But, keep in mind the left always telegraphs and projects. Most times you can tell what they are up to by analyzing what they are accusing their opposition of doing. Right now the Left is getting hammered by these accusations...and they are saying to themselves "the right must be doing it also...because we are."

I think the next midterm (201 just about every non-establishment (and even some of those) will be accused of inappropriate behavior in one fashion or another. And, with this current trendy little climate...that's all they will have to do, because the media will run with it every time. The saving grace is that they always overplay their hand. But, will they do so in time? I think the Senate switches democrat in the next mid-term...and the House will be lose ground.

========

Accusation: "Your statement is offensive to Native Americans"

Response: "No it isn't. Native Americans claim it is not"

Compare that to:

Accusation: "If we allow historical monuments to stand it means we endorse slavery"

Response: "No it doesn't. That's bullshit" (notice the lack of reference to people faking ethnicities, such as the case is with Warren).

Not really the same thing.

This guy is a liberal troll. He does not want to have an honest discussion. He thinks his non sequiturs are the equivalent of the reasoned arguments that are made here, and he always avoids giving a positive statement of what he believes so as to avoid having to defend his real viewpoints. It's easier to always be on the attack when you don't explicitly defend anything.

He's a cockroach shit sandwich. Why is this troll tolerated around here?

Posted by: Steve and Cold Bear at November 29, 2017 02:46 PM (/qEW2)

751 It is strange all these allegation lean left, to far left.

My guess any righty has been scared straight for decades because the media would dump all over them if they were ever caught. The left just did whatever they pleased assuming they would never be reported as long as they paid lip service to feminist issues.

Now, well, my guess is that feminists realize they guys in Hollywood, and the media, and congress, have no real power anymore. Which means suddenly they become accountable.
